We love Dr. Thompson! We have been going to PFP in Bee Cave for 5 years and we have never had any serious issues. Dr. Thompson has great bedside manner. She is very knowledgeable and always explains everything to my son and I as she is caring for him. My son loves her. The office is always so clean and welcoming. The staff is phenomenal. We feel so blessed to have such a wonderful doctor to care for our son. We have also been seen by the NP Kristen Campbell when Dr. Thompson hasn't been available. We love her too!! She is professional, knowledgeable and warm. On the rare occasion when my son has been sick they have everything in the office to check for flu, strep, COVID and they even have a lab in the same building which is super convenient. For sick patients they have a separate entrance and waiting room. They also have designated parking spaces where they can do testing from the car. The only issue we had in the entire time we were here was we were charged a co-pay that we shouldn't have paid but to be fair it was at the beginning of the pandemic and everyone was confused about how to bill for COVID. Once my claim was processed I was refunded the same day. I highly recommend this office! If I could give them more stars I would. read more

My updated review: It doesn't make sense to me that we had to go through all of this in order to receive the 6th of 6 months of medications that their policy allows. Now they are suddenly letting us have the 6th of 6 months of meds. Nothing has changed. They must have re-read their notes or something. They were in error with denying our pharmacy's requests for medication over and over again, since January 3rd. They should have given this matter more attention rather than just turning us away and saying no meds without an OV when an office visit wasn't even due. I had no idea until that a doctor's office could be so difficult. My previous review: Excessive appointments are required, and a lot of hoop jumping, before getting another 6 month refill for Quinapril. No matter if you were in their office just 15 days ago. Or at the cardiologist they referred you to. This has been a problem for a long time and I am finally switching doctors. Dr. Lye is amazing. She is patient, knowledgeable, and has an excellent "bedside manner" with both children and adults. My daughters never dread seeing the doctor, which is just such a wonderful thing as a parent. It is rare to find a pediatrician that is so great with kids, explains things in a way normal people understand, and also incredibly intelligent and an expert in their field. Do you know how hard it to find an DR and one that you trust? Well, we got lucky and found this clinic for my Mother in Law first, then I had to find a DR, I wanted to use her DR, but I found my DR here, although a man, he is very good and very thorough. I might be biased, his wife is my dentist (yet another review). My MIL Dr is the bomb and so is my DR, you must go and find your Zen. No one likes going to the DR, but it is important to have someone that has good bedside manner. I appreciate when my DR listens to me and is prompt with test result comments and posting in the portal. They will call you if something is wrong right away ( so far not a common occurrence) but they don't mess around. I rarely write reviews but felt it necessary to write this one. I saw Dr. Singal as a new patient earlier this year. She spent a grand total of 5 minutes with me, didn't ask any questions, was completely unhelpful in answering my questions and managing my situation. I asked for a well woman exam, she refused because I had one last year. I have a prescription I've been taking for YEARS and am accustomed to annual visits to manage it. During my first appt, she told me I'd have to pay for a drug test. Ok fine, paid my 70 bucks for a drug test. Then when I called in for a refill, they asked for records from my previous doctors office (another primary care doc, who had no problem prescribing me the medication due to her qualifications as a DOCTOR that give her the privilege to do so). Sent those over, and now, less than 3 months after my first appt, they're demanding another appt as a "follow up" which I've never had to do for this medication. I said it didn't make any sense that one PC could prescribe me medication, but Dr. Singal, who is an IM physician, could not and needed my PC notes to do so. Ridiculous, right? I talked to the office manager who literally told me "I know it doesn't make any sense but it's our policy" That comment is what made me want to write the review. Reading others reviews and experiences, I'm seeing this is a trend. The office only cares about CPT codes and getting paid. No focus on patient care. Avoid at all costs. I have never written a negative review in my entire life but felt it necessary to warn people about Dr. Gabriel and the Bee Cave practice. I'd choose zero stars if it were an option. As other reviewers already stated, they hold your prescriptions hostage and won't refill them, demanding an appointment. This is in order to generate revenue, not because a visit necessary. This happened to me over a basic 50 microgram levothyroxine prescription that I've been taking for decades. This follows a screw up last year when the doctor ordered the wrong blood test and by the time the staff got back to me, too much time lapsed for the correct test to be ordered. I was willing to give them another chance and twice more, I realized it's not unfortunate errors/miscommunication rather patients are treated as cash cows rather than human beings. Based on the reviews, Dr. Gabriel seems to be a polarizing personality, but I have nothing but great things to say about him. He's been my primary doctor about 15 years now. He is telling you not what you want to hear but what you need to hear, and he's certainly a very kind man. Dr. Sandy was my dr and left the practice so I had to go to Dr. Gabriel. His bedside manner, care and knowledge were poor. He'd be good as a basic dr if you don't have any health issues--otherwise not the greatest at listening or learning about any chronic issues. Find an internist not a family med dr. This is my first visit to this location after we moved to Austin 2 years ago. During my visit, there were no issues with the staff or the Doctor (Dr. Gabriel). All were friendly during my visit. Main problem, as others mentioned in their reviews, their policies/infra set up. Went for physicals on Friday, blood work was done and results were back on Saturday. My BP medication was supposed to have been called in on Friday (after physicals)......but he didnot. Receptionist said that they will get back right away ........but didnot. I called back on Monday (many times thru out the day) but got message stating that the staff was busy. got hold of someone on Tuesday..........they said doctor has the results in his email box but cannot release it to me until the doctor talks to me (and they dont know when he would call me). i called back on Wednesday about the status............but the staff said they need to make a virtual appointment to talk about the results. So set up for virtual visit for Friday. An hour before virtual call, staff calls me and asked me to pay $85 copay for the virtual visit (to discuss my physical results). Felt like the office was penny pinching (and delaying things) on everything............so cancelled virtual appointment. Feels like this office is understaffed and wants to penny pinch for every little thing. Glad i realized earlier. read more

