So i usually leave a review if ive had a great or horrific experience at a business... I will just be honest about my experience... So i came by today 8/16/24 for my first time & i was so disappointed with the service . Ive been looking foward to a massage for the longest and as i was getting my massage done by a lady ( didnt get her name ) . She covered my eyes with a small towel and said to sleep . As i tired to sleep and relax i felt as she was massaging she would stop al of sudden ( long period of time ) and not massage . She did that couple times which i found it odd . I removed my towel and peaked and noticed she was knocked out . Standing and head tilted. She did this several timess throughout the 60mins . I didnt say anything because im like okay she may had a long day and is exhausted .however, it took away from my experience and relaxation... im not aure if she's certified but i didnt feel like it was a good massage at all . Stopped in here last night on impulse, as I was near the area. Glad I did! It was completely empty on a Tuesday night and I got the $30 combo body/foot massage that lasted 70 minutes! You read correctly, such a great deal! Helen was my masseuse and she was great- strong arms and fingers, and a petite body that worked wonders when she leaned her elbows into my back. Because I was the only one there, it was quiet and the place smelled nice, with clean, hot towels. You get the classic hot bucket of water for your feet to start, then she commenced with the head/scalp massage, followed by a neck and shoulders portion. She'll dry and massage each foot for a long time, then tell you to flip over. I come prepared wearing a tank top, because the lady will close the curtains for privacy and tell you to lie face down w/ your shirt off. She'll ask to unhook your bra, and then you get a good back massage w/ oil. I was surprised with the hot stones! I don't remember those last time! I don't know how Helen could hold them for so long with her bare hands, because they are so hot! Felt good though, you could tell she's been doing this a long time because her hands are strong and her fingers are calloused. But they feel surprisingly good on your toes during the foot massage portion. Great music, in my opinion: Kenny G playing well known hits the entire 70 minutes! Tried this place based on the great Yelp reviews, but honestly, will likely not be back. For $20, my body was roughly massaged, when it was really my feet that were in need. The $20 foot massage is moreso a 15 minute foot massage, with a 45 minute head/shoulder/arm/back massage. I think I just had a really rough masseuse, hence my review. I felt a little bad telling him to soften up since he appeared to think he was doing a good job. Another con: The recliner chairs are not as comfortable as other places I've been to... it neglects to comfort the area in your lower back. Maybe they can add a soft pillow to combat this? After my foot massage, he wiped the oil off my feet so hard, my whole body was shaking up and down. It pretty much woke me up from any type of relaxation I had been feeling. And when he put the oil on, it was like he was slathering oil on a piece of buffalo meat...not relaxing at all. I think I'll just stick with TK Therapy, down the street. Not impressed by this Massage place. Came here recently and left more stressed than when I came in. NOT GOOD! We were initially going to go to our usual "go-to" spot but they were busy so we came here as a back-up around 10 PM. Bad mistake! So...WHY you might ask? Here are the reasons: 1) Very loud! No relaxation whatsoever. I thought it was a "spa?" what happened to the "spa" aspect of it? The"check in" counter was literally in the same room as all the beds. (You're literally out in the open with a whole bunch of people). No privacy at all. Doors were banging, workers and clients were chatting, owner talked extremely loud on her phone, children were running around, and this was at 10:30 PM at night! 2) The masseuses/massueurs are NOT licensed. My masseuse clearly didn't know what she was doing. My least favorite part was when she was massaging my neck. I literally received MORE knots AFTER she touched my neck. Also, when she turned me over for the "back massage" she was just rubbing me softly on the top (like a child petting a dog) and when she got to the middle part of my back, she pushed onto it REALLY hard, hurting my bones. Even the day after, I was STILL sore! 3) Bad smell in their products and lots of cigarette smoking inside and outside of their store. In the beginning of the massage, they put lotion on your face and massage your head. The head massage was comfortable but after they touch your head, they use lotion to massage your face. Her hands smelled like the mixture of rotten eggs and MSG! It was DISGUSTING! What product was she using? I broke out mad!!!!! Also they go work on your foot with the same hands and product. Makes me wonder, do they wash their hands in between clients? Does that mean they go from one's head, to face, to feet, and rinse and repeat? CAUSE THATS GROSS!!!!!!! Also the workers were smoking and walking in and out of the store so I could smell cigarettes very pungently. 