He also was realistic and told us that the heater was way past its life expectancy and we should think about a replacement. Did not force a sale or anything but did give us a quote for a replacement. The next day we decided to call back and just replace the system to avoid going through this again. They came in the next day, replaced the system and took care of all necessary permits. Charlie was prompt when scheduling a time to service both systems and made it a very easy choice to go with them. His workers that he claimed graduated from HVAC training school, did not know what they were doing. Charlie was not much better. He advertises himself as a licensed expert HVAC installer, but he did not know how to wire the Bosch system. He claimed it was a new model, and he had not installed it before. After we had no heat in the sub-freezing winter temperatures, he had to call the company for step-by-step instructions. The noise level of this system is unbearable and sounds like a wind tunnel. We have to increase the volume on the TV when the heat kicks on. In October he promised to install a noise reduction system in the attic (at my expense). It is now June and I am still waiting even though I have asked him numerous times when he is coming. He says we live too far away. Well, he shouldn't have taken the job if it was too far to travel to our property. The service has been terrible. At this point he will not even return my texts and calls to schedule the spring maintenance which was included in the price. Needless to say, I do not recommend this company for any HVAC work. Months later I found out he closed the business and moved out of state! How do these people sleep at night?

I contacted Urban Mechanical via Yelp to see if I could get a technician to do a maintenance check…read moreon my central air A/C. It has been five years since any technician looked at it. While it is currently running (knock on wood), a guest recently remarked that the filter on my external fan unit looked dirty and that you're supposed to get annual maintenance on these units. As part of the Yelp message process, I left my contact information and provided two photos. Eventually, Urban Mechanical sent a message via Yelp to contact them via phone. I called by phone and spoke to the owner, Hector. He looked at my Yelp information and confirmed my request. He then told me that he had a 4-week backlog of appointments and apologized that he didn't have time at the moment to service my request. He said that if I texted him my contact info directly, he could reach out to me if there were any cancellations in the next 4 weeks. Although Urban Mechanical didn't have any appointment openings to service my request, I appreciate their transparency instead of just ghosting me. If they can be transparent about their scheduling, I am confident that they will be transparent about their work. EDIT: I received a call from Miguel a few days later that a cancellation happened -- he actually followed up, which doesn't always happen with other vendors. He came over at the appointed time. He had shoe covers to prevent tracking stuff indoors from his work boots! He did the inspection of the interior and exterior unit and cleaning. Miguel explained to me what he was doing and why and had no problems whatsoever in answering my questions. (I was like a kid asking "obvious" questions, but I really didn't know much about the AC system -- that exterior unit "filter" I described earlier was actually a coil.). Miguel was very thorough with the cleaning. The exterior unit was really dirty and he had heavy duty cleaner fluid and attached the bottle to my lawn hose and washed down the unit. Then, he dried it up with his towel. Miguel did find some potential mildew/mold build up, but this required installing a UV light, which was not covered in this service/inspection call (which is fine). He would prepare a proposal with several options to address that. In conclusion, Urban Mechanical has excellent customer service and does thorough work, so they deserve this 5-star review.

When my unit suddenly stopped working, I reached out for help--only to be immediately told that it must be the recalled part, without anyone even coming out to inspect or properly diagnose the issue. That assumption alone was a major red flag. I was then told that no replacement part could be sourced until Monday because their supplier was closed--completely ignoring the fact that other plumbing supply companies like Oasis and American Supply are open on weekends. I was left without hot water and no real support. To make matters worse, instead of trying to honor the original installation or offer a reasonable solution, they attempted to upsell me a completely new unit at more than double the original cost. This, despite the fact that I hadn't even gotten full use out of the first one they installed. This company clearly prioritizes profit over customer service or ethical responsibility. I would not recommend them to anyone. Do your homework and go with a company that stands by its work and treats people with respect.

Our point of contact, Daniel, mentioned that they prioritize customers who spend more with them. We spent over $5,000 with the company, yet we felt our concerns were not treated as a priority. Daniel was often unresponsive, and we also had issues with the technicians' work. They installed a new dehumidifier, and we paid as soon as the installation was completed. However, the unit did not work properly for the next two months. On top of that, the company was very difficult to reach and slow to respond. This situation caused us to lose business. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this company. If you do decide to use them, I strongly recommend making sure the equipment is working properly before making the final payment and do not speak with Daniel.
