I was receiving subpar healthcare in my small rural town, and found this practice of mostly advanced practice nurses. I have historically received the best, most thorough care from APRNs. I was NOT disappointed. I walked out of there feeling like I was heard and believed. I got a medicine change and something to whip my issues into shape. 24 hours later, I feel so much better. For the first time in over a year, I feel hope that I will be feeling awesome again soon. Also, it helps that this place is only 5 minutes from my place of employment! It's obvious this office does not have a good work culture. Staff seems to bothered by your visit. I wasn't the patient but I think there are a few inefficiencies that could be addressed, as well. Why ask a patient to do follow up blood work more than once? Test for everything while you're at it the first time. Well, it's not easy in that field, I'm sure, but you have to try a little when you're dealing with the public like that.... Too many others out there that will.... read more

Even though I only have Medicare, I am treated well here, all of the staff are very competent and helpful and answer questions and try to move my appointments when necessary, the new offices are very nice with easy parking. read more

If you are LGBTQ+ I would not suggest visiting this office. They have pretty outdated information about the sexuality and gender spectrum and I felt it pretty severely impacted my care. Some of the information they gave me about my risk levels of certain diseases was grossly inaccurate and proven to be so after a quick google search + double checking with my new, much more informed, primary care physician. They can't be bothered to learn updated health information about queer sex & relationships. They don't seem to understand the difference between sex & gender which I feel is very crucial to providing care to LGBTQ+ individuals. I specifically saw Amanda Mishra. Additionally their staff was really lax about wearing masks in 2020 which I found to be really shocking when I visited during that time. My new primary care physician is still enforcing mask wearing for all employees and clients well into 2022. I'm not particularly nervous about getting Covid, but I do worry about other patients who might be immunocompromised. read more

I've been seeing Amanda Mishra MD for the past year and have had an overall poor experience working with her and this primary care office. A few things worth mentioning: 1.) This office is SO outdated and it seems hasn't been updated since the 90's. It makes me feel dirty every time I step in the office. 2.) I never felt entirely comfortable speaking with Dr. Mishra. This is entirely biased on my personal experience and could just be due to the fact that our personalities don't click. Dr. Mishra didn't fulfill my medical needs (i.e I suffer from anxiety and rather giving me the proper medicine, she prescribed beta blockers). I'm 28 years old, by the way and do not suffer from high blood pressure or hypertension. 3.) The office staff is terrible. They are unfriendly and do not communicate properly with their practitioners. For example, I fractured my C1 vertebrae and recently got an MRI (approved by a different MD) and the office sent Dr. Mishra a direct digital copy. I made an appointment to see a specialist, and need Dr. Mishra to send me the digital copy so I can get the care I desperately need. I left a voice message and their voicemail greeting states they will return the call within 24 hours. .It has now been over a week and I of course have to follow up again. 4.) This office must use software at least 20 years outdated because they can't seem to keep track of anything except appointments; nor do they have a way to communicate complaints directly to practitioners. Only recently have they moved appointments virtual because of COVID; and even so, Dr. Mishra was 20 minutes late to jump on video conference. . . So I had to call the office to reschedule. I highly recommend against seeing anyone that works at this office. Save your time, energy and money by investing your health needs elsewhere. read more

I have been seeing Aline, who is wonderful, for years. But I've finally had enough of the forced yearly physicals and the extraneous charges. The last time I was sick and tried to make an appointment, I was told I couldn't be seen until I did my annual physical first (I was 4 months overdue). I'd recently had bloodwork and an EKG done elsewhere, so it was completely unnecessary, but they still refused to treat me until I had those same procedures done there. Because money. During my last visit, I also got charged for a consultation on behavior modification for smoking cessation. Our entire conversation about it consisted of me telling her I stopped smoking... last year. read more

Just called and tried to book an appointment with Dr. Raley and they would not let me book an appointment with him for a physical and check-up, only the nurse. They still resisted after I specifically said I had questions to cover with the physician. They put me on hold and then someone else came on the line and started giving some mumbo-jumbo reason why I shouldn't see the doctor. Seems bizarre that you call a doctor's office and only nurses are available. No disrespect to nurses, their jobs are important, but it appears they clearly they have been instructed to avoid booking appointments for the physician. Would go somewhere else. read more

