Yeah, I was on the forums. I got scared. Why am I scared though? I got a better than average deal on a Model Y and learned afterwards that Tesla may have cost down on the paint to be able to get a better price point. The front end of the Model Y is like a dart board for rock chips. Heck, that front end can double as a dry erase board for my planning meetings. What is done is done. Solutions? I do a fair amount of commuting between LA and SF. My current daily driver is a Prius. The hood of my Prius shows a fair amount of paint chips from the lovely Highway 5. And I drive my cars til they get collect "social security". I want my Model Y to last at least 10 years and still maintain some semblance of looking good. Anyhow the solution is to protect the paint with PPF. Time spent included: Model Y forum time to research. More time talking to friend who are really really really into cars. Add some time on the Facebook Model Y group for more comparative pricing analysis and question time. Then back to the Model Y forums for more comparison pricing. I was a tad OCD on this. PPF is not cheap. Do it right and do it once and hope it last a long time. All my efforts pointed to Prestige Pro Care. I made an appointment and here's my experience. Jai presents well. He gives off a sense of calm, a sense of I've done this for a long time and I know what I'm doing. You want this vibe from an owner. He had some higher end vehicles in his shop and his work area was adequately full of cars. That's always a good sign. And his shop was reasonably clean. That's important to me. And there was a full crew busy working. The shop was humming along and Jai had his utility belt on and really looked the part. I got my car as promised at X time. Jai and his team did my Model Y Juniper in Xpel stealth PPF and also tinted it in Xpel ceramic tint. It took them about a week but the results were worth the wait. Jai knows Teslas well - I initially wanted the track package (had a previous SUV done with them with that package) but he explained how it would show a line on the sides as the PPF and paint aged because of the Y's body lines and that front protection would be all I needed along with mud guards. However, after I seeing a couple other Junipers they were working on getting full PPF and looking at his own truck done in Xpel Stealth, I decided to get full PPF instead.
