I was in treatment at "P" House for four months for issues with relationship, intimacy and sexual problems. It is in fact a very community-based facility. That means living in a community with other men from all different walks of life, geographic areas, age differences, gender and/or sexual preferences. In reminds me somewhat of a military organization, in that people from all walks of life, economic positions, careers, etc. live together. This is in fact part of the treatment in learning how to become tolerant, share community responsibilities, self-govern (to a limited extent), and become a contributing member of a community. For some it is difficult, in that they have never had the experience or requirements to do so. It's about growth on an individual basis, in relational and interpersonal skills, in self-confidence, reliance on others, and examining the basis of your specific issue. Whether it's a substance or process addiction, there are many similar foundational actions, behaviors, traumas that contribute to our (clients) issues and helps build a bond between us (clients). One of the strengths of the organization is that nearly everyone of the staff, both support and therapists have been clients at Prescott House and are in recovery themselves. This gives them incredible "street creds", as they have been on the clients end and understand the issues the clients are dealing with. They also know how to get a client to look at themselves, take responsibility, learn how to change behaviors, thoughts, actions, and alternatives to the substance/process of choice. They are active in also working with the family of the clients, (those left to sit in the mess we left), and provide a space for family members to share the impact on them and integration back into the family, with boundaries, relapse prevention programs, relationship building plans. They also use whole person approach with using various outside practitioners, from spiritual advisors, fitness/health growth, life coaching/yoga, outside activities, meditation and mindfulness classes. These are things that helped me while a client and after when back home repairing relationships that have caused trauma of various levels, benefits of continuing individual treatment plans and Twelve Step programs. This also includes building support networks both with other clients here at P House and back in our own community. I have built some very close relationships here that will be in my life for a very long time. If you are really ready to do something about your addiction, the impact on your life and the life of countless others and do some hard work and return to have a meaningful life, and enjoy each day as a gift, then I recommend that you give serious consideration to seeking treatment at Prescott House. I will be forever grateful for my experience at the Prescott House. I came to the Prescott House depressed, hopeless, and seriously struggling with addiction. The P-House helped me understand what was driving my behaviors and gave me the tools to live a fulfilling life in recovery. What sets the Prescott House apart from other treatment centers is: 1) The therapy. Prescott House has excellent therapists who understand that addiction is often the result of trauma and unresolved underlying issues. The P-House utilizes group and individual therapy to treat the behavior and its causes. 2) The community culture. My closest relationships today are men I met at the Prescott House. There was a culture of accountability and unity with one addict helping another addict and an environment where people wanted each other to get sober and recover. 3) The focus on recovery and life skills. The Prescott House required us to integrate into the local 12-step community and to participate in volunteer opportunities. After some time in the program, we needed to look for employment and mentor the newer members at the P-House. The Prescott House taught me how to be a man and care for myself and others. Place was fucking amazing, spent two months there in June 21, just about everybody who works there has gone through the house, they know what they're doing, like this place just runs on its own almost. You make lifelong friendships with other men, process groups every day meetings every day, 1 on 1 appointments,group activities, it's a beautiful city, we play pickle ball, go to the gym, corn hole, hiking, lots to do. Paul was my counselor, he's the best, Steve's amazing, Jim, the Mike's, Colby, awesome guys. Best part is these guys are cool and they're loving but they're no nonsense, they're very direct, they understand how manipulative addicts can be and they don't put up with anything that's going to get in their way of recovery, There's zero enabling going on, but they truly do it with love, they're firm but it comes from a good place and it's for the best, they're not afraid to call you out on your BS My only regret here is I sign up for three months and I left after two, the support of the other men was a big part as well. An amazing place, it doesn't look like much from the pictures, but the love I have for the people there and the guys I went through it with and the bonds I made., Just an amazing experience. And