I am still SO HAPPY with Aline. She is amazing at dealing, talking, and making feel at ease with all my check ups. I would recommend her to ALL my friends and family. Let me start this by saying two things, the staff here know what they are doing and I am not an easy patient. Over the years, I've had many a mysterious illness that most doctors and staff just give up on finding out what is really wrong. This is usually treated by addressing immediate symptoms but not finding a solution. In one year time, they have helped me to narrow and identify what other doctors have danced around for over 10 years. Since I was first referred here almost a year ago, I have had some seriously random illnesses and circumstances. I have scheduled appointments with Aileen, Mandy and Sally. Mandy is my primary, but each one can back the other up without missing a beat. Medical mystery or not, I have always left with a solution or plan in place after visiting with these brilliant ladies. They will look for the right solution first and still give you options. They double check medications to make sure that they will be effective, the side effects don't outweigh the benefits and that costs are reasonable. The assistants and front end staff are always easy to work with and happy to help. They will return your phone calls. Customer service and billing have never been an issue. A special place in my heart is reserved for the phlebotomist they have on staff. I am a hard stick. If you know what that means, then you will understand me when I say, she has reaffirmed my faith in the trade. She has never missed or left a large bruise on me. Disclaimer: I always bruise, but the longest any have lasted from here have been two days. (In a recent trip to the ER, the nurse not only gave up and left the room when trying to draw blood and I was left with a bruise that lasted almost 3 weeks.) Long story short, they are great. This office knows what medicine and healthcare is really about. When you're weighing your options of the fancy clinic with the million dollar machines or the staff that can diagnose and treat the real issue(s), think about this: Your health is the single most important part of the puzzle. I'm so grateful to have found ATX Primary Care. I have seen Dr. Mishra for years, and I still consider her my PCP despite moving away from Austin. Have been going to Dr. Raley for a couple of years and have decided that is enough. Only started with him after Dr. McMullen became ill & could no longer practice medicine (a GREAT MD, by the way). His nursing / lab staff are great, some of the office staff.... uh, not so. The nurse practitioner, Aline Zeringue, is outstanding and the only reason my partner continues to go back. Many of her female friends say the same thing and will follow her where ever she goes! She is the kind of medical professional you hope to find. I guess if I were to sum up my experience with the doc, it would be that at this point in his career, he is way past listening, caring and concern and all about billing and portfolio value... move 'em in, roll 'em out. The office visit itself was fine, but after going in for a routine physical, which is supposed to be 100% covered by law, I was sent bills for the bloodwork. My insurance refused to cover it because apparently it was sent to the wrong lab. The office staff implied that I needed to become proficient in medical billing practices to receive proper treatment under the law. Apparently it's up to me to tell them the name of the correct lab to send the blood work to. I was also charged for merely mentioning a previous condition. I received no medical care for it at that visit but was billed for answering honestly when asked if there were any prior conditions. I'm currently in a 2nd round of appeals and will take this to court if needed. There isn't any circumstance in which I will A) pay for this visit or B) return again. read more

