I was in the hospitality industry for over 20 years, my last role was at as the Director of Catering at a private alumni club. So, I would like to think I know the ins and outs of the industry, definitely not off premise catering which is I know is completely different. I just need to tell you how incredibly impressed I was with the Pranzi team. From the very beginning working with Chelsea was a dream, she was professional, prompt, and helpful. This event was the first of its kind and I had never worked in Rhode Island before. It is also the first event at the hotels we used as they typically do not do events. I found Pranzi in my search, and they seemed like the right fit and they certainly were! Melissa and Jarrod were with us each day for breakfast and lunch and as soon as I met them, I knew they had everything in control and in place. Melissa was thoughtful, gave us help determining the best for set up and kept me informed as needed throughout the day. Jarrod was a very nice, helpful man and always willing to help and very kind. Our evening events with Erica as the lead and with Erica and Jen on night 2 along with their team - Jonathan, Emily, Jennesey, Michaela, Joe, Jeremy, Joscan and Brent. Wow ! They made us shine. What an amazing group of wonderful people who are amazing at their jobs. I had many conversations with all of them, and the conversations ALWAYS came back to how much they love their job, they love the company and said that the owner takes such good care of them. I kept telling them I was going to move to RI so I can work with all of them again and host more events ! I could go on and on. I am highly, highly, impressed by their operation, their team, their offerings and not to mention the food was delicious and the presentations were all beautiful. Horrible Experience!!! Pranzi recently catered my daughters wedding. Guests waited over an hour and a half for the salad to be served. It took over an hour and a half for the salads to be cleared and main course served. My daughter, the bride was in tears on her wedding day. Guests left without eating and by the time dinner was served, we were left with only an hour and a half to dance. Do not have them cater your wedding. They seemed very disorganized and unapologetic. read more

We used Pranzi in August 2022 and we had several issues. I attempted to contact the owner on numerous occasions with no resolution. She called once on Oct 1 and I returned her call on Oct 3 and she was unavailable. I followed up with several more calls and a detailed email with our issues and she never responded. Allergen Beware: We are very disappointed in Lisa and her representation of the Pranzi catering team. I have a severe nut allergy; which was made clear to Pranzi from day one. This allergy was communicated multiple times verbally and written in our contracts. On our wedding day, just seconds prior to us walking down the aisle, I noticed Pranzi staff putting out heaps of nuts on the charcuterie board for the appetizer portion just feet away from us. I addressed the issue with the staff who somehow wasn't informed of the allergy, who worked to fix the mistake as we were walking down the aisle.   For the rest of the evening, we were both stressed that nuts had already been present and nervous that they could be in other dishes without us knowing. As the evening went on, I barely ate any of the food, nervous about the unknown. Going into cake cutting, my husband was actually hesitant to feed me any of our carrot cake. He had to stop, during what should have been a happy time together, to look for any indications of potential nuts before we were able to enjoy it. We trusted Pranzi and they failed.   We recognize mistakes happen, however, we still felt it was important to reach out to Lisa immediately to address the mistake via email. Her response to our email was essentially "no harm no foul", "We will not be providing any sort of refund... we fixed it before you ate anything and you weren't harmed", completely disregarding the gravity of Pranzi's mistake. Our follow-up emails have gone completely ignored.   Given this experience, we DO NOT recommend Pranzi. Their lack of regard for such a serious issue, along with their non-willingness to rectify the issue with customers afterward is inexcusable. read more

I ordered a little snack for a concert at the John Brown house. It was a lovely evening and we had a lovely time. The snacks, unfortunately, should have been good and probably started off being good but as they sat there or traveled and then sat there they became soft and mushy. And I guess when you put all things in one container together that's going to happen. But it was a nice selection of things and I would've really enjoyed it had it been fresh. read more

