I visited this studio when it was at another location pre-pandemic after my fiancé purchased me a pass so I could go to yoga on weekends when I was in the SFV visiting him. I enjoyed it then, and I recently after a renewed desire to get back into the flow, I revisited this new location, and loved it so much, I'm now here nearly 3-4 times a week. Some of my favorite teachers so far: - Irina Vaysfeld - Irina teaches Level 1, and 1.5/2 flow classes. I find her teaching style conscientious and invigorating. - Regan Mozingo - Regan teaches 1.5 flow. Regan does not take things too seriously, and her class is always a fun time. Every class I've taken of her's has included some much desired upside down time, and she is a talented singer and sings to us during Shavasana. - Christine LaMonica - Christine is the owner, and her classes are what made me fall in love with Prema Yoga in the first place. - Erika Kleinman - Erika's classes are fun, and push me to my edge - often what I need. - Kellie Pulce - I just finished what was basically a private class with Kellie during her weekly 5:30 - 6:30 pm 1.5 flow. Because it was just me she really pushed me so some of what we did was definitely more like 2.0 flow. There should definitely be more bodies in this class on a weekly basis - Kellie is fantastic! If you like yoga and are in the area, Prema Yoga is a great little studio to check out! Nikki (my wife) and I thoroughly enjoyed our one month membership. The owner and instructors are friendly, professional, and terrific teachers all around. My wife is more advanced than I am, but thanks to Christine and the rest of the team, I have seen noticeable improvements in my mobility and core strength - both of which were my objectives for the month. We will be out of town for a few months but when we return, we will be right back at this studio in the mornings to pick up where we left off. I highly recommend this studio. read more

I have been going to prema for the last two years off and on. I tried the one month trial and it was worth it. It allowed me to experience different types of yoga classes and instructors. I have a monthly membership. There are many packages available with no stress or pressure. The studio is clean and has a bathroom with complimentary hygiene items if needed. Christine takes very good care of her studio. The floor is cork and allows for cushion while participating in a yoga practice. She has items available for purchase if you want to enhance your yoga experience. She has a water dispenser available if you forget your water. She invests in the visual experience of the studio by always changing placement of sculptures or lighting. All instructors are friendly, professional, and encourages each student to be their best selves. Some instructors implement some sensory experiences. Some instructors with permission of student might provide some oils on wrist for end of practice time. Some instructors might provide some light pressure on head to release stress or mental blockage. All with a no pressure experience. I also have taken two reiki workshops and one sound bath workshop. All worth it!!! I really enjoy this small, but mighty yoga studio. It has been a beacon of light with my mental health and has added to my strength and mobility. So grateful for this space in this part of the valley. read more

It has a community feel. I took several classes in Tai Chi and yoga. It is not overcrowded. Instructors are relaxed and sometimes extend classes beyond the scheduled time. They give guidance with form and technique. Expect to do better each time. read more

I was in town for a night and needed to flow. It's a cute place, nothing special but yoga is truly how you connect with your practice. The instructor was very cold and gave a vinyasa flow but nothing else besides that. I was also disappointed that it was called a "radio flow" even though the music didn't start for almost 20 minutes. read more

