Kitschy antiques store located in a beautiful old yellow house on a hill. Walking in you'll find multiple rooms and a basement full of curated items ranging from collectibles to cards and glassware to jewelry to cards and much more. Old books and periodicals are cool to flip through, as is the block letter collection downstairs to meander through. Some beautiful quilts here too along with local art. You can tell the owner carefully chooses what to include in her shop. Fair to pricey on most things which we viewed. Soaps, candles, men's and women's items sold here too.

AWESOME STORE!! Definitely worth visiting. The owner Stephanie? And a worker Michelle? Are both fantastic. Very organized. Something for everyone. I bought a cool mushroom tray and a Sleepy Hollow trucker hat.

The Thrift/Vintage/Antique scene in Westchester- is really not that put together. Let me put it this way...there's a shortage of them. So it's really cool Tarrytown has its own Antique store right on S. Broadway. I've driven past Pretty Funny so often, it was just time to visit. The same charm you see on the outside, rolls inside in this gorgeous Victorian home- transformed into an Antique shop. Pretty Funny is stocked with new and Vintage items, Books, Soy candles, tons of costume jewelry, Home Decor items and Men's items. While prices aren't 'dollar rack' low here, you really aren't breaking your pocket either. (I didn't think so). Pretty Funny is sharp and they got style in spades! It really is a different breed of vintage- they got a little of both worlds with antique, quality pieces and on-trend ones too. Service was very nice and so was Sandy who rang me up. Though brief, we thanked Pretty Funny's owner- Stephanie Leggio on the way out. It just took her smile to seal the deal for a return. This has probably turned into my tried-and-true fave Antique Store.

What a gem! Great vintage items and all meticulously laid out throughout a lovely home. Found some great pieces here!

The store attendant/owner was incredibly rude to my partner - a polite inquiry about the price of a piece and any possible discount was met with an exaggerated exclamation of "No! No!" and being instructed with a bit of a condescending tone to put the piece back. A far kinder and more respectful response would have been more appropriate, welcoming, and effective (something like the following would have been more called for: 'no, I'm sorry that is the price I must sell it for, let me know if you're still interested or if i can show you another piece at your price point'). After the reaction, as my partner was putting the piece back and we were already moving toward the door leaving, the attendant/owner half-heartedly offered the piece could still be had (for the stated price), but the damage was already done. Though it is hard to know for certain, and she could have been having a bad day or have this character with everyone and would like to give benefit of the doubt, it is possible that there were some unconscious racial dynamics involved as my partner is a Person of Color. My partner felt deeply embarrassed/humiliated and upset - and the incident left a bad taste. Warning to others and suggest the owner/attendant to examine their behavior toward customers and to treat them with respect and kindness.

I just think it's a higher level of quality and more than anything- Stylish. But structure, the colors and graphics- it's what's also important. And besides...a sofa that might be 40+ years old might be better quality than what you're buying at one of those mass-market retailers! This is where Carole Master Interiors come in. Hubs noticed Carole Masters a few weeks back on his way to Sebastian's Barber Shop. Since then, a trip here- was in order to browse and see if we find a rustic shelf for our home office and another rustic wood piece for my makeup, small clutches perfumes, etc. This shop though- is crammed full and screams 1960s Mod- more than any other style I felt. Think more like- 'The Man from 'U.N.C.L.E' (the original). The nice thing about Carol Masters is that you aren't sorting through piles of 'stuff'. But expect to find everything from coffee tables, plastic clear chairs, high stools, end tables- I mean this places isn't huge by any means but has a lot of interesting stuff. Connie gave us some scoop on the shop and pieces they carry here and on 1stdibs.com. Prices? They're up there. But she hit a home run when she said Interiors can bargain. Give yourself some time to check things out because there are serious treasures tucked inside.

On Tuesday and Thursday mornings, a small group of us would line up outside, waiting for the newly priced donations to hit the floor. When the doors opened, we didn't walk, we charged. The thrill wasn't just in buying something, it was in discovering it. You could furnish an entire home in early-'60s style from that shop alone - shag rugs, macramé curtains, kidney-shaped tables, lava lamps, bar carts, wide-eyed waif prints. It felt like stepping into another era. And if you were lucky and petite, you might even score a designer Prada blazer for the price of lunch. Over the years, thrift shopping became fashionable, and the prices rose with it. The finds are more curated now, the bargains fewer. But every so often, tucked between the racks or hidden on a back shelf, there's still a small spark of that old magic. The best part, which will never change, is knowing your purchase supports local charities at this little thrift shop in Piermont. It's been there for over 50 years too! Some places sell things. Others sell memories. The Tappan Zee Thrift Shop, at its best, did both.

Tucked away in the quiet, still-undiscovered river town of Piermont, it felt like our little secret. On Tuesday and Thursday mornings, a small group of us would line up before the doors opened, eager to rummage through the freshly priced donations. I found antique gold lockets, tarnished pitchers and children's cups that revealed sterling silver once polished, wooden poker chips and dice, hand-painted porcelain bowls, even kitschy gems like a tin Popeye lunchbox or miniature metal army men. The treasures were endless and best of all, affordable. I still stop by now and then, hoping to recapture that thrill, but the finds are fewer. Even a beat-up beaded wallet costs about $10. These days there's a designer rack where nothing is under $100., priced more like a consignment shop than a thrift store. I was lucky to score a Prada dress and jacket a few years back--my size, a women's zero, which isn't exactly in demand. It makes me sad to see this once-humble little shop drift into high-end territory. I'll keep going though, my eye is still trained to spot something special. It just might get a little heavy-lidded waiting for that magic find.
