The family was there for Easter Brunch. The place was packed and a bit noisy, but calmed down as the crowd worked thru. I love the rustic warehouse look of this old building. Pictures of the building's history are found throughout the restaurant. It is just so cozy. A great place to just hang out at the bar and watch a game or casually sit and have dinner. The B&H Sampler is a nice medley of various apps: cheese curds, firecracker shrimp, and bacon wrapped dates. My fav is the shrimp....give me that all day. Just the right spicy coating with a delicate crunch. The Southwest Benedict had the subtle flavors of the Southwest. The chipotle hollandaise was only mildly spicy. The poached eggs were perfectly complemented by the creamy avocados and the buttery toasted crunch from the croissants. A filling breakfast. My wife was enjoying the strawberry crepes. Light and sweet mascarpone filling with orange grand marnier sauce completes this perfect spring brunch dish. Rounding out the whole Easter brunch experience was the Mimosa Flight. Cute place right in downtown Mt Horeb. We went to the cave of the mounds and stopped here on our way back. They had a nice menu with lots to choose from. The hot chicken had a kick and the kids meals were huge. My boys each got the kids ribs and they were pretty tasty. Service was good too. read more

The food is excellent. We had the cauliflower/bsprouts app and it was huge. For an entree I had the Thai chicken bowl and absolutely loved it. My hubby had the half sandwich and soup - he said the BLT soup was delicious, the Hot Comby and while it was good it was kinda basic. We sat outside on the deck on a beautiful afternoon and enjoyed seeing the bikes go by. A very nice spot. read more

The restaurant is very nice on the inside and we were seated quickly. The server was friendly, attentive, and quick to answer any questions we had. The food came out quickly and looked appealing. Disappointing on so many counts. Let's start with service. Avoidance of eye contact is a really bad trait for a bartender. I was alone and sat at the bar for dinner. There weren't a lot of people at the bar, but that didn't keep the bartender from looking stressed out and busy, mostly with what appeared to be tasks associated with closing down for the night. Everything I ordered, cocktail, dinner, wine, dessert, required waiting forever for him to look up from his important tasks to see if I needed anything. If he glanced over to see me staring at him, rather than asking if there was anything I needed, he walked away. I spent at least 30 minutes throughout the evening waiting to ask for simple things when there was clearly not a more pressing matter. Fortunately there was a second person behind the bar who saw my frustration and she was responsive. Then there was the food. Exceptionally mediocre. I'd gladly trade off the extraordinary quantity for improved quality. I ordered the pan fried walleye that was cooked at too low of heat, resulting in a soggy greasy breading. The Brussels sprouts were dried out and tough in peak season, making me question where they are sourcing everything. We are in a region that excels at farm to table, which this is clearly not. (Unless your definition of farm to table is drive from your farm to eat at their table.) Buck and Honey's has always struck me as a place with formulaic national chain aspirations, with a diverse menu of mediocrity. If that is the standard, my visit was on brand, except the national chains drill the importance of service into their staff. read more

What a lovely restaurant addition to Mount Horeb! They did a fabulous refurb on an old farm supply store just off the main street. Love all the natural brick and huge old pictures of the old building. On Saturdays and Sunday, they offer a special brunch menu, so we ordered a Dutch Baby and a Lobster Roll. We both thought the food was great! Service was excellent. The environment was excellent. Love this place! read more

Stopped by this place coming from Blue Mounds and from downtown Mt. Horeb. What a cute little place to stop and get food. Came on a Friday after lunch hour so there wasn't many people. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. A few people from our party order the special of fish fry which it came with hash browns, coleslaw and a piece of bread. I ended up ordering the fish tacos. They were very delicious but sadly the fish wasn't fried. Didn't know it was grilled till I saw it. Which I also didn't fully read the description which is my fault. But overall it was still very delicious. Another person from our party ordered the chicken wrap. read more

