This place was great until 1/1/18 All legalization did is jack up the taxes for medical patients. I use marijuana for medical reasons every day. I will not be purchasing it from herbal cruz any longer. If you voted for legalizing marijuana you screwed us all. Paying $20+ for a gram is way to high. I bought an1/8 and a pack of papers and it was $70 before a tip. Sorry guys you may get more recreational customers but you lost me and I'm sure many others. This place has the best prices in town, hands down. They have an awesome selection of everything under the sun cannabis-related and likely something in everyone's price range. The service is usually prompt and satisfactory, and I love that you can order online and have it ready to pick up sometimes in as short as 10-20 minutes (it's pretty rare for it to take longer than that!). There is typically a very short wait time, unless you're coming around lunch time at which point it may take a while. Two times I tried going on my lunch break, both times were a lot longer wait than the normal wait. The only complaints I have are minimal.. Customer service can be hit or miss depending on who is working that day. I also don't like that they do NOT have samples open so you can see what the bud looks and smells like before buying (as most other shops do). They also do not have all of their product on their site for ordering, which is a little annoying but definitely not a dealbreaker. Otherwise, Herbal Cruz is awesome and is pretty much the only place I go to anymore for herb. Give them a go! read more

Over the last year and a half that I have shopped exclusively at Herbal Cruz I have been disappointed a few times from their lack of service. (I'll also admit that I have had some great experiences there and the majority of employees are awesome.) There are a few isolated instances of disappointment. I find out that everybody's reward points are no longer valid. I had a lot of points that I was saving up! Not to mention it came without sufficient warning. They said that they had "signs up" around the facility. Hey guess how easily a text could've been sent out? They sure text they're sale adds all the time. I used to frequent this shop because it's nearby and the prices were comparable. It was hit and miss on the quality of the bud tenders but supporting a small biz was the plan. Since recently changing ownership, the window shades opened, the products are re arranged but the prices! They're higher than they used to be and the competition is fierce. I had to pick up some Ruby Slippers for a friend's birthday gift and no one else in town had it but Herbal, when I got to the store it was early enough that I qualified for their daily discount. Tanja was so helpful in finding the jars of Ruby for me, even letting me pick out which ones I wanted, Then I got to get some joints for myself, it was honestly a great visit all around. I had a very disappointing experience here... I used my medical card here before recreational use became accepted, years ago. When I went in to redeem over a thousand points of "rewards" on the last Friday of the month, my salesperson said I could not redeem my points on a "Sale" day... So I returned 6 days later to redeem my points, which I had been accumulating for months. So I returned 6 days later, only to be told " we discontinued rewards points on December 31st. I asked why my salesperson didn't mention this to me 6 days previous, when apparently, they had already decided to not honor years long customers, saying " tough luck", basically. Senior discounts also went away... Same owner, and my 2 questions: Why didn't they send out a text, stating this new policy? They send out a lot of texts featuring " special's" "customer appreciation day, free bbq texts, discount days.... The final insult, as I got in my car to leave, (my last visit) I got a text saying " you earned 37 reward points just now" ?!?!?! ( after being told they couldn't honor my points from the previous year because "the rewards software is not available anymore to process your points" Then why did this " deleted" text come through on SOME software. 2 is only for 2 really nice employees. read more

I've been going to Herbal Cruz for several years now and since the New Year this place SUCKS! Their already jacked up prices just went up even more, selection is down, and the overall attitude of their employees' is poor. They no longer have good discounts and the early bird discount they do have, half the time is not applied at checkout. Having to remind staff of a discount policy that is clearly posted in their store, is unprofessional and negligent. Also, I get that they are budtenders, but do they have to be THAT high? I like to be able to have a clear, somewhat coherent conversation with a store employee, not look at them struggle with cottonmouth and blazing red eyes. I believe there is a happy medium, maybe a mint and Visine? In general, unless you want to feel like you've been ripped off by your friend's older brother (when weed wasn't legal), don't shop here. I've tried this place a few times over the last year or so and always had good experiences, but on my last visit I was beyond disappointed. Everything went fine until I tried the product later that evening. I am one of those who heavily relies on the expertise of the sales associates and am pretty clear and detailed in what I'm looking for. This last time I thought I was getting THC drops that I can directly take orally without mixing in any drinks, the clerk tried selling me on some drink stuff and I explained that is the one thing I can't take is anything I need in a beverage because the flavor really bothers me and basically I hate it. Later that night I go to put some drops in my mouth and omg I thought my mouth would never stop burning it was so potent and intense of a flavor, look at the package that state: use in water, tea, juice or your favorite recipe, it was cannabis infused herbal tincture not tech drops like I asked for. Basically around 30-40 bucks thrown away. I guess now I know better and will be clearer and read everything before I buy it read more