4) Lastly what was the last straw for me was when the masseuse had told the owner that we "didn't give enough" tip to her and demanded MORE! How classless was this? Rule of thumb in America is, if you didn't do a good job, you DON'T deserve a lot of tip. It is NOT my responsiblity to ensure that you receive "enough" tip. I HAD tipped you, but I didn't believe you deserved a lot. You get what you WORK for...that's just how we do it here in America! Do not EVER demand or expect/assume you're that good for more tip! There is simply NO place cheaper for the quality, hands down. How cheap is it? We drove all the way from San Francisco to Monterey Park in one day on our way to the desert and went out of our way a little bit, to work in a massage on a Saturday night. I've never seen that anywhere else, and I've been to Monterey Park twice in the last 13 months, and Atlantic Spa has had the same price on this special and have been packing them in. I really like a hard massage and appreciate the many male masseurs they have working in here that can get the job done, being that I am not a petite woman. I have had at least 4 massages now at Atlantic and 3 of the 4 were excellent, the last one I believe last week I got the newbie, but it was still good for the price. The reflexology wasn't good, but the massage was. If you are American born and you have issues with any of the following then this isn't the place for you: 1. No or limited English -- I could care less, but other people seem to get rude about it and I'm offended listening to some of American speak to some of the employees in here. 2. Sniffles! I've noticed the new courtesy the massuers/massueses are wearings masks now, but it's annoying listening to their constant sniffling. I want to hand them all a wad of Kleenex and ask them to all go blow. 3. Stickler for opening/closing times. Catch as catch can. They may be open when they say, they might not. When I occasionally come home on the weekends from college, I have to have my 1 hour of ultimate relaxation with my favorite masseuse, Perry. I personally like this masseuse because he tends to massage more firmly. However, if you prefer a softer massage, there are plenty of other masseuses that will accommodate to your liking. Instead the only person that was available was this young, tall guy. He's probably the son of the owners, but once my straight, immature self got over the awkward fact that a guy my age was going to touch my body, it turned out to be a good massage. I came here with a friend one night before closing -- around 9:30pm. We waited about 5 minutes and they had two chairs ready for us. I was a little concerned about getting the full-on $25 massage because I happened to be 26 weeks pregnant at the time, but the lady at the front desk assured me it wouldn't be a problem. I had Vincent (who has been mentioned in 2 other reviews here) and I have to agree that he was awesome! He had me sitting at a slight recline the whole time, and was kind enough to ask me throughout the massage if I had any pain or if my back was sore at all. The pressure was consistent throughout, and he avoided the areas on the foot that are known to cause pre-term labor. He did a great job on my face with the pressure points -- and during the massage I was thinking "WHY DOES THAT FEEL SO GOOD?" specifically when he did the cheek and eye points. And I don't know how he was able to massage under my shoulder blades when i was sitting in the chair, but he managed! I'm thankful I wasn't flipped over or subjected to any crazy positions, so I have to say this was one of the best Asian massages I've gotten ... Vincent truly knows what he's doing and was sensitive to my condition. The owner/ the person i talked to was superrrr rude!! Told me exactly this with a Chinese accent and broken english that i can hardly understand!- "you are not allowed to ask questions on the phone! If you want answers then you have to come in person and look at the menu yourself. I am very busy and i have no time to answer your questions!" And then hung up the phone on me very rudely before i can even talk! U already lost a customer u haven't even gained yet! this isn't a whole day spa, its an in and out foot massage kinda place. The massage was great!! the lady really took her time and it felt like she totally cared and had a routine down. Started by soaking feet and a head massage. Then they do hand and arm massage while they take your feet out and wrap them in a towel. Then it moves onto the feet and calves. Very nice. Lastly you turn over on your tummy and put your face through a hidden hole in the back of the lounge chair, they line it was a paper so your face isn't touching where everyone else's face was. When on your tummy they massage your back and a little of your thighs and butt. They put a jasmine rice bag over your eyes so its nice and dark, the ONLY problem i had was the phone kept ringing and they would talk on the phone for a minute here and there. Its a really small place i think maybe 5-6 chairs max. The prices recently went up so a 60 minute foot massage is $22. A deluxe 75 minute foot massage is $32. This is significantly more expensive then other foot massage places but bc i live really close to this one and when i went there the for the first time she really treated me nice i am now going to continue to go here. Whatever you do, don't get the owner at the front desk to give you your massage... I booked my appt for two a week in advance....when we got there they were running 15 minutes late. No problem. My friend got an excellent massage from one of her guys. The owner left me after rubbing my head for 5 minutes... and went to answer the phone! She came back to tell me her employee was having trouble coming in. I said fine, but please don't leave the massage again, it's very distracting. Well she left me several times to get towels, get things organized and about 40 minutes into the 70 min massage, tells me she needs to go to the bank - and some guy that just arrived would take over!
