This was the worst experience I've ever had with an optometrist. I had one of the pads of my glasses (I had bought there) fall off. When I brought my glasses in they claimed I must have glued them on which I had not ..it simply fell off and they said that they didn't have a replacement pad and would have to order it and it should take a week. Two weeks later I checked in and they said it hadn't arrived and as they looked at they're computer they said "oh it looks like these glasses are out of stock but they could get me a pair in red. As I'm sure I looked quite puzzled I said" I thought you were ordering me a replacement pad?" "Oh no it's broken from the glue so we ordered a new pair!" I was frustrated and decided to go back to my faithful standby...LensCrafters in the mall (they were under construction before and why I tried this new place). I went in and told them my story and the very friendly front desk person asked if she could see them and took them into the back "come back in 10". I did and the pad was fixed and she said you've been coming here for so many years - no charge". Friendly fast and resourceful - never going back to Premeire and neither should you. Have you ever been to a doctor's office where the front office staff is short with you and then you end up waiting for 40 minutes in a small room and the doctor whisks in and spends 12 minutes with you? That sucks. Premier Vision Optometry is the polar opposite. I stopped by for a first time appointment for a comprehensive eye exam. I made an appointment via telephone a few weeks ago. My appointment started on time with optician Krista who is the pinnacle of customer service. She is friendly, knowledgeable and patient. After a few routine tests with Krista, Dr. Yang came in and performed her assessment. You can immediately tell how well she knows her craft. She educated me on my congenital cataracts and how to prevent it from worsening, discussed other tips for eye health, and skillfully conducted a full eye exam. Despite Dr. Yang's amazing expertise, she was still warm and patient with my many questions. After I got a copy of my prescription, there was no pressure to buy from their store: which is so ethical and appreciated. Everyone has a different budget and sometimes I buy my glasses online. A few days later I had a question about my prescription, I was able to speak to Dr. Yang on the phone immediately. Again, just stellar customer service all around. I'll be honest, due to numerous healthcare issues, I utilize healthcare services a lot -- and I can be somewhat picky and I expect a high standard of care for all the money I'm paying! Came here to get an eye exam today after my contacts mysteriously crapped out on me. I really liked Dr. Yang-she was thorough during the exam, let me know exactly what is covered by my particular insurance, and guided me through the exam really smoothly. I can tell she has a lot of experience, and she took the time to explain various things, like how UV rays and wearing eye makeup can damage our eyes, and how to minimize those effects. I've been wearing glasses since I was in third grade and this honestly was the best and most comfortable eye exam I've had. They do take VSP insurance if anyone is wondering. Added bonus is easy and free parking in their own plaza lot. read more

If you hate getting air puffed into your eyes during your annual eye exam, then come here!! =] I finally got my EyeMed insurance and was looking to switch to a new optometrist. I was looking through the list of doctors in my network and looked each one up through yelp. Premier Vision Optometry has 5 stars and I read that PVO has new technology which doesn't puff air into your eyes! I was sold on that! The office hours during the week didn't work for me since I work during the time they're open. Fortunately, PVO opens on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month (I think. Be sure to call and ask) The office is located on the corner of Duarte & Santa Anita in the same plaza as Honey Boba and El Pollo Loco. There's plenty of parking. The office isn't too big or too small. There's only 3 people in the office: 2 assistants and Dr Tsai. The assistants were super friendly and knew exactly what they were doing. Dr Tsai is just amazing! She walks you through the entire process of your eye exam, she explains thoroughly what the results are and how you should take care of your eyes. She was so kind to give me some goodies to take home! =] She explained to me that my eyes were a bit dry and that I shouldn't wear my colored contacts too often =x however, she said I have healthy eyes! But blind nonetheless =P she's very understanding too, suggesting that if I do wear them, to only wear them when I go out at night. She fitted me for a new brand of contacts, the Air Optix (I've always worn Acuvue Hydraclear) which I can wear for a month long as opposed to two weeks at a time! I'm currently trying on the 1 month trial, so I will go back and let her know how it works out. I also needed to get a brand new pair of glasses. The staff was so kind to inform me that it's better to use my Eyemed towards my glasses instead of contacts. My glasses were quite expensive, only because I purchased a pair of Gucci, but after going through everything my Eyemed would cover, my glasses came out to $295. not bad. The assistant (can't remember her name) was super friendly and patient. She went through almost every pair they had and selected ones she thought looked good on me. A+ treatment! She went through line by line the costs of all the add ons and broke it down for me. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my visit. I've recommended Premier Vision Optometry to a lot of people already. So my dad saw a ad on TV (Chinese) for their grand opening special and scheduled an appointment yesterday. I was just back from NorCal and took him to PVO. The place was very clean and organized. The front desk receptionist was very good. Since my dad was no good in English I had to stay with him in case they spoke english only. As it turns out, Dr. Tsai did know mandarin, but it was kind of a mix of mandarin and english which would confuse my dad sometimes, but no worries i was there to translate when it was english. There was a moment, when it was just my dad and me in the room, I told my dad that she's probably ABC (American Born Chinese). I myself am an ABC, but my first and main language up till 8 was all Chinese between my parents and me. As the session went on, I was very impressed with her work and focus despite the fact that I was sitting there watching and translating, which must have made her nervous. I communicated to her in english and she's definitely the more "hip" as some reviews have mentioned. So the shock of my life on this day 40 minutes into the session. My dad received a call from a friend and he began speaking Taiwanese for a bit before he hung up. Dr. Tsai interrupts in Taiwanese and say's she didn't know that my dad spoke Taiwanese, or she would've been speaking it before since she grew up speaking Taiwanese with her parents. So from that point on, it was just Taiwanese between them and i found myself just dazed in the big surprise. Bottomline: Great place, great doctor, very friendly staff, easy-going, will suggest family/friends. read more