I love Herbal Cruz. They helped me pick a VERY good tincture high in CBD's low in THC for my 84 year old father. He had RA, COPD, and congestive heart failure. Prescription drugs where horrid on his body, made him loopy and he fell and broke his arm.....FAST forward 4 years after he started medicinal marijuana. He lived a mostly pain free life, breathed much easier, and was a pure delight to be around. Not at all what vicodin did to him. I am very happy that Herbal Cruz was there for him. He passed away October 7, 2015 in a much more comfortable state that ANY other pain reliever gave him. read more

I was super stoked to try this place out.. I had looked up their online menu and I'm super into edibles and other various topical products. I brought a girlfriend with me around noon on a saturday... the empty parking lot should have been some sort of indication but we ventured into part one of the building ... no music but there was a tv blasting a show the girl was watching... weird but ok . When we do go into their "shop" we met our tender. I do not remember her name, but she had pink hair. Maybe it's me but as the only Two customers in the entire shop - I would think you would show a bit of interest in actually helping us. Instead it felt awkward and like we were bothering her . I ended up spending quite a bit of money because yes their edible section is pretty rad, but they are about 5 dollars more expensive per item than my reg shop. All in all I'd say the shop is awesome selection but there are better in Santa Cruz . And with wayyyy friendlier staff who chat it up and make the whole Transaction social and enjoyable read more

In the past I have generally really enjoyed this place, but today Caroline waited on us and I am so tired of rude people in customer service. ESPECIALLY considering it's a dispensary... does it not seem like a bit of an oxymoron for bud tenders to be so rude? You'd think they'd be more chill and actually try to get you psyched about what you're buying but she just made it uncomfortably tense. Super short with me and even snapped "NO TOUCHING" when I slightly put my hand near the jar to get a closer look because she was OF NO HELP when I was interested in something, but when my boyfriend asked about anything her voice and attitude completely changed and it was so awkward and obvious. I honestly thought it was just my perception until we walked out and he mentioned, "Wow what was that about? Why was she so rude to you?" So clearly I wasn't the only one feeling the tension. And I even complimented her shoes before we went in... Not that I'm expecting a hook up for a compliment but come on, some decent service with maybe half a smile is the least you could do. Not even worth writing a crazy long review about, but the principal remains-- she left a bad taste in our mouths, and we won't go back for a while, if ever, considering their prices are super jacked up and now I have to uncomfortably deny a specific employee if I were to get her as a tender again. I came in for some good meds on waxy Wednesday expecting a decent deal; the only deal was if you spent a hundred you could get 4 grams for a hundred plus tax. Unlike C.H.A.I's waxy Wednesday where all the concentrates are discounted 25% off, simple. I picked up some rosin and this is what really turned me off from this club. I looked at all the rosin and picked out which one looked good, Gods Gift $30 a gram, it looked like some nice shatter and very stable on display. However, when I opened up my meds at home it was butter, seeping out of the wax paper and into the envelope. Terrible consistency and not what the display looked like. I went to C.H.A.I and my needs my were satisfied; I got more potent medication for a way better price. And no tax. Also the bud tender tried to make me sound like I didn't know anything about concentrates, but in reality I think I knew more than he did because he brushed off some questions I had about the process of some of the concentrates. The first thing that really threw me off was the sign on the computer that says "Please only take 5 minutes" I take WAY longer than 5 minutes to pic out my medicine. But once I was on the dispensary floor I never felt pressured by staff to rush so that's good. I wish they had a woman on staff though. It is hard to get advice on what will work for me from someone who cannot relate to any female related symptoms. But the guys were all really nice and helpful. The medicine isn't that great. and I'm pretty sure a lot of the strains aren't what they say they are, and most of it looks like outdoor. It's cool how you can mix an eighth though. read more