I went to Dr. Raley's office because his Nurse Practitioner came highly recommended to me by a trustworthy friend. I've seen the nurse practitioner for the last couple of years, and felt that I had a mutual connection with her. I agree with A.R. that she is very accommodating about her time, and about answering questions, even offering her personal email address to do so. I wouldn't understand why she would offer her email until later, but finding it a kind gesture--and I still do--I was careful not to take advantage of this generosity. However, I disagree about her former nurse, Debbie, who was terrible about returning phone calls, and always had some negative comment to offer up about her own life situation when I was in the office. Debbie was gone within the first year, and I was told that there had been multiple complaints similar to mine. Until recently, I had only ever seen Dr. Raley peek outside of his office on one occasion. He struck me as having a negative, and egotistical demeanor, and I didn't find his behavior to be professional. Every time I would call to make an appointment with the NP, his staff would attempt to force me into having a physical. It got to the point that I would just tell them I was all up to date, as I did not want to see Dr. Raley, and this was partially due to negative comments about his skill level from a local nurse I know, who does not work directly with said doctor. The administrative staff is rude the majority of the time, unless they are just having a particularly good day, which is rare. The facilities are outdated and dingy, as noted by kathryn m. Drug reps frequent the office, promoting their wares, and often make it in to see the doctor before the patients with appointments. About a year ago, after having blood tests drawn, I was told the results would be forthcoming. I never heard from the office, and upon leaving a voicemail for the medical assistant, and not receiving a callback after a generous amount of time--weeks--and on top of the lack of staff professionalism, I decided it was time to seek the services of another medical professional. I found a very good doctor, but this past December I received notice that my new doctor had to retire unexpectedly due to health concerns which could potentially effect his ability to treat patients safely. Bummer . . . So I returned to Dr. Raley's office. Again the pressure to have a physical, etc. I informed the NP why I was there, I was honest that I'd been seeing another doctor (except for why) and upon her recommendation, I had more blood-work performed, and was told I would be notified of the results. I left very happy to have reconnected with the professional NP, felt that I'd been heard, felt as though we were a team, and with no idea that anything was amiss. Six weeks later, I still had not been provided with test results. Two phone calls, about a month apart, to the medical assistant's voicemail went unreturned. Today, I emailed the NP reiterating my desire to know my results and informing her of the lack of communication. I was informed that the phone calls had indeed been returned with detailed voicemails left for me (not true), and that a certified letter had been sent to me the week before (while I was on vacation--this was my first day back home), and that I was being discharged as a patient, AND that the letter would explain all. Well, the letter DID NOT explain why I was being discharged, and listed health concerns, none of which were new to my situation, and none of which are out of the scope of skill for a NP, especially one being overseen by a general practitioner. I'm going to take this as a sign that I don't need to be involved as a patient with this medical practice, but I would encourage anyone seeking a doctor in Austin to avoid this office, at all costs. It's just extremely sad to me that such a wonderful NP's hands are tied by the likes of this doctor whose attitude absolutely influences the general atmosphere of this office, except for the NP, who I hope will wise up and relocate to work with a competent physician and support staff in the near future. read more

I have been to Dr. Raley for several years and have finally decided he's not where I should be going. He's a lone practitioner, and that means if you have any co-pay on your annual check-up, you'll pay out the nose. My basic bloodwork and visit with a 20% copay was $400 out of my pocket. Also, he has misdiagnosed me in some very basic cases that have lead to major medical bills and even surgery. I had a high CPK level. This is often the result of having worked out before a lab test, but instead of suggesting I not work out for a week and come back to be retested, he sent me to a neurologist who subsequently (after more inconclusive tests) had me have a muscle biopsy. Much pain and several thousand dollars later, I was told there was no problem, I'd probably just worked out too close to the initial test. Also, I had an awful headache one day (it had woken me during the night); Dr. Raley's office suggested I go straight to the emergency room for a possible aneurysm. I don't believe the nurse checked with Raley, but she put me on hold for 5 minutes, consulted "the doctor" and came back telling me I really needed immediate care and an MRI. $2000 later, I had a headache. The emergency room physician asked me 3 questions and said any doctor should have been able to tell I had nothing more than nasal congestion leading to a migraine. read more

Amy Kowalski - the Clinical Nurse Specialist is amazing. I really like her and the other provider - Aline Zerinugue. I have been treated better here than at any other doctor's office. They take time with me to help me understand my labs. They treat me with respect and they are fun to be around. HIGHLY recommended! read more

I have been seeing Aline since she joined Dr. Raley's office a few years ago and have been really impressed by her expertise in medicine. Her open personality and kindness doesn't feel like a drag going to the doctors office. She actually listens to you and asks good questions to make a prognoses. As I have become older, more problems have come up and I feel completely comfortable talking to her about. (especially when I needed butt cream, by the way really helped, thanks!) the medical profession need more people like her. read more

