    Shrimp croquet and cheese.
    Maitrayee D.

Ordered shrimp croquette and cheese . Shrimp was very good . Not to crazy about the cheese . Then we ordered pica pao . Bit too salty for us . Ordered coriander rice. Was good . Octopus tempura was good came with a spicy mayo . Fado singers there were three . The lady singer didn't have much vibrato. But towards the end she sang really good . Liked the two instrumental players . They also charge you $4.00 each for the two instrumentalists . Overall a good experience. Our total bill was 50.00 euros . Different kind of experience it's a must for those who are visiting Lisbon .

Another hidden gem in Lisbon! Upon a friend's recommendation, we decided to experience a local tradition on a Friday night. Be sure to make a reservation for 8pm for the local fado performance! You're able to order tapas dishes before the show starts, and only during the 2-3 breaks once it has begun. The 4 dishes were pretty tasty overall, all washed down with a dark beer, but the highlight of the night was definitely the fado performance. The atmosphere was quite cozy inside for a more personal experience, a sharp contrast to the bustling and lively streets outside on a Friday night.

    Feijoada!

Came here during my solo trip to Lisbon. I was in search for an authentic Portuguese dish and I found one here! I had a dish called Feijoada which is a bean stew with meat. inordered a side of rice which was so buttery and good! I had mine with calamari and it was delicious! The staff was amazing and helpful! This establishment is located right in the popular pink street, so it is easy to find. There is outdoor seating, which was wonderful for me since the weather was nice (and also great for people watching haha). I came during the day so it wasn't busy. Love this place and would definitely return when I am back in Portugal! @therichaunt

Braised cod, superb! And such a generous portion for about 10€

Heck yes, this is how you start a vacation. We read about Povo in the NYT Travel section, and it totally delivered on the promise of being a laid-back spot with creative Portugese food and great people watching on this happening pedestrian street. It feels moderately hipster, not too touristy, and very inviting. Grab a spot on the sidewalk patio, and sip some caipis, indulge in some melty local cheese, and order anything with cod. Their version was braised to succulent perfection, more like a steak than a filet. Prices were super reasonable, and portions were generous. When lots of Lisbon spots have you cooped up inside, it's refreshing to chill al fresco while enjoying some Portugese staples. While it doesn't have the waterfront views that other spots offer, it does have a cool back-alley vibe with plenty of foot traffic to feel exciting. I'd go back to Povo in a heartbeat!

Nice ambience for a gathering with friends or a date. The Bacalhau a Brás and Octopus salad tastes good. The sandwich is not surprising but overall we have very nice experience.

The octopus salad could have been perfect by Portuguese standards but it wasn't my cup of tea.

Pastries de Bacalhau - the crust was not brown enough. May be longer time. The stuffing was flavorful but it's more the cod taste than the flavored mash potatoes which I prefer. I actually prefer the other local restaurant I tried the night before better. Caldo Verde - The potatoe part of the soup is great. Perfect viscosity but the flavor is not. It wasn't salty enough but more importantly is the flavor of the veggies and the spicy sausage they supposed to use that makes the soup taste different. Grilled giant pawns - The flavor of the prawns is not as intense as expected and hope to be. The squid ink pasta also lacked of flavor. That's disappointing. With the prawns, they should at least use the prawn shell to make sauce for the pastas. The pasta was tasteless, didn't even use enough garlic and olive oil to flavor it up. Seafood rice - Another disappointment. They used fish, small mussels and little bit of shrimp pieces along with some bigger whole shrimps and mussels. However, the rice was lack of the true seafood flavor that made from shell fish. They also added cilantro which overwhelmed the whatever left of seafood flavor. The lemonade was not a sweet lemonade but sour. Fyi. It's not fair we just went to another restaurant in the neighborhood and everything was so much better but people should know.

The fact that my husband and I got there before anyone else came, allowed us to have the most amazing conversation with the staff that works there!! Faysal greeted us and was very welcoming! Like most restaurants in Portugal you start with bread, cheese, and olives. The cheese was very smooth and the olives tasted fresh. Everything from start to finish was absolutely wonderful. For my meal, I went with Açorda de Camarão, which is a bread porridge with shrimp. I jokingly referred to this dish as "Portuguese shrimp and grits". ;) The blend of flavors and seasonings was absolutely amazing. While eating the dish, I told my partner that I could eat this dish everyday and even twice on Sunday. In fact, the next day when were having having some trouble deciding on a place to have dinner, I was like let's go back to the place that has "Portuguese shrimp and grits". ;) If you are hungry, this is the place for you because the portions were huge for the price. After eating my Açorda de Camarão for lunch, I wasn't hungry again until well into the late evening - even after walking around Lisbon for most of the day. Another delicious part of our lunch - the grilled octopus. In my opinion, the octopus was perfectly grilled and seasoned with a chewy, but not too chewy, texture. I thought the prices were reasonable, especially considering the restaurant is located in a very touristy part of town. The restaurant has a nice outdoor dining area where you can enjoy your delicious food and wine while enjoying the hustle and bustle of Lisbon. I thought service was fine. Although our waiter was not the friendlies of characters, he wasn't flat out rude. When I visit Lisbon again, this restaurant (in particular the Açorda de Camarão) will definately be on my "must do" list.