They catered a party for us and they did a fantastic job. All details were included as defined by our contract. They showed up exactly on time and the food was really fantastic. We used Pranzi Catering for our wedding on 10/2/2022 at Five Bridge Inn, and they did an absolutely outstanding job! All of the food - from the passed apps to the 3-course dinner to desserts - tasted delicious, were HUGE portions, and were beautifully presented. I cannot tell you how many compliments we have received both on the wedding day and in the weeks after from our guests raving that it was the best food that they ever had at a wedding (and this is coming from a LARGE Italian family who LOVES to eat!!). Bar service and beverages were also fantastic. All of the staff were attentive and courteous. Special shout-out to our day-of coordinator, Michaela, who was a ROCK STAR. She made sure that we stayed on time, helped to set up my decor exactly as I had pictured, AND she even somehow magically found my new contact lenses for me when I happy-cried out of them at the ceremony. :) :) Pranzi also provided the specialty china, napkins, and glassware used on our tables. I had my wedding this past weekend at Roger Williams Botanical Gardens and it was absolutely a dream. Pranzi was there main preferred vendor for Catering and Rentals so naturally we chose them. They did not disappoint!! We have been working with Pranzi and Arolin for over a year now. They were nothing but PERFECT. Every person we interacted with was so excited to help us but when we met Arolin we KNEW we needed her The attention to detail was incredible. She really listened to what I wanted and was there every step of the way down to me being so particular about napkin folds and so much more. She was someone that I absolutely needed in my corner that day and truly feel like I gained a friend in the process. We still have people none stop talking about the food, the service, the venue. This review has been a long time coming, but I knew I needed to write it -- we couldn't bear to have someone else deal with the same issues we had. We had to replan our entire wedding in five months because of Pranzi. We were working with a venue with a short list of approved caterers. We had a modest budget, and Pranzi was the most affordable of our three options. The owner, Lisa, was super friendly off the bat and assured us she could work with our budget. We put together our menu, which we were led to believe was workable with our budget, and had our tasting (which was $75pp and not treated as a deposit toward the final bill, by the way). The food was fine, though overall not mind-blowing, but we were fine with it since they were effectively our only option. The cake was excellent. However, we did have a tense conversation with Lisa at that tasting because we were having some concerns with the quote she had given us not fitting the budget we had given her. She responded with marked hostility to my mom who had been respectful, though direct, with these financial concerns. We put our $1000 deposit down after the tasting, assured that we could work out our budget issues afterward. Mistake! It all went downhill from there. One problem we kept dealing with was that she would tweak the menu to "fit our budget" but didn't take into account the 15% service fee that added thousands of dollars to the final bill and wasn't reflected in the quote's bottom line. Lisa ignored my emails for months. I would wait a week and resend to get a one-word response and a quote with prices that didn't shake out the way I had expected them to, with no explanation. When my mom called for me to confront the issue months later (I was massively stressed at this point), she was told, "She was nickel-and-dime-ing me!" as if that made it ok to ignore a paying customer. We were two (very polite) young people just trying to balance their wedding budget and understand their investment of thousands of dollars; that seemed to be unacceptable to her. We knew we couldn't stay with this company, so we started looking at other options and asked if our venue could accommodate. Due to contract obligations, they could not, so we were forced to look for another place to get married five months before our wedding day, forfeiting our deposit. We ended up at The Squantum Association for our reception (the polar opposite experience with budgeting! Tina is amazing and so straightforward!), using their in-house catering for our food, which worked with our budget with no problem (and tasted better, for the record!). We then tried to negotiate with Pranzi, since we had already paid them a total of $1300, to perhaps repurpose our deposit towards renting chairs. Lisa said no, impossible (even though she's the owner and could have if she'd wanted to). We thought maybe we would use them to cater just our dessert, since we had already booked them for that day. Lisa said, "Fine, whatever will make this go away." We came up with a menu, sent it over, and never heard from her again. We gave up, concerned that even if we did hound her enough to get it sorted out, they wouldn't even show up the day-of. Since this happened, our neighbor told us they had booked Pranzi for a grad party, and they showed up hours late with cold food. We felt like we dodged a bullet, even though we lost almost $2k in total -- better to lose it than work with a shady company. Unless you have money to burn, stay away. read more