While I have never seen Dr. Raley, I have been a patient of Aline's for over 5 years and have, and will continue to, follow her wherever she may practice. She is amazing. She was recommended to me by a friend and I always recommend her to anyone who asks me if I have a good doctor. She is crazy smart, professional yet not stuffy, giving of her time and advice and super personable. I've never been a fan of going to the doctor until I met her. Now I go knowing I'm going to have a pleasant experience with her and leave with the answers and medicines I may need to feel better. She spent the better part of this evening helping me get an emergency breathing treatment delivered to my house so I wouldn't have to go the ER at 7.5 months pregnant. That's what I call above and beyond, and that's one of many reasons I choose to go back to her every time. Best doc ever. read more

Dr. Raley is about the worst service provider I've ever dealt with. Be warned. Examples: 1. They will nickel and dime you to death. Although my insurance company covers 100% of my annual physical, I still received a bill for $435 related to the physical. When I called to find out, I was shocked to hear that the bulk of that was due to a "New Patient Setup Fee". Furthermore, for test results, the busy doctor makes you come in for an office visit (aka Revenue generating opportunity) and that cost me $168. 2. He will NOT talk to you on the phone. Any question, test result, etc you may need from him, requires an office visit. See #1 above regarding my thoughts on that. 3. His staff is so incredibly unfriendly. I had an urgent issue that was time sensitive and needed immediate attention. I am not kidding when I tell you that it was nearly impossible to get his lab technician to look up from her coupons to give me the time of day. It was beyond disrespectful and frustrating. 4. Very disappointment with this office and doctor. The office smells like BO and does not seem to be clean/sanitary at all. Their office visit charge is outrageous and if you list any of your prior conditions they feel the need to charge you an additonal fee calling it an office visit when all i was going for was a routine physical as a new patient. I went here for a basic physical and check up, which went well. I also wanted to discuss some treatment options for my specific case. Instead of listening to me they decided to try a lot of unique options which all ended up not working for me. They did however take a lot of time and office visits. After I had given up hope on these doctors I receive a large bill 9 months after my last visit, where they say thats why I own for all of their bad prescriptions which only made things worse. I don't recommend going here for anything other than a physical. read more

Hmmm. Am somewhat disturbed after having read many of the reviews regarding Dr. Raley. I met him only in passing today during my appointment with his nurse practitioner, Amy Kowalski. I can't comment at all about Dr. Raley since I am a brand new patient. My first appointment was today, and Dr. Raley was only present for a minute or two when Amy actually diagnosed me. I can say that Amy was absolutely awesome. I would definitely make another appointment with her. Her bedside manner was wonderful, and she was very easy to talk to and friendly. I consider these things to be very important in any doctor or nurse practitioner. I don't want to feel as though my doctor is just some robotic person with no personality, warmth, or bedside manner. Until today, I hadn't been to a doctor in quite a few years. I currently have pneumonia, so I had no choice in the matter today. I hadn't had a physical in about 15 years, so I figured this was why I had to pee in a cup, have an EKG, and have extensive bloodwork done. The chest x-ray made perfect sense since I have pneumonia. But now, after having read other reviews, I wonder if all the other tests were run merely because that is how Dr. Raley conducts his business. I basically had a physical of sorts today, which was actually good for me to have, but now I know to pay attention to my bill and to make sure in future visits that I'm not being lured into tests I don't need. After all, I'm not made of money. I'm now worried about the bill I'll receive and whether or not I'll be able to pay what my insurance doesn't pay. By the way, my 5 star rating goes only to Amy Kowalski. It has nothing to do with Dr. Raley. read more

Aline is the reason I have yet to move to the super-convenient wellness facility built at our office campus. (Don't get me wrong, they're great... just not 'as' great as Aline & team). Been going there for 10+ years; you never feel rushed, and she is very down to earth. Aline helps with practical (and often lower cost) solutions to what ails you, and always lets you know what needs to be done- and WHY. I have never left her office feeling like I don't know what's wrong, or what her treatment plan is. I am fortunate that I have good insurance, so I haven to had issues with billing problems- but even then, Aline is always aware of the costs and does her best to offer alternatives if available (note: never have I felt her suggestions were subpar for my treatment). Staff has greatly improved- even front office are more friendly and helpful. I have recommended her to so many friends and family who all love her as well. read more