Not a good experience with Doctor Gabriel: First, upon entering the patient room 25 minutes *late*, the doctor proceeds to *scold* me for using my cell phone. Note: I was sitting in the room for 20 minutes, I work in sales, and needed to take the call. Also note that I immediately stopped the conversation when he entered to be polite. Second he proceeds to review my MRI results (the reason for my visit), and it was clear that he had not reviewed my results nor briefed himself on my previous visit with him: (1) He opened with symptoms that I never had; (2) He failed to point to a concerning MRI result, nor could he answer my question regarding that result. Seems like a repeat theme for Doctor Gabriel. You have choices when it comes to care. I would suggest using them before booking your next appointment. read more

I absolutely LOVE this office, I take my kids to see their pediatrician, Dr. Thompson, and couldn't be happier with her service. She is very knowledgeable and will take the time to explain the reasoning behind any/all care decisions. Her staff is really great at getting back to us in a timely manner and the entire experience is seamless. I am very particular about who I take my kids to but Dr. Thompson and her NP Kristin Campbell exceed my expectations. Even when we can't work into Dr. Thompson's schedule, Kristin is an amazing provider and their style of care is very similar. LAZY, LAZY, LAZY, LAZY OFFICE STAFF!!! This is the most unorganized doctor office we ever been to, extremely rude rude staff. You have to been seen by the doctor constantly to get refills at this practice. We have had problems with one of our kiddos visits. My son got so sick because they kept telling us he had a virus and they couldn't prescribe anything, after 3 visits I took him to Bee Cave Pediatrics and they gave him medicine and he was fine in about 3 days. He had to miss 14 days of school in May because they kept misdiagnosing him! This time we had a two week problem with an RX that is still not resolved and when I called I was placed on internal hold so I had to drive up to their office and get it resolved. Nothing is urgent and there is absolutely no above and beyond in this office! It's been extremely hard to find a good doctor in Austin BUT this was the WORST PRACTICE that we have been to yet! read more

I moved here from Atlanta, and was hoping to get established with a primary care physician at Premier Physicians (Bee Cave). When I called to make an appointment, I let the appointment setter know I would be a new patient that needed to get a physical, pap smear, and refills. I also told them I would be arriving at 8:05am (rather than 8:00am) because I had to drop my children off at school. I was told that would be fine, but only if I filled out the new patient paperwork ahead of time. Not only did I fill out the new patient paperwork, I downloaded my records from my previous PCP from Atlanta and had everything ready for my appointment. I also fasted in order to have my blood work drawn. After arriving at 8:05 and getting weighed, the nurse took me back to the patient room and asked what the reason for my visit. I told her I needed a physical, a pap smear, and refills. The nurse told me I could either get refills or a physical; but not both. I tried to explain to the nurse that when I made my appointment, no one mentioned not being able to accommodate my needs. However, she cut me off mid-sentence and said, "Which will it be? Refills or physical?". When the doctor came into the room, I asked the doctor about the policy and was told that she could not give me a refill and physical in the same visit because I was late to my appointment. At that point, I knew that I did not want this doctor as my PCP. I was in disbelief! I have never had a doctor that could not give me a physical and refills in the same visit?! I will not be back. In the past, anytime I have ever made a appointment for a physical and pap smear, the patient room was set up beforehand. However, at Physician's Premier, the room was not set up or ready to accommodate the reason for my visit. read more

