I found PowerCore last year and tried Pilates for the first time--and I've been going ever since. I started with Natalia's beginner classes and gradually worked my way up to her intermediate and advanced sessions. All of the instructors are amazing: welcoming, positive, and attentive. They take the time to correct your form, which I truly appreciate because form always comes first (weights second!). I've also taken classes with Jason, Erin, and Masha, and had great experiences with each of them. One thing I love is that every instructor offers options--light, medium, or more advanced "spicy" variations--so you can tailor each workout to your level. I can confidently say: book a class--you won't be disappointed. Bonus: the community here is incredible. People are genuinely friendly--I've made a few friends just from attending different classes, which says a lot about the atmosphere at PowerCore. read more

I'm glad to have discovered PowerCore through Groupon. I really enjoyed the opportunity to try different types of classes not just your typical reform pilates class. The teachers I had were great and would help make sure your form was correct. I gave 4 stars as it was super hard to get into a class on the weekend. I wasn't sure what time they release openings to try and snag a spot. I also wish the times Mon - Thur started at 6 after work like on Fridays. All in all hope to find a special to get more classes since it's just too pricy to buy more. read more

This is one of my favorite Pilates studios in LA. All of the instructors here are wonderful and so helpful. I love how they take the time to fix students' form. I also like how this studio is a lot less intimidating than other ones out there and they are welcoming to all skill levels and body types. The machines are in great condition and the studio itself is very clean. There is also a lot in the back you can access through the alley way. I've been coming here for years and I can honesty say I don't feel lazy or unmotivated when I have to take a class. I really enjoy the teaching style of several instructors (Annie, Carly, Erin, Jason and Danny) and they make the class very fun. They will accommodate you when it comes to positioning and will modify certain forms if it is needed. Parking is in the back through the alley, lot is small. Sometimes its difficult to park since the spots are tiny. Also, there is street parking in front. read more

What an amazing Pilates studio. So kind and accommodating. My partner and I are getting back into the swing of working out again - and we very much wanted to add Pilates to our routines. I initially did a "stop by" to simply visit the studio and feel the vibe. I was immediately impressed with the owner Jason, the studio, the parking (rare for this area to have ample parking), and of course the variety and sheer number of classes that they offer (something like 70 classes each week). Jason was also super welcoming to me as a Pilates beginner. My partner and I started with semi-private classes to get the "lay of the land", learn the machines and equipment, and slowly get back into our groove. Each of the instructors that we tried were wonderful. The most impressive thing about this warm, local studio is how laid back, inclusive, friendly and welcoming they are! I could hear this same sentiment echoed from other students when I was initially viewing the studio. Their dedicated parking lot is located behind the studio and is accessible off of Riverside - just turn down the alley next to the small dry cleaner. FYI - I just read another "reviewer's" blather regarding "how difficult" it was to contact the studio and how inferior their equipment was. What total rubbish. Natalia and Jason have texted us practically every day since we joined a month ago to help line up classes, match us with the perfect instructors, follow up to ask how our experiences were, call us to confirm semi-private sessions, and touch base with us via call or text if they had classes open up that we were interested in. Their machines are top of the line and kept in immaculate shape. Parking is super easy, certainly ample and their class prices are competitive. Pure love. Five stars for some of the instructors (mostly Erin). 0 for the establishment. I understand you have a late cancel policy, but when someone is literally in the hospital with a dying family member and sends pictures to prove it, you make an exception. And you don't lie and say you will make an exception and then take the class away anyways, and then make them feel guilty that you have to pay your teachers anyways. I know for a fact at 1pm you were able to fill the class from the epic waitlist. They said they would forgive the class on 3/28, then took off the class of my pass anyways. Luckily Erin teaches at club Pilates and also luckily there are a million different Pilates studios in the neighborhood. After she was in the hospital I asked them to remove me from the recurring schedule- they didn't and continued to charge my account. Oh and the other time I had COVID. Sorry I didn't want to infect the class, next time you get covid make sure to come to Pilates and give it to all the instructors and classmates. Makes sense. Regarding the response - unfortunately just not true. Never no showed, I asked them to take me off the schedule and I guess they never did. Nice try though! The response is just as compassionate as the original texts were. And yes I didnt call you back because I don't want to frequent an establishment like yours. I don't care if you offer me free classes to take down a bad review. Also, I am not mistaken in the dates. You can see them being applied to my class packages right here in the picture. This review is for customer service here and all I can say is, yuck. I purchased a Groupon for 10 classes right before Covid started and by the time gyms were allowed to reopen, my Groupon had expired. I reached out to PowerCore asking if they were open and mentioned my Groupon. They got back to me (after I sent a second email when the first was ignored) saying they didn't think Groupon would allow me to redeem since it was technically expired. I reached out to Groupon and two different people told me that I could get an extension on any groupons that expired during the time of government mandated shutdowns. They said that the merchant would have redeem it manually on their end. The city wasn't allowed to operate so you'd think that would be obvious. I told PowerCore this and they told me that Groupon told them something different and that I couldn't redeem and only could use a credit of what I paid for towards their full price classes. They tried making me a "deal" by saying she'd allow me to get 7 classes under their new client special instead of the 10 that I purchased from Groupon. I tried to compromise and ask for 8 since it really wasn't fair for me to take any less than what I purchased. I know covid has been tough on everyone, and I acknowledged that, but I still purchased what I purchased. I got radio silence after my compromise so I had to get a refund from Groupon due to PowerCore's poor service and refusal to redeem a Groupon that I never legally had an opportunity to use. Their lack of customer service and greed is just not it. They may treat someone right if they are paying full price, but if you're trying to use one of THEIR deals, they want nothing to do with you. read more

