I was four months pregnant and desperately seeking a good massage because those wonderful sciatica and lower back pains, oh, the joy. I spoke to Ana on the phone to set up an appointment and she was very informative on pricing, time and her method of prenatal massages. This was my first baby/pregnancy and I had no idea how prenatal massages work. She walked me through the massage and made me feel very comfortable. She also has all the right tools so our bellies won't be an issue during the massage. What I love the most is that she incorporates meditation methods, safe yoga positions to rotate, essentials oils, warm towels and relaxing music. She's very knowledgeable and meticulous in her work and focuses on pregnant women only. She has all the essential equipment so that the woman can be face down, which is key to being able to apply the necessary pressure for a back massage, without possibly harming the baby. Any of the physical kinks that come with carrying a womb alien, from sciatica to swollen ankles, she can help alleviate or even make disappear. By the end of the hour, I felt like a mass of Play-doh, flexible and oh so relaxed. Okay where do I start?! Anna is amazing at what she does! She is extremely knowledgeable and knows exactly how to treat her clients. I found her on yelp and I'm so happy I did! Not only is she local is she is very affordable! She use to work out of Fair Oaks women's health and recently decided to work out of her home. She has a very clean and professional set up and is very tranquil. Having worked at Fair Oaks Womens health she has her own approach on top of her training on how to treat each client based on their needs. At this point in my pregnancy I am suffering from round ligament pain, and sciatica pain on my right side. Not only did she inform me on how to stretch at home (incorporating lots of yoga poses/stretches) we set up a maintenance plan for my body up until I have the baby ultimately relieving me from all the pain! I found Anna on yelp last year when I was pregnant. I saw her through out my whole entire pregnancy. SHE IS THE BEST BEST BEST. She was able to work on my sciatic nerve really well till the pain vanished. She has a special pillow for your belly so you are actually able to lay on your belly. I saw her every 2 weeks and it was such a great time for me to relax and just enjoy the time there. I am still seeing her now after the baby and i recently got a massage with the hot stones. I started having serious Braxton Hicks starting at 23 weeks, frequently enough that I went home from work early multiple times. I had a very stressful job, was on my feet all day and worked with extremely violent children at the time. I was also carrying very low from early on with my sweet boy's head down from 28 weeks. Needless to say, I was certain my baby would be here early. I found Anna at about 30 weeks, I think. Right after I had my first massage with her, my body relaxed and my BH stopped. I knew then I would make it full-term. Anna has healing hands, a healing spirit, and compassionate heart. Whether I wanted to ramble on or lay quiet, she was happy to go with my flow. She does face-down prenatal massages using support pillows. She works with very fast and firm hands. Her work is brisk and thorough. She creates a completing relaxing experience at the same time. I thought the Buddha fountain and music selection were perfect compliments to the hands-on part of the massage. Anna excels at her craft. As I expected, my baby came three weeks before expected, but he made it four days past full-term! I am certain that without Anna's massage, he would have been here much earlier than that. In the end, Anna got my body to such a good place that I was 90% effaced, 4 centimeters dilated, and -1, but had no idea I was in labor. In fact, I ended up going all the way through without feeling any pain at all. (caveat: I got an epidural right before the Dr. broke my water - I was at 7 centimeters, +2 and 100% effaced by then anyway still will no pain, so I figured why start feeling pain now.) I did not have services with her but am just reviewing on her customer service during my inquiry call. I am 24 weeks pregnant, work in the medical field, am very weary about people touching my body when it comes to my pregnancy and my baby. I do a lot of research before committing to any doctors or therapists. During our call I learned that she works from home so I asked her if she was properly insured and licensed. Her response was yes but said my question made her very leary after hearing it because I might just be looking to book an appointment and have an accident during her services. I immediately wanted to end the conversation because it was such an insult to outright insinuate a potential client might just be looking to sue you - especially directly to the potential clients. That is not how you talk to potential customers especially if you work from home. Having liability insurance serves to make customers feel more at ease knowing that this business has thought of everything to keep their customers safe. I've been meaning to write this review about the massage therapist, Anna Perez. But a part of me didn't want to share my little secret to the YELP world since she is the best