I have been a customer of Pretty Hair Salon since March 2021. Pretty offers services such as haircuts, single-process color, full and partial highlights, balayage, foilyage, perms, keratin treatments, facial waxing, lash lift and tint, bridal hair and makeup, etcetera. I usually schedule my appointments through the Vagaro website. Over the years, several stylists here have done my hair. They all have started my appointments on time and spoken nicely with me. They make my haircuts the correct length, and they make my highlights a flattering tone and level. Their curling or straightening of my hair looks really good. The prices vary based on the type of service and the level of the employee. For a few years, one stylist charged me for a more-expensive balayage, although she actually did less-expensive foils. (When I first began to come here, foilyage was not on their menu, and one stylist did not know what it was and incorrectly said that my previous salon did not know what they were doing!) Furthermore, she performed add-ons without asking or telling me, and at the cash register, she whispered or wrote down these additional services to her coworker who entered them into the computer. Therefore, I deducted one star from my review for that reason. My current stylist Maleah charges me for the correct service, $192 plus tip for full foils and a haircut. For years I bought their hair products. I am not a fan of their shampoos, but I like their flyaway-fix product. read more

I hate to write a negative review for a local business but, I wouldn't want anyone else to experience the same situation I did. I was looking for a place to get a bridal hair trial done and found Pretty Hair Salon on WeddingWire. On May 11th, I sent along an idea of the hair style I was looking for (below) and scheduled an appointment for June 30th at 4pm. First off, the actual place of business is hard to find. The plaza it is located in has a series of suites all of which have their name listed on the outside in a sort of directory. Pretty does not have their suite listed so I called just to make sure I found the right spot. I'm sure this is more of a landlord issue but thought it would be wise to mention. They also share all parking with the other suites so, I had to park in the church across the street; no biggie. Upon walking in for my appointment, I wasn't greeted. For a while, I stood awkwardly at the front desk and waited for someone to check me in. Instead, a stylist yelled from their station to say I could sit down and wait. The layout of the salon could be better and it felt rather disorganized but, I took a seat. At the 30 minute mark of waiting, I started to get a little miffed. I don't think I would have minded if someone had actually taken the time to say they were running late, or grabbed me a drink, or just acknowledged my existence. After 40 minutes, I texted my fiancé who suggested I leave. She said that if the salon is 40 minutes late for a bride's wedding trial, this is a bad sign. My partner also reminded me that I made this appointment over a month in advance. I decided to leave feeling, honestly, guilty. I stopped at the desk notify someone that I was leaving but, it was still unattended. I desperately tried to make eye-contact with literally anyone but eventually, in tears, I walked out the door. It wasn't until I was leaving that someone actually said anything to me. The manager, informed me that she was the one who was going to be styling my hair and was running behind. She apologized profusely and told me I could have a seat in the salon chair and she would be right with me. I took a moment to compose myself. My plan was to walk back in and tell the manager that I was sorry but, I would prefer to just leave. Instead, I walked back in and, from across the room, she called me over. I didn't want to shout across the salon that I'd like to leave. I was already so uncomfortable from the unprofessional nature of the experience. I just wanted to leave so badly. Still, against my better judgement, I sat down and hoped the disarray didn't reflect in the stylist's skill. I reiterated what I was looking for at the consultation and showed the her the picture that I originally sent on WeddingWire. The hair in the photo is similar length and thickness to mine so, I thought it would be relatively achievable. It was not. After two attempts at what was technically an updo (but not the chignon I hoped for), I left that salon looking like Dame Maggie Smith got caught in a tornado. It was messy. It was matronly. And it felt very haphazard with loose ends everywhere. All the while, the other stylists are gassing it up like I walked into the MET Gala. As I got up to leave, the stylist, who was still running behind, moved on quickly to her next client and I was once again marooned at the dreaded front desk. The whole experience was excruciating. I was charged the full amount and left. I've decided just to do my own hair (see photo with drink in hand taken 1 hour after I got home). I did get a phone call from the manager the next day. She apologized for the delay but looked forward to seeing me for the wedding in September. I cancelled the appointment then and there. After some time, I reached back out on WeddingWire with photos. The response was simply, "I'm sorry you were unhappy with your service. We wish you well on your wedding." I wouldn't recommend it for an occasion or for a regular cut/color. I basically spent $75.00 on some bobby pins and teased hair. read more

