It had been about 10 years since I shopped Pottery Barn in person, and after visiting this store I realized I didn't really miss it. That's not to say it's not a great place to shop; this store has an elegant layout, the staff were attentive, and the wares are nice, upscale generic home goods. Actually, I prefer buying nearly the same things at Home Goods for much less - you just have to dig a little. If your favorite color is cream/beige/eggshell, this is the store for you. The one item that made me perk up was a book on Ralph Lauren used to dress up one of the coffee tables. It made me want to shop there instead. read more

store is fine, delivery of product unsatisfactory. At least 4 delays in arrival of pieces - a rug and credenza - $4,000 expenditure. one item went on sale prior to delivery. After at least 6 repeated phone calls (each time 45 min) for a store credit for the difference in price between what I paid and the sale price prior to delivery,and constant promises with apologies, no credit was ever received. I gave up. Very unprofessional business operation: 1) never told items on back order when purchased; 2) delivery of products delayed 2 months; 3) product advertised for sale prior to my product arriving 4)repeated calls and promises I would be compensated with store credit, and after 2 months I gave up.Never again. read more

Okay, complaining about bad experiences at Pottery Barn may seem overly frivolous, but they pissed me off! How? I was absent minded enough to give them my email address the last time I bought something at this location. Since then, I've been getting non-stop SPAM from them, despite all my efforts to make them cease and desist. They pay no attention to their opt-out selections, and customer service is useless. Is this a First World problem? Maybe, but it's still incredibly annoying, and won't be doing business with these people any more. read more

Wow- a big NO from me. Just moved to the Palm Springs area from out of state and need to furnish an entire home. PB had always been my go to in Illinois for beautiful furnishings at good prices. Well apparently no more. Not a single one of the 5-6 employees could bother to look up and say hello let alone ask if we wanted any help for the entire time we were in this store. Defective Product Bad Customer Service! A few months ago I purchased a set of their Au Natural white dinnerware. After a couple of months I started noticing black scratch marks that got worse and worse over time. I wrote to corporate and they said to contact the retail outlet where I bought them. I wrote two emails to the store on the "give us feedback" link on their website. I wanted advice as to what I should do. They have never responded. White Glove Service - Ordered an expensive bedroom set. The White Glove delivery people from PB delivered the bed and used an electric drill with screwdriver insert to assemble it. BUT the drill clutch was set on firm. They stripped most of the screws that hold the mattress support slats on and the bed together. Now the bed squeaks terribly and i have to replace with larger screws. I'm over 65 years old and this is very hard to do with heavy mattress and box springs - plus I live alone. Just to show how bad the service was, on my king bed there are center supports. They put these on and they didn't even touch the floor. I pointed it out and they said "oh that doesn't matter". I had to crawl under the bed to adjust them myself. They were complete idiots. Shame on Pottery Barn for hiring fools that ruin furniture. NEVER AGAIN! read more

I was in this store yesterday and warmly welcomed by a woman named Lisa. She was so down to earth, listened to my needs and was very attentive. I feel so much better with my decisions as they are big purchases for my home. She was ready to help, so so sweet and made for such a pleasant experience in the store. I'm not a frequent of Pottery Barn but I now will make it one of my Go To stores. She showed no reservation to assist carrying things out to my car. A few weeks ago, I received an email from Pottery Barn offering a free in-home consultation for design services. I went to the website and found an available time, and signed up. I received a confirmation email. According to Pottery Barn, the consultant would be coming from the Palm Desert store. On the day of the appointment, I received a confirmation text. Shortly after receiving the text message, I received a phone call from some guy at the store telling me that the appointment is not really an in-home consultation. This guy told me that people were mistaken if they thought they could "just point and click and schedule an in-home consultation". He explained that in-home consultations were only for measuring. I would have to instead bring in photos of my place to the store. Is this bait-and-switch, or what? This is completely unprofessional. Either Pottery Barn is doing a classic bait-and-switch, or this guy from the store is just being a jerk and not doing his job. Good thing I didn't spend any money here. I did take time off work to be home, though. There's lots of competition in this business, so I'll just "point and click" elsewhere. read more

In the end, I found out it was to be in the store. When I arrived at the appointment time, the man at the desk acted rather put out and said he only had a little time...what did I want to talk about? I love Pottery Barn and I love this store. The design is beautiful and I walk through and envision all their lovely products finding a new home in mine. Today I wandered through the store, gift card in purse looking for something to jump out at me. For some reason nothing did. I enjoyed browsing but must admit, I was surprised that not one sales person approached me and offered any assistance.... and I saw a lot of sales associates. I was in that impressionable state of mind where I could have probably been persuaded to find some lovely seasonal trinket (especially since I had a gift card!) but I ended up leaving empty handed. While the store offered so many lovely things, I did not feel welcomed by the staff. I don't NEED that, but it sure is a nice part of the shopping experience. Maybe next time. read more

