Went for a first consultation with Dr. Ilan - the hand specialist because I've been having joint pain in both thumbs for 2 weeks already. I had a 2:20 appointment so I showed up at 2:10. I was not seen until 3:30. Also, to make matters worse, the girl next to me in the waiting room was apparently scheduled for 2:30. I would have hoped to have more than 10 minutes with the doctor since it was my first appointment. In talking to this girl a bit, she said she waited THREE HOURS for her first appointment. The office itself is little dingy looking - there are lots of plants but they're all dying or dead. The carpet was dirty, but I found out that they're getting new carpet this week. The doctors were meeting with website logo designers and such in between patients - literally running back and forth to discuss the changes in the building's design/logo while patients were waiting right in front of them. As far as the doctor himself, I really can't comment much because after waiting over an hour and paying a $25 copay, he told me to just "give it time." He came highly recommended by others, though, so I guess if he actually has to treat you he's good. Can't speak from experience. Also - they have a very nice website and even have an online appointment scheduler. Unfortunately, it does not sync up with their offices, so it's basically useless. read more

The receptionists here are completely rude. Upon arriving at the desk to check in, I stood there for five whole minutes being ignored and not even acknowledged. At my first visit, I was not only rudely ignored while trying to check in, but then I had to wait two and a half hours after checking in to be put in a room. I am currently in the waiting room now, and an hour has gone by since checking in. I do not appreciate the way I am treated by the office staff here and when I had to wait for two and a half hours at my first appointment, I was spoken to rudely when I asked why I had been waiting for over an hour. I have never waited so long for any appointment or been treated so poorly at any other kind of practice in my entire life. **I ended up waiting nearly an hour and forty five minutes this time. Dr. Ilan was great a and extremely helpful, and also very apologetic when he heard I had waited so long and was not treated very well. I found out that my long wait did not have to do with a delay, but most likely an issue with the office staff who did not check me in properly because appointments after mine were seen at their scheduled times. I was pleased with my appointment, but my treatment by the women working at the front desk are enough to make me never want to return. read more

WARNING!YOU BETTER THINK TWICE!!I have severe osteoarthritis. In 2014, I needed a total right shoulder replacement. I went to see Dr. Nicolas Bavaro, and chose him to do the surgery. Everything seemed to go well, and me, being so naive didn't think there was anything to worry about. When I saw him for post op exams, he always said how good the shoulder looked, and that I was coming along really well. About 9 months later, I started realizing that something wasn't quite right. I thought my shoulder looked and felt tiny compared to my left one. I needed my left shoulder replaced, so I chose an orthopedist that was recommended to me. When I was being examined by this second doctor, I asked him if Dr. Bavaro might have given me the wrong size shoulder because it looked so small. This orthopedist told me that it had to do with the muscle, and wouldn't say anything more about it. It turned out that Dr. Bavaro never reattached the muscle that goes on top of the shoulder. The only thing covering my prosthetic shoulder is my skin. My primary doctor urged me to go back to Dr. Bavaro and ask him about this, so I did. I literally asked him where my muscle was and why he didn't put it back where it was supposed to be, and he said, and I am quoting him, "I didn't have to"! So, I went on to tell him that I've developed so many problems because of this, and he changed his answer to the "muscle atrophied then". I think I would've noticed if my muscle died and fell off the top of my shoulder. He just didn't put me back together correctly! Because of this negligence, the muscles on the right side of my body from my neck to my lower back have to work harder to compensate for the missing muscle. Everything pulls to the right. I had an MRI in 2016 on my spine, and I've developed scoliosis from the constant pulling. I also get these baseball sized muscle spasms on the right middle of my back that are so bad that I can't breathe. My neck has discs that are bulged and pulled. The muscles on the right side of my neck are always tight and I get headaches. If I raise my hand, you can actually see where this shoulder muscle ended up. It's in a ball by my bicep. If I'm doing something like washing the dishes, I end up in excruciating pain all along the right side of my back and I have to stop. There is nothing I can do because I learned that the statute of limitations for something like this is 2 and a half years for a law suit. So, don't get yourself in a position like me. read more

This medical practice has the rudest and most unprofessional office staff I have ever encountered. The doctor was also very dismissive of my symptoms. When I finally went for a second opinion, my hand was so bad that I needed surgery to repair the damage. Stay away and find competent medical care elsewhere. read more

