    Pastry and water for breakfast.

This Pret was very convenient to our hotel (the Holiday Inn) and the Russell Square station, so I walked there each morning to get food for my family and bring it back to the hotel. There is a wide selection of pastries, coffees, fresh juices, beverages, and more. I also had one of the salads for lunch which was excellent. The service was always quick and friendly. Wish we had Pret back in Minnesota where I live.

Enjoyed this place a lot and I mean a lot. I usually come here during the breakfast and lunch times to grab a drink or maybe a sandwich. They have so many different food options and they are easily able to take it to go and eat it on the road! It's not that expensive and honestly I think this place is a pretty good place if your in a group because everyone can just pick the things they want! I love their drink items and choices you can grab juices, coffee, teas whatever you fancy. I tried this chia pudding and i even though it's small it was a nice small snack while walking around the area. Place is super clean! But know that during the later hours this place becomes pretty sparse with the selection of food. If you want to see all the variety you should come here during the morning. If I had to compare it to something in USA it's a way better version than Panera bread!!

I absolutely love all the Pret A Manger's located around the city! I wish we had them in America. There is seriously a lack of healthy quick food in the US and Pret A Manger fills that void perfectly! The salads, all delicious. The sandwiches, light and absolutely refreshing! I seriously almost ate here every other day for an early lunch or breakfast and have never had a bad experience and absolutely loved the food. The great selection of coffee, cold/hot food and drinks is exactly what I need for a quick lunch or breakfast. My favorite is the pesto chicken with the awesome balls of cheese. It just works really well together! If I'm ever in London again, you can bet I'll be coming to Pret A Manger if I need a quick affordable meal.

You can find these gems all over London. This location is directly across from the Russell Square Station this restaurant carries great healthy selections. Hot food, cold food, coffee, fresh juices, yogurt, gluten-free items and more. Plenty of seating and excellent service. If your looking for something quick hit the frig area for goodies from baked sweet potato fries to fresh salad greens. Very clean with a warm décor. There's free wifi, an espresso bar and a wonderful view. ThInk, "British version of Panera. Enjoy, ~Christy

I can see why Travel + Leisure named Pret one of the top fast food chains in the world http://tinyurl.com/cb3s3dg

Fast food in America there's Big Macs with super sized portions of sodas and fries. Fast food in London there's Pret (French for "Ready to eat"). there's freshly made pastries, soups, salads, sandwiches (I prefer the baguette ones for £3) in a smaller more manageable portions. I'd describe Pret as a combo Pannera/Starbucks/Boulange but with way better food and free wifi. This particular Pret is roomy and casual with scattered laptop campers from the nearby college. The funky jazz and songs from Adele created a relaxing atmosphere. * Ham, bacon, and cheese croissant - £2 WOW! Excellent savoury snack! Smoked bacon lardons and a slice of cured ham, layered with Emmental cheese and a dab of rich tomato sauce. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/fx959BvpAYc4EN41NUS2Kw?select=-JEtotSGj51QqqnjVZ7-SA#-JEtotSGj51QqqnjVZ7-SA) Their croissants are top quality; light and flaky texture without being overly dense and buttery. The secret is in the butter they use, imported from France with a higher butter fat content. (closest pastries back home is from Tartine) Their cookies aren't as sweet with more texture. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/fx959BvpAYc4EN41NUS2Kw?select=-JEtotSGj51QqqnjVZ7-SA#ALgCNjBpc9Droq61BsGV9A) From a person who rather go somewhere new EVERY time, we came here a couple times because their pastries were so damm good. PLUS, you have got to love a place that donates its daily unsold food to homeless charities. That's social responsibility and I'll round my 4.5 up. I can see why Travel and Leisure magazine names Pret as one of the top Fast Food restaurants in the world. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/fx959BvpAYc4EN41NUS2Kw?select=kwOtxHjfb8SOcW1myTnsUA)

