This is my favorite antique shoppe in northern New Jersey! Every time I walk into this place I feel joy not just from the various antiques but from the people working there. They are knowledge and genuinely like how neat all the stuff is. They are extremely personable. There is the barn filled with furniture, larger antiques and trinkets and the house building that has some really cool antiques throughout. I once saw a JFK campaign hat! The prices are fair and they are also willing to negotiate with you. Every time I've gone in as well there is new stuff which I think speaks for the amount of consigners in the area. The property itself it pretty beautiful too. While I wish I could keep this place a secret, they deserve the business. When you leave something on consignment they do not call when it is sold. You have to call them. That would be O.K. but nobody answers the 'phone. read more

What a fun spot that we stumbled across! So cool to look at the large collection of antique and vintage furniture, clothes, jewelry, mirrors, etc. They are only open on the weekends but wow it is worth coming! This morning my partner and I returned to Abram Demaree Homestead's situated in Closter. Inside this home, you'll find a vintage consignment shop with all sorts of antique treasures and collectibles only open on weekends. We brought two beautiful antique night stands made in Italy and an antique corner chair whose price was just right. However next to the Homestead stands an 18th century blacksmith shop where Fred Maltzan and his crew of craftsmen from Ramapo Mountain Artist-Blacksmiths were working at the forge. Had a nice conversation with him about the coal industry. Since this is a fantastic local non-profit organization to preserve history, all proceeds go for the maintenance of the house and farm across the street. read more

PROS: this is a step back in time to the farming and blacksmith days as these buildings are very historic. Walk around the property and be greeted by many 1920s artifacts. Some of the people are nice and the variety of items for sale will have you browsing for a long time CONS: some of the employees are mean and the stuff is overpriced. Limited parking and it's tough to turn onto the property since it's on a busy road OVERALL: once I month I recommend looking at this place to give it time to get new items read more

I brought my antique juke box to them on consignment. I set the price. The contract I signed said if it sits there too long they can accept a lower offer but would reach out to me before doing so. It was there for a year. I finally decided to go pick it up only to find out it had been sold months ago at a very very low price. I checked with them every month over the phone and was told it had not sold and there was no interest. Not only was it sold at a price I did not accept I had not been compensated for the sale. The lady behind the counter was extremely rude and told me to reach out to the owner. I had to settle for what ever they decided to give me for in checking with a lawyer it would not have been worth the trouble to take them to court as they did not fulfill the contract. BEWARE if putting your items there for consignment . Mark firm on your asking price and go in once a week to see if it was sold. read more

Loved this place. My first time here. What a clean and organized antique store. Not huge, but bigger than I expected. So cool to check out all of the stuff. I skimmed over it all as I went from room to room. I'll definitely be back when I have time to go at a slower pace. Still, I was here over an hour. They seemed to have a little bit of everything and the old historic buildings add to the experience. Very nice!! I also want to try the Farm Cafe across the street! read more

I stumbled upon Abram Demaree Homestead on a lazy Sunday. The parking lot was empty and if it weren't for all the signs on the street pointing to come in we would never had been drawn into this thrift store/antique consignment center. I enjoyed rummaging through everything. The prices are decent, not over-priced and not garage sale but decent prices. I bought a couple items, I enjoyed walking the grounds and the ladies that were working were very pleasant to us. They don't charge $3 to enter in the summer... that must be a holiday time charge. Anyhow, it's worth checking out if you're in the neighborhood. read more

I came here on a whim after church one Sunday. I got a chicken pot pie and apple pie to go. I took the chicken pie for lunch the next day. It was sooooooo delish even after heating it in the microwave! Apple pie was great. I probably should have gotten some of their homemade ice cream to go with. This week I ordered a hamburger. It was so fresh and tasty. The veggies on it had a great crunch. Pickles were home made. Love that! I picked up some of their mango preserves. I'll try them this week. This place is a win. It is very much a hidden gem. They are open ten to five Wednesday to Friday. read more

This is actually for the farm cafe across the street, I think. They enticed my husband with their Farm Burger signs. We went in expecting something impressive, but the burger didn't impress us at all. What did make an impression was the egg sandwiches. My husband has been yapping about going back for that ever since. Only problem for me was, no gluten free bread options. Also, while we were there an actual live chicken showed up. !! going vintage shopping is my absolute favorite thing to do and was originally introduced to this place in town by my mom and grandma! never had the time to go in but finally went with my friend alice which was such a great time! since my first visit there back during the winter time, I've gone most Saturday's since! I've since then brought my best friends there to pick out some clothes, jewelry, VHS tapes, and cameras! wide variety of vintage stuff, and I recommend the barn on the left which is a little messier but have so many more interesting things (and is cheaper + easier to haggle!) the farm across the street is so delicious and my friends and I always make sure we brought enough money for the Mac and cheese (out of this world!!,) the homemade and organic raspberry pie, and feed the chickens!! we love walking through the back of the farm to enjoy the chickens, flowers, produce, and surrounding trees! read more

Wonderful place, such a treasure of historic artifacts and Americana. I love thIs place!

Every year you could purchase beautiful handmade Christmas ornaments and decorations. Now they are selling a bunch of vintage clothing and used home decor with a smattering of old holiday items. Not worth the 3 dollars admission. And to make matters worse, you should leave your purse in your car just in case they tthought you might want to steal some budget items. So sad as this was something my family and friends always looked forward to but no more. The place lost all it's holiday appeal! read more

Visiting the Abram Demaree Homestead is a unique experience. Currently, it sells many vintage items on consignment within its rooms, but the most wonderful thing about the visit is that fact that one is informally entering a historic home and its properties. It's adjacent farm land has been farmed since the 1750's. How amazing! Growing up in Bergen County, I now am experiencing a strong desire to "come home" and really learn about the heritage of this historic part of New Jersey. For those who pay $3 to enter the homestead, consider this. I volunteer at a historic home in NYC and the price to enter is $10; just to enter the Abram Demaree Homestead is worth the cost. Please be aware that historic homes take money and constant care to survive. This homestead has been doing so since the 18th Century. Remarkable. read more
