I know most people get through pregnancy and labor without Prana classes and instructors, but I truly don't know how! I took weekly prenatal yoga classes with Sarah, Dee and Judi from 12 weeks right up until my water broke. Not only did these weekly sessions help with the physical afflictions that are inevitable with pregnancy (including my horrific sciatic pain), but they helped keep my mind in the right place and prepared me for labor in both body and mind. Hearing from and being around other pregnant women each week was comforting -- like a little mini pregnancy support group. I truly looked forward to these classes and still miss them today. Dee's Yoga for Labor class not only provided me with critical tips about how to ease the pains of contraction and pushing and keep my mind calm throughout labor, but gave my husband a sense of purpose and turned him into the most spectacular labor coach. The community that I found at Prana during pregnancy has become my mom community, too. We all have our babies now and support each other online and some still see each other in person, too. When I (hopefully) get pregnant again, I will be back for weekly classes! I can't say enough good things about Sarah, Dee and Judi. I attended the yoga for labor class with my wife and was so impressed with the class. I feel this is must for all expecting couple's. We felt that the exercises that Dee and Judi suggested, helped prepare my wife physically but more importantly they prepared us both mentally and spiritually for the eventual labor. I've been attending prenatal yoga classes with Dee, Judi, and Sarah three times a week for about a month now. Each teacher is amazing in their own way and full of knowledge about preparing your body and mind for pregnancy and labor. In a short time, I have become so much more physically comfortable and mentally relaxed. I would recommend these classes to any soon to be moms in the Westchester area! I started prenatal yoga with Dee in my second trimester and was hooked. There were amazing physical benefits (I could reach my toes right through the end of my pregnancy and she always had a stretch to recommend for whatever my problem was that week) and mental benefits (the meditative techniques we used were so helpful for labor!), but the biggest benefit for me was the community. Unlike any other yoga class I've taken, we started each class by introducing ourselves, and there's a members-only Facebook group that's been so helpful. I've met so many wonderful, nonjudgmental women who have become my friends. We don't all follow the same paths (some natural births, some epidurals, some c-sections; some exclusively breast fed, some bottles; some co-sleep, others moved to a crib ASAP--you get the idea), but we all support each other and exchange ideas in a positive way. My son recently 'graduated' from Sarah's mama and baby yoga class (which offers the same community building, if somewhat less quiet meditation with the babies around!) and I can't wait for him to be ready for toddler yoga so that we can get back. In the meantime, there's a more traditional women's yoga class taught by Judi, which I'm hoping to get to more often now that my baby's a little bigger! read more

The space is beautiful and the teachers are great. I went to prenatal classes when I was pregnant and now I've been to the mommy and baby classes with my newborn. I've also been to the new moms support group on Wednesdays which has been really helpful. I'll be sad when my maternity leave is over and I can't attend these classes! read more

I can't recommend Prana Yoga enough. I started taking prenatal yoga with Dee & Sarah at 17 weeks pregnant, and it's been my saving grace these past few months. It's all about forming a community - the women you see at yoga will probably also be at the Mommy & Me Yoga classes after birth. I look forward to every class - not only for the yoga, but for the interactions with other moms. The classes help me manage my pregnancy pain, and there are always great tips and tricks for getting through labor. Dee & Sarah really focus on every woman and what they are going through. They are always adding new exercises and moves to the class to help people with the issues they are experiencing. I wish I could give more than 5 stars! read more

I just went to my first prenatal yoga class last week Jan 5th with Judi and I loved it. I have went to other places trying out their prenatal classes and i really liked this one the best and plan on coming here a couple times a week to continue prenatal classes and when my little one is here start the mommy and baby classes. I loved the energy of the room and how welcoming Judi was. I am looking forward to more yoga classes and the other things i booked like the Yoga for Labor,Infant/Child CPR and Newborn Care class in the next couple of months. Prana was a fantastic resource for me throughout my pregnancy! I was brand new to yoga and a bit nervous to try, but the atmosphere was so unbelievably welcoming and supportive that I wished I began sooner. I looked forward to going every week as a way to connect with other pregnant women in a nurturing environment and it did wonders for my mood. Sarah's class was particularly helpful for my needs, given her pelvic floor expertise and helpful accommodations for some of my physical issues. My husband and I also took the infant CPR class as well as the yoga for labor workshop, both of which were great! This is my second pregnancy and my first attending regular prenatal yoga classes. I have taken courses with Dee, Judi, and Sarah for prenatal. All are great and what's amazing is that it's not just about yoga but about building community. Each class starts with introductions so you get to not only share what's going on each week but also get a chance to meet mama's who will have babies around the same time as you. Each class is totally different based on the requests of the participants. I've been attending since I was 16 weeks pregnant and can't believe I only have a few weeks left until the baby comes. Once the baby comes there is also Mama and baby yoga again to help build community. It's not the most robust class schedule but weekends are pretty good and the cancellation policy is amazing. There was a time I forgot to attend #pregnancybrain and I got the class credit back no questions asked. I have also attended toddler yoga with My 3 year old daughter and it is seriously my favorite activity to do with her. Rose is the most amazing teacher and her class is full of music, activities, and fun. Such a unique class. I wish I could do it every week but it's usually 1-2 times a month between the two teachers. I have not taken class with Monique yet. So bottom line GO TO PRANA!!! You'll be part of a great community and learn how to take care of yourself, your baby, and your toddler. read more

