We came in on a Monday (Labor Day), and it was surprisingly busy! However, there was plenty of seating so we didn't have to wait at all. They offer a variety of different pottery pieces for you to choose from. You pick your peace, each labeled with their price, and grab your own paint colors. You can take as much time as you'd like to paint your piece and once you're complete you check out at the register. They'll reach out in about a week or so to let you know when your piece is fired so you can pick it up. There were plates, piggy banks, bowls, figurines, coasters, anything you can think of! Super cute place! It's really self ran after you've been given instructions. Pick your piece out and the colors you want to paint it with and the brushes. After you're done you give it back so that they can put it back in the oven and they'll call in a few days when it's done. They have a lot to choose from. Nice music while you're there. They also have different workshops to do for kids and classes where you'll pin specific things you can go specifically for. Definitely will be going back. Wonderful pottery store. 5 out of 5 stars. This was my first time in Mudpie or painting pottery. I decided to paint a large platter that I'm planning on using as a charcuterie board. When I walked in, there was a young girl (probably high school aged?) who greeted me immediately and asked how she could help me. I told her I wanted to look around and I really appreciated that she gave me space to do this, but was also there anytime I had questions. There were cute examples of finished pottery that gave me ideas. (I was also really excited when I found out that the store will write words on your pottery!!) When I was ready to paint, I sat at the table and there was a list of tips/directions that helped. I painted and then decided to have the store write my last name (Days) in the middle of my platter. I then paid for it and they told me it would take 5-10 days for my platter to be ready. After 7 days, I got a text that my platter was ready. It is sooo cute and perfect. The writing they did for my name looks so good. I have tried to upload a picture for so long and cannot get it to upload. I will keep trying so you can see. I highly recommend. read more

Shortly after my initial review I was contacted by management to address my complaints as well as get additional detail surrounding the individual who was dismissive when I stop by to originally pick up my pieces. It was brought to my attention that the "Birthday plate" that was not ready can take "up to 3 weeks" to complete. Management agreed that this could have been mentioned up front at the booking or at the end of my party. I appreciate management's willingness to work with me to find a solution to complaints. read more

Local, fun stop and varied selection for different price points! The only negative is that their selection of matching sets of bowls/plates was limited when we were there last. That's been about 1 year....maybe less. We like as a family to get these items made and use them for some time. We chose other more inexpensive items in their [lace bc we wanted them to match and they were either of various shapes or not enough in stock. We prefer the traditional deep bowls and standard plates as those get the most use. Perhaps we will swing by again this summer on a hot day to see if that has changed! We'd love to paint a new set again! Our last trip was a great memory maker though and appreciated them being open during so many shut downs!!!! :-) read more

This was our first visit and we had tons of fun. We had a group of 7 kids and 5 adults for our painting adventure. The staff there was knowledgeable, accommodating, and patient with the customers. The prices were reasonable, and did not include an extra base charge like other painting places. Terry was awesome to speak with via phone when I called to plan our visit. I'll write an update, once I get my item fired and back. This review is about the initial experience. We went in for Mother's day and got in early. The place was clean and neat. There were a lot of items to choose from. I thought the prices were a little high, but you are paying for the paint, the firing, the help, and the facilities too. They have a lot of different glazes available and examples for you to look at to help you decide on how you want to paint. Also helpful are the little sheets of info on each workstation. The place filled up with people and when full, it can be distracting. The tables are a little close together, so people with strollers or who are heavier can bump into you or your table. Be prepared to be interrupted a bit during busy times as people also will ask you for some of your glaze, since the popular colors fly off the racks. The selection of stamps and sponges was pretty good, but their brushes were really really worn. If you are really into painting, I highly suggest you bring your own brushes. Their pallets and tiles for using to put your paint into/on are handy and their washing station is pretty good. The gals working inside are nice and they can give you some helpful hints. Also, they can sell you a drink or some snacks for a not too horrible price. Overall, it's a fun diversion for a day or a special event. Wonderful experience!!! The staff was so friendly and helpful and explained how everything worked when we came in. The prices were so reasonable compared to any other painting place we've been to. There were tons of pieces to choose from and a bunch of different paints and brushes and supplies to use to paint our pieces. There's amazing art and examples all over the walls to give you ideas for your piece. We got our pieces within a week and they turned out so cute! We had such a great time! Took my daughter today for some daddy daughter time and really enjoyed the time I spent with her. It's a great concept for people to hang out and be creative. On the other hand, the staff seemed like they had better things to do than to help any patrons in the store. Along with other reviews, no one greeted us upon entering the store (employees were playing on their phone), on one offered any suggestions or asked if we needed help, the prices are what I expected for the Kingwood area, and it takes about a week for your work to be completed.... However, while I was there, I noticed how difficult it is to pick up your finished project, every customer that came in to pick theirs up had an issue trying to find theirs. So, once my daughter and I finished a took a picture of both pieces in case there is an issue picking ours up next week. Just follow the lead of other customers if the employees aren't helpful, check out their website and enjoy the company of the ones you are there with. read more

