It was the first time I had been there and was not aware (until asking later after sitting around for a while) that we needed to order our food at the bar. After ordering the food started coming out pretty quickly for my friends and they were able to eat. However mine was taking a long time so we asked the waitress about it and she said she would find out. Well she did find out but never came and let us know, instead she attended to other tables and we had to go ask her again. Apparently the cook burned my food and had to start over (that would have been nice to know ahead of time because I would have asked for it in a to go box). By the time I did get my food my friends were all starting to leave so I asked the waitress for a to go box and instead of getting me one she attended to the other tables so we had to ask again for one. My friend who asked her for one the second time said the waitress didn't seem very friendly about it and more acted like it was an inconvenience. The food was good (when I finally got to eat it back at home). Some courtesy would have been nice and would have made the experience better but sadly I did not get that during my time there.

I love Italian food, so the family and I went to North Italia for Father's Day…read more It was busy but not overly crowded and we were able to get seated promptly. We started our meal with the white truffle bread appetizer and it was phenomenal. Lots of garlic, of course, and a great truffle flavor (one of my favorites). We also had the calamari appetizer with an aioli and house-made marinara. Both sauces were fantastic and I was grateful that the calamari were all rings, no tentacles. One of my pet-peeves is calamari with a bunch of dry, meatless tentacles added to fill up the plate. The entrees were absolutely delicious. I had the smashed meatball ragu which had an abundance of meat and great flavor. My wife had the "Sunday Lasagna" and is still talking about how good it was a week later. And, coming from an Italian lady who makes a crazy-good lasagna, that is a HUGE complement. We ended with a Tiramisu, my go to at any Italian restaurant, and it was creamy, full of espresso flavor and worth having again. I see that some reviews are talking about slow turn times in receiving their food. We have noticed, in the times we have come, that it does take some time to get our food but, when you see one of the cooks rolling out their homemade pasta in the kitchen, you give grace. Last thing. I cannot end without mentioning our waitress. She was beyond good at making us feel welcome and being prompt, responsive and a joy to interact with. Her name was Ashley and, if you get to be at one of her tables, you will be in for a treat. North Italia is a great choice for lunch or dinner if you are willing to sit back, relax and experience some of the freshest, most-flavorful food in the Meridian area.

Service is terrible, Very selective with who they are nice to. Will keep it short with you,…read moredisregarding questions. Fake smile and will take forever to get to your table. If you are a table of one they don't care for you, if you have a child with you they almost seem so annoyed serving you. Like "done and over with" behavior. Manager very rude. Almost has a sassy judgmental personality where no matter your positive feedback for the food and how pretty it is inside it doesn't overcome the dismissive reaction he gives to you.

Spoiler alert--It is all that! Our server shared that it is a mainstay on the menu and how it is presented changes with the season. For our visit it was served with a rice salad. TBH, I would have licked the plate if I could. Also, I wish I could have finished every thing and picked at the bone. OMG Amazing. The restaurant itself is beautiful. Great build out, quiet--great place to have good dinner conversation. Service was outstanding. Wine list was solid. My only regret is that I wish I would have gone with a larger party so we could split dishes and try more. I can't wait to go back.

Here's some food review: The steak tartar lacked salt. But the flavor and quality of the beef was good. The duck fat potato didn't come with the trout caviar on top. It was crispy on the outside. Mush on the inside. The sauce lacked salt and needed more of a flavor punch. The curry snapper needed more curry taste but the dish was cooked very well. The duck confit was just okay in my opinion. Again, lacked salt again. The duck was fall of the bone tender but was placed on top of a miclx of mushy lentils and salad, not my jam. The ribeye was cooked well but in my opinion, a steak shouldn't be presented already cut. Would I go again? Yes. I'd take a date for a few cocktail and a nice meal. But did it wow me? Service wise. Yes. Food wise, meh.

I started to panic knowing the group would be coming from all parts of Boise and they would not know before trying to arrive there that it was closed. Well Kona Grill and the Manager Alexis came to the rescue I walked into Kona, explained the dilemma and without hesitation Alexis said I think we can accommodate our group. And accommodate us they did. I have to give a big, big, BIG shout out to Patrick and Trevor. They were masterful as our servers. The orders were taken quickly and brought out in a very timely way. Big groups I know can be taunted but Patrick and Trevor rode to the occasion. They were efficient, caring and totally in command all evening in taking and bringing out the orders and never complaining. Both were very pleasant, Professional and right there if we needed anything. It was a great evening and totally happy Kona could accommodate our group and as usual the food and happy hour appetizers were great

It took 45 minutes to get a kids meal out, appetizer didn't come out until after most of the entrees did, and as much as our server tried to hurry our meals up (watched her go back numerous times), nothing worked. How this place is still open is beyond me. I have finally had enough, and will not be back. Hopefully, some other restaurant comes in and kills it, great location. Don't waste your time or money. One Hospitality Group, might wanna work on your management training.