The office staff was inept and impolite. My emergency room doctor referred me to them and the first thing I asked was if they accepted my insurance. They said yes. I was in pain and needed the procedure from an orthopedic doctor very badly and drove 40 minutes to get to the office. When I arrived, they gave me four pages of forms and the final form asked me to sign taking full responsibility for payment if my insurance didn't pay. I told them I needed to call my insurance and the woman at the desk said condescendingly " That's not necessary. We take your insurance." I told her the form saying I'm responsible for full payment compels me to check. My insurance company said they were not in contract. The woman at the desk shrugged. No apology. Just a shrug. Beware of that final form before seeing their doctors. Easy for them to say they take my insurance, while sliding a form in front of me saying I am responsible for all payment if my insurance refuses to pay. In all my years, I've never experienced such poor office management and such impolite service. read more

I agree with the people who gave review about receptionist being rude. I understand that most of them in any doctor's offices are rude. I only know 2 places with decent receptionist. Anyway, I didn't even make it to see doctor because receptionist made mistake with appointment! I'm 100% sure I made it for today(yes, it happened today) because I have shoulder problem and took day off today so I wanted to see a doctor. I made one appointment with other orthopedist and they were only available tomorrow so I decided to call Premier Orthopedics to see if I can get my appointment today. I told them that I'm a new patient and want to see a doctor today. The girl gave me 2:15 appointment today so I made sure with her if it's for today. I went there 10 minutes early and the girl said it's for tomorrow. I explained that I made sure that it's today and the receptionist confirmed on the phone. She just shrugged and didn't care even though it was totally their fault. I know that receptionists in doctor's office are known to be rude but this is the first time they even made mistake with making appointment. I'll never go back there again. And the owner of this business contacted me saying it's not his office. I live in Rockland 25 years and I don't get mixed up with places. What mostly described in my review was about my experience in His office in New City. The owner mentioned that it wasn't his office and I told him I went to His office. Simply, I think he should look at his business objectively and make any adjustments necessary (educate the rude receptionist in His office) and move on instead of harassing reviwer. I broke my wrist and needed surgery to repair it. Dr. Elan had to put in a plate and a screw. The surgery was done in their off site facility. It went smoothly and with minimal pain. In less than 6 weeks I was able to use my wrist for most activities. Now I have complete use of my wrist which enables me to use weights and do full planks at the gym. I never expected such a complete recovery considering what a mess my wrist was after the fall. read more

