And this is not a lone event, ever since moving here over a decade ago, I can vouch for extremely great services rendered. To my experience AZ out performs Florida, DC, Maryland, Florida, Oregon, Virginia and Louisiana both online and in person. Kudos well deserved.

AZMVDNow is a HORRIBLE online service. Tried updating my DL with new home address and decided to…read moreupgrade to Travel ID. DO NOT waste your time doing anything with your DL on AZMVDNow site. After you upload all the extra documentation to verify your address, it takes you to their shopping cart. But rather than just paying for the upgrade service, you pay to "fund" a personal MVD account first, then their supposed to use those funds to pay for the upgrade. However, anything with DL's is different. If something goes wrong with renew/replace/upgrade process (denial or timeout, etc.) you cannot use reuse those funds and must "fund" the account again with another $25 and then request a refund, which you also cannot do for at least 7 days. Absolutely absurd! Its a simple shopping cart - dont make it so complex! The CIO/CTO for AZMVD should be dismissed for incompetence.

I went for registration renewal once & the other times were for my son to get his driving permit. He paid a fee and has a year to pass and can test as many times as he needs (once a day). People with appointments or walk ins can check in at one of the kiosks in the lobby. You then will be directed to which line to wait in. (A B or C) I was called to the counter at 9:26 am and left the building at 9:39 am. Carmen was knowledgeable and kind. The clerk told her she had temporary status and could not get a travel id, which was not at all true based on the documents she presented. So I went with her this time to point their error out and get the problem corrected. The staff managing the queue asked us what we were there for. We explained the situation and her documents, and she confidently stated that we could not get a travel id, and that there was no error by the previous clerk. When I insisted that both she and the staff from the prior visit were not correct, that the travel ID document requirement listed on the ADOT website and official form (Form 40-5144) confirm that my wife's status makes her eligible, she then jokingly, rudely retorted with " we're hiring if you want to apply", smirked and drew the laughter of several in the queue behind us, in an attempt to humiliate me. This is a government employee, working in a facility that handles state licenses and travel documentation, confidently incorrect and attempting to belittle me with sarcasm for pointing out basic facts she apparently doesn't know. Imagine having to deal with this unprofessional, untrained, clueless and rude staff twice over. We proceeded to the window and this time were lucky enough to *finally* interact with a third employee who knew basic, fundamental Arizona travel ID laws. She accepted my wife's documents and successfully processed her travel ID but made us pay again even though it was their mistake. What a horrific experience for something that should have been easy and straightforward. Do yourself a favor and never visit this facility like we made the mistake of doing. It is apparently filled with workers who do not at all know the laws governing the IDs they issue, yet act like they do and arrogantly so. And to the employee who cracked the joke about me applying to work here - hard pass, because apparently I'd have to be spending all day correcting my colleagues on basic information they should already know to do their job.

No more stressing about long lines and rude employees. Also, if anyone didn't know, you can transfer your plate from one vehicle to another for a small fee, if you want to keep your plate- AND you can get reimbursed for your tabs if they still have time left on them until they expire. I,e; my tabs didn't expire until October 2026 and I had to register a new vehicle, so I got $33 back to put towards my new registration! The Best Buy Title staff were very nice, courteous and professional and quick. I have a special needs child and she needed an ID. They were extremely patient and kind to her. Three years later we went back to update our drivers' licenses to the travel ID. They are still very nice, courteous and professional. The transaction for myself and my husband was fast and efficient. Usually not a lot of wait time either.
