Mar 9, 2026 I have…read morejust purchased and had installed a set of Nokian One 100H tires (215/70/R16) for my Honda CR-V (FWD only). I had asked for a recommendation for tires that would provide a softer more comfortable ride than my existing Nokian all weather set and be very good in the rain. I found the existing ride to be very harsh, especially going over depressed manhole covers and typical Nanaimo road patches. I had some slim hope better tires might produce enough improvement to at least notice so as to justify my somewhat earlier than needed purchase. I would like to say how pleased I am at the resulting improvement. The new Nokians were even smoother on smooth pavement and over my "favourite" set of 3 sequential road patches on Jinglepot the car produced just a muted bump instead of the harsh bone shaking bang from the old all weathers. I haven't had the opportunity to test the new ones in the rain yet (soon will I think) but I can say even on dry pavement I've noticed improved traction. Thanks to all the staff who helped with the recommendation, scheduled the appointment, and did all the install work. Once again Kal Tire 682 (6590 Island Hwy N) has come through for me. We were approximately 2 miles north of the Buckley Bay turnoff for the Denman Island Ferry where we intended to stay the night after a meal in Courtenay. Fortunately, we have membership with the B.C. Automobile Association and contacted them for help. B.C.A.A. were, as always, excellent and before long Ted from Bowser Automotive was there to give us shelter with his tow truck from the heavy traffic and poor road conditions created by the storm while he jacked us up, removed the offending left front tire, torqued the spare in place, and made sure we had the correct air pressure all with a smile on his face. While we were all wet and cold, no one smashed into us and we remained alive and were soon on our way.....forever grateful to Ted and his truck.....with thanks, Sandy and Monty

This morning my car had 3 flat tires, so not particularly happy today after being sent off yesterday thinking all was well. I called and spoke to Jeff and first he asked me if I could bring the car down. I said yes after I pumped up the tires. Then he said they couldn't do it today or tomorrow as they were fully booked. I understand this is a busy time, but then to be further told by him to go elsewhere when I trusted them to make sure they were leak free and good to drive on is extremely annoying. Why is it so hard to find a good tire shop in Nanaimo? Just heard from the new shop (not the one I am complaining about) that none of the tires were on the bead (I think that's the correct terminology) so had to be removed from the rims, the rims cleaned, and had to be reseated. I was prepared to pay for that yesterday but not today. I had told Jeff I had just purchased the rims and tires on Marketplace. He looked at the tires on my car and the ones on the "new to me" rims and advised me to keep the tires that came with the rims, which according to the shop I went to to fix the bad bead issue were from 2012. I can only assume this was to spare the time to remount them on the new to me rims. Did he not know that yesterday? And how, in good conscience, could you send me off with those tires which the new shop showed me were cracked and old? At least now I will have new tires too. You lost a sale on that too, Kal Tire. Thanks for doing a horrible job and possibly putting my life at risk. If I'd gone on the highway like this, I shudder to think what might have happened.

In our situation a disturbing noise was coming from the rear of our Class B RV. We were almost 3 thousand miles from home and the RV is home on our Road Trip. On Friday a tire store had referred us to Scottie as they felt we probably had a very serious problem beyond their skills. Showed up Monday morning 8am and Scottie took it for a drive. He was able to quickly determine that is was A) A defective tire (brand new tire) and B) A leak in the rear caused by a clogged filter. Thank you Scottie!!

I called on Thursday as I was coming out of bamfield, hows it going I ask?? Looks real good, just bearings needed no ring and pinion, you have good ears to hear those bearings he tells me. Are we still on budget then I ask?? Oh ya he tells me but not ready till Friday. Ok I say Friday morning I call him up and ask if it's going to be done today and how much is the final bill?? I'm told 1875$ now!! Why so much more?? Ad ons he tells me! What ad ones?? It's only bearings!! He didn't want to tell me. We had some words to each other and he says pay me my money or I keep your truck. After an hour I call him back and agree to pay him but he won't take a credit card, cash only he says. Long story short,, the truck got towed out of there with the rear end takin apart and parts stuffed in a box. That night I decide to look at reviews, I wish I would have looked at them first. Many people have had the same kind of dealings with him. Just a thief praying on people. Say what someone wants to hear and once he has your car he can throw out any number he wants
