My mother-in-law died after…read morea two month stay at Timberlane Lodge.i wrote this review the day after her funeral so it was all pretty fresh for me. I'll start with her unnecessary passing. Sandeep, explained that he'd told the nurse caring for her to keep the railing on her bed down so she would not have a sense of being trapped. Ok, but-- this is a woman who really cannot walk unassisted without falling. And when my mother-in-law got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, guess what? She fell and broke her hip. Why had they left the railing down on the far side of the bed that was narrow and hard to negotiate? Why was the alarm not clipped to her nightgown? If you are going to insist that her rail be down, insist that the alarm be clipped. She is not capable of taking that off; her fingers could barely hold her phone. She fell on a Sunday night and it took until Wednesday for her to be given medication. Apparently, Sandeep says, this is completely up to hospice (and I believe it is, but where is the advocacy). It's funny that when we wanted to install her at Timberlane Lodge they were able to get meds immediately to alleviate her anxiety. I came down from MA with a friend of mine, for a three day. We wheeled her outside onto the patio and we were playing and singing old time ukulele tunes. Two of the other three residents enjoyed our singing ( the third was non-responsive). The next day Sandeep said he was going to limit my visitation. It was 2:30 in the afternoon and I was not to come back until 8pm. He said, you're being here makes them feel bad because they don't have visitors. People need human connection. But he insisted we could not come back until 8pm, after she'd had her evening meds and basically was asleep. (Remember this is one of three days I was intending to be with her and shortly after she broke her hip due to their negligence.) As well, he said, I was not to come visit at meal times and I am to go from the front door straight to her room because the other residents don't want to have to see me. Please note that when I could, I was bringing her food (because their food is little piles of non-nutritive crap: canned vegetables and elbow macaroni in what looked like melted mayonnaise but was possibly runny cheese) and I was helping out by taking the time to feed her. When we were interviewing them to decide whether to put my mother-in-law there they said yes yes yes to all the things I inquired about. Could she sit with us in the lovely living room rather than the big TV room? Yes of course. My mother-in-law is a picky eater I told them. If we buy all the ingredients for the tuna salad she likes to eat -every single day- for lunch would it be too much for you to make it for her? It's nutritious and she loves it. Of course, we will be glad to. Did they ever make it? No. But when I came to make it were there cans of tuna anywhere: nope. And yet all the other cans of food that I had labeled with her initials were all still there. The Wolfgang Puck soups that she loves. None of them had been served to her. Recently a friend of hers told me that when she went there they told her we can't figure out what she likes to eat. I had, with Mr. and Mrs. Sandeep gone over all the foods she likes and will eat. I feel horrible for not believing my mother-in-law when she told me how mean Sandeep and his wife Sunita were. I kept telling her, he's nice, they are here to help you. And then, two days after she breaks her hip and has been given no medication for pain management he goes to move her from the chair to the bed and tells me not to worry when she screams because she's faking it! He literally told me that. I said "no, she has a broken hip please be gentle." This is a tough woman, I told Sandeep, a woman who has had an arm set with out pain medication. She has had root canals without Novocain. She is not faking it. She's tough and if she's expressing pain, she's -in- real pain. And at one point I was going to give her a gentle foot massage and when I took off her sock I noticed her foot was -completely- black and blue. When I pointed it out, Sandeep said, oh that's probably from her compensating for her broken hip and putting more weight on that foot. It's hard to believe Sandeep is a scientist. One would not have a foot that is completely black and blue from putting a little extra body weight on it. Besides I told him: wrong foot. It looked much more like it had been stepped on; I can't imagine how else. It's hard to picture it being broken from the fall. Do not let your loved one go to Timberlane Lodge.

As a grandchild in charge of my Grandmother's care and not being local, it was difficult for me to find a place where she would be comfortable. Timberlane lodge is a beautiful home and I couldn't have asked for better care. The facility is also modern and very clean. My only couple bits of constructive feedback are, one, pre-surgery, they made me swab the inside of my nose twice with Betadyne, which has a sickening smell. Then, when I was rolled into the surgical suite, when they placed the oxygen hose in my nose, the strong odor of the new plastic tubing combined with the odor of the Betadyne instantly made me extremely nauseous. It was all I could do to avoid throwing up. It was AWFUL!!! The same thing happened again when I went in for my second surgery, in spite of them giving me anti-nausea medicine prior to going into the surgical suite. It makes me sick just thinking about it and I don't get queasy very easily. Also, we made a payment several weeks ago and then received a second bill for the same amount. When my wife called in, she was told that they are just now processing payments received 20 days ago. Very concerning and odd!

From the moment you walk into the facility and get greeted by the receptionist, quickly moved over to the "liability" station, you feel important and respected. Once it was time to be taken back into the prep area, I was assisted by very professional and personable nurses, that made sure I was as comfortable as possible and ready for my procedure. Sitting in my assigned bed, waiting for the next step, I had the opportunity to observe just how well orchestrated the entire organization was. Everyone knew their jobs and did them efficiently AND they truly looked and acted like they enjoyed their work. Such a nice blessing to see in this day of constant drama around every corner. I was greeted through each step and introduced to the staff member who would make sure al went smoothly AND they did. I moved through each step and was quickly in the recovery area preparing to wind it up and head home with a successful procedure thank you