Don't go here unless you're spending someone else's money. Had fish tacos, which were presented well, but were the blandest , tasteless fish tacos I have ever dad. My wife's Thai chicken bowl wasn't any better. Worse - our waiter asked what side I wanted with dinner. I didn't really want one. My wife asked the waiter whether salad was an option. He said, "Yes.. House or Ceasar?" I said "Ceasar" Not mentioned: a $9 up charge for the salad. No choice for a well cocktail, either. Just their high priced fancy ones. I had been to the Monona location for lunch and had a Thai chicken bowl which was great, so we were excited to have dinner at the Mount Horeb location tonight for the first time. We arrived a little after 5pm on a Monday. It seemed slow with maybe 2 tables seated at the time we arrived, so it was surprising that it took a long time for our server to come to our table the first time. We could not help but notice that as it started to get a little busier, others who had arrived after us had already been served and were leaving by the time we were served our food, and ours was not a complicated order by any means. We both ordered the same thing: tandoori chicken kabobs off of the dinner special menu. I guess we were expecting a little more than what we ultimately received, which was just large mostly vacant bowls (?) of small skewed chicken pieces atop thinly shaved vinegared cucumber. Maybe it is my fault for expecting there would be something more (a side, or something), but in terms of portion and the lack of food variety, it seemed more fitting for an appetizer menu. It was not a dinner course and was undeserving of the price tag. Drinks were not good. The bacon wrapped dates appetizer was great but was unfortunately the only bright spot. We love supporting local business and had higher hopes for Buck & Honeys as a newer restaurant in town given the limited dining options in Mount Horeb, but I doubt we will return. We had been to this B&H location when the place opened last year: had drinks and appetizers at the bar. Everything was pretty good but certainly overpriced. Tonight, my wife and I finally had dinner here for the first time. We weren't expecting to be wowed, so I guess I can't say we were disappointed. The menu's not bad, but I still feel it's a bit overpriced. Drink menu was just ok... my wife likes seltzers but (like seemingly every other bar around) all they had was Carbliss, which she hates. So she just had water. I like a good IPA, but (like seemingly every other bar around) nearly every IPA was either a hazy or IIPA. Had to have a Fantasy Factory. Again. We also ordered the B&H sampler as an app, to be followed by a buffalo chicken salad (her) and a Korean bowl (me). The app came out fairly quickly and tasted good. The firecracker shrimp is really good, curds were fine, but we couldn't detect any dates in the stuffed dates (was more like bacon-wrapped cream cheese), and the glaze was much too sweet. I think we had a single curd left uneaten before I finally got my beer. It wasn't very cold. Entrees: wife liked her salad enough but couldn't muster much more than "it's ok". I had some issues with my Korean bowl, starting with the fried egg on top. Cooked hard. The menu makes no mention of hard-cooked. I don't know a single person who likes a fried egg that way so I don't know why they would do it, but I wish I'd known before ordering. It came with kimchi, which was exactly like the kimchi you get in a jar from the grocery store. So I assume that's what it was, off the Sysco truck most likely. Other veg were kale and shaved carrots and cucumber. I don't think any of it was seasoned at all apart from a small sprinkle of sesame seeds on the cuke. My biggest issue was the beef: on the menu it's described as seared beef tenderloin in a ginger soy dressing. The reality was much closer to beef teriyaki. It was cooked well-done and was chewy and swimming in sauce. Who orders tenderloin and expects it to be well-done? Honestly, it might as well have been sirloin (and I almost expect that's just what it was). I didn't complain to the server but I was really disappointed by that the most. Lunch on a typical October Saturday. 2 diners. Fast and attentive servers. Very slow food delivery. Food was very good and it appears to be a local watering hole for many, as well as tourists. I had the scallop/salad and it was extremely flavorful. (Full disclosure - I had an issue later and wondered if the scallops were dusted w/flour by the chef, even though I was very clear to the server, that I was a celiac and gluten-free. Stopped by for our first visit this past week. The building is beautiful and the ambiance nice. Our server was very nice and attentive to our needs. I ordered the crab cakes and French onion soup. The crab cakes came out looking like little barrels. The inside was very lukewarm and tasted doughy. The French onion soup fulfilled my sodium requirement for the week. I understand that getting consistency is a real challenge in the business. Let me know when it happens at B&H in Mount Horeb. read more

Was excited about our evening out but left very disappointed. The service was below standard. The first waitress took our drink order and never came back. Our new waitress informed us that she got moved to a different section. The new waitress was not fully trained. I don't understand why you would guve a table of 8 to a newby. The food was good but not hot. The beans were udercooked and barely warm. The garlic mashed potatoes were delicious but you could not finish them as they were cold by the time you were half through. Drinks were weak and the excuse was that the bar tender was new. No offer of replacing the bad drink until it was requested by us. No dinner rolls. No butter on the table. Lack of waitress checking back to see if we needed anything. After dinner ice cream drinks were a huge disappointment. Couple ounce of melted icecream and a drible of alchohol and chocolate syrup to make it look good is NOT an ice cream drink! Very VERY disappointd. Had to apologize to my friend for picking this place for her birthday. This is one party of 8 that will not be back. read more

We were seated outside on the patio with our small leashed dog. Reviewed the menu for 10 minutes.....no wait staff, no water, nothing. Another couple (2 people) were seated and a server came out with 3 waters and took their order. She didn't leave us a water or even notice us. After 5 minutes I went inside to request a server. A different server came a few minutes later with 1 glass of water. Then another server came with another glass of water and he did take our order. A couple of minutes later the manager came out and said we can't stay because it's against health department rules to allow dogs on the patio. Looked up the info and the health department DOES ALLOW dogs outside. It's B and H that doesn't allow them. Wouldn't it have been nice to tell me before we waited and waited and waited? I'm saddened by my experience. First of all my waitress, a thin dark haired girl in her forties should not work service if she hates it so. Second, when someone orders a martini with 1 or 3 olives and you bring one with two the answer should not be "that's how we make them!" Flick one out onto the floor and make a customer happy for God's sake! Food was OK, nothing great, nothing bad. Of course they mixed up our food orders with another table and both the app and main course came out together. One of my favorite restaurants -- whether it's the one in Sun Prairie or Mt. Horeb. Been to both. (There are two more but haven't been in those yet -- Monona and Waunakee.) Food is always good, no matter what I've ordered. Love the firecracker shrimp appetizer! Could make a meal of it! We had a birthday celebration here tonight for a party of 7. The staff was incredibly friendly. We ordered a variety of dishes from wings and tacos to a ceasar salad and the prime rib special. It was all delicious! Our waitress came back often to check on us and even helped us get a special birthday brownie with a candle so we could celebrate in style! Fish tacos were great. Husband had stuffed chicken it had a sauce that tasted awful. It didn't have any bacon in it, and not a lot of mushrooms. No spinach, the breading was soggy. The side of fruit was okay. Overall they seemed to scimp on ingredients. He was very unhappy especially with the price of $25.00. Maybe they have to work out the kinks. read more