I was considering working here for this company as I have been a chef for 16 years and was looking for work after not being able to work with Covid19. 3 weeks ago I went in for an interview. I saw their kitchen and it was a disgrace, filthy, no one was using sanitary practices, if I worked for the city I would have shut them down. Work conditions were like a sweatshop for food and the food looked cafeteria grade not high end catering. There were "wasthed" sheet pans with food still on them. I am posting this because I walked out, I would be scared to order catering from this place. I do not recommend eating food cooked from here based on the cleaning practices I saw my hour there. People didn't wipe down there stations and when they did it was with dirty dry rags. I was disgusted. read more

We hired Pranzi to cater and plan our wedding and unfortunately they didn't come through with what was in our contract. The cookie wedding favors were supposed to be at each guests place setting when they sat down but they didn't bring them out until the end of the evening, so most of our guests didn't get one. Outside of some of the food being cold one of the pans of chicken was undercooked and so only half of my guests had chicken. We ordered the wedding cake through them also and they neglected to set it up properly. It was so embarrassing. We never got an apology from them and they had the nerve to offer to return $130 to us for the inconvenience. What a joke! I will never recommend Pranzi to anyone. Aida Perry read more

I have never written a negative review and I have given it four months of thought but I am writing this because I don't want other couples to share this same major let down of a catering/wedding coordinating experience. 1. Nicole (wedding planner) was very rude to my family, guests, and her staff during our wedding. She acted as if we were inconveniencing her throughout the evening. 2. Food was 2+ hours late with no explanation which pushed back our entire event and left very little time for dancing. The band was a big deal for us and we let it be known that we wanted to have lots of time dancing and having fun with our guests. Unfortunately our band and dancing time was cut in half due to the tardiness on Pranzi's end. 3. There was an extremely long bar line the entire night because there was only one bar tender even though we paid for two and having two bar tenders was in our contract. 3. Pranzi has not returned one phone call or email after I sent my honest feedback and asked for some explanations as to why the wedding was coordinated so poorly. 4. There weren't enough seats and table settings for our guests and Nicole was taking guests attendance and crossing them off of a list which was extremely embarrassing. 5. Seriously DO NOT go with this catering company. They talk a big game about how everything will be taken care of but they really really were a huge disappointment! Luckily two of my bridesmaids were in the event planning industry and they actually had to take over! 6. We contacted Pranzi to help with our wedding when we had planned on having it at a wedding venue. On a whim, we changed our minds and decided to have our reception in our backyard- and when we told Lisa in our initial meeting, she didn't even bat an eyelash and said let's do it! Throughout the whole process we found everyone at Pranzi to be professional, detail-oriented, and responsive. Lisa was incredible- she was patient when we had no idea what we were doing and also thoughtfully gave us suggestions on how they could make our vision come to life. She was also really mindful of staying within our budget and giving us several options of ways to cut costs when we needed to. It was also so nice to have a one-stop shop for everything; Pranzi handled our catering, furniture and tent rentals, flowers, day of coordination, etc. They even built a hot air balloon photo booth based on a picture I found online that came out identical. The only thing we had to do was hire a band and show up! On the day of, Marie was our point person and she was amazing- she knew every important detail- right down to making sure I always had my favorite drink in hand and packed up extras of my favorite pie. We can't say enough good things about Pranzi, and have gotten SO many compliments from friends and family who are still talking about how amazing of a night it was! If you're looking for a catering company, I would HIGHLY recommend Pranzi! Food: - We chose the statler chicken breast and Parmesan crusted filet mignon. Both were INCREDIBLE and we were so excited to have leftovers for the days following. Our daughter and her husband chose Pranzi because they would take care of all their catering needs plus help coordinate the event. The original coordinator was no longer there, so they were given another one. Communication seemed to be a big problem, emails were not getting answered. They met with her prior to the wedding and things seemed to be okay. It was an outside wedding and there were not enough chairs set up for everyone to sit, luckily the bridal party stood otherwise there would have been even less seating. Signs pointing to the wedding sight were never set out. There was a water station but with no cups. Food was very very late and many people had cold food. Such a disappointment. read more