Last year I stopped by the Apex office to inquire about hiring some cgs. We were already hiring cgs…read morefrom another agency, but they did not have enough staff to cover 24/7 care in our area. After a heart attack and stroke, my father requires 24/7 care and my elderly mother and myself cannot provide care round the clock. There were two young (20 y.o.?) ladies in the office. As I was explaining our situation, they asked some questions about what we needed. I told them a cg would need to do laundry, vacuuming, and light meal prep for my father. They immediately said, "well, our cgs will only do that for the client. If your mother needs help, you'll have to hire two cgs." I get that cgs are not maids or cooks, but light housework and meal prep is part of their job description with *every* agency. I wasn't asking them to care for my mother--who was able to get around by herself at the time. The staffers also told me that cgs would prepare meals only for my father, empty only his trash, etc. We're not asking them to mow the lawn, wash windows, do laundry for a family of 4, etc. But to say that a cg will not empty the trash in the kitchen bec my mother contributes some of it--well, that's utterly ridiculous. No way are we hiring 2 cgs and paying $16-20/hr each just for someone to add an extra egg to an omelette or empty a kitchen trash can every other day. In our experience with other agencies, most (and any GOOD cg) IS willing to throw a load of laundry in the dryer regardless of who it belongs to. There are only 2 ppl living at the house. When I was explaining my father's medical condition, I mentioned that he dozes on and off throughout the day. One of the young ladies was completely incredulous. "you mean, ALL DAY? He takes naps ALL DAY?" Um, yeah. Clearly she had no experience with 80-something, bedridden people, which is pathetic in her line of work. The other staffer did speak up and mentioned that yes, her grandmother did that. But young lady #1 was still in disbelief. How disconnected can you be from your client base?! After 10 min or so of discussion, it was obvious that Apex did not want us as a client. I was dismissed using the excuse that Apex doesn't really have cgs in the Flagler Beach area. Funny, bec I told them when I first came in that we were looking for help in the FB area, and that wasn't a problem then. Apex doesn't have customer service, and basically no real interest in furnishing caregivers. We found another local agency and have had some of the same cgs for a year now. Don't waste your time with Apex.

The sonogram technician is the only thing saving this from being a one star review. My wife is 33…read moreweeks pregnant. Starting around week 24, she began measuring bigger than she should, consistently measuring 3 weeks big. By the 32 week appointment, she was already measuring 35 centimeters. We have consistently asked our OB/GYN to do an ultrasound to confirm fetal age, since my wife is afraid she's farther along than they think, but he refuses. Hence, we found this place. I called and verified that they were able to verify fetal age, as well as weight and all that good stuff. I specifically explained our predicament. They told me that if I bought any package, I could add on fetal weight and that the sonographer would be able to tell us how far along my wife was, either confirming what the doctors were telling us, or confirming what my wife was thinking. Everything seemed good till the day of our appointment. First of all, there is no sign with the name of the business. We drove right by it, and then only after pulling up their website and seeing a picture of their store on the website was I able to realize where they were located. They've only been here for a month so maybe they are gonna get a sign, but today they were really hard to find. The day before our appointment we received an email telling us what we needed to do. It said to arrive 10 minutes early to allow for registration. So we pulled into the parking lot at 8:45 for our 9:00 appointment, only to find the doors locked. We sat in the car until 8:58 before someone finally pulled up and unlocked the door. When I walked in she asked if we had been waiting long. I answered "only about the time it takes to register," but she didn't seem to get my drift. After a short wait, we were called into the room. The sonographer put the jelly on my wife's belly and began to pull images up onto the screen. Almost immediately, she began doing measurements to tell us the approximate weight, but when I asked how far along she thought my wife was, being either closer to 33 or closer to 36, I was told that this far into the pregnancy, estimations are very approximate and essentially inaccurate and she couldn't really say with much certainty if we were 33, 34, 35, or 36 weeks. She could just tell us that we were in that general area, and said to go off of what our doctor was telling us based on an ultrasound that he would have done earlier on. This is totally opposite of what I was told on the phone, which was the main reason we drove all the way out here from Longwood. Yes, we wanted to see images of our daughter, but predominantly we wanted to verify whether we were actually 33 weeks as our OB/GYN was saying, or if we were in fact farther along as my wife is convinced we are. Then, because my wife was so far along, the baby is so big that there's no room to really move around freely in the womb anymore, so there was so much placenta and fluid and stuff directly in front of our baby's face, that it was almost impossible to get a good 4D image. We were told that this is very common in ultrasounds of babies this far along. Why we weren't told this over the phone, nor when we first arrived, I do not know. Had we known that most likely by this stage in the pregnancy, it would be impossible to get a good 3D/4D shot, we wouldn't have paid for that package. I would've just stuck with the standard 2-D ultrasound, since we were mostly here to verify fetal age, which as I just said, wasn't happening anyways. Essentially, this entire event was a bust, fueled by misinformation at the time of scheduling the appointment. Yes, this place does do very good 3D/4D imaging, and yes, they do have the ability to verify fetal age, but both of those things are virtually impossible to do this far along, and we should've been told that before they took our money and sent us into the room. In fact we should've been told that before we ever even were allowed to schedule our appointment and drive 40 minutes out here. As I said in the very beginning, the only thing bringing this from a one star review to a two star review, is that the sonographer at least felt bad that we weren't getting any images, and changed our 15 minute session to almost a half an hour, allowing us to just watch our daughter move around on the screen, almost like watching a video. It was a nice gesture given all the disappointment.
