This review is for Carlos who just towed my car via AAA. He arrived pretty quickly and was so kind and professional. The trunk of the car opened once we got moving on the truck (I was driving my boyfriend's car which I'm not familiar with and it mustn't have latched properly) and a box of my Christmas decorations fell out onto the highway in oncoming traffic. Carlos jumped out and collected what he could and I am so very grateful for that! He salvaged most of my ornaments while cars were running over my things. I was very stressed and not thinking clearly throughout the whole ordeal and he really stepped up to help. In a maxi skirt and sandals I helped my husband whom I affectionately refer to as "McDreamee" push the heavy metal behemoth thankfully somewhat downhill and safely into the nearby Target parking lot. He'll probably never read this, but... Thanks to the guy in the Chevy Silverado that got behind us to block all the a-hole traffic with blinders on and/or eyes buried in their smartphones! Eventually after waiting for the car to cool off a bit for a possible restart - which it wouldn't - McDreamee wanted the car towed back to our house so I called AAA. Enter Charlie from Preferred Towing and Storage, an outfit out of Santa Ana. Not only did Charlie arrive to us in a shorter time than anticipated, but he was friendly, receptive to our requests, and responsible in taking care of our car. Because the tow truck could not fit all of us, I stayed behind with our two little girls to grocery shop at the nearby El Super. Maybe this will speak to my rating: 3:00pm (Preferred Towing Truck Driver dispatched with the wrong equipment to try and get me on the road): "it will take about 45 minutes for another truck to come... their finishing their current job." 3:17pm (third party company hiring PT): "they are still on a job, it's going to be about an hour and you're next." 3:58pm (third party company hiring PT): "they will be there in 30 minutes" 4:34pm (third party company hiring PT): "they will arrive in 30 minutes" 4:49pm (talking with PT dispatcher who knew what was going on): "I just talked to my driver he will be there in 5 minutes." 4:54pm (tow driver from PT calling me directly): "I'm at X/XXX freeway" - which was 30 minutes away. HERE'S THE DEAL: Be honest with people so expectations are set. When I called the dispatcher directly with this company and told her to just be honest, she said she wasn't trying to be deceitful with the third party road assist I was using. She said things happen and it's hard to predict. I get it, after all, these are just estimates. I'm not unreasonable. Sometimes an "I don't know" is good enough. But when the driver that finally arrives (which was the only good part of this experience) tells me he's the ONLY truck in the company that has the equipment... that's a problem - especially when it wasn't "5 minutes" directly from the dispatcher... Coming from another county while on another job... come on! He couldn't have made it in 45 minutes as originally quoted even under ideal circumstances. That's not reasonable, nor honest. Omitting information is just as bad as lying. I could have called my own tow company instead of using roadside assist. She acknowledged she could have called me directly with updates, but didn't. She could have also called me to apologize, but still no call. Be honest and real like the driver who finally came and you'll receive higher ratings all around. read more

I called AAA because my son's truck wouldn't start. First they sent someone out to diagnose the problem. Problem couldn't be solved so they sent Preferred Towing to tow the truck to a AAA approved auto repair shop. I got a call from Jesus a few minutes later. He said he got a rush call (me) and he was on his way. He arrived in 15 minutes with a firm handshake and a smile. He asked my son to try starting the car. The engine was trying to turn over, but no dice. Jesus didn't think the problem was gas related. Once he got the truck loaded, we followed him to Purrfect Auto. Jesus told me there were envelopes by the front door, and that that I needed to fill one out, seal the truck keys in it, and drop it thru the drop slot in the door. Easy peasy! If you need a tow, I highly recommend Preferred Towing. If you do call them, I hope you get Jesus! read more

Very disappointed with the service we received. We had our car towed through AAA and this is by far the WORSE company to date. They not only damaged our property, they also damaged the car and on top of that weren't answering the phone afterwards. They finally answered when we called through a different number and the guy said he would pay for the damages. It was all a lie! They didn't take accountability for the damages and now we have to get lawyers involved. What a headache over something that couldn't been easily avoided if they were more careful. WE WERE RACIALLY HARRASED BY PREFERRED TOWING: Why a driver with Preferred Towing called my husband from two different numbers calling my husband a Black Animal? This Un-Man was called out for Roadside assistance because my husband had a flat tire. He towed my husband to a gas station and refused to change the tire. Demanding my husband to pay him more for changing the tire (They are not suppose to ask for our Credit Card or ask for more money). The tow truck driver started arguing with my husband and I told my husband to let it go because it was clear that it was racial. We then called State Farm to complain and so another Towing service was sent out. Then around 11am (mind you this was 6am when all this happened) the same tow truck driver called my husband 4x's from 2 separate telephone numbers calling my husband a Black Animal and so is his wife. Of course we reported it to Kaufman police and the officer said there was nothing he could do about the harassment. CHP called for a AAA tow after my son was involved in a collision. Driver was good and vehicle was towed after my membership was checked and approved. When I went to pick up the vehicle, they charged me $314 for towing. I advised that AAA approved the tow prior to it being towed and I was not responsible for the tow fee. Forty minutes later, my other tow truck arrived to pick up the vehicle. They would not release the vehicle unless I paid the fee. In order to avoid additional storage fees and reschedule my pick up, I had to pay the tow fee and now have to seek reimbursement through AAA. Avoid doing business with this office. As stated the driver was fine, it was the office personnel / manager that were horrible. Also, just a word of advise for the employees, when a customer comes in maybe try standing up and being professional instead of lounging in a chair with you sunglasses on while indoors. read more

My husband requested AAA service for dead battery Jan, 6, tech came promptly, checked battery was bad, It was installed April, 2022 by Preferred. It failed because it was the wrong size (H6) should be a H7. no problem. Then they wanted to charge me a $68 installation fee for new battery to remedy their mistake, I objected and called AAA, they said installation charge was normal. It was Saturday and I still objected. In the meantime Preferred supervisor called tech and told him to leave and closed the work order!!!!!! my car was not fixed! Monday I called AAA supervisor Mike who remedied the problem, got me a new H7 battery installed by mechanic of my choice and fully reimbursed me. Preferred towed my car to the mechanic very properly and professionally. In interim I received a text from Aaron wanting to be sure everything was well handled . It was not! I called 2 different times left voice mails. NEVER GOT A CALL BACK! End result, I wasted 5-6 hours of my time to correct their error, but ultimately AAA did the right thing a week later.