Went here to purchase new quilt, pillows.. We were first helped by a woman, then Steven helped us! He was awesome, had great ideas on which pillows would compliment, checked the stock room more than once and never lost his patience with my indecisiveness! My most recent experience was walking in to find a handful of employees at the entrance and not ONE of them acknowledged me, not even a "Hello". In fact, of ALL the available employees, it was an employee whom was in the middle of a call that chose to finally greet me, and I greatly appreciated him extending himself beyond what was already occupying him. Won't shop there again. We were promised 3 end tables on the phone as they had them in stock. When we arrived they said two were on the floor and they wouldn't sell those. So we said we'd order them as we did like them and they fit our home. Well guess what, they are now charging for delivery to the store and then you pick them up. Never heard of that but wanted the tables so ordered them. So after multiple calls and promises of delivery we canceled the order today as they kept lying to us saying they were on the way. They promised them last week and they didn't show up. No explanation so we're done with Pottery Barn. read more

We shop here and every time we notice the employees are snooty. I'm not going to spend my money where employees act rude and arrogant. Especially when they are caught lying. We went there today to specifically shop for bedding, throws, and pillows. While shopping, I had to use the bathroom. I am disabled as a side note and noticed "Out of Order" signs posted on both bathroom doors. What's the odds of both bathrooms being broken? Ok slim so I heard someone in the bathroom flush the toilet and wash their hands while standing there wondering what to do. Then I see a male employee come out. The reason I know he was an employee was because he had a radio. So I step inside and no signs of any work or repairs. My thought is that they don't want to have to clean up after customers so they stick up those signs to keep shoppers out. So after I used the well functioning bathroom, my husband asked Donna (employee) if there was a bathroom. After stuttering and refusing to look him in the eye, she said they did but they were t works no and that we could walk all the way to Brooks Brothers to use theirs. This is ALL THE WAY at the OTHER END of the complex. Plus upon speaking to Brooks Brothers. They don't have a bathroom. It's a little further around the corner. They graciously apologized for Pottery Barns behavior and provided the managements office number. My husband called Pottery Barns manager Nicole who stated she hadn't been there this week and was told by employees that there had been flooding upstairs. Sounds like more lies. She's been there all day today. So did Nicole walk all the way to Brooks to use the potty today? Not cool to lie to your customers. Glad I put the bedding back! read more

Wow! I was trying to put in an order through them and not the Internet, but the service is not only snail pace but sales people are shockingly rude, haughty and obnoxious! When the lady realized I was willing to wait for an item to go on sale, she literally HUNG UP on me while ending my conversation. SERIOUSLY, lady, you need to find another job! A few weeks ago I saw a saleman throw an item being returned across the room in pure rage and the customer was in tears!! The scene was so insanely bizarre and horrifying to watch that it literally made me sick and I, along with some other customers, walked out in a hurry. I recently visited the store while on vacation, the weekend before Thanksgiving and received excellent service. There were several sales going on, and I purchased a few different items, one of which needed to be order and shipped from another location. The Assistant Manager, Eddie, not only placed the order for me, but also offered to have my other items shipped to me, so that I didn't have do worry about traveling with them. I had scoured the Internet for a new bedspread for our master bedroom and finally found what I wanted on Pottery Barn's website. I had several questions I still wanted answered, though, before I placed my order. So what do you when you are on vacation? You visit Pottery Barn, of course! From the moment I entered the store, Anna gave me her undivided attention. We 'connected' and I quickly discovered she was very knowledgeable about bedding. All of my questions were addressed with her professional assurance. After my order was placed, I asked about paint colors that would complement the new bedding. Al and Greg were pulled into our growing group. They were able to quickly recover the names and #'s of two colors of paint used in one area of the store. I left the store with a confirmed bedding order and several 2016 SW Paint Palette cards. I was so pleased my husband and I had traveled over 2,000 miles to find THIS TEAM in Palm Desert. If there is zero star I will rate this place for. We are in the store with 2 kids and the kids was talking a bit loud in the store. There is a worker there name L?? ( not sure) came by to my nephew and point his finger on his face and said I need to be quit. Seriously??? After my sis left the store and she told me about the man kick them out the store, I went back to the store and talk to the worker and he told me u think is appropriate to have ur kids here been loud and use out bathroom?? Wow... we didn't even use the bathroom at all and we try to quit the kids down too. How can u point the finger at the kid only 4?? He just walk away and ignore me. OMG!!! Worse place ever. After I work out the store and we went to the store manager to talk to him about it, this is not how They should handle the situation at all. Customer service people.