Wonderful experience! I walked in without an appointment on a Saturday morning and was able to get in. Everyone is super friendly and excited to have me since this was my VERY FIRST eye exam ever! I had recently realized that I needed glasses so I was nervous about any eye poking or prodding. Dr. Tsai was SO friendly and made things super clear with me on what was going on throughout everything. Their technology is top notch because I didn't have to do the dreaded "eye blowing" machine method that I kept hearing about. She explained why she was doing certain things and made me understand exactly what was going on with my eyeballs. After the exam, I was given a very good tour of ALL the glasses they had. I was able to select a great first pair of glasses and I never felt rushed or pushed to make a decision. According to my friends' experiences, my glasses and exam were given at a very reasonable rate. Also, they said it would be about 7-10 business days whereas my friends said it took them 3 weeks to get their glasses! Have I been spoiled or are all optometrists like this?? Easy breezy! read more

I have to admit I came upon this optimetry office because they're right next to honey boba. When I called they had an appointment available the same day which is very convenient. I actually didn't see Dr. Tsai but Dr. Chen who was covering for her. I never got such a thorough check-up! He took his time ask the questions and made me feel like he really cares about my eye health. The rest of the staff is super friendly. There are 2 women that work out front and help with fitting and such. They are the nicest people! I had to change my appointment, re-order my trial pair after I lost one down my sink 2 days after I got them, and rush a contact lense order and they were so patient and helpful. I don't know how Dr. Tsai is but if her staff is a reflection of her, I'd definitely keep coming back. read more

Wow, Yelp was right! This is a GREAT place to get your eyes in shape! The Dr was very helpful in explaining all that was wrong (and right!) with my vision. I was a walk in at 9am and was taken right away, treated with respect and not "sold" anything. I don't like being "sold a bill of goods" when I go in for a service, and there was no pressure to buy anything! Equipment is state of the art - very high tech (no blowing air into these eyes!) clean and sanitary. A very friendly staff too! This place was awesome! I just switched jobs and my old optometrist didn't accept my new insurance. I was pretty bummed, but then I found Premier Vision Optometry. Blessing in disguise! I love this place. Dr. Tsai was so great. Her bedside manner is like nothing I've experienced before. She explains everything so clearly. I have a very high prescription and the health of my eyes always worry me. She was calm, patient, asked my questions, and actually pushed me to read the eye chart instead of upping my prescription for no reason. I completely recommend her. And her staff is great too. And her equipment is great. You should take advantage of the photo of your eye. When it came to picking out new contacts because my old ones bothered me, she let me try on a few different pairs until we found the right ones. I lost one of my contacts down the drain yesterday so I yelped for an optometrist in the neighborhood that I just moved to since I didn't want to make the drive to my old place. The fifteen 5-star reviews made me excited to try this place. My own experience drove me to write my first yelp review ever, though I've had an account for awhile. I made an appointment for 2 pm and got there at 2 pm. Receptionist seemed nice, the place was clean, etc. I filled out the paperwork in about ten minutes and sat and waited. And waited. About 40 minutes later (2:40), the receptionist starts talking to me about what my benefits do and do not cover. She informs me of an extra exam fee for hard contact lens that would be around $150. I've had this exam done multiple times before and at multiple different locations and I've NEVER had to pay for this exam. The only payments I remember ever making are because my contacts cost above what my insurance covers. So they inform me about 45 minutes after my appointment time that what I was expecting would be a little over $100 in costs would actually be more than double that just for the exam fees, NOT including the overage costs on the actual contacts. They suggest going through with the free comprehensive eye exam (not the additional exam) and getting my medical files faxed in from my old optometrist. I reluctantly agreed to a consent form to send my files over, but, at this point, I had already waited an hour after my appointment time. There was no guarantee that my old optometrist would send over the records and I really didn't want to pay $150 for an exam that I know I've gotten free in the past. (My benefits have not changed.) So I ended up walking out after waiting an entire hour for nothing, which is not easy when you're 9 months pregnant and going through early labor. On the way home, I stopped by another optometrist (another 4.5 star yelp place) a block away and asked them about the related fees and costs and included exams, and, wouldn't you know, I would not be charged for that exam that PVO was charging me $150 for. I have an appointment with them tomorrow morning so hopefully that goes better. This place seems nice, it's clean, and the receptionist and doctor seem nice enough, but I still can't understand why they would charge so much more than multiple other places. "Nice" is not worth $150 to me, not in this economy. read more

