Prairie Creek Vinyard's new location at 1600 16th St, Central City, NE
    Arizona B.

Prairie Creek Vineyards has expanded their winemaking out at their old location, so bought and renovated a cool new space in town. This review is of their new location. First off, I love the new space! It is light and airy, with huge windows and lots of exposed brick. There are a couple of areas upstairs too, but we didn't go up on this visit. My family walked in for Sunday Brunch on their first day open with this menu. They had not anticipated the HUGE response, so things were a little slow, but we didn't expect anything different from the first day with a new menu, new staff, and a new register/POS system. There were a few bumps here and there, but since we enjoyed the food and service at the old location, I have faith those bumps will be ironed out soon. They do ask now that people make reservations for Sunday Brunch to assure they are able to properly serve everyone. I started with a glass of sangria with a white wine base; it was sweet and lovely. A little amuse-bouche was delivered next, and it is a bit hard to describe: as if someone only put a tiny bit of batter in a waffle iron, or neatly sliced off just the crispy squares. Anyway, they were crispy and light and waffle-y, with a little powdered sugar on top. Lovely. I asked about "special orders" and was happy to hear that Prairie Creek has the kitchen set up for all sorts of dietary restrictions/requests. They can handle vegetarian, gluten free, nut free, and several other dietary requests. So good to know! My husband and kids all ordered waffles ($9 and $5). The portions were reasonable, not the massive portions one might be used to in the midwest. The waffles all came with fresh fruit on the side; on this summer day there were grapes, strawberries, watermelon, and cantaloupe. The fruit might sog up your waffle a little, so you might want to scoot it over. The waffles (I had a bite) were very tasty, flavorful and buttery without any topping. I ordered a breakfast burrito with no meat ($11). I'd recommend it. It was bursting with fluffy eggs, caramelized onions & potatoes, and fresh avocado. If I were to be picky, I'd like more spice in it, but I am a spice-mouth (I think some raw habanero on it would be excellent). All the food was served hot. They also offer Cowboy Quiche ($10), French Toast ($8), Steak & Eggs ($19), Corned Beef Hash ($13), Eggs Benedict ($11), and Biscuits and Gravy ($12) at brunch. They said the menu may change as conditions demand. The prices are a little high for the area, but the atmosphere and excellent service explain that. They have a nice looking dinner menu, too. When we go in for that, I will be sure to update my review!

The best thing about the restaurant was the server Britney. The only complaint is the extreme noise level. The food was better than good.

Excellent food. A treasure in Central Nebraska. Worth the drive from Omaha or Lincoln.