Pranzi catered my best friend's wedding and they were such a disappointment! DO NOT recommend! The wedding planner (Nicole) was rude to guests (my parents also attended and as they were serving dinner 2 hours late, she was complaining and rude about where guests were seated). Because the food was delayed (2 hours!!) this caused the rest of the evening's events to be cut short - or we didn't have time for them at all. Pranzi gave us no explanation as to why they were so late. Being rude to guests is unacceptable - especially when you are unapologetic for the way you acted all evening - essentially "ruining" someone's special day. read more

Thank you thank you thank you to the Pranzi team for all of the hard work you put into my wedding! My husband and I hired Pranzi to cater and help plan both our rehearsal dinner and wedding day. Lisa, Donna and Nicole are a fabulous team. As a bride who was not always on top of things, Donna was right there every step of the way and was so patient with all of my many questions. The entire planning process was super organized and I felt in very good hands. Nicole took such good care of my husband and I on our wedding day, I honestly don't know what we would have done without her! It rained last minute and our ceremony was originally planned to be outside with an indoor reception. We ended up moving the ceremony inside as well, and I can't thank Nicole and her team enough for how special they made it look. :) The food is incredible to boot, and the florist did such an amazing job with our flowers. I was very particular about my bouquet and the garlands. Their florist took my vision and made it even more beautiful than what I had been picturing. Working with Karen and Lisa in the preparation for my daughters wedding down to every detail they thought of and guided me through it! To Karen who did all the beautiful floral designs which was truly the most beautiful flowers and arrangements incorporating the colors we asked for ! To the servers and chef and the bartender and to all the many workers who orchestrated the appetizers to food to dessert .. amazing ! Also Ingrid was the coordinator who was right on top of everything!! Pranzi catered my wedding on the 18th of this month and they were INCREDIBLE. From the start with booking all the way through the wedding Lisa, Donna, and Kelly were amazing to work with. They were there (promptly) with any questions we had, saw (and executed) our vision, and helped make the wedding planning process so much easier. Another GREAT catering job from Pranzi. Last night had a graduation party for my daughter and ordered all the food from Pranzi Catering. I order their finger sandwiches which were far from finger sandwich. You couldn't fit anymore into the buns if you tried hard. The Italian finger sandwiches were in my opinion Italian grinders. The sides were AMAZING I ordered the owners famous pasta salad, which was the best pasta salad I'd ever had, tortellini salad and a special grilled potato salad with grilled vegetables all were amazing. Ordered specialized pizzas and calzones, again amazing. I'd highly recommend Pranzi catering for any event. Thank you Pranzi, my party was a big hit! Almost forgot also order 7 layer dip, much larger pain then I expected and like everything else, well worth the money! read more

I needed help for a dinner party for 25, and Pranzi was definitely the right choice! They came and set up the chafing dishes, provided salad, rolls, the entrees and sides, as well as china and cutlery. The food was absolutely delicious - salmon, risotto, and two vegetables. Even though the hot food was in the serving dishes for an hour and a half before dinner was served, it was moist and hot. They accommodated food sensitivities with 2 non-dairy dinners. And additionally, we didn't have to wash the dishes. I thought the prices were reasonable as well. I strongly recommend Pranzi. read more