As a child, painting ceramics was something my family did often and going to Mudpie was reminiscent of that! My boyfriend and I went this evening after searching for something to do in the area. Everything was clean and organized and I loved my overall experience. My only complaint was that since it was our first time to the place we thought we would be greeted when we walked in and would hear about their process and where to get our supplies. However, when we walked in the door we weren't greeted, even though other customers were. The employee that was not speaking to a customer on the phone was too busy chatting with her little friends to at least tell us how to get started, since I didn't know their store policy. We asked the girl at the counter for help after she was off the phone and got the full run-down. She was very sweet and helped a lot. But we had a lot of fun and are excited to see how our tile turns out! We plan on going back for another fun night. read more

Fun place but beware of cost! This Saturday I brought my two grandchildren to the Mudpie Company in Kingwood, TX. We arrived around 2:00 p.m. and was greeted immediately. After a very swift introduction of "how we work", the clerk walked away. My grandchildren picked out 4 medium pieces to paint and the three of us had fun creating the master pieces. My joy quickly ended however when I went to pay for them. The total cost of the 4 pieces were $86.00! Needless to say the rest of my grandchildren's day with grandma was curtailed due to the cost at Mudpie. read more

We had my daughter's birthday party here. I scheduled it 6 weeks prior to the event. I called the day before the party to confirm the amount of kids and was told they double booked the party. Although I booked prior to the other party I was asked to change my party time and when I said no to that I was asked to have it in the main room instead of the party room. I was assured they would make the party special for my daughter so I agreed. The next day we get there and outside the door was the mud pie sign that said "Happy Birthday Sidney" which is not my daughters name. They only acknowledged the other party. We were put in the front by the window with no room for parents and a very hot window. Our table was not set up to paint as the parents had to go and get napkins for the painters. When it was cake time, the host lowered the blinds! We had no idea there were blinds or would have lowered them during the first hour of sweating in the sun. We had to walk our trash/cake plates to the back through the regular customers trying to paint where the one trash can is. They did refund us $25 for the party room. The final mistake was not contacting me when the pottery was ready for pick up. The host wrote the incorrect email down. My daughter loves to paint pottery but I will have to find another store for her. read more

I think it's a great place to go if you don't mind some letters and stuff on it. They have brushes and sponges and so many colors and many different pieces to paint. They have pieces for looks and function. I've been there multiple times and it's always irked me whenever I had to put my initials on it. I understand that it's necessary so you get your piece and they know it's yours. However, my most recent piece had my initials on the inside of it. This I do every time I can so it doesn't ruin it as much as it would. I told the staff that I had placed it on the inside and when I got it back they rewrote it on the outside. If you don't mind it showing then you should go and it's a great overall experience. It just isn't for me. read more

I would love to say I liked this place. However I cannot. I was excited to take my family here as they were on vacation and wanted to do something fun. We walked in with five adults and four children and we were greeted by a less-than-thrilled young woman. That asked what we needed. We said the obvious, that we wanted to paint. She counted us in her head, looked us up and down and said "all of you?" She explained the process in the most distant and snooty voice she could muster and left to a back room. I went over to the shelves and was shocked at the prices. I've been to a place like this before and could paint a cup or bowl for eight dollars. I found a cup I liked for $21. The website should state that the average price of a piece is over $25. Not $8-65. We were underwhelmed by the terrible service and sky high prices and walked right out without so much as a goodbye from the employee. read more