the one thing I love is they understand , especially with addiction, that 30 days is not nearly enough, so they have a gradual transition program, a lot of guys stay there for a year or more and slowly start to work their way back into the community, work a part-time job after a little while and you keep that connection. I did not come to P House under duress as most clients do. I had hit a bottom in my addiction 15 years prior and began working 12 step recovery. Working recovery I got positive results to the point of getting remarried to a woman I truly loved. However, my recovery was left wanting when she passed in 2015 and I started relapsing with greater frequency. So before I hit a bottom I went to P House. If you let it, P House will change your life. . . .for the better. There are many good 5 and 4 star reviews on here that are congruent with my experience at PH. So a lot has been said that I will not repeat. When coming to P House you will get a lot of group therapy, therapist one on one time once a week, and 12 step meetings. The primary goal of P house is to get the client indoctrinated into 12 step recovery which to my understanding is the most successful way to treat addiction. P House does not nor intends to "fix" clients. The brunt of the work if not all of it relies on the client. P House creates an environment that nudges if not forces the client to shed the behaviors of an addict and replace them with healthy ones. There are lots of rules. As someone who has a lot of shame based trauma this can be difficult. However these rules allowed me to work through my shame. The biggest criticism I have with P House is that these rules are enforced inconsistently. Many times a client will not find out about a rule until it is broken. One staff member will enforce a rule while another will not. Also I was here through COVID. They did have to lighten up a bit simply because we were in a much more socially restricted environment. They did have a reputation of taking a hard line approach to acceptable and unacceptable client behaviors/actions and I wish I had gotten that experience because I can see how it is helpful for initial recovery. There was more TV time and they were probably more liberal with phone usage. However phone usage for sex addicts was very restrictive (a good thing) They do treat sex addiction. Many of the clients are sex addicts and to the best of my knowledge there were no pedophiles. However as a manifestation of sex addiction I am pretty sure they would treat a person with this behavior. What will make a client stay sober after P house is working a strong recovery program which I think is the ultimate goal of P house. P house gives its clients all the knowledge and resources necessary to recover successfully. Ultimately it is up to the client to use them. It was definitely worth it. The 4 star instead of 5 star rating comes from inconsistent rule enforcement and a more permissive environment which I acknowledge may have been due to COVID. read more

The PRESCOTT house is a all male treatment facility That deals with the troubles of drugs alcohol and every other form of addiction that exists. All of the alumni are staff and have actually gone through the program themselves. This makes for a very interesting recovery experience with those mentoring you that have actually been through the same situations. I learned about Prescott House about 5 years ago when looking into treatment options for my son, who had been struggling with drug and alcohol addiction for about 10 years. My son opted against P-House at the time due to the lengthy program duration, and ended up at another treatment center in Prescott. He did get and stay sober for a good length of time, but many of his underlying issues - particularly unresolved trauma - continued to fester and he struggled to remain sober, and cycled through several periods of dangerous, life-threating relapse and recovery before landing at Prescott House about 6 months ago. He felt hopeless and angry and was very resistant to entering the program, but with help and support from the Prescott House staff we were able to convince him to enter. I remember overhearing a conversation between him and a staff member who said "Come here and let us help you put this sh*! behind you!" Not eloquent, but for someone who had lost hope, it resonated. Thus began the difficult work of recovery. I can't say enough about the program and staff at Prescott House. The staff is comprised almost entirely of former clients who have turned their lives around; not only do they "walk the walk", they are living, breathing examples of how to live a satisfying and sober life (not a perfect life or a life without problems, mind you). I can't overemphasize the importance of this unique aspect of the P-House program. Another important part of the program is the strong emphasis on evidence-based treatment modalities, including individual and group counseling, education, life skills, community engagement, work and volunteer activities. The counselors are absolutely top-notch, with decades of experience working in the field; most of them have been at P-House for many years (in some cases decades), so are very skilled at