I feel obligated to share my highly concerning and negative experience with PowerCore Pilates with others who are seeking a safe and therapeutic pilates experience. In short, I must warn people that in my opinion, this is no longer a safe place to do actually do real pilates. The background is that I attended this pilates studio for a few years given the class schedule and location. Class quality differed depending on the instructor, but overall this was a decent place to go - and I must credit some of the friendlier instructors who put a lot of energy into their classes. My concern is one of safety and related to confrontation with the owners of PowerCore Pilates. After what I believed was an amicable understanding after months of what I felt was harassment, the owner of the studio unilaterally canceled my membership - adding further insult to injury. What was the dispute all about? Socks of all things. In essence, I was kicked out of this studio because I was unable to comply with a strange and misguided policy (mind you a policy that was apparently introduced after I first started to attend the studio) that required everyone who works out there to wear socks. PowerCore claims that they feel socks make things more sanitary and help people feel safe. Not that there is anything that can't stick to socks that stick to the bottom of your feet, but that is beside the point for PowerCore. They probably want to reduce cleaning time at their studio and perhaps reduce the wear and tear on their equipment to save costs. Despite attempts to market them as otherwise, most socks are slippery (even if a marketing person puts "grip" in the product's) name - and many people (like me) who do pilates are doing it specifically because of balance and foot issues. In other words, slipping is a risk. I tried doing pilates with socks before, but I found it to be incredibly unsafe for me - given the potential to slip when doing rapid motions - and how I was unable to mentally connect with what my feet muscles were doing when standing, etc... In short, I found that like many other people out there - being forced to wear socks while doing therapeutic exercise was a serious liability and risked injury. I explained all of this to PowerCore Pilates several times, and I was dismissed and insulted even though the owner conceded that indeed there could be a safety issue when doing pilates with socks. How was I insulted? Well on at least a few occasions instructors who were told to enforce the 'sock policy,' interrupted class to rudely comment on my lack of socks - even though I had discussed the situation with the owners. This was embarrassing and humiliating, and in my opinion shows a misguided protection for arbitrary business policies over customer service or professionalism. I also understand that in today's post-pandemic world, there is a lot of fear around communicable diseases. I don't want people to misinterpret this situation as being related to masking or similar precautions. I fully cooperated with the masking requirements and have at least half a dozen COVID-19 vaccine shots at this point. I fully support practical, intelligent measures to keep people safe. I also point to the fact that since pilates was invented in the 1920s, people have been doing pilates for 100 years safely (and mostly without socks)! When further pressed, PowerCore Pilates admitted that their concern was that if they allowed me to not wear socks, then other people at the studio may also not wear socks. This just proves how their policy really has no benefit for the clients and is entirely about a misguided and frankly wrong perception that socks somehow increase safety. If you want to wear socks during pilates go for it, but if you don't because you understand that actual therapeutic pilates is about connection and working small muscles, then you will probably want to avoid this studio and having to contend with the unjust insulted and harassment that I feel I was subject to by this business. My contention is that safe pilates cannot be practiced at PowerCore Pilates. While their policies may indeed stem from positive intentions, they are clearly more interested in protecting their gym equipment and enforcing arbitrary rules rather than providing an environment for people to heal their bodies and receive the amazing benefits that pilates can deliver. Unfortunately, if you are looking for serious and safe pilates, I must advise you to avoid this business. The good news is that Los Angeles has plenty of other pilates studios - and I look forward to being a client of a new one. Thank you to the freelance instructors at PowerCore Pilates for their enthusiasm and effort., A final stern rebuke to the misguided, mean, and irresponsible actions of Powecore Pilate ownership. I hope that no one else has to endure the unnecessary pain and stress they caused to an otherwise good client who spent thousands of dollars on their business. read more

