There are many things I like about this school--the love and patience shown by the teachers, the intentional community-building, the inclusive atmosphere--but what really sets it apart to me is thought and care that goes into the design of the educational experience. I am a teacher, and I think a lot about how an educator's vision affects how students learn. My experience has been that many daycare centers either lack any educational vision at all, or else teach a "canned" curriculum devised by an institution outside the school. Not so at Pooh Corner. The educational director works with the teachers to develop a curriculum that is appropriate for THESE SPECIFIC KIDS and reflects their interests. They do special projects based on whatever the kids are excited about--my son's class did a project on shoes, and then another on "gravity" (things going up and falling down). The kids get exposure to lots of different kinds of learning experiences. They have a weekly science class that involves gardening, composting, and bugs. This is not just "experiential" science either--they collect data on their plants (I don't think they call it that, but that's what it is) and compare the ones growing inside and outside! There are options like Spanish class and dance class as well. This is all in the context of lots of free play with a great outdoor playspace, as well as time for physical skills, reading, letters, and numbers. However even the letters and numbers are incorporated thoughtfully into the things that the kids are interested in. The school works as a team with families on big changes like potty training--it made it so easy for us, I think he went from diapers to underpants in two days. They also encourage kids to do as much as possible by themselves, which helps them to be independent.

We send our current toddler there, and we plan to send our future infant there as well. (And we plan to have them grow through each class within the center.) The daycare is well staffed and has floating staff, so each room is always equipped with the minimum (often more than) number staff required for each age group. This helps the staff morale, as it seems that no one is over or underworked. The staff is friendly, knowledgable and truly cares about the children and the community. And many staff members have been there for many years (some are former students of Pooh Corner). Notable Pros: -Staff members are ALWAYS "on the floor". They are never sitting in a chair and on cell phones (unfortunately, many other daycares accept this). Staff are actively involved and playing with and teaching the children. -Lesson plans are sent through email weekly. Other emails are sent with pictures of events and other things that the community is involved in. -There is a strong community mentality. Pooh Corner is a welcoming community with many volunteer events, art shows, and social events (at the center and at parents' homes). -Everybody knows everyone else. Because of the movement of staff floaters and the community mentality, everyone knows my wife, my daughter and me, when I walk in (from the director, to the pre-school teachers, to all of my daughter's teachers in the toddler room). This truly makes me feel like my daughter is in safe and caring hands. -Outdoor play everyday (weather permitting). They have a wonderful playground and do things like water play in the summer. -They have a focus on sustainable practices and organic materials. This is a nature-focused program with Montessori and Reggio Emilia influences as well. One of our favorite things about Little School is how the children truly learn to problem-solve and communicate with their peers. Our kiddos have brought their learnings home to us so that we can also hone our communication skills as a family. Little School is a special place and we feel lucky that our kids have had their first years of learning outside of the home with Mrs. Jen and Mrs. Barbie :)

My daughter went here when she was 5 months old. I got a call the day before Christmas Eve and…read moremissed it so they left a voicemail saying my daughter was acting strange and should come get her. I left work immediately, arrived to find my daughter screaming in pain and when I picked her up I could tell her elbow was dislocated. I took her to the er. They confirmed it was dislocated and were able to reset it. But since the tendons were stretched there was a possibility it would happen again until she was around 5 which is did twice more. I knew I needed to change her daycare but still needed to work so on the 27th I dropped her off and left work early to check out a different daycare. I showed up earlier to fun and learn then they anticipated and found my 5 month old daughter laying down with a bottle propped on a pillow into her mouth filled with formula and applesauce. They have since changed names but it is the same owners. You get what you pay for in day care, I would avoid this place.

I had my baby here for 5.5 months couldn't even make it to 6! My son got bit 3x! 1st time wasn't reported I found out while bathing him I reported it to the director who didn't have a clue, after 3 days I finally received a report that supposedly was written on the day it occurred and waiting for me I just wasn't handed it at pickup. How convenient. I told the director I must be notified of any incidents immediately she stated it was taken care of, training was conducted, parent of child was spoken to only for it to happen again and worse I may add 3 weeks later?!? That time I was notified but I was told he has bitten on top of his head he was but in between his eyes and another one on the shoulder which was not in the report my baby is 15 months now come to think of it, it may have been a fourth because he had marks that resembled bites! Also, in this short period he had 3 teachers wherein I was never notified of the switch, granted turnover will occur everywhere but notify me. I would find out when I wouldn't see the same faces like who is watching him now?! I paid month in advance and always received receipts late. The tenured receptionist wasn't the warmest either it took a while to get used to her. When I would call on phone to get update from my child there never seemed to be any! Like u guys can't report how long he napped if he napped, what? Look elsewhere they are very disorganized and extremely negligent.

Since our twins started about ten months ago, the center has had repeated closures due to building-related problems. In that time there have been closures related to water line issues, air conditioning failures, heating problems, and most recently a gas line issue. In 2026 alone, the center has already closed eight scheduled daycare days. For working parents, daycare isn't optional. When the center closes unexpectedly this often, it creates a huge disruption and forces families to scramble for childcare or take time off work. Communication has also been a major problem. Updates are often inconsistent or unclear, and different administrators sometimes provide conflicting information. In one case, parents were told the school would be closed for a field trip. Later that decision changed, but instead of sending a clear update to all families, some parents were contacted individually while others were not. Because we never received the update, I took PTO from work unnecessarily. To be clear, the teachers themselves are kind and caring, and we appreciate the work they do with the kids. Our frustration is with the management and the building-related issues that continue to disrupt families. When you're paying thousands of dollars per month for childcare, you expect consistent operations and clear communication. Unfortunately, that has not been our experience here.

Didn't have a good experience here b/c the chemistry w/ the teachers and school culture weren't…read morethat good. They have small classes w/ as many as 22 kids in one room. It was alot for my toddler to handle. Some of the teachers were not warm or played favorites, there were high teacher turnover rates, and they oversold us, so created high expectations. Once we wanted to leave, they told us we'd lose our $250 deposit. We told them that this was never disclosed to us and the should just return it and allow parents to change schools. The owner got angry and said they never return the deposit when parents leave. Up until then, he acted like a nice gentleman. Others may have a good experience but we just didn't.