Okay, this is going to be long and I had to sleep on this for a few days. First of all, there is no signage on any doors on where the salon is located in the building. Just take a guess, go through the middle business doors and take the elevator upstairs. I know times are different because of covid so I hope I can write this lightly and stick to the points of my bad experience. I'll start with the ambiance. It's odd. It's like a poorly decorated teenagers room. Hot pink walls, an off tan color that I think was meant to be gray, and black with tacky cheap looking jeweled chandeliers. Stations everywhere.. like all over the place. They're along the walls, throughout the middle of the room, in random rooms off the main room. It's a busy atmosphere. Not somewhere you want to go for a calm or relaxing salon experience. I was not greeted upon arrival. I waited 5 minutes or so before a hairdresser walked in the front door and helped me because she walked in and I asked to be checked in. She checked me and asked me to wait in a side room meant to store all the products for sale and be a waiting area. I sat there for 20+ minutes while she went to get Heather, who I had an appointment with. Heather walked by 2-3 times, made eye contact with me twice and never said hello, hi how are you?, never communicated that she's running behind. Nothing. I heard her asking another woman if she could cut my hair. She was also busy.. because she also has her own appointments. Still no communication with me at this point. Another 5 minutes or so go by. In this 25 minutes, another customer arrives, sits next to me and is spoken to by two hair dressers and then taken to the wash sinks. I am eventually taken to have my hair washed by someone else other than who I made my appointment with. After she gets done washing my hair, she takes me to a chair about 6-7 feet from Heather. She is obviously busy and running behind. My chair is facing her and the client she is working on. She doesn't say hi, doesn't apologize, still no communication. I sit there for another 20+ minutes. I've been at the salon for an hour at this point and only have soaking wet hair that is dripping down my back. She only asks how I'm doing when she grabs a tool from the station I'm at. I'm baffled by the lack of communication at this point. I hear her again, ask another person to cut my hair. Kylie, bless her heart.. spoke up about how she has an appointment running late so she will do it. Her appointment arrives while she's cutting my hair. So now I'm bothered for her that her own schedule is behind and Heather still has only said 4 words to me which never included what is going on around me or why so many other people have been asked to take care of me. I overheard her talking about how someone else messed up her scheduling. It's easy to blame others. I purposely only get a trim when I am trying a new salon. This is exactly why. What should have been a 35-45 minute haircut took an hour and a half from start to finish, wait times to blow dry and multiple people to get it done. Thanks Kylie, you did great! I gave them a second chance. First if you somehow run into an issue and can't make it and it's under 24 hours, you will pay for the service regardless. So if you wake up sick or your child is not well or your car won't start. Then h well you still must pay! That's outrageous and that's one reason why I won't go back. Both stylists didn't take the time to style my hair correctly. They just wanted me to be gone. My hair wasn't styled well and I had an job interview. Very little to no styling products were used. My review isnt for the salon in general but regarding the stylist Kylie P. who did my daughters hair. She asked for shoulder length and at the beginning Kelsey agreed and even touched her between the shoulder blades on the back and asked if that was about where she wanted it. My daughter left with a cut that was so short it is barely at her chin. Her hair was not even washed before the cut nor was a spray bottle used , a dry haircut . The whole process took less than 30 minutes which is ridiculous for a decent hair cut. This was not a child this was an 18 year old. She is not even able to pull it into a pony tail . I am extremely disappointed and find it unacceptable . read more

I wish I could give zero stars but they won't let you. Well I am very disappointed with the customer service there. I have been going to Pretty every 6 to 7 weeks for well over a year now. I had an appointment scheduled for late April but it was cancel due the state shutdown. No problem was told I would get priority booking when they reopened since I had an appointment and was a loyal customer. I received an email asking for my availability and if I would be willing to see some other than my usual stylist. I respond right away to let them know I was available any day and time and that I would see someone else to get in sooner. Weeks go by no response so I messaged them on Facebook. No response so I emailed them. No response so I called. When they answered the phone I told them I was trying to book an appointment and was told my stylist would be in that afternoon and would call me. I'm still waiting for the call over a week later. So I called studio raw and was scheduled right away. Don't waist your money here. They would rather give my daughter an appointment that has been there twice than a loyal customer. So my daughter had an appointment today with Savannah. This is the second time she has had this stylist and both times the color and service were terrible. The first time she went in and asked for copper highlights and got blond highlights. When she told her it was wrong they tried to apply a toner to fix it but it was more of a strawberry blond. She liked the cut so she was willing to give her another shot. So today she went in looking to get a grey balayage and this is what she got. Some grey and blond highlights in her hair along with a terrible cut as well. She has curly hair and this cut is nothing but a frizzy mess on top of her head. What happened to me tonight is just UNBELIEVABLE. I scheduled an appointment with Christina Oros at 5.45 pm and I ended up working until 5.00 pm (I work in a hospital and sometimes it's just unpredictable) and since I don't own a car, I tried to book an uber/lyft from Pittsburgh downtown to 6000 Babcock Blvd but couldn't find any driver willing to drive me over there because too far. I waited 30 minutes to have a driver assigned and when I realized I would have been late, I called the hair salon to be polite and inform of my delay. Unfortunately, during that call, the driver I got in that moment cancelled too and I had to wait for 15 minutes more for the next driver so I called the hair salon again to inform that I had to cancel the appointment because I didn't want to create any discomfort, explaining the whole situation. There has been NO FLEXIBILITY, UNDERSTAING NOR CLIENT CARE in making an exception for just one time, also considering that I'm a new client and was bringing a friend with me that wanted to schedule an appointment too. Therefore, they charged me my 67 $ hair cut fee to get NO CUT. I wonder if that's the right way to run a business? Preferring to get 67$ today to then lose two clients that could have brought much more money in the future. Stylist Samantha Shrum is talented skill and always takes the time to listen to what I would like to do. Long lasting color, curls, and beautiful hair designs. Versatile shop with skills/talents for all hair types. While Sam is my favorite, I recommend the salon across the board. Horrible customer service! Do not go here! Was a regular customer going there for getting our hair done. Prices shot up more than double and the stylist never bothered to inform me prior to doing my hair. Prices went up from $90 to $172. No signs posted anywhere and was just told all our stylist rates have gone up. Vague and totally shady! Then one stylist's response was prices are based on the amount of time that takes us to do the hair! Why was I not informed of this before they did my hair? When questioned they were so rude. I will be reporting their behavior to the bureau of better business. Will not recommend this salon to anyone in the area. This was my first time at the salon and my appointment was with Kylie P. Like any girl going to the salon, my hair wasn't freshly washed since I figured my hair would be washed there. She was very nice and said that she likes to cut hair when it's dry. I told her how I wanted my hair cut and she started. After cutting my hair for about 5 minutes and not cutting it how I wanted, she asked if I wanted it curled. I said no and she grab a product and sprayed it on my hair. It came out with a white residue all over my roots. I asked what it was and she said it's for volume and that it's a new bottle so it came out white. She started wiping my hair with a wet towel to get the white off. Then she said she would see me at the counter.... no hair wash. Later that night I tried to wash that stiff residue off my hair and even with me shampooing twice it still wouldn't come out! My hair feels terrible. I did go back and they tried to wash it out with a clarifying shampoo but they didn't get to blow dry my hair so I couldn't see if it was gone. When my hair finally dried I saw that the residue is still there and I could just cry. They also mention that they are supposed to wash clients hair. So disappointed and don't know what to do to get this out of my hair now. read more

