2014 YELP 365 CHALLENGE - 239/365 Pret A Manger IS AWESOMEEEE! My dad and I were staying at a hotel down the street, and were looking for a cheap, easy place to go to for breakfast during our 5-day stay in London. There were a ton of bakeries and cafes along Piccadilly Circus, but we decided to go to Pret A Manger since it looked pretty good. This was one of the best discoveries we found whilst in London! SO good that we went back EVERY single morning for breakfast while we were there! My dad and I had never heard of Pret A Manger before. It's pretty similar to Starbucks, except the selection of food is WAY BETTER! They had coolers and shelves all along one entire wall with different bottled juices, waters, beverages, pastries, sandwiches, soups, etc. Perfect for anybody who is on the go and wants a fresh, portable meal! We noticed a LOT of people stopped by Pret on their way to work, as many people were in business attire and looked like they wanted to get in and out as soon as possible. The Pret employees cater to their customers by working FAST! They all look like busy little worker ants trying to get everything done as quickly as possible which was great. The first time I went I ordered the pina colada smoothie which was unfortunately a major bust. Not good at all...blech. However, I started ordering the hot chocolate which was deeelicious. Better than the hot chocolate normally served at coffee shops in the US. My biggest and best discovery from Pret A Manager was their CHOCOLATE CROISSANTS! They are SO. GOOD. I normally don't like croissants in general, but there was something that I just LOVED about Pret's! I also got my dad hooked on them and he started ordering them everyday too! :P My dad's favorite item from Pret A Manger was their ham, cheese and tomato pastry. They were made fresh every morning and he LOVED them. This location was the first Pret A Manger we ever saw while in London, but we soon realized that it is a VERY popular chain in England, and saw them on almost every street corner. Even more popular than Starbucks which is saying something! If Pret existed in the US, my dad and I would probably be regulars. Amazing coffee shop with really good food! I highly recommend for anyone who wants a quick, easy, and cheap breakfast/brunch! :)

Good place to grab a quick hot and tasty breakfast. Organic coffee is a plus. Bakery is well stocked. Service is friendly and quick. This location is open before most breakfast places a good way to get a head start on your day.

Went for Afternoon Tea…read more Food - 5/5. Teas had great aroma and gentle bitterness. Earl grey had a floral scent while the English breakfast had a stronger astringent flavor. The scones were the highlight of the entire experience. Compared to the scones in America, the ones here are more savory, firmer, and way less sweet. Despite the firm crust, the crumb is very soft, leading to an excellent texture. The clotted cream had a clean richness, having none of the heavy mouthfeel you get from cream. The jam emphasized the natural sweetness of fruit with a hint of sourness. The clotted cream and jam were spread into a perfect ratio, resulting in every bite of the scone having a balance of all three. Sandwiches were simple with the manchego being my favorite. The bread's drier texture and the cheese's strong flavor paired well with the tea. The cake were soft and very sweet. By themselves, the cakes were overpoweringly sweet but with the tea, it was perfect. Service - 5/5. Very accommodating and welcoming! They had an alternate schedule that day and we arrived near their closing time, but they extended it by 30 minutes to allow us to fully enjoy our afternoon tea. We didn't utilize the entire extension out of respect for their time, but that kind of generosity really added to the experience. Value - 5/5. I'm not entirely sure why the cost of afternoon tea is so high as many locations I saw were showing prices that were £80+ . In comparison, Tea and Tattle offers a traditional set for two people at a very reasonable £48. Portions were good and looked the same if not better than those offered at way higher prices. It is worth visiting just for their scones alone! Excellent location to experience afternoon tea. Parking - N/A

My sister-in-law is an amazing planner, and since we were meeting family in London for a few days, she planned a wonderful tea for us here at Tea and Tattle. This place is an old family bookstore that was then turned into a wonderful spot for afternoon tea {with still carrying on the feel and look of a quaint book shop}. Reservations are required since it is only large enough for two, maybe three seatings at a time. Once your party is seated, you will receive your menu and decide on the Tea menu that you desire {how many Teas, Sandwiches, Cakes and Scones - with a wide variety of each}. Would you prefer a Coffee, a Smoothie or a Salad? No worries, they have those options as well. Be sure to inform your host about any allergies as they can customize your tea settings based on any restrictions. The Hubs and I decided on the Tea For One - This included a pot of Earl Grey {or your tea of choice}, a selection of five Mini Tea Sandwiches which may vary {ours included Cream Cheese, Chive and Cucumber / Mature Cheddar and Chutney / Ham, Rocket and Red Onion Marmalade / Ham with Mayo, Mustard and Tomato / Chicken with Cucumber and Lemon Mayo Chutney}, Scones topped with a Delicious, Mouth-Watering Cream and Strawberry & Raspberry Jams as well as Lemon Cake and Mini Chocolate Eclairs. Each guest will also be served a deliciously tangy glass of lemonade as a final sip for the afternoon. Every single bite and sip of tea was perfectly paired and the experience was a wonderful way to spend our last day in London with the family. I highly recommend this experience if you want to feel a little extra fancy and enjoy a spectacular afternoon tea.

Their servings are HUGE, and are so affordable too! I left wishing my mother and I had the ability to save our leftovers for later, because we hated wasting any of the delicious food that we ordered. Even before we got our food we were pretty excited. When you walk in you're greeted here with a beautiful sight: fresh sandwiches, bread, and pastries, all on display right at their main counter. Once we were seated I noticed little flower pots line the window, too. Fresh food and flowers - what more can you ask from a cafe for a first impression? We also loved the owner and his wife: they were very kind and they constantly kept us up to date on our food order, just to mention what was done and what they still needed to do or cook. They clearly work hard to provide fresh fast meals - and we learned quickly as people came in and out of the place that takeaway is available here. But we wanted to enjoy a sit down meal, and enjoy we did! I started mine with fresh squeezed juice - we're talking so fresh you'll want to add sugar to it if you're used to the juice that comes in stores. And when our English breakfasts came out? Just, wonderful. My mother and I each received SO much food. Both meals came with amazing buttered bread (like, I would have happily eaten an entire plate of bread and only bread), hash browns so fresh that they may as well have given us the original potatoes (yum), and what I can really only describe as a mountain of beans, eggs, and meat (well, on mine anyway - not so much on my mother's vegetarian breakfast order). All of it absolutely delicious, and every single bite made me smile wider and wider. Definitely walk on in if you're near this little shop. Don't be afraid to order one meal and share it if there's only two of you, either - you'll likely both leave well fed, and you can always order a little more food if you want too from that great looking counter of theirs...
