We have 2 Neapolitan Mastiffs who arent the most trusting breed but the staff there are great at listening to parents regarding the dogs temperament which is very important to those who own breeds like mine. I have been using Dr Field for about 3 yrs and my pups love her, but today we saw Dr Kang who was wonderful as well. I am very holistic with my guys and this practice has been respectful of my preferences which is greatly appreciated. As a training professional I recommend this practice all the time. They are friendly and easy to communicate with (even when parents are high stress like during the restrictions!) They have also accomodated us several times fitting us in for short notice urgent appointments, which was the case for todays visit. IMO PMAH is one of the best vet practices in the area! read more

I had a wonderful experience with my two dogs at Powder Mill Animal Hospital and would gladly recommend this as a great vet clinic. We needed an international travel health certificate and they had appointments within a week, which other Boston-area vets did not have. The vet Dr. Kang and assistant were very kind and loving with my dogs, and the dogs seemed really comfortable. They also provided really detailed follow up notes via email after the visit, which I haven't gotten from other vets. I was impressed with the level of professionalism and attention to detail. Worth the drive from Boston! We live minutes from Angell Memorial Hospital, but choose to take our cat to Dr. Field at Powdermill Animal Hospital. We love them for a few reason. Availability & Hours. For the last two times, when I tried to call Angell to get a same week appointment, I've been asked to book 2+ weeks out. When I have a kitty that's having tummy problems, the last thing I want to do is to wait another two weeks. The team at PAH got me in the same day. Quality of Care. I've been there for two appointments now, one for my cat's spay surgery and another for a GI issue. For my spay surgery, the team was able to send my kitty home with me the same day, to minimize her stress. And for all appointments, they send an immediate follow-up recap of the visit with a follow-up call same day/next day depending on the care needed. Competitive Rates. Call around, you will not find better value than the care you will receive at PAH. From routine care to surgery, I've found them to be exceptionally competitive. Facilities. Amazing vet office! My dog's paws because swollen on a Saturday night, and by Sunday morning he was refusing to eat or drink water. His regular vet is not opened on Sundays, and after a quick online search I found Powder Mill, which was open. Everyone who works at this vet office is so kind, caring and compassionate. Powdermill Animal Hospital is a great addition to our community. I brought my dog Tippy for a check up just recently. The facility is new and so clWe were promptly greeted and warmly welcomed into an examination room. Normally, I have to assist with holding my dogs when I go to the vet's office, but here it was taken care of professionally. Dr. Field was knowledgeable about current research and presented me with options for medication I had not previously known about. Everyone was delightful. Powder Mill is amazing. I had to take my cat in as he was having difficulty breathing, and he was extremely well cared for. He got therapy in an oxygen cage, medication, and diagnostics to determine that his problems stemmed from a heart condition. Dr. Field went through the work to call multiple locations to try to get him a same-day appointment with a cardiologist. As they weren't available, she was able to get me an appointment for the next day, with instructions of where I could take him for emergency care if he worsened, and medication to make sure that he was treated in the interim. Her and her staff were friendly and helpful, and they go that extra mile to make sure that their patients get the best care possible. On a Friday night my precious companion started exhibiting strange symptoms and by 5:15 am on Saturday he was in full blown distress. Neither of us had slept well and he was yelping and drooling and in obvious extreme pain. I was in a panic. Now PMAH does not open until 8 on the weekends (point 1: what vet is open at all on the weekends?). But I called anyway and left a message because I just didn't know which emergency room to bring him to and they had all his records, so I had to at least let them know what I planned to do. Can you believe that Dr. Field actually CALLED ME BACK AT 5:30am?? (point 2: seriously, whose vet does that?) She was able to calm me down, ask some pointed questions and squeeze me in as soon as they opened if I felt we could just wait 2 hours. It felt like an eternity but I figured waiting in an emergency room at a strange vet hospital would've taken just as long. So that's what we did. Her staff is equally amazing. Cheerful even early on a Saturday morning. Helpful and understanding even though I was in tears and freaking out. They ran all diagnostics and even humored me by taking a few extra xrays just to "make sure" and sent us home with pills and reassurance that it was not fatal. They followed up at noon (point 3: they actually followed up twice over the weekend and Dr. Field actually read my email updates to their email box and replied to them within an hour each time which I never expected. Who does that? Not a single vet in my experience has EVER done that). On Sunday when I felt he still had not improved they AGAIN took me in immediately and without a prescheduled appointment and no questions asked. This time he actually perked up when we arrived because he knew not to be scared of them and it seemed like the entire staff was helping calm ME down more than my dog. That's a true sign of compassionate care (and is true of both human doctors and vets), it's an amazing bedside manner along with first class care, and true concern for their patients that makes this place outstanding and the people who run it real heroes in my eyes. I've brought my chinchilla, skink, and dog in and each of them were given thorough, gentle, and expert check ups and treatment. Before I discovered Dr Field, I was always got the feeling that the vets seeing my exotics had a general understanding of the animals but weren't experts by any means. Now I leave every appointment confident that I have the best information I can get on my animals' health and care. We have three chihuahuas and have been going to PAH since it opened. We came to PAH because our vet was going part-time with her growing family (completely understandable), and we were having trouble ourselves (getting old) driving 20 miles for appointments. With PAH, we continue to be amazed at the work ethic and up-to-date knowledge about small details, like no-preservative preventative care treatments and nutrition. The loving care by everyone with PAH is unsurpassed, and we have had pets for 45 years now, so we have been part of some great vet practices. Again and again, we are thoroughly impressed by everything that the practice offers. Our smallest chihuahua had an 3am ER visit at Angel West (tremendously grateful), without much improvement the next day. We called PAH, and on a thoroughly booked day, they managed to squeeze Fiona into the schedule to get her subcutaneous bag and reconfirm acute pancreatitis. Recently joining the practice, Dr. Kang--a chihuahua owner herself--knows that it doesn't take much for a 4 lb-er to get dehydrated, so we were incredibly grateful when we got a call within ten minutes of our call to bring her in ASAP. We love Dr. Field, and we are so happy that together the two doctors, along with their amazing staff, can work to bring the very best care to the animals of our community---which fill our hearts with so much love everyday. read more

We took our old cat in when the expensive vet in another town didn't seem to be helping. The vet here was very quick, efficient and friendly, and sorted out the problem with no fuss. She diagnosed something that the other place had missed, and prescribed the right treatment. She even called us a week later to see how things were going. We brought our three dumbo rats here for the first time. One of them was very sick and had to be euthanized and we were concerned the other two may have been infected as well. If I could give 10 stars I would. We started going to Powdermill about 6 months ago when we rescued a puppy. We shortly after brought home a new kitten and took him in as well. From day one, Dr. Field was so kind. She attention to detail with each pet is amazing. We unfortunately became frequent flyers in the coming months and were making weekly trips to the vet. Every single visit, Dr. Field took such good care of our babies, and made sure to explain everything in such detail to us. You can see how much she truly cares about her patients. We also got to know the staff at Powdermill and I have nothing but good things to say about each of them. Many times we would leave our visit confused or worried and when we would often call back for clarification or reassurance, we got just that! Just recently when we had to make the heartbreaking decision to put our kitten to rest, Dr. Field was there for us every step of the way. She helped us understand and let me cry to her on the phone.
