We bought 4 twelve week old hens a couple months ago and we're assured they were all hens. Fast forward to now and we have 3 roosters and 1 hen. Plus, the hen and one rooster have bad legs and are in antibiotics. Hundreds of dollars later the vet is not optimistic they will survive. Very disappointed and sad. I'd give zero stars. read more

It has been a year since I've been there and looking fwd to a trip next week possibly. I've gotten several chickens there in the past, and am very happy with them. They are great layers. She claimed she was great at sexing chickens, and they weren't tiny babies. I told her I am in the suburbs and need hens one she said was a rooster I said ok ill take him anyway maybe he won't be too loud, another she said wasn't sure all the rest she said were pullets. Spent 155 dollars and I have out of 11 chickens, 8 roosters and 3 hens. If she is great at sexing, then she just sold me all her roosters to get rid of them at big prices. Her dogs were scary and I saw a dead chicken as we drove off after I had already bought them. Get them from a respectable hatchery, don't buy here read more

The first thing I noticed was that the animals are neglected and abused. They also did not update their inventory, so I drove an hour and a half and they did not have any chicks. Very disappointed with the way the animals were treated here :( read more

We purchased a dozen chicks the other day from poultry hollow to add to our older hens as they are slow in laying these days. They were all happy and healthy. They have done well this far and we make sure temp for them in their box is doing just fine. They can move to under it or furthur away to be comfortable. All are active and eating and drinking well. They are about 3 weeks old. Anyone getting chicks that have not had them before should educate themselves well beforehand so they are doing the proper job in caring for them. read more

When I started my flock, I started with all chickens from Poultry Hollow. Unfortunately, just before they reached laying age, they began to die off. I took the deceased birds to the state lab in Nashville for necropsy. It was determined they died of Merick's disease. This is a very contagious disease spread though the feather dander. Any chickens I have or will have in the future will be exposed to this disease and may die. It is not surprising to find Merick's a Poultry Hollow. It is basically a puppy mill for birds. There are dead birds, piles of feces and birds being kept in unlit rooms in her barn with no windows, sunlight or ventilation. Judy is very nice and helpful, but I feel for the animals who live there and the people who bring a deadly disease home to their flock. read more

Love coming to Poultry Hollow Farms! It's always a wonderful experience and is highly recommended by many Nashville chicken "farmers". Judy and her team are very friendly and able to help you pick out the perfect chickens for your family...or your dinner table. There are a number of different breeds from which you can choose, all of which are regularly updated on her website under "inventory". Her inventory clearly states how old they are, so you can do your research about the ones that are of laying age before you go to the farm to pick up your birds. Those aren't always guaranteed to be there (they may have been sold!), but I found it to be fun to do a little research ahead of time. You also won't get the old hens that others try and sell when they're done laying. The spaces are well kept with plenty of room and fresh air. Make sure you bring cash! A couple of laying hens at their laying age will cost about $50. She also breeds red and blue heelers (not a puppy mill), ducks, geese, quail, guinea hens, doves, peacock, sheep, goats, and more. You'll also get to make friends with some calves and donkeys while you're there...a great experience for the whole family. read more

Called on Monday to make arrangements to purchase khaki campbell duck hens. She gave me an appointment on Thursday at 11:30 to pick them up. Arrived on Thursday after taking off a day of work, driving 1 1/2 hours one way and a half tank of gas to be told she had none. Not even an apology. The place was grown up with weeds and smelled. We have purchased in total 100 chickens, ginuea, and quail from Judy over the past 16 months. We have not lost a single chick or quail. We lost 4 ginuea, but that was to predators, as expected with free range birds. All our chickens and quail are healthy and laying. Do not purchase from this hatchery. They do not vaccinate their chicks. I purchased $130 worth of chickens in march of 2017, and out of the 27 purchased - only 20 remain. We believe that 5 of them passed from Coccidiosis, and the last Silkie we had passed from worms. Now one of our older laying Americaunas is showing symptoms of lethargy. We've kept the chickens seperated by a wire fence...and are now worried we will lose our entire flock. This is like a puppy mill...but for chickens. Very disappointed to say the least. My wife and I went to poultry Hollow to get some chickens and ducks. We had a warm reception from Judy, who showed us the farm and explained the varieties of chickens. She was very knowledgeable and answered all of our many questions, and supplied us with everything necessary for them, as we were new at this.
