She (owner) is worth getting to know because she lovingly raises her animals for us, the consumer. Nothing like knowing the family that raises your food. They also do CSA shares where you can buy a basket of vegetables (in season) from her every week. Her bacon is delicious, as well. Not too salty, not to sweet, cured with celery juice. Her food is amazing. If you can swing purchasing your food from local farmers, you really should. Food in grocery stores that are raised in feedlots have a lot of medication in them to keep disease down. I don't think this is a good idea for feeding your family. I think that clean food from local farmers is safer for you and your children, and your animals. Just an opinion. Know who raises your food. ^5

We had the banana pudding and peach cobbler and an ice cream. The ice cream was purchased separately, so we got it immediately. But it took at least 20 minutes for the pudding and cobbler. At one point, I jokingly said to my daughter "are they making it right now"...and they I think they were. The vanilla wafers on the sides and bottom were crunchy, not soggy. It is one of the better banana puddings I've had lately. Definitely recommend it! The cobbler was warm but not what I was looking for. At my request they deboned the meat and use no saws and cutting of steaks or bones so there is zero bone fragments or marrow on my elk. Walkers butcher block (previously known as the Lebanon locker) has my complete trust now and actually saved my ass when I had to travel unexpectedly on the day I was going to process my own meat. They took in my beautiful idaho harvest (6x6) at the last minute and turned it around immediately. There are a number of different breeds from which you can choose, all of which are regularly updated on her website under "inventory". Her inventory clearly states how old they are, so you can do your research about the ones that are of laying age before you go to the farm to pick up your birds. Those aren't always guaranteed to be there (they may have been sold!), but I found it to be fun to do a little research ahead of time. You also won't get the old hens that others try and sell when they're done laying. The spaces are well kept with plenty of room and fresh air. Make sure you bring cash! A couple of laying hens at their laying age will cost about $50. She also breeds red and blue heelers (not a puppy mill), ducks, geese, quail, guinea hens, doves, peacock, sheep, goats, and more. You'll also get to make friends with some calves and donkeys while you're there...a great experience for the whole family.