Do not go here! Worst experience I've ever had with a doctors office. Went in extremely ill, I was misdiagnosed and had to go back the next day to then be billed for the doctors mess up. On top of that, Billing is extremely rude and unavailable and unhelpful when trying to help with issues. They claimed they have called me & sent me messages for payment, when I have received nothing. I tried to call them and politely give them feedback and all I received was rude remarks from several people that "it was my problem and they can't help." Definitely not worth it!! Stay away from the Bee Cave location. Doctor Gabriele is offensive and ignorant. No Communication and when he does communicate get ready for rude offensive remarks. I've been 100% Sober since 1991 and he proceeds to ask if I'm going to Happy Hour and that my symtoms were because I was drinking alcohol!!! I was shocked and offended to say the least! He said that to avoid the symptoms I was having was to be abstinent from alcohol...wow. I said "you know I dont drink, haven't for years" I walked away..never to go back to this location! I was a first-time patient and scheduling was super easy and fast. The office was very clean and all of the staff were nice and courteous. I felt very comfortable and trusted what Dr. Kopecky had to say about my health. He listened to all of my concerns and gave reasoning to his answers in a way I could understand. The nurse that took my blood was AMAZING! I didn't feel a thing. My results came back quickly and communication is fast and efficient through the patient portal of Athena-Health. Misdiagnosed my wife twice, told her she had a strained muscle both times she visited them within a two week period. She actually had pneumonia, the delay in treatment led to her getting sepsis and having an empyema. Could have been easily detected with basic blood work or an X-ray, which they chose to do neither. Avoid this place at all costs. The front desk people are beyond incompetent. They made my wife cry twice on the same visit by saying she was not covered with valid Health insurance (which we 100% are). Long story short, the incompetent employees were attempting to verify our Dental coverage, not our Health coverage (we don't have dental insurance through the same company as Health). They also refused to just call the 800 number on the back of the insurance card (it took me less than 2 mins to call the number and verify the coverage). So, my wife cries. They finally figure out how to verify the coverage. But then tell my wife that she has since missed her appointment and to come back in the afternoon b/c that's the only time they can fit her in. Are you serious?!?! Your incompetence took up the whole appointment time, and now you can't even see her?!?! She walked out (crying) and never even saw the doctor. We even had to get a babysitter so she could go to this appointment. I am (was) a patient of Dr. Brimberry at their Southwest Pkwy location. We will never go back to any Premiere Physicians locations. They lost 2 patients in the matter of 20 mins. And Dr. Brimberry should know that this Bee Cave location has cost him a patient. I have had two experiences with Premier Family Physicians that bothered me. First I was having trouble sleeping at night and Dr Gabriel (who I had seen there for my physicals) was not available. I saw his LPA (who doesn't seem to be there any more). She decided I had emotional issues (from stress) and prescribed a mild anti-depressant for me to take when I couldn't sleep. Fortunately I had an appointment with my ENT (regular checkup following an operation from 6 months previous) the next week and also fortunately I didn't take any of the medication. My ENT discovered I had a sinus infection, and once it was gone (he gave me medication for the infection) my sleeping problems went away. That was experience 1, total misdiagnosis that wasn't even close. Experience 2 was a recent physical. I asked Dr Gabriel about something that I thought might be a problem. He immediately informed me that he would have to "charge" a different code to answer me. Net is a $100 charge to a "free" physical, to get his medical opinion of something that might or might not even be a problem. And it's NOT covered by insurance. Net is if you go in for your "free" annual physical, don't have anything wrong or it might cost. I remember a time when doctors answered questions like this as part of the annual physical. read more

I highly recommend Pediatrician Dr Carly Thompson and this office! We were in last week for the flu and the care that they offered me was such a high level! When my daughter tested positive for the flu, they made sure to get her straight onto tamiflu, which stopped the flu in its tracks! I've never seen anything like this! They were quick to get us out and over to the pharmacy and in addition they also sent one for myself and my other daughter, helping me out so much. Because of your care and forward thinking, my girls didn't get sick like I did and my flu is gone too and I am so grateful! Dr Thompson always spends time with you, listens, and also her staff is incredibly friendly!! Everyone you speak to is nice and cares about you! I am a recent patient of Dr. Gabriel and he has been great addressing my health and concerns. Recently I had been looking for a pediatrician and had no luck. A lot of run around and back and forth. Then I remembered that Premier has Dr. Carly Thompson. I scheduled an appointment and was scheduled quickly. I have to say that my 5 year old daughter was very much at ease and so was I. She made us feel very understood and she asked questions and listened to my concerns. I am beyond thrilled that I have finally found a pediatrician that can spend time and be a physician and not a drive thru service with a tight schedule. The office is great and I have not waited more than 10 minutes to be seen. All the staff is great especially Victoria in the front desk. She is courteous and efficient, always greets us with a smile. read more

