For a buyer, they are a GREAT resource for furniture, vintage items, collectibles, etc. I've purchased some amazing things from solid wood, handmade Clore furniture, vintage cast iron (very collectible) cast iron pans to antique Persian area rugs, craft items, etc. If you know what you're looking for and are knowledgeable about the value of the items you're interested in, Dixon's is a wonderful experience! Even if you're not an expert and you bid on something that you like, you won't be disappointed. As for the people, I find them extremely helpful and easy to work with. Ed, Billy, Bruce and Ian are great!. Now that they have opened their location at Virginia Center Commons, the previews for their weekly in-house online auctions are even better. One thing that also sets Dixon's apart from some of the other auction houses is that they have staff available who will help carry and load items. For sellers, any kind of auction can be difficult emotionally. As someone who has "cleaned out" my elderly parent's home, the things that we/our parents value don't carry that same value for others. Consequently, you can't expect the "antique" desk that your mother treasured to be purchased for big $$. If it's that valuable to your family, KEEP IT! Or at the very least, establish an auction minimum for the item. That being said, I have regularly seen truly valuable antiques and fine, handcrafted furniture bring high prices at a Dixon auction. Collectors/folks who appreciate those items regularly preview their auctions so if your item is a standout , it will be noticed by the experts.

I've…read morenever been to any other bin locations so I don't really have anything to compare this to but I was able to find a few pieces of clothes that I regularly wear here so that's a plus. Prices are good of course, clothing is sold by the pound, but there are a lot of aggressive resellers that will swarm whenever new bins are brought out. Sucks for people who just want to get clothes for themselves but oh well.

I get a call back and they state the pickup day was two weeks prior however website was not updated. They inform me they don't know if they have my items that they will have to look for them. I reach back out today to follow up on my items and have to leave a message again. Wes Manger calls me back incredibly rude stating he can't drive but I can get them after the fourth. I kindly ask if I could come pickup the items where he begins to raise his voice and remind me he can't drive, asking me what world do I live in, etc. He then refused to let me get my items and said he was going to refund me. I do not recommend ANY business who berates their paying customers. Take your business elsewhere.

Nothing in the auction stated it was a 3/4 guitar. If I had known, it was 3/4 I would not have bid. The woman I talked with at the company stated I should have been at the preview. For pick up all 3 different times the Grindstaff people were RUDE, UNHELPFUL and UNPROFESSIONAL including a worker sitting on top of a piece of furniture I had purchased. Today my experience was horrible / I was kept waiting even though I was the only person picking up and made to feel like a criminal. The workers acted like the items I was asking for were not even there and insinuated I was at the wrong auction. There was no easy access with tricky steps to carry furniture and no help available / overall HORRIBLE! Don't waste your money or time or gas. I purchased a ring which looks nothing like their photo...hugely disappointing.