I took Mommy & Me with Dee after my daughter was born. We had so much fun each week. It was a great way to get out of the house and meet other people. Dee is so kind and she really tailors each class to what everyone needs that day (hips, wrists, back, legs etc). She's an amazing instructor and great person to be around. She makes you feel completely comfortable whether you're new to yoga or experienced. The environment is always warm and welcoming. You don't have to worry if your baby cries or fusses, everyone understands! The only bad part about Mommy & Me is graduating!! Once your child can crawl, you "graduate" as the room isn't meant for mobile or unsteady children. The bubble filled goodbye is adorable though. (I also took a few classes with Sarah who is wonderful! She too, is so warm and welcoming. Plus, I love her accent, so relaxing!) Finding out I was pregnant again was super exciting because then I got to take prenatal classes with Dee and Judi. Again, the classes are great. They tailor to your needs and make sure you leave class feeling better than when you came in. I love the meditation that Dee will sometimes guide you through. She has such a calming effect. Most recently we tried Toddler Yoga with Rose. We loved it!! My 22 month old had so much fun. It was low pressure and gave a fun intro to yoga for your little ones. Rose truly loves kids. If I could, I would give Prana 10 stars. I took a prenatal class there with Dee at 34 weeks. It was the first prenatal class I ever did, and Dee was such a wonderful instructor! She made everyone so comfortable and really imparted the importance of finding your tribe and believing in your inner strength. For mommas there are of course prenatal yoga classes, but for couples there are also workshops like Yoga for Labor that promote the union between birth partners and the laboring mother. Do yourself a favor and sign up for a prenatal yoga class and, after your child turns 6 weeks, a mama and baby class. Just take one and you'll be hooked. I took prenatal and mama & baby during/after both pregnancies. In fact, when I saw Dee for the first time while attending yoga during my second pregnancy, I started crying. I was overwhelmed with a flood of emotion and am actually getting teary eyed right now as I type this. There is nothing like pregnancy, labor and the few months after labor. It is indescribable. I started taking prenatal yoga to reduce my stress and the anxiety associated with preparing to become a first time mom. I've gotten so much more from these ladies. This yoga studio encourages a community of support and wellbeing. I've taken classes with Dee, Allegra and Jillian so far. They are all wonderful, knowledgeable and very attentive yoga instructors. I started taking Dee's Saturday prenatal classes when I was 13 weeks pregnant until I gave birth at 39 weeks. I had taken a few yoga classes here and there before, but would classify myself as a beginner. The class was always taught with the notion that everyone is at different skill levels, and Dee would offer modifications to make poses more or less challenging. With that being said, we always worked at 70% capacity and were encouraged to take water breaks, child's pose, or even nap whenever needed. From the beginning of my pregnancy, I learned skills to have a calmer mind and body which I attribute my speedy labor to. The class environment was always welcoming and tailored to meet the needs of the individuals as well as the entire group that day. If many women were feeling lower back pain, for example, Dee would ensure we did plenty of poses to help stretch and strengthen that part of our body. I always left class with a few new tricks up my sleeve that were easy to implement into my everyday life. I became more aware of my body than ever before. The hour long class was truly time to nurture our body and mind. I felt comforted in her class by learning what the other expectant moms were going through at different stages of their pregnancies and easily became friends with these mamas. The studio naturally fosters connections and relationships between all of the women. My husband and I also took Dee's 'Yoga for Labor' class. We learned tips & tricks to help us if we needed to labor at home for long hours, how to help ease the pain of back labor, and how our partners could help us through the process. On the morning I went into labor, my husband really used some of the things Dee taught him about ways to help me breathe calmly. What I found most helpful about this workshop was the time we spent learning how to stay calm. Dee often says "1..2..3...Relax, relax, relax..." and I found myself saying this mantra to myself throughout my pregnancy (and still now!) Dee taught us about how our mind and body are connected- which for me reinforced how important it would be to stay calm. As soon as I was cleared by my doctor, I couldn't wait to get to the Mommy & Me classes. I loved being reconnected with the familiar faces at prenatal yoga. Some days I did not get much yoga in, as it is encouraged to tend to your baby as needed (feed them, change them, etc) but that was okay because I got out of the house and did something for myself! I never once felt like if my baby was fussing I was ruining the class experience for others. The class is taught specifically to strengthen your post baby body in safe ways. Both Dee & Judi are wonderful with the babies- they have a calming effect on them I swear! Most days, all of the moms and babies will grab lunch after class together, which is a great way to bond and discuss the new challenges we all face as mothers. This has been invaluable to me. We asked them to add Sunday classes so we could still attend once we went back to work and they figured out how to do it- the instructors are truly always looking to help out the little community we have built and support our village of moms. I attend Mommy & Me classes with Dee & Judi, which all have been wonderful. (Judi gives the most relaxing little head massage at the end of class!) I also took Sarah's Pelvic Floor workshop. This class was very informative and taught me more about my post natal body than I ever knew before. I found the class to be more discussion based than yoga based, but we learned how to use yoga poses and breathing techniques to strengthen our pelvic floors. Once you take a class at Prana, you are invited to join a private Facebook group. This is another way for everyone to connect, ask for advice/recommendations, share articles, or simply get some words of encouragement and support when needed. I cannot speak highly enough of the teachers, classes, or community at Prana! read more

I am so glad I join the Prana community! Dee and Judi are wonderful instructors- both kind and patient. I would look forward to every yoga class. Towards the end of my pregnancy , I was attending at least 3 times a week. Aside from the wonderful instructors, it was nice to meet other women going through the same things you are, and know you are absolutely fine. They have created a warm, loving and caring environment for mommys-to-be and new moms. I now attend the Mommy and Me yoga classes when possible.
