Being from CA I had no expectations when I moved here and had to deal with ADOT. I have been pleasantly surprised. Unfortunately, my Travel ID has been problematic ( not due to ADOT) since decades ago the State Dept. added my maiden name to my passport as my middle name. I can't say enough good things about Melissa and Joyce who I am hopeful finally have my identification straightened out. It's got to be difficult dealing with many customers who are angry at you even if it's not your fault and their courtesy and helpfulness were greatly appreciated. read more

Unreal. I wish this wasn't a necessary service. I feel like you must have to be specifically trained to be as unhelpful as possible to get a job with AZDMV. All I have been trying to do is get a Travel ID upgrade and have properly entered my information and paid the fee twice. Then I get a message that it has been denied, but not a single person I've talked to (5 total) who could tell me why or give me any explanation. Can't wait to move out of this state. read more

Try as I might to explain my predicament, the agent told me "I am sick and tired of trying to tell you what to do and hung up on me AFTER I HAD BEEN HOLDING FOR 30 MINUTES. So, I spent my Friday afternoon replacing my driver's license because someone had helped themselves to the contents of my wallet over my lunch time. :( This experience at the DMV office at Central and Baseline was actually pretty painless overall. The place was PACKED when I got there but I got in and out in under an hour. The process seems fairly efficient and folks were in an overall good humor What surprised me the most was how kind, patient, and pleasant the employees were. I got a smile and condolences from each one I talked to. I did quite a bit of people-watching while there and saw the same behavior being exhibited toward other patrons as well. Nothing much to say about this office. If you have to do business with certain offices then you have to go through security. Parking in back easy to find a spot. just turn right before you go through the tunnel on 17th ave going south. This is not a MVD so do not go to this office for tags ok. I renewed my vehicle registration here and they said it would take up to 6-8 weeks to deliver my tab due to COVID. However I renewed it in July and it still hasn't come! I have called the phone number that is online for a few weeks, and even today, I made a crazy attempt and called them over 37 times and didn't answer any of my phone calls. They must either have no one taking calls or just one person. This is absolutely ridiculous. When I try to order a new tab since the first one never even arrived, its making me pay $50 when it was their mistake from the first place. read more

I had such poor customer service with ADOT MVD. I felt totally disrespected and insulted. My order was placed and I never received it. I called in only to find out that they had shredded it because they could not confirm the address and my fee that I was charged basically became a donation to these criminals called the MVD without ever notifying me of the situation at all. Now I have to repay the fee and re-order. Couldn't be more inconvenient. I couldn't be more dissatisfied. And employees were not even nice about handling the situation whatsoever. read more

It is no wonder that Arizona government agencies are not members of the Better Business Bureau; wouldn't matter that their performance is F- as there is no alternative for the likes of Motor Vehicle Division. It's sad enough that they consider a tax paying resident's right to drive a privilege... but, that's a topic for another time. This posting is a legitimate caution to all Arizona residents buying vehicle license plates and/or renewing vehicle registration. The MVD policy is pre-paid, use-it-or-lose-it; no refunds. Why should this be a cause for concern? Simple... if you renew your registration for two years (there is a paltry discount, the real value is in the convenience of not having to wait in line for an inspection in year two), and you relocate (for any reason) outside of Arizona you are not entitled to a single cent for the unused time on the registration. Renew for 24-months, move after 1-month and you are out the cash for the remaining 23-months. Who could run a private business with this customer service policy and expect to stay in business? On a sidebar, if it is any consolation, the MVD will put to use your non-refundable registration fees harassing you my mail for registering your car in another state, changing your car insurance to another state, and ultimately suspending (without refund) your Arizona registration. Oh, and don't forget the reinstatement fee notices that follow the suspension notices! Moral of the story... unless you are 100% certain you will be alive and living in Arizona for the term of the registration, do not renew for any period longer than the required minimum. read more