The summer before I moved to London, I met a younger relative of mine at a family wedding. He's a Londoner born and bred, and the minute he heard I was moving to the big smoke he wouldn't shut up about Pret. Except of course he didn't pronounce the 't', instead harping on about how he couldn't wait to get home for a 'Preh brownie', and that he had withdrawal symptoms from not drinking at least three 'Preh lah-tays' a day. Preh this. Preh that. How I laughed at him. Particularly so as the wedding was in Vienna, the home of swirly, creamy coffee things. Now it's three years later and I have only recently managed to wean myself off the charms of Pret. What can I say about the place? It's Veggie Sandwiches of the Week, so-gooey-they're-wrong choc croissants, avocado wraps, parsnip crisps, do-gooder image and chirpy staff have fueled my time in this town. Most Prets manage to provide almost identical products, but this Russell Square branch has been particularly consistent in its ability to produce extra-foamy lattes, while also boasting large egg chairs and sofas to enjoy them in. I know it's silly, but I also like Pret better since McDonalds renounced their 25% share in the chain.

Decent quick food. Not fancy, just sandwiches and pre-packaged items; great for a quick or after hours bite.

I am also embarrassed to like a chain, but the sandwiches are quite good--very creative as sandwiches so. The soup is also very good.

So basically the El Jefe has ruined other sandwiches for me. Thanks, Project Sandwich. Sure, I can…read morestill get a decent sandwich elsewhere, enjoy the first few bites but then I realise, oh, this isn't a delicious cuban sandwich lovingly prepared with good quality ingredients that's so huge I could never finish it all. All sandwiches should strive to this level. The first time I had an El Jefe I even saved the half I couldn't eat (I don't do leftovers) as consigning it to the bin was just too sad of a fate. The second time I had one I brought someone else along. The pork has some really interesting spicing - to the point that at first, I wasn't sure I even liked it. But yes, it's delicious. Even the ham is warmed through on the flat top before going in. It's all generously sauced before being pressed into a flat, hot, crusty delicious hunk of food. Just try it. If you don't like it, call me. I'll come have the other half!

But they all pale in comparison to the Sandwich Project and their El Jefe. It was a drizzly day when I came here on the recommendation of my wife. I dare say it was because of the iffy weather that they weren't all that busy - in fact on this particular day, none of the collection of excellent stalls at Kerb at Kings Cross were busy. Ordering is simple - they do two sandwiches, one was the El Jefe, the other was a club sandwich of some description with a fried egg. You pay, get a number and then wait. But don't go too far, because watching the detail and effort they put into the sandwiches is worth the price of admission alone. For example, with the El Jefe - they put the ham and pork on the flat top. I've only ever seen that done for a sandwich on shows like Diners, Drive Ins and Dives, and films like Chef - I've certainly never heard of it being done in a British restaurant or streetfood vendor. The best I've had before was someone fried the sandwich in butter, but the ham never touched the grill. Immediately I'm enthralled. Then they finish the up on a plancha! They had an actual plancha! Ok sure, it could have been a panini press in another life, I'm no expert, so I wouldn't know the difference by looking at it. But it did the job - it pressed it down into an edible size and toasted the bread. As for the sandwich? Sublime. I no longer know whether this or Liberty Cheesesteak's original cheesesteak is the best sandwich in London (that Cheesesteak has been my undisputed king for several years). It's a close tie, certainly. That is how good the El Jefe is. The London sandwich scene has a new challenger!

They're also really nice and polite. Over the course of several visits, I tried the sirloin special, the coronation chicken, the chicken escalope, and the chicken/bacon/sweet corn sandwiches. I also tried the scotch eggs. My favorite was the coronation chicken, which I'd never had before (I don't think we have it in the States), but everything I tried was tasty and I'd be happy to have all of them again. The sandwiches are pretty reasonably priced at under £6, which is nice for an area where it's easy to spend the same amount on a cup of coffee and a muffin. I've always been in and out of the shop in just a few minutes, even when it's busy. Their prime lunch traffic seems to come around 12:30 and later; it was pretty empty the 1 time I went at 12. I've always been able to pay with my American bank card without any issues. Definitely recommend this place if you need lunch in the area! They also have breakfast, although I've never tried it.
