I will admit, when the technician told me how much it cost, I had to stop a second, but then he explained and showed me the difference in what was installed and what he was installing. I will say after that I was impressed. I was probably moore impressed that he told me he had everything to do the job on the truck, and would be in about an hour. He truly was and I will say that although it was more than I would expected to pay, the technician was polite, courteous and walked me through a lot of what he was doing and showing me the differences. I called to get my lift master garage door wall button fixed. The Tech Chris showed up to address the issue within the hour. After about 20 mins into the inspection there were some additional issues with the garage door. At the end of the day there seemed to be some miscommunication from the lady I spoke with on the phone about my issue. Chris could tell I was frustrated and let me speak to his manager Garth about the situation. I can't tell you how satisfied I am with my issues being resolved. Chris remained calm and professional while I spoke with his manager and Garth talked us both through the next steps. Both Garth and Chris handled themselves like true professionals and you can tell they valued good customer service. I had heard their commercials on the radio for months, and after the spring on my garage door snapped, I figured I would give them a call. They were extremely polite and informed me right away of the service fee. The technician that arrived was thorough and offered us two solutions and explained the total cost including labor and the service fee for both options prior to starting any work. He even pointed out things that would eventually need to be done but that were within the capability of someone who was savvy as a handyman. The pricing was fair and the job was quick. Big mistake. Another service provider came out earlier to try to fix it (http://www.doordoctorva.com/), and told me (correctly) that the board was bad and that I needed a new one, but they didn't carry stuff for that model and weren't sure if they could get it. Didn't even charge me for the service appt since they left with it broken. I called these guys after being told over the phone that they carried stuff for this brand. Short time later, I'm out nearly 400 bucks and still with a broken door. And the prices I was quoted for replacement of doors was double that of the other place. Avoid. read more

Had this company come out to repair a broken spring. Estimate was a little outrageous. I opted to not use them and pay the service call fee for $65. It was painful to pay the service fee since they were here for 5 minutes. Immediately called a second company and was quoted almost half the price with upgraded/higher torsion springs. We contacted Precision Door of Hampton Roads after many unsuccessful repairs from other garage door companies. We ran across the Precision Door ad in Valpak. From the initial contact, it was obvious the comments about the high-level of professionalism that we read in other reviews were accurate. The person setting the appointment took the time to understand the issue and scheduled a technician around our schedule (they even offer evening hours). The technician even called once he was getting close to our home. Once onsite, the uniformed technician was able to diagnose and fix our problem (where other companies had failed). The repair was quick as the required parts were on the truck (no need for trips back to the office!). Likewise, the technician reviewed our entire system and was able to provide some guidance on additional maintenance items needed and some suggestions for improving the door system for longevity. Along the way, the technician provided updates on the process and explained why & what he completing. Upon completion, he took the time to explain their no hassle warranty on their work. To top it off, we had lost our Valpak coupon, but the technician called the office and enrolled us for their newsletter and provided the discount provided in the newsletter - hassle free! BEWARE! My spring broke on my garage door and this is the company American Home Shield sent out under our home warranty. Arrived on time and was nice enough but tried to price gouge the crap out of us. Of course AHS says the repair isn't covered under our warranty so the tech tells me and brings up 3 options on his handy smart tablet. The cheapest was $582!!!! For a spring repair! Then he went all the way up to almost 1K to replace the entire door if we so desired. (Even though it absolutely wasn't necessary) I was shocked! We own 4 homes and are not at all unfamiliar with home repairs and costs. This was outrageous! I asked if they could give us a military discount and he replied, "It's already discounted but I can throw one on for you." Brings it down to $500. I felt a little better, we always appreciate doing business with military friendly companies. I still felt it was very high. I told him we'd wait. Right after he left I called Audette's Garage Doors. I explained over the phone the problem and he asked a couple of questions then gave me a quote of $200! So much better! On top of the fair, honest price he was prompt, came within a couple of hours and was done in 30 minutes! Excellent! Sadly, Precision Door Services is more concerned with making money then being an honest, fair business. I have used Precision Door Service, Inc for any and all of my garage door or opener repairs, since 2003. My last service call was 2005, I had work done and got the life-time warrantee on springs, drums, roller, center bearing. May 2013 one of the springs broke, and employee Rob Shrieves fixed the springs, and I only had to pay the service call $65 because I was under warranty. Precision Door came out when promised, but I was disappointed with the amount they charged me. I was fist quoted one thing, and asked if there was a cheaper repair option. The repair numbers kept changing and did not remain consistent. The more questions I asked, the more I felt I was being sold a bill of goods. In the end I went with the more expensive repair option that ($656) that included replacing broken springs and bar that the springs sit on, roller wheels and cable. The guy was here for 2 hours. In the end I feel that was an extremely high price for the repair. It comes with a "lifetime warranty," but I still feel taken. I have to wonder if I lived in a run-down neighborhood, would I have been quoted that same amount for the job??? read more