This is a departure from the majority of my reviews. I don't give 5 stars very often, but in the case od Premier Vision and Dr. Tsai, I wish I could give it more because they deserve it! This place rocks. I don't have medical right now and I recently had a "red-eye" situation when my eye flared up. I have intermediate uveitis. Dr. Tsai took me the same day I called in and really worked with me to help me out. It's made all the difference. She's been seeing me almost two months to monitor my condition and I couldn't be more grateful for her attentiveness and her care. She truly is a awesome and a total sweetheart who'll whoop on you if you don't do as she prescribes! =) I'm going back next week for a new prescription for my glasses, too. Let me preface this review by saying that I have not been to an optometrist in 20 years or so because as a kid, I was traumatized by the glaucoma test where they blasted a puff of air into my eyes. I vowed never to go to an optometrist ever again. Over the past year or so, I've been noticing that my eyes become dry and sore by the end of the day from staring at the computer screen. I decided to get my eyes checked. After asking around and doing some research, I decided to make my appointment with Premier Vision. I woke up Saturday morning feeling nervous for my appointment, but my nerves went away as soon as I walked into the office. First, this place does NOT smell like a doctor's office, which was really comforting. Second, it's spacious, sparking clean, modern, and felt comfortable. The receptionists were warm and friendly, and the paperwork didn't take too long to fill out. While a technician did some initial examining of my eyes using some fancy equipment, the bulk of my appointment was spent with Dr. Tsai. Something about her set my mind at ease. I think it was the way she was explaining everything she was doing every step of the way and walking me through the kinds of things she generally looks for when examining a patient's eyes. I think the hugest thing for me and what I really appreciated was that she employs positive reinforcement, which works really well for latrophobes like me. For example, while she was looking at the images taken of my eyes, she was pointing out why my eyes were normal and healthy looking and she even used the term "beautiful" to describe the veins! It made me feel reassured. At the end of the exam came the glaucoma testing. She knew about my traumatic experience and reassured me that her office does not utilize the air puff test. Apparently, that type of testing can be done by technicians, which is why a lot of offices use it. Dr. Tsai employs a different type of testing where only optometrists can do it. It was totally painless. Even though I haven't been to an optometrist in 20 years, I could still tell that this office has invested in state of the art technology. I asked about a dozen questions and she answered them happily, never once looking at her watch or the clock. I don't have vision insurance, so I had to pay out of pocket, but I was pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the fee was. I can now say that Dr. Tsai single-handledly changed how I feel about going to optometrists. Although her office is a little out of the way for me, I will definitely be coming back her for my annual eye exams. read more

This clinic is is a wholesome unit. They don't try to rush or pressure you. Instead, they take the time needed to ensure your needs are taken care of. My time and money was taken into account during the whole visit, and that was what was most memorable here. During my vision test, the doctor was not afraid to explain his worries and was not in a rush to see the next patient. Been coming here for three years now and every time I come, the staff and optometrist surpass my expectations. I had an appointment from the previous year (similar to what you do at dentist offices where you write your name a reminder postcard) Got the email and then a reminder phone call. I had scheduled it for 2pm and had to reschedule for work but luckily they said they closed at 7pm and there was an opening at 5pm. Arrived and had a bit of trouble finding parking. A small lot and with Honey Boba and El Pollo Loco in the same plaza, parking is a bit limited. Found a spot though and walked in. Rosie was at the front desk and she asked me to update my information. After that was done, I walked right into the exam area where Rosie tested a few of the exams and then after that was done, went into the room where Dr. Yang completed the usual eye exam. Both were extremely personable and approachable. Felt like home talking to them! After a quick and efficient eye exam, Dr. Yang suggested I dilate my eyes to get a better examination. While I was waiting, I took a look at the glasses and sunglasses. A pretty wide selection and they told me that they have a wide selection that is completely covered by insurance as well. After getting my eyes checked one last time after they were fully dilated, I said my good byes and left. I would definitely recommend this place for your eye exam. My insurance is accepted here and they probably accept most others. The people are personable, the location is easy, parking can be troublesome but not horrible. All in all, it's the people that make this place so great. Professional, competent, and friendly. What else can you ask for? read more