I was nervous to try reformer Pilates because I'd never done it before and I wasn't super athletic, but the instructors made me feel so comfortable and safe. Now I look forward to my classes every week. The studio interior is bright and inviting and everyone is happy to be there. Easily one of the kindest studios I've ever been to in LA. I had a great first-time experience here tonight! I was greeted immediately by Natalia- I let her know I had a class pass registration and she welcomed me right in. I really liked her vibe, very kind and professional. I was STRUGGLING in class because I'm just recently getting back into physical fitness, but she made me feel comfortable. Which says a lot about her character because it can be frustrating when you're having a challenging time in class and need help, but she did a really good job. She was attentive and made sure the room was a comfortable temperature, the music was good, and she was patient and professional with everyone. Aside from Natalia being a great instructor and business owner, I liked the environment. It was clean and tended to. The class itself was so much fun, I'm already sore (in a good way). Overall I had a great time and would recommend it to anyone. I write all this even after reading the very few negative reviews, which honestly made me laugh because they're just silly. This is my first and only Pilates studio that I've been to but I love it! I originally bought a class package via Groupon pre-Covid but was only able to attend one class before everything shut down. Fast forward to about a month ago, I reached out to them via email got a quick response and they added the classes back to my profile, no issues at all. Amazing customer service! I've taken a number of their classes already, but by far my favorite class has been Total Body Burn with Carly! She's super high energy and great vibe! Took a class with Erin and loved it! Most of the class is on the reformer, but portions are also done standing with resistance bands. The movements in this class were much more similar to mat pilates classes I've taken in the past. The instructor was helpful and came over to assist a couple times when I was struggling with some of the moves. Just wish this studio had a water station! Was disappointed to find that they only sell water bottles, and had a wasteful bin of empty bottles outside the studio. read more

This is a great place and I had an awesome experience!!! I bought a Groupon for 5 pilates classes months ago. I was worried because I was busy and couldn't start my classes... The coupon was about to expire but when I called they understood the issue and were able to extend it. Whenever I called, Jasson was great in helping me to scheduled my classes in the system. I was new in the pilates world, so i booked my first class with Carly (sculpt + tone and she was great). Also, I took classes with Erin (sculpt + tone), Samantha (Arms, Abs & A$$) , and Guy (Total body burn). Everyone was amazing and really helpful with the equipment and technique. They have a lot of teachers and a lot of times for classes all week. Parking in the back is a little small and tricky but it was not a problem for me at all. I usually go to Pilates plus in Encino, but I wanted to try something closer to where I was running my errands unfortunately had so much trouble finding where this location was it's very dark and looks dull and empty so I could not find where this location was. Also when trying to contact the location to get directions to find the location I got no answer and called multiple times!! After looking at the pictures on yelp, I see you also have cheap equipment so I'm glad I couldn't find your place because I'll just stick to my normal Pilates place where they've got the expensive equipment rather than doing my work out on cheap equipment. Here's advice to the business owner of this location maybe change the color of your walls so people can find this place, get a receptionist who can answer during your business hours, and last upgrade your equipment. Here's a response to the "owner" who wrote back. My review is not bogus and it's not fabricated, it was my experience and opinion. I don't know what you're talking about with your time stamps. My experience with your studio was over the weekend and was in the afternoon. I never received a call back or a text. I had trouble finding where your studio was, it was very dark and dull. Nothing stood out. My opinion will not change. It was MY experience. Whether you agree or not with my statement it's my opinion so for you to tell me my opinion is fabricated doesn't make sense??? Keep in mind I didn't have to go inside your studio to know what your equipment looks like just in case you didn't know there is pictures of your equipment on this yelp.