navigating the multitude of challenges that the clients bring. The final element of P-House that is so beneficial to recovery is the strong sense of community that is at the heart of everything. In particular, the all-male environment fosters strong and lasting relationships that provide the framework and support at the heart of any good therapeutic environment. Prescott House has given my son the gift (very literally) of life. He is about to celebrate his 8-month sobriety anniversary next week. Many centers will list sex addiction as something they treat, but only a small handful are truly equipped for it at the level of PH. However more clients come to PH for substance addictions. All of the staff genuinely care about helping addicts. It is clear that this place is run as a labor of love. It is run in a unique way; most of the culture, approaches, and quirky policies were developed by the seat of the pants and passed down as institutional memory. PH is a hybrid of the "Florida Model" of recovery where people spend much of their time out of the house at community 12 step meetings, with a traditional residential approach with a large amount of in house clinical therapy and support groups. The cost, starting around $10k/mo and dropping as you stay longer, is several times lower than most commercial inpatient programs, but ten times the cost of sketchy recovery houses in Prescott which call themselves recovery centers. My Blue Cross insurance covered only a small portion. I was a middle aged client at PH between 2017 and 2018. My primary addictions were sex and pot; I had done Meadows/Gentle Path (GP) Wickenburg inpatient and GP Scottsdale outpatient (IOP). As this review is written in 2020 it has been three years on this leg of my recovery journey, still in Prescott, getting ready to leave. I find myself ambivalent about how useful PH was for me. I left PH 2 years ago and surely things have evolved since the time my review is based on. PH gets most clients to stay longer than initially planned. My original staff estimate of 2-3 months turned into 7 months and 2+ months of aftercare living on site. The biggest nod to evidence based treatment at PH was their citing studies that longer treatment is better than shorter. 3-6 months is typical. Lincoln is a world class sex addiction therapist. He is both intelligent and experienced, able to think creatively and avoid cookie cutter approaches. I really valued the year or so I had with him. Doug was excellent too. The other counselors who take clients with chemical addictions were not as well educated or skilled as Lincoln and Doug; some are techs. Dayton is the benevolent owner/dictator of PH. He is sincerely caring; I have seen him help people in many ways including tuition. Every decision gets run through him, once a week, and the therapists have little to no discretion to contradict him. It is a huge bottleneck for every decision for 30+ clients to run through him so by nature the PH experience tends more toward one size fits all and chaos than any of the 4 higher end programs I had been in. This gets to perhaps the central fact of life at PH: It's intentionally uncomfortable. Dayton is an old school army-type disciplinarian, although over time he's getting more modern. Compliance trumps customization. For the twenty-something out of control entitled clients, I can see the benefits of this. But for me, a middle aged grownup with a tendency towards pleasing authorities, being small rather than extra, and shutting down rather than getting fired up, the focus on compliance over self care was burdensome. Part of this is good economics: PH spends money and time on therapy and treatment rather than creature comforts or customizing the experience. One way this compliance focus manifests is in the formula for expressing feelings. At both GP and PH you say "When you do X, I feel Y". GP continues with expressing a request, but PH is not so much about self advocacy. PH tends to see self advocacy through the lens of entitlement. At GP you are encouraged to use feeling statements with staff and the world outside, but at PH you can't use them with staff and they often caution about using them in the outside world. Clientele is surely part of this; the angsty 20 somethings sent there by their dysfunctional parents may simply not be mature enough to avoid passive-aggressively weaponizing feeling statements. If you need longer term, more intense residential sex addiction treatment than GP IOP and you are not a 1%er, PH is literally your only option and I have seen clients get a lot out of it. For other addictions, PH is probably the best center in Prescott, but you may only see staff with little formal education or training. I went to the Prescott house September 2019 and left December 2019. After a 15 year struggle with alcohol/drug addiction. I was at my rock bottom and had lost all hope. My wife called and talked to Tim, and a few weeks later I was there. This was my first time in rehab and going to the Prescott House was the best decision I could ever make to live a better life for myself and my family. I learned about my addiction and got the tools I needed to be successful in life free of drugs and alcohol. I built