I was quoted 158 for this job the day prior over the phone and I confirmed at the start of the appointment if that would be the price. My brakes were in poor shape, missing a brake pad on one side and the mechanics spent an extra 15-20 mins working on my cylinder. At the end of the job, Chris informed me that they got air on the line and would have to bleed the brakes. (I've always had my brakes bled at the end of any brake job so this is standard for me to have done whenever I get my breaks done. They told me this would be an extra 120 dollars at the end of the job. My father is a mechanic and said that price was a little high just to bleed the brakes and was very familiar with the procedure. He told me "go call your dad and ask him to send you more money." When I asked if they could take 20 bucks off and knock the price down to 100 from 120 he asked me to tell him how old I was which I thought was rude and uncalled for. I told him I was 30 and he proceeded to say "wow you look 18" and said "one day you're going to have to learn that everything in life isn't free sweetheart." When I went to his office to pay he also said I'm going to have to buy him lunch because they spent extra time working on my car than they planned. Disgusting behavior. I would not recommend this shop to any woman (or really anyone) unless you want to be taken advantage of and upsold. They ended up bleeding one brake so my car would be somewhat drivable. My interior dashboard was also scratched up when I got my car back from them.

My local mechanic installed a JDM Ej20x engine as a replacement. It was in urgent need of a tune, and I tried about five shops in my area; however, none would agree to do the work on this engine. A local shop recommended After Hours Racing in Charlotte, NC, about a 1.5-hour drive away, and they agreed to perform the tune, provided they assess the engine is healthy enough. They gave the engine a thorough examination and determined that it was in excellent condition, but sadly lacked power. I told the tuner I would be scared to line up with an Impreza. The guys showed exceptional knowledge of Subarus. They also kept me updated throughout the process. The car's performance improved significantly, feeling smoother and more powerful! They told me it had roughly 250 WHP, which is about 300 CHP! This car is a daily driver, so they recommended the tune lean a bit on the conservative side for the sake of reliability. Their attention to detail and honest recommendations were appreciated. This is the shop to go to for any WRX or performance car. They are true experts!

They found that the shocks were installed incorrectly and one of the shocks was malfunctioning due to cheap parts. They were able to fix my car quickly with new OEM parts and with reasonable prices. I will be taking all my repairs back to After Hours Racing.

After I had it towed to Almar, Frank called me back & asked if I had seen the car, which was strange since I bought it new as a retirement gift for myself in 1995 just before retiring from the Marine Corps. Frank said that the car had a broken mirror and a bad tire, etc. Basically, he refused to install an engine. I asked Almar to install an engine, not tires or mirrors. I guess my car didn't meet Frank's standard. Another dealer will install the engine for $900.00 cheaper. Thanks, Almar.
