Oh my... we stumbled across Prem about a year ago and what a FIND! We love the butcher shop vibe and the friendly family type service they provide. We've tried several of their specialties like the chicken skewers, maple/cayenne chops, as well as the brisket and short rib patties. Today we stopped in Sauk Prairie and explored the pork grillers stuffed with mushrooms onions tomatoes and provolone and they were freakishly fabulous! Do not forget to snag some of the stuffed mushrooms as sides but fair warning - they are addictive! read more

How can we complain ... we won the grill at the 50th Anniversary drawing in the Prairie du Sac store. Originally went to the store on a Saturday to have brat ... they were cooking outside and the aroma drifted over to our house. Got there and found out they were free in honor of the celebration. We don't normally shop there, but we decided to go inside the store and make a purchase. We picked up some baby back ribs and some ground chuck and headed to the register to check out. Along the way wifey signed up for the drawing at the recommendation of our friends Mike Gesicki and Wayne Schwartzkoff. Later that afternoon we got a call telling us we won the drawing (I say we, but it really was wifey) and we could pick up a new fancy Traeger Grill on Monday at the Spring Green store. The store is beautiful and has a lot more than meat. Plenty of items to chose for a picnic or barbecue. We made the trip and we're treated like lottery winners. They even thru in a bag of hickory pellets for good measure. We again felt compelled to buy so we picked up some additional meat along with their homemade potato salad and coleslaw, and a bag of some really excellent hamburger buns. We also grabbed another bag of pellets; this time the new steak flavored mix. Prem meats ... I love them. We will change our buying habits and use them as much as possible. Those deli sides were excellent. Just like my mother-in-law used to make. Do yourself a favor and drop in. Highly recommend without any reservations. Oh, the Traeger Grill. We've used it twice: ribs and pork shoulder. Worked fantastic, but I've got a lot to learn about smoking. It's an art form. read more

And Arby's thinks THEY have the means. HA! A buddy and I stopped in on our way back from a round of golf. I entertained him, as it was his idea. I figured I'd just look around while he shopped. I was amazed by the selection they had at Prem! Any kind of bratwurst you wanted. I was lured in by the mushroom and swiss brats. They were reasonably priced, so I had to try them. While continuing to poke around, I grabbed a package of cheddar bratwurst too. Again - reasonably priced. The quality was excellent. Both brats were very flavorful and really hit the spot. When grilled properly, you just can't beat them. I usually drove past this place in the past - not even noticing it. I will be stopping by more frequently now that I know better! read more

We stopped in to pick up some meat to grill at the house we were renting and everything was fabulous! We had steak, pork and brats. This is really high quality meat, and the brats were amazing. They grilled up with a nice crisp exterior and the flavor was excellent. The beef and pork were flavorful and tender. We also bought some salami for picnic lunches and that was excellent as well. They have frozen sausages too; next time I'm passing through, I'll definitely get some to bring home in addition to the fresh ones I'll enjoy on vacation. Prem is THE go to place for the best quality steaks, meats, poultry or brats. They have this lovely ground patties for burgers that are a lovely beef and brisket mix. They have wonderful selection of wines, spirits and beers. Candy, cheeses, buns made there. Everyone greets you cheerfully and checkout is breeze. This was the worst experience I've had with processing. We gave a $120 deposit when we dropped off our meat and they "forgot" we gave the deposit and tried to charge us again on pick up. Then their website says that the price of extruded jerky is $4.90 and when you pick it up the bill is $14.70! They will tell you the website is based on pre-dehydrated meat, but the bill reflects the post dehydrated cost. This is all just a classic bait-and-switch. I will never go back here and a friend who usually comes here with 3-4 deer per year will never come back here. read more