strong relationships with the men in the house that I will have the rest of my life. This program works if you are willing to do the work there. Go to the 12 step meetings in town. Make the sacrifices to better yourself. Show up with an open mind and be ready to look at yourself in the mirror, and make the changes that are necessary. I feel incredibly fortunate to have the early part of my recovery happen at Prescott House. It has been a while and the lessons learned there are still helping me in recovery. The staff is exceedingly knowledgeable about addiction since they have each gone through it themselves. They pulled from their own pasts to relate to what I went through while in my active addiction, and what I was dealing with during the early days of being sober. The accommodations there were very comfortable. I was quick friends with the guys who shared my suite. Good people who were dealing with their own addictions. We were always treated with respect even if we were being disrespectful (as those new to recovery can be). The patience the staff has is amazing. Simply amazing. The therapy received there is top notch. Again, since the staff has all been through addiction they can speak from experience. Most of them went through Prescott House themselves. I found that to be quite the testament to not only the efficacy of the program there, but also how the experience left a positive impression upon them. When I arrived at Prescott House in 2008 I was addicted to opiates and cocaine and was overdosing regularly. I knew I was going to die and was desperate. I had been through several other programs and thought I knew everything, so I was a particularly hard case, but the patience shown to me by the therapists and staff saved my life. I have been sober for almost 11 years now, and I never would have been able to stop abusing drugs and alcohol without P House. My 6 months there changed my life, and the subsequent years that I chose to spend living in Prescott were the best years of my life. I would send a loved one here without hesitation. I've spent the last 10 years working in drug and alcohol treatment, harm reduction, and most recently in the public health sector, I can say with confidence that there is no other treatment center or program like Prescott House. To put it bluntly, I'm almost certain Prescott House saved my stepson's life. And his mother and I weren't newcomers to the world of addiction treatment and recovery. We knew the tears and the terror like only the parents of an addict can. We'd been through the ups and downs, the before, during and after of treatment programs - and the many, many years of dreading the late night sound of a phone ringing or the message tone from a mobile phone. We'd sat through, and sincerely and earnestly participated in, countless hours of group and "parents-&-loved-ones" addiction counseling sessions. We put in our time, not just the money. We still cared, deeply, but we had deep-seated doubts - and good reasons for that skepticism. But, my wife especially, isn't the type who gives up. Tim started abusing drugs and alcohol before he was in middle school, not yet a teenager. He was and is, very smart - I'd say brilliant - and, despite his addiction, a very decent human. He was charming enough and smart enough to sweet talk almost everyone he encountered when he did get in trouble. Still, over the years there were a few run ins with the law, including arrests and jail. He decided, sincerely, that he didn't want to go back. But that's easier said than done for an addict, even a charming and bright one. He went through 28-day programs and, despite his good intentions, relapsed - sometimes soon and sometimes after a long enough period that we thought maybe his addiction was finally whipped. But his last crash, not long after another detox, and in the year after what seemed the most successful 28-day program, was the worst. We found him unconscious and not far from death. That 28-day program, at a highly-regarded and residential program in our hometown, included a sessions in which a counselor repeatedly tried to convince him and us that he needed to go into "after care" - a controlled environment that would help him through the "after glow" that addicts often experience in the first weeks and months after they get clean. She said the odds of long-term recovery improved greatly with after care, instead of just going back to the same place after a 28-day program - no matter how apparently successful. We believed her. Tim didn't, or at least was convinced he could handle it. And, so, we found him, alone and nearly dead. He detoxed, again. And this time it scared him so badly that he agreed he needed something more. We took him straight to Prescott House. His mother had done the research. We were ready when he said he wanted to try. The staff there talked to us frankly. They explained everything we asked about, and more, and didn't sugar coat anything - didn't promise miracles. It was clear Prescott Place expected him to "do the work" to change his life. It wasn't just staying at a dorm while checking off some requirements. He was going to have to learn how to live sober. Life without drugs. Life after drugs. My