Pranzi catered our wedding last fall and the food was excellent. We did buffet stations and for our cocktail hour we had a huge spread of fruits, cheeses, breads and sausages. Our guests still comment to us about the great food and that famous sangria! That being said......there were a few issues I had with the behind-the-scenes process of working with Pranzi. Our wedding was a DIY wedding and we were on a budget. We were able to get Pranzi to work with us to create a menu within our budget. However, there were styling details that were really important to me that I brought up time and again and even gave Lisa photos as example several times but then when it came to the wedding day, those details seemed to have been swept under the rug. As well, the employee who ended up managing our actual event was quite confrontational with me when it came to these details that I had specifically discussed with Lisa but were being overlooked. Asking a bride, at her wedding, in front of her grandparent's, "Why aren't you happy, what's the problem?" is NEVER an appropriate thing to do. Overall, I don't think our guests ever knew I was miffed and the food was delicious but it will always bum me out every time I think about the huge glass urns I really wanted our sangria in and I will always wince when I think about the raucous of the catering staff setting up tables mid reception to pile our wedding cake slices on like some cheap banquet dinner. read more

This review is solely for a wedding consultation experience via phone and email and one tasting in December 2014. Pranzi was on our (new) wedding venue's short list of recommended caterers. After some research of Pranzi and review of their menu we were really excited to meet with Pranzi and do a tasting. We are planning our wedding from a different state and first communicated via e-mail and phone with Lisa. Conversations about the food went as I expected, though she seemed eager to jump into floral plans and other wedding planning services that she could offer. We were still almost a year out from the wedding, so after securing the venue we were taking it one step at a time and just thinking about finding a caterer. I told her that we were not thinking florals yet. Of course I was thinking, "let's see how the food is before you start planning my centerpieces" and my gut instinct was correct. My fiance and I flew home for a short trip for the holidays and did some wedding planning. Pranzi was the only caterer we were planning to meet so really did have all of our eggs in one basket. The tasting was very underwhelming. We are opting for stations for our reception and thinking of incorporating unique stations to suit our tastes. That day we tried: Fresh Mozzarella with Native Tomatoes and Fresh Basil: Tomatoes were more white than red. When we brought this up, we were told this would not be an issue for our summer wedding. The caterer we ended up choosing did not have trouble presenting fresh and ripe produce for our tasting. Had the representative mentioned upfront the issues they were experiencing, my opinion might have been different but it was passed off as a perfectly fine salad. Caesar Salad, carved meat station, pasta station: Nothing to write home about. I can prepare in my home equal or better and was looking for something more impressive for our wedding guests. But, no major complaints. Interactive Wok/Asian Station: I buy better frozen Asian meals at Trader Joe's. It was a very unnatural orange color. This was the lowest point of the tasting for sure. Our rep. suggested that it may be improved for the wedding, but I could not imagine how. Cannoli Station: Reminded me of canolli I would buy in a grocery store. I am not the type of person who complains about food at restaurants or is a brideszilla - most other vendors have found it easy to impress me, so I was very surprised by how unimpressed I was. The biggest disappointment of this tasting was that it took up our precious type and left us worrying if we would choose a caterer on this particular trip to MA/RI or if we would have to purchase more plane tickets to find a caterer a different trip. My fiance, parents and I spent the time in between courses whispering (bantering) about who would be the honest one and tell someone that we were not impressed. Finally it was me that had to do it. As both a cafe and catering customer, I'm well experienced dining with Pranzi. I love that they are family owned and operated, and that the staff is personable and warm each and every visit. Their food is solid, but cafe diners beware! Anything served hot is typically microwaved, so things like the delicious-looking potatoes and stuffed mushrooms arrive rubbery and dry. They have great, big sandwiches with nice flavors, but be clear on exactly what you want! I've gotten the wrong sandwich a few times, unfortunately. As for catering, they did a splendid job a couple years ago at my company's function. The food was wonderful, however, they spoiled the night by jacking prices on the cash bar items - a Sam Adams should never cost $7... it's brewed one state away! That was disastrous, our guests were quite upset, and we felt mislead having not been notified of such a price change prior to the event. My review may seem a little negative, but know that it's constructive criticism out of love! I go here often, and enjoy it. But, there's always room for improvement, right? All in all, give Pranzi a try if you're in the neighborhood! read more