My fiancé and I have visited the Motor Vehicle Division in Glendale 3 or 4 times the past 2 weeks. We were in the process of him getting his drivers license back. Of course every time we arrived we got the typical no smile no hello, just a "next" or "can I help you" (in that I'm annoyed it's busy I hate my job tone of voice) I guess since they do not work in "retail" they do not need to greet guests as they enter their facility. What I'm really upset about is that we were given false information. The first visit my fiancé was told that he needed to bring I one document, and a payment of $155 then he would be able to get a interlock and then he would receive his driver's license. (Yes it's for a dui that happened over 10 years ago I want to say, but the point is he is trying to make things right and do everything the correct way). We returned 2 days later with the document and ready to make the payment so we could move forward with the interlock, when we reach the front counter the not so nice lady flat out tells us no you can't get your license of course we both wanted to argue and explain that we were told that he could if he follows all the steps given by a fellow team member of hers but instead we stayed positive asked to stand in line and speak to someone else, we stood in line listening to others in line with us talk about how bad the customer service was there and how no one their gives the correct information, no one is on the same page, we stayed out of the conversations because we were trying to keep positive "he's getting closer to getting his license back" so we ended up speaking with Diana who got our hopes up high we walked out of there happy and ready for the interlock. She told us all we needed to do was get the interlock placed, return with the paperwork showing it was installed, his documentation they needed and the $155, she also stated that the lady upfront didn't do her job correctly, we even joked with her asking if could see her next time we came in and she replied saying just stay away from the ones in training, I must say she was the only one who greeted us properly and actually smiled. So we made an appointment went to drop the vehicle off to have the interlock installed, with very little sleep we both work late nights/grave, my fiancé signed the contract for the interlock company, his picture was taken, he made his payment and received his paperwork confirming the interlock was going to be installed. There was a wait for the installation to be completed so we were told we could take the paperwork to the MVD and finally get his drivers license!!! We were both excited that he would be receiving his license and we wouldn't have to go back to MVD for a while. When we got there he got his picture taken and we were to stand in line, of course the lady we got to see was the lady who had told us he could receive his license, but hey we were told by another employee there that she was wrong so give her the benefit of the doubt, yes of course we were not greeted but who cares by now he is getting his license and we just grew on thinking no one at the MVD smiles or greets so whatever, and BAM! She says you need to complete a revocation packet and start all over, hmm no one else has told us this and we have a dead line, why are we getting different answers, we get an eye roll and a hold on while she walks away to speak to her supervisor, she returns saying you have to complete the packet the one you did before was in 2017, ok but how come you're the only that seen this now and you didn't explain to us last time you just told us no you can't get your license and why did two of fellow co-workers not bring this up? Of course we asked to speak to a manager so she walked away returns a few minutes later telling us to move to another window and wait for her manager because she has to take care of other guests. So we waited at the window for the manager, who approached with guess what not a proper greeting but we were over by now. She apologized and said the packet had to be completed again, ok fine but why were we told by 2 people that we were able to move forwards if we provided the proper documents and payment?? Her answer was I don't know they will be trained again, really that's it? She also said "we are not a retail store we can't just fix what's wrong" of course this is not a retail store, guests are properly greeted at a retail store. I was so upset I could of cried, he was and is still on the right path of getting his license and shut down by false information and cannot get out of the interlock because the contract was signed. We were given a number to file a claim. We asked for the names of the ladies who had spoke to us at our visits but were told they have no way of tracking who all we spoke to, which seems odd to me being that they work for the state. I would think that when an employee looks up someone's information there is some way of tracking but maybe I'm wrong. read more

Our son just got told that he has to pay a $500 'abandoned vehicle' fee on a car that he sold 5 years ago !!!!! WTF !! Who keeps old car paper work for years after a sale??????? So recently I found out my registration was suspended due to a mix up in my insurance. I found this out when I attempted to renew my registration online and the website continued to tell me there was no record found. When I called up ADOT, they told me I needed to fax in my insurance card and the previous one along with my military orders (I'm in the US Army). I had faxed in those documents the same day from a local UPS store and was charged $4 for the fax. A few days later I called back to get a status update on the paperwork I faxed in. I was told no one received it. I then asked for some contact information to anyone so that I can verify that someone received the fax when I send it. I was then told that when I can renew my registration online that they got the paperwork. So I assume that if they didn't get the paperwork then I'm supposed to just sit on suspended registration until a miracle tells me otherwise. A week later, with no change in status on renewing my registration, I was told that no one received my fax and that I need to resend the information again. I informed them that I will not be sending faxes over and over again at $4 per fax just because they can't get their mess in order. They are complete garbage and will certainly lose your information if it is not in 72 point font. I'm only going to send a fax one more time before I start demanding refunds for their failed mistakes. I can't do nothing about not renewing my registration but it certainly sucks that we have to use such a garbage company to do it through. read more

I could not believe the prices some were paying for used vehicles with more than $250K miles on them. An interesting inventory including an antique fire engine. Was calling to address several issues I'm having including not having received my renewed registration sticker, my address having not been updated when I was given the impression that it was, and to navigate a unique situation. The lady on the phone was extremely rude, obstinate and presumptuous instead of listening to what I was saying and god forbid she actually make an attempt to help me solve the problem and navigate the situation. I ended the call after close to 10 minutes of her getting me nowhere but more pissed off and frustrated. Thanks for nothing. read more

Overall, no issues when canceling the ownership of a vehicle. The kicker is that you apply for a refund on the old plate, you are charged a $12.00 processing fee. Complete ripoff since I had already paid for the plate. If it was a dollar or two, not a big deal. read more
