When the barber was complete, I wasn't sure if I was satisfied with the haircut (so it's partially on me), but I trusted the barber as a professional that I looked good (I'm a poor judge of what's fashionable). I asked the barber for some recommendations on how to style it - he had to ask another barber and received minimal advice. Upon going out, I asked for feedback from friends and was compared to both a pineapple and a mushroom. Also, upon closer examination when I got home, I noticed that some of the beard lines and the neck line were neither clean nor straight. I went back the next day to see if the hair could be rectified - but they were closed - during a day/time they were supposed to be open. I ended up paying another barber to finish the job.

I walked in and was a little worried because these guys, who were all very friendly and inviting, had different style of haircuts then I usually have but I thought I'd give them a try. The haircut turned out great, they followed my instructions but what was a HUGE bummer was that when they asked to trim my beard I didn't think they would line me up so much that half my mustache was shaved off! I walked in with a full beard equipped with a full lip stache and i walked out with the thinnest mustache I've never wanted to have. Thus, I went right home and shaved my beard and staff off for the first time in 2-3 years. I miss my beard but I know I will grow it back. But unfortunately for me, I will not be returning to this shop due to the fact they butchered my facial hair and went with a style that I obviously don't rock.

The supposed manager Mario--after all that happened--had the audacity to rudely say to me, "Why don't you come to a salon and know what you want?" I said, "I was clear from the moment I came in: a layered hair cut with a light burgundy brown color. He was beyond rude and extremely phony. I initially went in for a consult and Mary the stylist said, "it looks like you've let an over texturized cut grow out--I can fix this she says--I barely texturize and...you need better coloring--some parts of your hair are way too dark." I agreed & came back for my appt. which she said would be $60-$80. I suggested we cut my clean hair dry so she could see my own natural waves. She insisted on dying it knowing I had grey roots. She didn't listen to any suggestions so wanting burgundy brownish color never happened. My roots turned out bozo the clown orange. We had a photo of a simple long layered shag style. She insisted on a quick cut, then blew it dry straight and thick and began hacking away and cut deep into it like a paper shredder or carrot peeler. The thing is I stopped her, but by then her innocent voice was, "No worries this will be great." I went to pay and it was $118 & the manager added the tip wrong and it was $148. The stylist after 3 hours of this procedure--spoke to me at a later date and agreed everything was wrong and that she--Mary--wasn't capable of the cut. So I stupidly agreed to at least let her calm down my roots. When I went back this turned out to be a nightmare like no other. The owner told her to dye my roots a color to match the overall color of my hair. The stylist and I both said no the color you picked has red tones and will make the roots worse--let's use medium brown. That was agreed but the stylist got scared of her boss and used the reddish brown and afterwards took me out in natural daylight on the street. She said, "Plz don't go home like this--you look worse--even more like a clown--on fire--plz let me fix this." I told her I think I should leave because your co-workers are starting to look at me weird as if this is my fault. She said who cares about them--I'm fixing it. Yet in Spanish which I understand--she told them she was dying my roots brown at my request. After she put the dye on my roots and my scalp was burning as now I was in the salon for 4 more hours--her co-worker told the stylist--" plz remove the color you put on this girl's head--you picked the wrong level of brown and it will look like black." Sure enough: blackish roots all over my hair and strands--and myself checking my hair--black stain all over my nails. They had nothing in the salon to remove it. So everything I came in for was a waste of 7 hours and it will take 3 months at least to grow out a horrifying, thinned all over choppy haircut. Sure I can blow dry it and make it nice. And sure two washes and the color will blend, but the money and time wasted can not be replaced. Mary knew I wanted an easy to go look. Wash and water no fuss--which only can happen with a professional cut. So ladies--avoid this salon. Also, her co-worker looked into my eyes a few times to let me know that the woman who said she could style and color me very well--didn't have the knowledge to be good at any of this and was seriously inexperienced. I have dated photos of all of this. Careless place that should not be allowed to operate like this. Mary seemed kind, but her ignorance at her job shows her true colors--pun intended.

Asking good questions & offering options that fit with my comfort level. I couldn't have been more pleased with the results. Since that Groupon, I've been back & intend to be a regular client. As for the Groupon purchaser that was so offended at having to make appointments online or holding it with a credit card, you need to go the Super Cuts. No disrespect to the franchise or it's staff but it does have a whole different vibe than a salon. I'm sure there are very talented stylists who work there. The reason for booking online and/or putting a credit card down is not only efficient but protects the stylist from completely getting screwed. If there's no show appointments with no notice, the stylist is paying rent for an empty chair and taking space that other clients could have filled. It's simple consideration for others.