I don't usually write reviews, but Pranzi is an exception. If you want to be STRESSED out even more for your wedding, then by all means, Pranzi is the catering service for you. The lack of communication and organization by the staff and wedding coordinator was absolutely unacceptable. Photos of the cake design, decor and all the details leading up to the wedding were provided and talked about IN PERSON. Yet, when Pranzi showed up with an undecorated cake and with 2 meals missing, they basically answered with "well I'm sorry you feel that way". I asked for a small refund for the cake which was $75 for a 6inch cake that was not decorated, and the two meals that I paid $90+ for that were replaced with dishes from olive garden. I didn't think that was asking for much considering the amount we paid for the catering service. I was rudely blamed for their mistakes and they did not care what I had to say since they already got their money. read more

My Daughter chose Pranzi for her wedding because of all the fantastic reviews. We met with Lisa, and everything was going wonderfully. My daughter was emailing her coordinator with questions, concerns, and changes that she wanted to make. She got no response from Erin. She was finally able to get in touch with someone after calling several times and was told that Erin was no longer an employee. It took another 4 days before someone called her back, this lady was not pleasant at all and basically set up a meeting and told her to bring a cash or cashier check because the deadline was already way overdue. My daughter informed her that she had no idea how much to bring because no one has answered any of her questions. Since a final contract had not been sent and the one she was emailed today was not correct either she has no idea how much it will cost. She has a meeting to bring the money is a couple of days. With that 20% administration fee that is charged for doing all the paperwork etc maybe we should submit a list of charges for things that they promised to provide and haven't. They were supposed to make this stress free for the newlyweds instead the wedding is next week and there is nothing but stress. So far Pranzi has not lived up to the hype, I truly hope that after the meeting The happy couple can finally relax and start enjoying their wedding. read more

From initial consultation to equipment deliver to food delivery and finally, equipment pickup, only one word describes Pranzi: OUTSTANDING. The food was great and the people were top shelf. I do not even know where to begin so I am going to start from the beginning. When my fiancé (now husband) walked into Pranzi's show room located at 10 Rosario Drive in Cranston, RI and we met with Lisa I knew within the first 10 minutes this is the place for us. Lisa knocked our socks off. She knew what she was talking about, served us coffee and made planning a wedding the easiest thing. Once we booked pranzi we dealt with Donna and she was Amazinggggg. She dealt with my obsessive emails, helped me through the process and when the week of my wedding finally arrived calmed me down when I felt overwhelmed with normal wedding details. The day of the wedding Lisa was there setting up, came up to me and hugged me. She introduced me to her daughter Nicole who made my day absolutely beautiful. Nicole took care of every detail! My family and friends were blown away. My parents and godmother have nothing but wonderful things to say! All of our guests loved the food and the drinks! The food we had was delicious. From the drinks, to dinner to the late night snack everything was delicious!!! These ladies brought our ideas to life. They worked well with all our vendors and words cannot express how lucky we are. And we just want to acknowledge all the hard work these ladies put into our wedding!!!!! And I cannot forgot the wait staff because they were fantastic. They were all professional and made my guest feel welcomed. Thank you Pranzi! Bryan and I were so lucky to have you guys and thank you for making our day wonderful!!!!! And a P.S. to my review-the manager who was so rude at my niece's wedding , She had the nerve while I and the bride's mother were trying to repair the cake to say "It's the Bride and Groom's Wedding and they DON'T want the cake! It's their day and they should get what they want! " This is after the Bride's parents had spent a lot of money , and the Bride and Groom specifically requested me to make their cake for their day. They didn't want me upset, which is why they said not to serve the cake after it was ruined. The Bride's mother immediately spoke with her daughter and husband, that said "yes, let's do it!" The Bride's mother and I immediately presented it to them, photos were done ( perfect!) and then we cut the cake ourselves and served it. It was delicious!