I just had my yearly exam with Dr. Tsai and her crew and I had to give them another glowing review. They are all so professional yet so warm and personal at the same time. And they have always been COMPLETELY HONEST about all costs associated with y exam and contacts. They call you to remind you of appointments, that your contacts are ready, etc and are so completely accommodating to any changes you need to make. Dr. Tsai has all the latest equipment and was able to verify that I was sleeping with my eyes not completely closed (I knew it!), which was accounting for my dry eyes. So of course she gave me eye drop samples. They were also having a special on full eye photos (can't remember the actual name), so I decided to get that under the good doc's recommendation. Aah what can I say.... Another great experience at Premier. Aside from having quality (my basis of professionalism, being informative and attentive), I have always felt welcomed here. On this visit, I arrived on time and was sent in within 5 minutes or so. Met with Dr. Oh. Very straightforward and to the point. Not pushy, very thorough, and welcomed any questions. What has me coming back here though...are the two that hold down the fort day in and day out...Rosie and Christa! Recently moved to Arcadia and decided that, after wearing my last pair of biweekly contacts for over three months, I'd better get an eye exam and renew my prescription. Premier Vision Optometry was the closest option and seemed to have great reviews, so I decided to check them out. I was not disappointed. The receptionist was very friendly and it was easy to make an appointment. Upon arrival, the first thing I noticed was how clean and comfortable the waiting area was. As for the eye exam, I really felt like Dr. Oh took the time to learn about my history and explained every step of the exam process. She even helped me switch to a more comfortable lens that better suited my lifestyle (went from Acuvue Oasys to Acuvue Vita). I had such a great experiance here! Dr. Tsai was very informative and great at describing everything about your eye. Theres so many things I didnt know about the eye or understand. But instead of just doing things and not explaining why, she went into detail about why they dilate your eye and take pictures and made it interesting to understand. Not only was she informative but she was super sweet and kind and spent most of the time with me to make sure I was comfortable. She is amazing at what she does. I have always had problems with my contacts and eyes since I have a astigmatism. My eyes would always dry out at the end of the night and it would blur my vision. My previous optometrist never fixed the issue, but instead gave me a bunch of useless eye drops. However, since coming here my eye has felt so much better! The staff is attentive, friendly, and extremely capable. They helped me pick out the right glasses and the right contacts that fit. They have top of the line equipment and their office is super clean as well. Pricing is affordable and no hidden fees. Dr. Yang is probably the most gentle and knowledgeable optometrist I've ever been to. She genuinely cared about the problems with my dry eyes and astigmatism and took her time to ask the right questions and to explain everything. Safe to say - she diagnosed the problem. My vision is better and it feels amazing at night now! I highly recommend Dr. Yang to anyone that cares about their eyes. read more

She is very kind and thorough with her examination .Everyone at the office were very friendly , professional and very knowledgeable. I was promptly attended to at time I arrived. Terrific Doctor! I just recently visited a new office in Arcadia. It is behind Arcadia High and in the same plaza as El Pollo Loco. Dr Tsai had state of the art technology. She was able to take a picture of my eye to evaluate certain types of eye diseases. It was really cool. I have never seen a closeup picture of my eye. Overall, I was highly impressed the the service and selection at this new office. Typically, I go the Costco to get my exam and glasses where it feels like a drive-thur for the exam. This is in contrast to Dr. Tsai's office where she spends the time to go over the exam and to answer any questions that I may have. As for the staff, they were great in helping select a smart looking Hugo Boss frame from a wide selection of name brand frames. I highly recommend Dr Tsai and her staff. read more

My wife and I both got exams from Dr. Tsai and left very impressed. The office itself is conveniently located with plenty of parking, and everything inside looks brand new (because it is). My previous optometrist was apparently pretty old-school because I hardly recognized the equipment Dr. Tsai was using: no paper eye charts here. Despite all the high-tech equipment and new (to me) procedures, she clearly explained everything she was doing and what it meant. I ended up knowing a lot more about my eyeballs than before I went in. Once the exam was over (and having found out my previous prescription wasn't strong enough) I decided to get new glasses. Premier has a substantial selection of frames... which for someone who doesn't do a lot of "personal decoration" was kind of intimidating. Luckily, the staff at Premier Vision and Dr. Tsai herself were very helpful when it came to selecting a nice style that had the proper fit (btw, since many of their clients are asian, they have a selection of frames that fit asian facial structures better - seriously, it makes a big difference). They then talked me through the different lens options, keeping in mind what my insurance would cover, and breaking everything down so that I was entirely comfortable with the frames and lenses I purchased. As for my new frames: they're much more stylish than I probably would have picked out myself, and since I've received several compliments on them I guess I should probably seek out professional help more often. Overall, both my wife and I were extremely happy with our visit and would highly recommend Dr. Tsai and her staff at Premier Vision Optometry to anyone. read more