The Premier Family Physicians are a wonderful group of doctors. I go to the Westlake office and the Southwest Village Medical Center quite often. Unfortunately, the Bee Cave office is very poorly managed and wait times are always over 20 minutes sometimes up to 45 minutes. It's not just me, as I have seen others in the office express frustration and leave. I would recommend against this office unless you cannot find a doctor somewhere else. read more

Dr Gabriel has been my primary care guy for 15 years. I started seeing him when his office was close to my house, but even when he moved out to Bee Caves I kept going. He always takes plenty of time to clearly explain any issues or options and to be sure you understand. All the folks on his staff are pretty cool too. The only way he'll get rid of me is to retire. They charge you to transfer medical records from one office to another. Seriously? Usually the protocol is to charge for records when handing them over to you. They said they were not charging to transfer medical records and now they are. They took over the practice Dr Gupta worked for, he was an excellent doctor. I wonder now if this is why he left, because of "policies". They operate like a franchise and their customer policies are not like those of other doctor's offices. Dr. Sandy, MD is exceptional. I've been seeing her for two years and she continues to exceed my expectations as a physician. She is easy to get an appointment with. She is experienced, knowledgeable in current medicine, as well as informative of other types of medicines and therapies, as well as being very attentive and does not rush me through the visit. She always asked multiple questions about symptoms and is truly concerned about your well being. She recently diagnosed a pain in my arm for a neurological problem. She referred me immediately and I was required to have emergency cervical fusion. If she hadn't helped me I could have ended up with paralysis of my legs. I've very grateful to her and her abilities to analyze the problem and work with me to come up with a good care plan. Don't count on them! My Dad is visiting and he needed to see a dr to simply get a blood test every two weeks to see if his blood is too thick or thin. But they required an office visit each time. Ok not ideal but we deal with it. Then he has to get a prescription filled here that his dr in Va had been filling for more than 15 yrs! But no pharmacy here can take the Va prescription so we have to see the dr again only to learn that this dr requires my Dad see him every week in order to get the pain medication that he has been on forever! He is 84 - obviously not a druggy! And the final blow!!! They called the prescription in to a different drugstore this time after the last two weeks at walgreens , it was at CVS - surprise ! Run around looking for a prescription all afternoon. Thank you drs for taking up all my time with my Dad going to the dr and picking up prescriptions! Obviously I am not happy!!! I've been a patient of Dr. Gabriel's for over 10 years. While I miss the convenience of the practice he was with, I stuck with him because he's a great doctor with a great staff. I can't recall a single visit where I waited more than 5 minutes in the waiting room. Each and every time I have an appointment, I see not just the staff, but I see the doctor. I appreciate that they don't pile appointments on top of each other, but give each patient their full attention. I've never known a better bedside manner for a general practitioner. Worst office experience of my entire life- sincerely shocked by the condescending treatment I personally received from staff. I set up appointments in advance and was extremely clear about exactly what I needed for my Study Abroad Health clearance needs for going over seas as the requirements are super particular. 1st time I went to the appointment none of my needs were met because of miscommunication in the office and I left empty handed after been treated poorly by all staff who were beyond condescending to me for absolutely no reason other than THEY had screwed up? Keep in mind I needed to leave work for these appointments. I had to schedule a second appointment, and this time I double confirmed with reception over the phone what I needed, yet when I arrived they had made ANOTHER mistake, and I left again empty handed and now past the due date of my needed forms for Study Aboard(again extremely condescending when I voiced my frustrations- maybe because I am a student??). Finally, at the THIRD appointment, I got what I needed and still had to return a FOURTH TIME to pick up forms. When I picked up the forms the receptionist proceeded to have no idea what I was talking about and I waited 20+ minutes for them to locate the forms I had called about an hour prior. She was super rude to me again and I left wanting to cry which is just crazy! Will NEVER return. read more

This Dr. Office is the worst! If there were a negative rating I would give -1! The nurse who saw me today laughed at me while I was in distress coughing! And Dr. Blair wanted to prescribe a steroid to help with the coughing! I expressed concern over taking a steroid due its negative effect, aren't you supposed to tell your Dr. If you have a negative reaction to a drug? Her irritation over expressing such a concern was incredibly insensitive! I guess in that office your just supposed to do what they say, anything less is unacceptable!