massage therapist I've found in my area. I discovered Anna in the beginning of the 2nd trimester of my pregnancy because I had a LOT of back pains, carpal tunnel issues, and shoulder aches. Her prenatal massages was one of the BEST parts of my pregnancy ... I looked forward to my session with her every week. Unlike the other prenatal massage places, she has an orthopedic pillow which allowed me to lie face down throughout my pregnancy (up until I was 36 weeks pregnant!) AND the bed is a hospital bed which allows her to keep me on an incline when it comes time to lie face up (since pregnant women are not supposed to lie flat at 180 degrees). This made a HUGE difference in the efficacy of her massages. She is FANTASTIC for prenatal massages. She is also not afraid to customize the massage to your problem areas (which she sometimes diagnoses based on touch; before you even realize you had an issue there) -- and she goes the distance to make the massage experience as amazing as possible (hot towels, heated pillows, aromatherapy, soft relaxing music, dim lighting, bottled water or TAZO tea after). She is absolutely professional, sweet and really talented at what she does. The only drawback is that she is by appointment only -- so I don't get to see her often enough. Her prices are reasonable especially if you buy a massage package. I LOVE HER. I can guarantee that you will too. read more

I had a horrible experience today. In all my life I had never been stood up until today. Now let's keep in mind, I'm 6 months pregnant and I'm very emotional and in physical pain. This is my 3rd child so things are a bit crazy for me. About a week ago I decided to look for a place to go for a pregnancy massage. I'm all about supporting my local businesses so I Yelped. All the reviews were great for Anna Perez so I decide to give her a call. I left a message and no call back for several days. She finally returned my call to which she said she was pretty busy but gave me several options. She said it's $65 for one hour and she accepts cash or check. That sounded great so I decided to book for Wednesday at 3pm. Now as I mentioned before, I have two other kids. I had to arrange for someone to get my son from school and watch my 4 year old. I planned my whole entire day around it because I just needed relief. The day before she sent me a confirmation text which I responded to. The day of, I show up 10 minutes prior as requested by Anna. I drove about 20 minutes to her house. I ring the door bell and nothing. I wait and wait and nothing. I call her, no answer. I texted, "I'm outside and no one is coming to the door." I text again. Nothing. I text again, "not sure what happened but I'll wait 5 more minutes. I'm pretty sure my appointment was at 3pm." Nothing... I walked to my car and drive away. To be honest with you all I cried a bit. I finally got some time to myself for some pampering and this happens. I felt totally bummed. Fifteen minutes later I get a call from her. I wanted her to say turn around come back, so sorry. However, she proceeded to say she was sorry and that she lost track of time. That she didn't hear the door bell and that she was on a very important call. That her son is off to college in another state and that he is having trouble with his scholarship. I sympathize, I have kids but a text to cancel would have been ok with me. She kept going... She said that she was not even ready anyway and that she could see me tomorrow. I was in shock. I said I couldn't that I had arranged the whole day just for this. She had the nerve to tell me "oh I thought you were just free and that you could come at anytime." So I said no it was also a long drive because of traffic. She says, "so what are you saying? I cannot proceed today. I have other appointments I cannot move." At that point I said I was canceling my appointment and if I had time I'd call her back. We all have things going on in our lives but if you are running a business be respectful to clients. Offer a discount to reschedule our give a sincere apology. It just seemed like I was just another pregnant lady she didn't care about. On second thought, I'm glad she didn't massage me. Anna was one of the best recommendations that I ever received. I started going to her during my 2nd trimester. I was getting sciatic pain during my pregnancy and after going to her it made it so much more manageable/bearable right after the first visit. I went every 2-3 weeks which helped make me feel so much better during my pregnancy. Not to mention, she's one of the only massage therapists that do pregnancy massages on your belly with using this special pillow. Pregnant ladies know how awesome that is! I booked my 1st massage when I was 6 months pregnant and was hooked when I met Anna and experienced one of her prenatal massages. You can also lay tummy down because she has a special pillow that supports you and your baby bump. And it is very safe. I continued to have massages up until my due date. This is a review for Anna Perez, the best massage therapist in town! I had been searching for the right therapist who was knowledgeable in providing service for pregnant women for a while. My coworker who was pregnant at the time referred me to Anna. I started to going to Anna