impression of what Prescott House does is like the difference between school and the "real world." They teach through both counseling sessions and practice - living by the rules of the program, which include going out into the world and holding down a job. It's not just theory. It's been four years. Tim's maintained employment and has worked his way up to successively more responsible positions. I attended the Prescott House for 3 months before I finally arranged my exit. They cut you off from family contact until you convince them you have been brain washed enough to not try to leave. The NUMBER ONE thing they DO NOT TELL YOU when you sign up is that 50% of the "clients" are actually PEDOPHILES. The kicker with this (other than having to listen to groups about guys raping their cousins) is the Prescott House is bordered by houses with children. I ended up with a roommate that had to be moved into my area away from the neighbors because he was constantly masturbating while watching the children through his window. Unqualified staff is an understatement. They use intimidation and threats to keep you there. Greg Fine got his start selling shoes and this, combined with going through the P House himself, made him qualified to make decisions that destroyed my life more than it had been. Luckily for the current victims he seems to have gone into marketing and sales now (according to the website) rather than continue to ruin people's lives. The self esteem workshop, once again, is a complete joke. They spend 4 hours a day trying to make you cry. If you don't, then you are punished. At the end of the self esteem workshop, while I was closing my eyes, Lincoln Sperry came up and put his lips to my ear and whispered "You deserve the gentle touch of another man." He proceeded to do this to each client. They make you sign an illegal document on entry that forces you to have an emergency contact that you can never revoke consent for them to contact. They do this so when you finally leave, they can contact your family and scare them into trying to force you back to the P House prison. They will tell you 3-6 months of treatment, but will try to keep you there until you or your family stop paying by saying you are still not ready. I've seen this go on for over 22 months. Once I was able to contact my mother after being cut off for a month, she told me she was brought to tears every week when Greg Fine would call her and tell her to forget about me and move on with her life because I was surely going to die. I could fill a book with the horror stories I have from just 3 months at the Prescott House. There are plenty of other treatment centers that you can go to for similar cost or will work with you on payments, and will NOT abuse you like the Prescott House. California and Arizona have many extended care treatment centers that provide real services, care about the clients, and cost $10,000 or less per month. Since most other programs include food, and everything but medication and a small amount of spending money, the cost is nearly identical. I ended up spending over $9,000/month at the Prescott House (not to include the $8,000 they kept for the last 5 days I was there). The Prescott House talks a good game, and will scare the families into siding with them, but it is all a game for these guys. You will need many more recovery programs just to recover from any amount of time at the P House. Please NEVER send a loved one to this facility! I graduated the Prescott House May 2015 and I graduate with my MSW in May 2018. Enough Said!!!!! I had been to over 15 therapists and psychiatrist and none of them were able to help me like the staff at the p-house. When I arrived I was angry, alone and afraid. I had many outbursts and confrontations with the staff, yet they were able to accept me and love me through my process. Being that the staff were all former clients I felt that they were attuned to all of my needs. To talk about all the house has given me in impossible. Yet I owe all that I have today to the p-house. I have serenity, peace, and happiness. Every person has had their own experience. The house is not easy. At times I thought that I couldn't do what they asked of me. The PHouse is an amazing facility which addresses men's addiction. Their comprehensive approach to the individual problem yields outstanding results. The program is not easy; a participant will be asked to examine his life, his choices and how he can change to escape his addiction. Individual and group therapy sessions are combined with an uncompromising demand for effort and compliance to guide the individual to a great respect for himself, our world and, most importantly, acceptance of where he is in life. The program honors the 12 Steps and grants participants increasing independence guiding them to "reset" their life, free of addiction and full of self-respect. A fantastic facility/program that turned my life around. It is not easy by any stretch of the imagination, but what they do there works. My response to those who previously commented negatively is "Did you graduate?" Having been through multiple programs, I can say that they do things differently and thus achieve different results.
