Terrible place to come if you want to feel included. Sensei seems nice at first, but then makes condescending remarks in a slick way to try to disguise his disrespect. He allows bullying from the hasidic jews to go unchecked. We have observed several of the jewish children mistreat children of other races and Sensei issued no corrections and allowed it to happen. Not a welcoming environment at all and very dissatisfied with the clear favoritism being shown. It's almost as if sensei is scared of saying something to the parents of the jewish kids. read more

My 6-year old son has been attending Little Ninja classes at Power MMA Krav Magra for 4 sessions now and I cannot say enough great things about the program and Sensei Yuri! The program promotes fitness, confidence and respect of oneself and others in a positive and fun learning environment and my son has thrived with each successive session. I have been so impressed with not only the Little Ninja program (which, as I mentioned, goes beyond karate and teaches respect of one's parents, healthy eating and exercise habits, discipline, etc.), but also with Sensei Yuri who has the unique ability to pull the best qualities out of each student. His way of teaching is one that is fun, but treats each student regardless of age as one who must give and must receive respect. He is not afraid to expect the best of each student, and the students thrive! I'm excited for my son to now go to the next level of classes and also for our family to check out the other offerings at the school. The school has fitness programs for men, women and children (such as self defense, dance, piyo, etc.) and it's worth mentioning that many of the classes are sensitive of the needs of Orthodox students. While we are not Jewish/Orthodox, it is heartening to me that a student who is more comfortable with a male or female only teacher/class can choose that, or they can choose a unisex option depending on their comfort level, religious requirements, etc. There's lots of parking and the hours are great, with late hours and weekend hours for people who work/have school. Definitely check out a trial class at this school! The skills learned at Krav magra are not just for show--they are supremely useful for self defense and I think a great option for anyone of any age interested in martial arts. read more

We enrolled our son and he lasted only a few months because of a whole slew of issues. There were several things that happened which led to this rating. When we enrolled our son, we were told it didn't matter what he wore. A few months of being there, we bought our son a new black ghi from Amazon. When he went to class wearing it, Sensei Yuri questioned him about it in front of the class, making our son feel awkward. We also witnessed a hasidic Jewish child slap a Spanish child extremely hard across the face and there was no correction whatsoever. We caught it on camera because it was during our son's yellow belt award. Sensei Yuri just laughed it off instead of correcting the jewish child and making him apologize. He never notified the Spanish child's parents of what happened. It was so loud and hard you can see the boys head snap back. Sensei Yuri also took the liberty of ordering sparring gear without permission or discussion of cost. When the equipment arrived, he questioned my husband about how we were going to pay for it. My husband was caught off guard because there had been no prior discussion and instead of embarrassing Sensei because there were other adults around, he said "I have to talk to my wife about that." When my husband told me how he was trying to force us to pay for something we never discussed or authorized, I had reached my breaking point. I called and there was no answer so I left a message. I also wrote an email telling him that I wished to cancel our contract. I told Sensei Yuri that it was wrong of him to try to charge us for something we never agreed to. In his response to me, he insulted my intelligence and responded with these exact words "I didn'\t try to charge you, i merely inquired as to the desired method of payment." Really?! Why would you ask about method of payment if you're not trying to collect payment?! He was extremely patronizing and conceited! If we had just allowed him to bill us for things we didn't approve first, what makes us think he wouldn't continue to do the same thing repeatedly? Every time we would walk in we would greet whoever was there (usually just hasidic people) and they would stare at us as if we were imposing on them. Never once did we feel welcomed by them and they made the atmosphere very uncomfortable for us by staring at us and not saying anything. This last thing I'm about to mention doesn't have to do with Power MMA but I feel is worth mentioning. Every time we went there our vehicle was lucky to make it out of there without getting hit. People drive through that parking lot like it's the Indie 500 and reverse for no reason when they could just go forward. If you go here make sure you have cameras in your car to record damage because these people are TERRIBLE! read more

I've intensely researched various martial arts studios in Rockland & New York City and I have to admit that Sensi Yuri and his Power MMA - Krav Maga school is the one I would recommend to any parent for their children. Sensi Yuri's approach to teaching is one that combines well balanced fun & learning environment with a good measure of discipline (emphasis on fun). I have enrolled my granddaughter and she loves it. She has been enrolled for over a year and has just recently told me that "I feel that Sensi Yuri is like my family, like my uncle". I mention this because we have a very close and tight knit family where we take our family ties very seriously and for us to consider someone "family" it is something we don't take lightly. It is a very safe environment where the children and the parents can approach the Sensi with any questions, doubts or thoughts regarding their child's progress and real life applications of techniques and philosophy of self defense. An example of this was when my granddaughter asked the Sensi how she should handle 2nd grade boys when they chase and grab the girls in school. He took the time to explain various scenarios and how to proceed in each case, always with a non-physical approach 1st (for the exact response I recommend you giving him a visit). I also like the fact that he is ALWAYS willing to give extra instructions after class as well as welcoming ANYONE to sit in on a class with no charge so they can see if it is the school for them.