since the third trimester of my pregnancy. I recall at my 1st visit, I had every pregnancy-related ache & pain and after an hour of amazing work by Anna I felt relaxed and tension-free. I was so happy that I immediately bought a 5 session package. For pregnant women, Anna provides a special pillow that supports our giant belly and chest so you can lay face down and enjoy the massage comfortably. She is attentive to details and really takes her time to work on the problem areas you may have. She also taught me how to lie correctly when facing down on the massage table. I had not experienced that type of attention and knowledge from any other spa therapist. Her price is also reasonable. You get a better deal when you buy a package. Unlike other spa/massage place, Anna gives you a full 60 minutes of quality massage. Anna is extremely professional. For every appointment, Anna will call me one day before the actual appointment day to confirm the service. Her office is next to the Huntington Memorial Hospital and she shared the office spaces with several obgyn. You do not need to see the obgyn from the same office in order to see Anna. (My obgyn is Dr. Cindy Chou and I delivered my baby at the Methodist Hospital). I am extremely thankful for Anna's exceptional service. Now, with a toddler and a newborn, I find myself exhausted. Best massage ever! I wish I knew about her before. I have 2 kids and I'm now 26 weeks pregnant. Before going to Anna, I was experiencing insomnia, lower back pain, headaches, and congestion...I was super exhausted! I was a walking cranky wobbling zombie. I tried other massages, but I didn't benefit from them because they couldn't work on my back and shoulder where I really needed it. I usually practice yoga, but I didn't have the energy to get myself on the mat. After the first session, I felt like a completely new person. All my ailments were gone. Once I got home (around 2:30pm), I finally knocked out. If I didn't have to pick up the kids from school, I could have slept through the night. I'm currently 28 weeks pregnant with my second child and have been seeing anna since probably around week 12. I initially started going because I had non pregnancy related pain but continued going because she is just so great. I told myself in the beginning that this would be a once a month treat for me throughout this pregnancy. On my first visit she let me know she prefers to work on her pregnant clients every two weeks because any longer than that the ailments come back (sciatica, etc.) and she's constantly trying to fix these problems where as every two weeks it's more about maintenance and the ailments never completely come back at all. I was skeptical (scratch that...I thought she was full of it) until recently. I had kept up with all of my every two weeks appointments until my last one. I had an emergency come up and she actually had to take a couple weeks off post medical procedure. So I said, "no big deal, I'll just wait for my next appt in two weeks". Keep in mind that = one whole month between appts. Oh my goodness I felt like I was falling apart. Before that I kept telling everyone how great this pregnancy was going. I felt so light on my feet. I was going on walks. I felt great. I even was still able to wear heels to work! About 3-4 days after my missed appt, everything started to go down hill. My sciatica was back, my body felt heavier, I was more tired all the time, I began to have a pregnancy waddle. Even people at work were telling me "oh your finally starting to feel that baby huh?" And at first I was like "ya, it's just because I'm farther along". But then I realized, no, it's the missed appointment! I went to my next appt yesterday and I once again feel like a million bucks! She is a miracle worker! Take my advice and go the every two weeks like she suggests! It's not bs! Even my husband told me when I got home that it's such a difference and I should try to go every week from now till the end of this pregnancy. I first began going to Anna for massage when I was pregnant with my second daughter. She has a special pillow for pregnant ladies to lay face down, and that felt amazing, not to mention her technique left me feeling so much more relaxed and comfortable. Anna goes above and beyond to make sure her clients are comfortable and receive individualized care. She encouraged me throughout each massage to relax and to give feedback on if she could make the experience more relaxing for me. She is so caring like that. Also, I prefer silence during massages. Ever since I started seeing her (around week 18 of my pregnancy), I felt better. I had specific pregnancy related concerns (swollen ankles and hands) and some ongoing anxiety issues that existed pre-pregnancy. Anna is very careful and thoughtful in listening to your needs and worries, and she addresses them thoroughly through her treatment. The massage room and table that Anna uses are very comfortable and relaxing. She uses a variety of pillows to accommodate the changing pregnant body, so that the massage position is always very comfortable. She takes time to adjust the table and pillows so that the position is just right for you. She also has a great manner of making the clients feel comfortable, safe, and healthy.