I discovered Prema Yoga about 9 months ago and it has been a huge gift in my life. It was so wonderful to be back to in person classes with other yogis. I immediately felt at home and so very grateful. It's a small lovely studio, with very friendly students and a great variety of classes and teachers. You can find a class for whatever your needs are. They have Therapeutic, Restorative, various Flow classes and others. I immediately felt welcomed. They are open 7 days a week from morning into the evening. I've been taking the beginner Vinyasa yoga class with Ksenia for the past month or so and I've truly enjoyed every class. She has a very calming presence, I love that she provides feedback to improve your poses and she is very good at keeping you focused on your poses to get the most out of your session. I've been practicing yoga at Prema Yoga for about 5 years now and it has added tremendous value to my lifestyle, health, and overall happiness and peace of mind. I find the teachers to be the best around. I practiced more in the LA/Santa Monica area 10+ years ago, and this studio is definitely my favorite. It is very down-to-Earth, "no frills," and not pretentious or stuffy, but rather inviting, welcoming, and non-competitive. I've taken a majority of classes from Karen, Jenn, Christine, Barbara, Casey, and Kellie. Each have their own unique style, and I always walk away feeling more connected, grounded, and physically stronger. I love that the Evolution studio has added and offers classes such as HIIT and TRX. It's so nice to have a combination of flow and yin/restorative yoga classes, plus classes that strengthen and challenge the body over all, using your own body weight and not methods that further stress the body. There are so many classes offered at all times of the day to fit anyone's schedule between the two studios. I've attended wonderful workshops at the studio, including sound bath healing sessions, reiki+restorative yoga, and life bliss meditation. I find the pricing to be very affordable, especially the summer unlimited package. I have summers off of work, so it's nice to take advantage of daily yoga with this package. :) On side note, when I was involved in a car accident last summer and could not practice for a month, Christine, the owner, froze my 6 month unlimited package until I could practice again. My friend and I were looking for a yoga studio that's convenient to go to from both of our houses, and we found Prema Yoga. They have 2 studios that are a block away from each other. We have been to a few different classed and enjoyed most of them, but our all time favorite is the Saturday 9am class with Erica. She's awesome and makes the experience so great while also painful at times, haha. We have a package with them and will definitely go back when it's safe (covid-19). I have never taken a yoga class before. I am so so so so happy my first (of many) will be with Christine. She is amazing! I love that she is personable and shows you difficulty levels for most poses. There's structure and flexibility all rolled into one. Even with others in the room, she'll walk around and "fix" the way you were probably doing something incorrectly (that could possibly hurt you if you don't correct yourself). And it's not embarrassing when she does... I'm very very appreciative because, for the most part, I'm constantly second guessing if I'm doing it right. That's just the perfectionist in me I guess. Oh, and how awesome is it to know that your yoga teacher teaches at CSUN (yoga and lectures) and has a masters in kinesiology?! I doubt there are many yoga teachers as dope as that! Heehee read more

I H-D the opportunity to take a reiki and crystal infused yoga class from Tania at Prema Yoga and it was amazing! So relaxing and the reiki kept flowing throughout the day! Tania is so patient and wonderfully explains each pose with options based on skill level and the healing properties as well. I had never done yoga before starting prenatal yoga here in April of this year. Maureen is a wonderful instructor: very friendly, attentive, and helpful. She tailors each class to everyone's needs and switches things up each week so it stays exciting. It's prenatal yoga, but it will make you sweat! Also, just attended my first level 1 flow class with the instructor Kellie. I made sure to let her know I was pregnant before the class started and throughout the class she came to me with personalized modifications to make sure I was comfortable and still getting a full flow experience. She brought me extra blankets and bolsters as needed and placed them under my knees and legs for additional support. On top of that, her class made me feel like I had traveled to an alternate universe. I felt refreshed and had a great workout. Remember, I'm pregnant and a beginner so for others, more intense classes would be more appropriate. As for the front desk, I've always had a positive helpful experience with everyone sitting there to check people in. Everyone's been friendly, eager to give you the best deal for what you need, and clear about how many classes you have left in a package. I believe if you just want to try a class for the first time, it's free (not sure though). It's definitely worth a visit! read more

Love this yoga studio. My mom and I came here a few times during the summer and we loved the studio. I started with a Groupon which was well worth the deal. There's pretty much a class available at any time of the week. . Like any other yoga class, there are a variety of levels classes that you can take depending upon your experience level. You feel there's a personal care from the instructors, and each one is different. One of my favorite things about Prema Yoga are the supplies that are open to students to use during the class. It's always stressful coming to a class and feeling like you're unprepared so to have all the supplies right there is awesome! You really only need a yoga mat and an open mind for this yoga studio. Studio is clean and welcoming to newcomers. Parking is ample and the studio includes a retail area as well. It is so hard to find a yoga studio that's affordable and has enough classes! I love that they have a beginner and intermediate class. I've been really able to further my practice with arm stands and head stands in the intermediate class. I usually go to the later classes because of my work schedule. All the teachers are so welcoming and create a positive environment where everyone can grow. I love the way art is incorporated into the space with a lot of mood lighting. This studio is where my yoga journey began and i'm so happy I decided to check this place out! At the time i was new to the neighborhood and i noticed they had quiet a few yoga studios around the GH area but something about this place stood out to me. I joined the beginners class on a friday morning and i loved it. The yogi (hannah) was extremely nice and made me feel as if i've been coming here for years. Don't worry if this is your first time ever stepping inside a yoga studio because she does a good job at explaining every pose and making sure you are doing it correctly. -parking might be difficult to find if you don't arrive early or take evening classes since it is on a main st. But other than that I definitely recommend you check this place out if you wish to start practicing yoga. read more