She listened to what I wanted, was honest with what would work and what wouldn't work with my hair type and walked out feeling good with my new style. Worst salon I have ever been to- Ever! I would give it zero stars if I could. Long story short I have colored/bleached my hair since age 13-over 2 decades. I discussed with the stylist what I wanted done which was bleaching the roots for a retouch and toning it. It was decided upon and told I would be beautiful. Well I ended up with grayish brown hair. No, I had not 1 gray upon starting. I asked what did you do and why??? I was told if I didn't like it to give it a week that it's very healthy now that it will grow on me. I said no I'm sorry it won't. I like my hair bleached blonde ; we talked about it. You knew that. Why would you do my hair this brown or grayish brown color? I was told the same thing again almost as if they just won't admit a mistake was made. It took 2 weeks to get back in for a correction and that was calling in the very next day. The girls had me come in prior to the salon opening so other wouldn't see this mistake. They were the rudest people I have ever encountered. The one simply refused to do a correction and had an appointment coming in soon and just had "no time for anymore issues". My hair remember I was told was made healthier I was now told - your hair is too damaged to correct as you want any how. I was told I could go somewhere else if I wanted to that's fine with here but she could not issue a refund. My hair although is not thee healthiest head of hair is not too damaged either. It was actually very healthy at that point-at my best. Upon leaving I was given 2 $15 cards - I asked what is this for I just told you how unhappy I am and am going elsewhere. I was told its to give to refer friends!!! What a joke!! I look at it when needing to remeber the name of this salon to tell them to stay far far away!! I was not allowed to speak to a manager or owner and to this day have not yet had a call back from one as requested. I had left my purse upon leaving and had to run back up (they are on a 2nd floor) to get it. On the first floor upon opening the door I could hear the girls that I had just spoken to using profanity & calling me awful names, as well as the UPS man the came in at the same time as me. He shook his head and said its always something up there. I rode up the elevator and walked up to the counter to tell the girls I forgot my purse. One girl mouthed oh my god and started laughing. I just said I am not laughing and see no humor in hearing you speak of me this way all the way down on the first floor where I first came in! There's just no excuse to behave like high school students in a business. I really do expect your owner or manager to call me back. I never got an apology from these girls only a girl pointing to my purse and a wave as she laughed. I never got one from the owner not manager either. I've honestly been to many nice salons- this is not one. Stay far far away from this salon. They have no respect for their clients and if they mess up you will be needing to go elsewhere after going through them. HORRIBLE!!! ZERO STARS! read more

i went in with a picture of what i wanted after purchasing a groupon for a full balayage, cut, and style, and i was pleasantly surprised when i walked out with EXACTLY what i had wanted! there's been too many times where i leave the salon less than happy. i highly recommend checking out pretty hair salon and going to nikki; i already recommended a friend to her! the salon itself is located on the second floor of the building. it's kept very tidy, and it's a nice atmosphere to be in. every customer is offered complimentary coffee and/or water, which is great! read more
