As first time home buyers we thought Erik was great. We liked how he taught us a few little things during his inspection and was very reasonably priced and was great at communicating. The PDF he provided with the inspection was great and well appreciated as well. That being said, now that we've been in the house for a few months we believe he really didn't do as great of a job as we had hoped and we wished we had chose another inspector, even if that meant paying twice as much and waiting twice as long for an appointment. There were a number of things (too many to include in depth here) that in hindsight seem completely obvious and we wished they had been pointed out by Erik. None of which were hidden or obscured from view at the time of the inspection. We were simply too naive and overwhelmed to notice them ourselves at the time. This includes mold, sagging floors/structural issues, gutter problems, plumbing issues, etc. We were ok spending the $8,000 or so to fix everything Erik did point out but to fix everything Erik didn't point out would cost us another $25,000. Knowing how much really needed to get done could have made a real difference. Upon talking to Erik after the review was posted he did mention several of our concerns were in line with a house as old as ours is and are therefore something he didn't feel was notable enough to mention or consider to be defects. Again, as first time home buyers we had no idea what was or was not something to be tolerated of an old home that would have been more concerning with a newer home. Some of these issues are still legitimate and should have been noted in the inspection report for sure. Erik is a great guy who cares tremendously about whether or not his clients are happy. We just feel this inspection missed the mark and is costing us a lot in the long run. read more

We were unhappy with the home inspector we used for our previous house purchase, so we knew we needed to find someone different this time around.