I've been coming to this yoga studio off & on for about 2 years. Most recently I've been taking Saturday's prenatal yoga with Maureen from 11-12:15, I love her class! The studio isn't anything fancy but it's very big and they have all the equipment you might need (mats, blocks, bolsters & straps). The parking is easy on the street right in front or there is a small lot in the back. Only real complaint is that there is a karate studio next door and during the time I take class on Saturday's they are pretty loud. Christine the owner is very friendly and helpful to answer any questions! Took a yoga class here last week. I found the class through Meetup.com. Price was $8.00, very affordable. Kellie was the instructor, she was such an awesome soul. After her class and during our meditation/relaxation after, she came around and gave us a little shoulder and neck rub with an amazing essential oil. That was such a nice touch! this yoga class was perfect- but I don't know if it was perfect because I went to yoga at 10am on a weekday when most people are at work and so the class was pretty empty or if it was just a great yoga class. What I liked about it: 1. It had a great vibe and everyone knew each other. People had formed a little community. Even the instructor was really on a "I know you" level with everyone. 2. The instructor spent a lot of time on poses-emphasizing getting better at each pose and not just doing it for the sake of doing it. 3. I have always wanted to practice my handstands and because this class was small and we had some time- she gave us time to practice handstands on the wall and she even came by and helped me with mine. If I lived in San Fernando Valley- I would come here more often. Fortunately, my parents do live here so I know I will be back and now I have a yoga studio in the area :) read more

I was a little hesitant to go to my first yoga class since I knew nothing but I was welcomed with open arms and have been coming here ever since. I've had 3 different teachers and all have been great. Everyone is so friendly and they don't make me feel like I don't know what I'm doing even if some of the time I really don't. :-) Other than the amazing teachers, Prema Yoga, has really been a great addition to my life. The instructors are nice, the environment is welcoming, and the yoga is possible for people of every size, shape, and flexibility. Maureen teaches a prenatal yoga class on Saturday's that is just wonderful! I used to practice Bikram yoga before getting pregnant, and was worried that the prenatal yoga would be too mellow and unchallenging... boy was I wrong! Maureen does an excellent job with this class, making it challenging but not overly strenuous. I feel like I get a decent workout, a good stretch and relaxation from the class... which is exactly what you want from a Saturday morning prenatal class. Maureen also places a great deal of emphasis on opening the hips and strengthening the muscles that will be used during childbirth, as well as focusing on repetitive motions and breathing exercises to get us used to the rhythms of birthing. read more

MASTERS IN KINESIOLOGY What does that mean? It means she is a balanced yoga instructor. Not totally heady in the spirit of it all Not totally heavy in the physical of it all. A brilliant balance that helps me understand the anatomy of my body: We'll do a certain asana/pose and then she'll say to alter your hip or arm or whatever body part one inch to the left or right and HOLY HOLY WOAH it makes me feel like I'm learning about my body FOR THE FIRST TIME. Besides, it's what she once told me: "I wanted to be different than other yoga teachers. I thought to myself: How can I do that? Oh. I'll get a masters in Kinesiology." Being a mother of 3 and "user friendly" teacher along with a rather keen sense of when to be comedic and have her students take themselves lightly --when the pose is hellish- she nurtures and only means to be a guide on our personal growth journeys to our Inner Selves. and how amazing that it's right in Granada Hills. ;) rock on mama! read more