Don't bother taking your deer there if you shot it in CWD Country. Not only will they take your $100 deposit if it comes back positive, they don't tell you that's what they will do if it comes back positive. I informed their help that it was indeed being tested but apparently that's not good enough??? Either way, I am not totally unreasonable and offered to split the bill 50/50 and was rejected. I hope $100 is worth the bad publicity of this review, a trip to small claims court and missing out on the spoils of an 8 man deer camp that typically takes their harvest to Prems. Absolutely rude and terrible customer service....May I suggest Straka's. Their ring bologna is better anyway and they are completely upfront with policy. read more

Prems is an excellent store to purchase quality meats of all types and cuts. I highly recommend it. That said, after 3 years of dealing with their processing division, Natural Harvest, I will no longer accept their lame excuses that "they are new at this" as a justification for screwing up our processing order. This year, not only did they take over a month from harvest to delivery, once again what we received bore little resemblance to what was ordered. We ordered uncured ham roasts and received deli sliced smoked ham, 3-4 slices per package. We asked for pork 3 lb.roasts and received NONE, zero, zilch. We ordered packages of pork steaks and only received one package of them. Three years ago, I was willing to cut them slack for screwing up the order which they reluctantly admitted to and we made a less than satisfactory agreement, given that they were new at this. Three years later, the same excuse is no longer acceptable. Until they get their act together, I suggest finding a more professional and reliable meat processing business to work with. read more

I ordered the Party Pack to Go from their website. It was OK. You get 2 meats, potato salad, coleslaw and a big can of Bush's baked beans. I thought all the components of the pack would be made there. I was wrong. The equipment you get to use is nothing special. A big nesco and a smaller crockpot. I was expecting something like chafing dishes which would have appeared classier for our event. It is much cheaper to just buy the items you want off the shelf from their store and use your own equipment. read more

So convenient - so good! This location is new, although they're well known in the area. Whether you're a local or a visitor, this place is a convenient stop for many things "Wisconsin." from meats to cheese to beer. Add in the prepared foods and the gourmet and/or local sauces, spreads, etc., and it's definitely worth a stop if you want to pick up food gifts, stock a cooler or pick something up for a potluck or a quick dinner at home. At their core, although, yes, Prem's does catering, the widest variety and best efforts play out with their meat items, whether brats, sausage, BBQ (here, meaning thin sliced / loose (but I wouldn't call it shredded [and I mean that to say that Prem's product is better]) smoked meat presauced lightly), special cuts, or other products. Staff is helpful and patient; the shop is new, has an upscale cabin feel, and everything is very clean. They do a fair amount of animal processing and have loads of info available on their website regarding their services in this area. Personally, I've not been involved in animal drop-off or ordering (at their previous location), just the fruits of others' labor - which, TBH, was pretty damn tasty. They also, apparently sell Traeger grill / smokers. Not that I was in the market for one, but if I was, I'd know where to go! Review is really more of a 4.5 stars, with my "eh's" being mainly about wine selection (though I appreciate that they carry any at all, don't get me wrong!) and what may be a personal peeve: if you're not a local and it is full-on dark, it is very difficult to identify their drive (especially on a first visit!!) from the road while traveling at normal, legal speeds. If you're coming into Spring Green and know where you're going, the drive is fairly easy to see in the dark, immediately after their lit, lawn-mounted sign. But if you're coming from or thru Spring Green, there is no light / no reflectors / not much of anything visible marking (plus the edge camber of the road doesn't make clear) where the drive is (or where any of the connected drives are, really) and in the dark (meaning post-5 pm at this time of year), it can be really hard to accurately gauge, especially with the end-of-day, fairly consistent and aggressive (hush, Wisconsin drivers can be just as obnoxious and agro as those in other states when they're on their regular commute, no matter how Aunt Nelly they might act when in unfamiliar areas) traffic from folks commuting home from Madison. read more

We received out venison order a little over a week ago and it is SOOO delicious!! Seriously the best I've ever had! We got our order within one week. I shared some jalapeno cheddar sticks with some coworkers and they thought it was the best venison they've ever tasted! I HIGHLY recommend this place!! read more