I had nothing but pleasant experiences with this facility. The receptionists were beyond polite and patient with me when I was lacking materials they required as well as with my lack of answers to their questions. I did not feel rushed or shunned, I felt very welcomed and cared for. My experience with the doctor also went well, he used humor to help make me comfortable and he actually listened to me. I cannot believe how I was dismissed at this practice....I walked in for an appointment, after taking the afternoon off from work....I was very rudely, and rather coldly told, "we don't take your insurance"...They are contracted with my carrier, which I found out after I left and checked with them...My referral was APPROVED by the insurance before my appointment....When I called back to inform the ICY secretary that they are still contracted, and my visit was PREAPPROVED, she still turned me away, in pain... If they decide NOT to participate in a health plan, they need to advise the insurance carrier to REMOVE them from their provider list!! We have athletic boys who occasionally break bones. We have gone to urgent care 3 times and have been misdiagnosed each time. We now go directly to the group and go to the designated doctor for hand, foot or knee. Consequently we have seen every doctor on this medical team. Highly recommend their honest and direct evaluation, clear outline of options and effective remedies. BEWARE! BEWARE! BEWARE! 25 YEAR OLD DANCER HOBBLED BY THIS PLACE -Sept 2015 had a loose body in my kneecap identified by Dr. Goldmark (Great doctor, since retired) -Symptoms went away until March 2016 so did not have surgery -It came back, new surgeon (Dr. Bavarro) coordinated surgery without doing any new imaging on a moving object that he knew moved around. He promised a 2 week recovery -2 months later and still having major complications, can hardly walk after what they put me through -When I discussed my pain with him and the PT staff they said I was "typical of someone with their first knee surgery" -I came to find out from another doctor I tore my internal stiches during physical therapy and I likely have some sort of issue with my patellar tendon caused during surgery or PT (waiting for HSS to do their own MRI for accurate diagnosis) -He lied in all of my medical records about having issues before surgery that I was dealing with after he operated (i.e. said I had swelling for 5 months, said pain was worse before then after, said I work 12-13 our days on my feet...all lies that anyone with a shred of intelligence can see is his way of covering himself) -He was in such denial about hurting me he even sent me for blood work when I complained to rule out having lyhmes disease or arthritis!?!? What a joke! -OH YEAH, BEST PART, the loose body he was supposed to remove...is STILL IN MY KNEE!!!! Another competent doctor did a simple X-Ray and saw exactly where it was and why he missed it. What was he thinking?? I'll just go digging around until I find it?? That worked out great... **If he hadn't been negligent, maybe I wouldn't be using a cane at 25 years old!** Probably will never dance the same again, and at some point I'm going to need to get operated on again. Reception rude, Office Manager (Kim) is also rude, arrogant, nasty. The Doctor (Goldmark) charged my wife a $166.00 for a wrist brace which lists for $17.45. When we complained they lowered it to $25.00. We returned the brace to the office. BE CAREFUL they are ripping off their patients. I have the invoice if anyone is interested. BTW you can purchase the identical brace on line for appx. $12.00. Doctor refused to talk with us about this issue. I have been seeing both GOldmark's for 35 years Boy have things changed. Was not very happy with the way I was treated by the Office manager, and disappointed with the Surgeon (Dr Bavaro) who performed shoulder surgery on me. Very cold and the Hospital in Dobbs Ferry is one I would recommend to stay AWAY from as if you go there on a holiday weekend or stay more than a few days for surgery, they were not well staffed to handle the patients. My surgeon wanted me to have p/t there to keep an eye on me and made arrangements that I would not pay co payment On my Aug 24 visit 2011 I was told I couldn't see doctor until I paid $400 balance due and wouldn't explain and asked us to leave if I don't pay and called the police. They asked what the problem was and we told them but paid since I was supposed to have more p/t and liked the physical staff. When I kept complaining about my hand burning and hurting and not my shoulder the Doctor Bavaro instructed them to have me hold ICE in my hand. When I did I screamed and said its worse and dr still didn't acknowledge my complaint. Therefor I needed to see dr Bavaro and wasn't treated well by him and was told my p/t was done and to have o/t. THE THERAPY STAFF PEOPLE ARE EXCELLENT PEOPLE but no way was I going to ever go there again. DUE TO THE LACK OF KNOWLEDGE OF MY SHOULDER SURGERY WHICH I WAS TOLD I'D BE THE HOSPITAL OVER NIGHT IT TURNED INTO ALMOST A WEEK DUE TO COMPLICATIONS THAT I DEVELOPED A FEVER AND STILL COMPLAINED THAT MY HAND WAS KILLING ME. PS. I HAVE BEEN LEFT WITH PERMANENT NERVE DAMAGE IN MY LEFT HAND WRIST TO ELBOW AND ITS AN INVISIBLE NON CURABLE disease called CRPS RSD CHRONIC PAIN RATED 10 AND THE MOST PAIN EVEN OVER CANCER ON THE MC GILLIS SCALE. The receptionists at the New City office were extremely unprofessional and rude. I had the pleasure of having my paperwork ripped up in my face and thrown at me.They gave me an attitude when I inquired about HIPPA information and I have every right to question where my health information is going. To make a long story short I ended up walking out because the secretaries made me feel very uncomfortable. When I called them for a number to corporate they told me in a very annoyed and unpleasant tone they would look into it. I then pressed them further to speak with her supervisor and she put me through to KIM the apparent manager of this disgrace of an establishment. Kim refused to give me her last name (she kept saying: "I'm the only Kim in the office"). I wanted to speak with someone about the way in which I was treated by the secretaries at my appointment. I wasn't even able to see the doctor because I was so upset with how they were treating me. It also says something about the business in general when there is a blatantly obvious issue with the women at the front desk in NEW CITY and they are still working there. In a job market like this I would think you could be a little bit more picky and hire secretaries who are PROFESSIONAL. I am glad I made a smart decision as a patient and decided to go elsewhere.