I am glad to read all these happy reviews, because Im all about the granada hills support. I wish I had the same experience. I have been doing yoga for years at various studios, and this was my first attempt at this studio, and with a prenatal class. First I got to class a little late, but I was still 4 minutes before class is suppossed to start. Class had already started. I get it sometimes they start a few minutes early no big deal so the woman at the door was trying to sell me a package (which I wanted) but I couldn't hear her so I said let me cover the cost if this class and we can go over packages at the end. She said she wouldnt be there but someone else could help me... Perfect! So I took the class, I dont know if the teacher didnt want to be teaching this class but there was no energy in the room. As I looked around most of the class had little to no form and she wasnt correcting anyones form. She wasnt even trying to help us prego ladies get into the correct positions. Teacher was not into teaching this class. But none the less at the end of class I decided maybe she had a bad day so I'll buy the package and if she isn't better next week I'll look for another studio. So upon leaving a very young blonde girl was running the register, I said I would like to buy the 14 day package. I already paid 18 for today but I didnt get a chance to go over the packages. She then told me she wasnt allowed to help me do that and I would have to pay full price for the package. I said I'm not paying twice for todays class and she just sat there smirking at me. So I left. Ive never been to a studio where it felt like they just don't like pregnant people. I guess if your expecting a class were the teacher is excited about your baby and really wants to help you stretch for the birthing process this is NOT the class. Im giving the studio 2 stars because it was very clean, and having all the supplies there is really great! But the service all around is terrible! read more

Worst customer service ever! I have been a martial arts instructor for over 25 years and a student of the arts for over 30, and as such I have always had an interest in yoga, although I've never trained in it. In particular, I had a deep interest in Reiki therapy. After doing some research online, I decided to consult a professional. Because Prema yoga is so conveniently close to my home, I decided to stop there on my way home from work one day. Unfortunately, the doors were locked and there was no one there, even though it was 2 o'clock in the afternoon. I decided to try again the following day, around 3oclock. But found the doors to be locked once again, and no one inside. After repeating this process twice more, I finally found someone at the location, however I didn't receive much guidance at all. In fact I felt as though I were more of a nuisance to the woman behind the counter than a potential client. I mentioned to her that I had interest in Reiki, and wanted to know more. But instead of telling me ANYTHING ABOUT IT, she simply gave me a list of class times and told me I could pay as I went, and then more or less sent me on my way. There were other students coming and going. They seem to be conversing pleasantly as if they were enjoying themselves, which only made me more excited at the prospect. However, I oddly found myself made to feel as an outsider, and not welcome in anyway. Almost as if my presence was intrusive. Needless to say this is not what I was expecting, and I left feeling incredibly discouraged. Being a martial arts instructor I am aware how students can feel this way when they are marginalized the first time they walk into a dojo. I am also aware that if you truly want to learn something, you can't let bad customer service dissuade you. It was my understanding that there was another yoga school just further down the street, so I decided to check that place out... unfortunately I came to realize that both locations were owned by the same company, and when I went to the second location all I was greeted by was another locked door. It is my understanding that yoga is supposed to encourage balance and serenity, instead all I found at this studio a was elitism and snobbery. I'm sure that this location is quite proficient in what it does at an expert level, however for someone stepping in to a new discipline as a beginner, I cannot recommend this location. There was no guidance offered, and clearly no concern for a novice who wishes to learn more. Quite frankly the impression I was given was that they had all the business that they needed, and mine was just simply not necessary... and that's too bad, because I really wanted to like this place. For the record, I have NEVER even written a negative yelp review before now, but then again I have never been in a position where I was so excited about a new discipline, (especially one that promotes good health) only to be deeply disappointed in the lack of professionalism and courtesy I experienced. Needless to say, this experience has left a sour taste in my mouth. However, it is my hope that this is not the norm for all yoga schools. read more

There is plenty of street parking, as well as a parking lot in the back. The staff members are friendly and knowledgeable. I found the most compelling aspect of the studio to be the schedule. The yoga class schedule includes different styles of yoga, including Vinyasa flow, Kundalini, and Yin. Their schedule diversifies often AND they host a variety of seminars/workshops available for everyone to convey a deeper understanding of mind/body awareness. They have mats available for rent, and blocks/straps/blankets included. There are antibacterial wipes available to clean off the straps. There is a bathroom in the back of the room.