My old garage door opener quit working when the chain slipped on the sprocket and the assembly over traveled too far and hit the opener case and jammed. It was old but could have been easily repaired or just the chain put back to the proper position. Would it have failed again, sure. The service call fee is $65 which you might think includes some basic assistance other than observation and writing an estimate. It doesn't. The estimate for a repair which would not be warrantied, and included parts I don't think it needed was $453. The quote for a new basic opener installed was $802. I was busy and didn't want to mess with it so I went with a new opener. After looking at it and seeing you basically pay $600 to install a $200 opener, I was bummed. The tech was good and the installation was good. This is not a negative on the installer, he was good. It is just that these do not represent a good value. I would suggest that the first thing you do if you call them is get a quote. But I doubt they will do that as they will need to look at it (and charge you a $65 fee). If you are a DIYer, do it yourself and save $600. Wasn't expecting $800+. Be prepared. read more

Called this company to replace or repair a broken spring and their price was over $600.00 just for the replacing the broken spring. I called this company because the other repair company could not service my house until 7 days later due to repair person being sick.Precision did not quote repair price when I called them and they charged me $65.00 for just looking at the problem which took 5 minutes. I know this kind of repair usually cost between $180.00 to $250.00 at the most(from the previous experience). This company is gauging the price. I would never recommend this company. read more

So, had my door fixed. Needed them to come out and repair my door rather quickly as I was already late for work and didn't have time to do any research on a good repair shop. Read reviews on google and thought they would be okay. I also called them because several other services were not open yet and they offer 24 hour service, which was a plus. Now, prior to calling them I tried to fix it myself by using Youtube (two days prior) and didn't follow the video properly. My torsion spring broke and I decided to replace the spring with 2 springs vice one. They came out because my door had come off track after being used. They came out and did explain the $65 service fee that was going to be charged as expected. So, they come out and assess the repairs. The associate comes in and explains to me that whoever sold me the springs should never have allowed them to sell them to me. Basically, lets me know that I should not have tried to complete the repairs on this door as it's dangerous and should only be done by a professional. Makes sense. I didn't use the proper torsion springs. Technician assesses the door and starts with getting it back on track. Explains the additional fee for "hung door", just to get the door back on track. That was $150.00. Okay, got it. Then repairs the door as he notices one of the cables were frayed, so, replaces them. That's another $71.00. After he gets the repairs done and keeps the springs on the door that I had put on the door, shows me how badly the door will work. I get it. I bought the wrong size spring based on the weight of the door. My mistake. Of course the door will work, but, not for long due to the springs being too strong for the weight of that door. Wouldn't be enough tension in them. So, he goes into a nice "vague" detail as to what else everything else will cost me. Was done rather quickly too. Took less than 2 hours to repair and then go back and replace the springs that I had put on. I do have to give him a star for being quick. Now, they really shouldn't use the word "Precision" in their name. The technician didn't use any type of measuring when he did the repairs. He didn't use a level to make sure the door was level after he completed the repairs. He didn't measure each side of the bar to ensure the weight would be balanced between each cable and drum, but, since he replaced them, they must've been able to compensate for being off an inch or so, I'm sure. He sort of bent the one roller track that had gotten bent from coming off track almost back into place. But, it wasn't completely straightened back. He did offer me the Lifetime Limited Warranty, which covers the repairs he completed on the door. However, my concern is that the springs/rollers that he replaced normally call for lubrication annually to extend the life of them. But the warranty will become null/void if someone other than Precision touches them. So, guess I'll just let normal wear/tear happen as I can't afford a $65 service fee just for them to come by to do some preventive maintenance to help prevent me from having my door break sooner than needed. As mentioned from other reviews, they are way too pricey. I did some research and EVERY item they charged me almost 1000% than what I could've gotten online. I do realize they need to make a profit and they're invoice doesn't have a "Labor" column, so, can understand a markup, just wasn't expecting a markup of that amount. Of course, I do like how he had me initial the invoice stating I accepted the technicians recommendations and wish to have my door serviced at this time AFTER the work was complete. So, yes it would've been nice if I was given a breakdown of what everything was going to cost. I did get a $276 discount on the $576 lifetime limited warranty, which was nice. However, after looking at other reviews, doing some research, I was charged almost twice as much as what the average cost in the area for repairs on a door in my area. read more

technician tried to rip me off! precision was recommended by american homeshield ( another crappy insurance) technician came by and told me that i need to replace the whole door track and components (springs, bearings and track) what precision garage doesnt know is that i called a compny before that dont take American homeshield insurance and they told me that it will cost me $175 bucks for parts and labor replacing the garage door trolley . technician tried to scare me by saying that i will have an accident with the garage door if i just replaced the trolley and continued to convince me to get it fix for $650+ i said no and he replied he can temp fix it for $146. i agreed but he changed his mind later because he wants to make more money. stay away from this company if you want to save money! they are overpriced and do not care about costumers i am also cancelling my american homeshield insurance its also waste of my money for they dont covee much read more
