This was my first stop to find my wedding dress. I'm 6' tall and 185lbs and have always struggled to find clothes that fit me -- especially vintage. It was my dream to find a vintage wedding dress and people kept telling me it would be so difficult because of my size. I went into this appointment with my expectations in check... to at least try. My expectations were blown out of the water. Isabella and Inga were incredible. They gave just enough space to feel private but knew the exact moment to pop back in and offer their expertise. Isabella allowed me and my mom to choose dresses I wanted to try on and throughout the appointment, based on what I was liking, she pulled a couple more dresses. None of the dresses "fit" me as they are, but that was no issue. Isabella offered tailoring ideas and possibilities that made me feel like I was the priority and the dresses were made for me. I have spent many shopping trips crying in the dressing room... not in Pretty Parlor. I felt like a vintage icon in the making. Truly couldn't have been a better time. We were visiting from California and wanting to shop around for some fun clothes of the girlie kind and the vintage variety. This store is a pink paradise that is anyone's dream if they want to look cute and in a girlie fit. They had plenty of vintage attire, and while a bit pricey, I can say felt like a fair price for the material and feel of their clothes. They have a plus size section! While it was rather small when we went, they are looking to brands that they are partnering up with to expand their sizes in the near future :D they also have a small men's sections with a variety of sizes so definitely look into it if you are in needs of men's wear. The fitting rooms are super lush feeling, with heavy curtains for a dramatic exit and entrance for each peice you try on. They have an assortment of accessories and shoes throughout the store for you to search through and find perfect peices that are both unique but pair well with many of the shops items. However I must say the highlight of the store is their resident kitty! You come for the clothes but you stay for the fun canter wither the manager and tons of oats and cuddles from this pampered princess of a cat. She normally stays up from near the register in her bed so definitely say hi when you stop by! I honestly cannot wait to come back to Seattle next year and this is one if the many reasons why. read more

This place was amazing, and the 3 women working there today were absolutely wonderful! I highly recommend going in and checking it out whether you'relooking for a whimsical outfit, formal wear, or something unique to add to your wardrobe. This weekend we were looking for a prom dress. We went to 2 malls (there were only the same two stores at both malls with prom dresses), but wanted to see what else was available and wanted to find a local business if we could. I found Pretty Parlor online and expected it to be a slightly Qupscale 2nd hand store. That wasn't the case at all. They do have some 2nd hand items but also many new. None of the items that weren't new looked like they had been abused at all, in fact they looked better than some of the new items we'd seen at the mall stores. My daughter is thrilled with her gorgeous dress and delighted that no one will have an identical one. The prices were in line or lower than the dresses we found at the mall stores, I'm so glad we found this local small business to support. As many other people have stated, the owners and staff here are so incredibly rude and will ruin your day. Don't come here! Came here as part of a trip with my sisters and best friend and left incredibly upset. Went inside and looked at the clothes. Saw that they had a bridal section in the back and decided to walk over to that side. (Let it be known that there was an open hallway connecting the two sides. There were no signs anywhere saying you couldn't go back there and I had already seen one employee take someone else over there.) Once I went to that side, that employee said that I needed to leave since it's by appointment only. I told her with a smile that I wasn't trying anything on, I just liked vintage clothes and was curious to see what they had. She told me again very loudly and rudely that it was by appointment only and that I needed to leave. She could've yelled gtfo and it wouldn't have been any ruder than what she said. She ruined my whole experience and almost the whole day itself. What a horrible way to treat customers, especially as a small business that depends on people coming back. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. She needs to learn some manners and how to properly communicate with people. The owner tried saying they were short staffed (it's a TINY shop) and that the employee did what she thought was best. Are you kidding me? Yelling at a customer (who brought in 6 ladies looking to go shopping btw) is what you think is best? Give me a break. You shouldn't be in this business unless you know what customer service means. read more

She was so kind, friendly and helpful and when she found out my friend was getting married she jumped in to help pick out dresses and things to style with. Took my senior here for their senior prom dress and Pretty Parlor was great! They were accommodating to my bringing a stroller in and us being super energetic and overly excited about EVERYTHING in the store. They helped my kiddo with a beautifully fitting and stunning dress, shoes and caplet. Body positivity, inclusion and helpfulness were at the forefront of our experience. I'm so glad I found this place and my kid was able to have such an amazing experience! I literally spent the same amount for Homecoming at a David's bridal and only got a dress and petticoat. Not the real quality customer service drenched in humanity that we received at Pretty Parlor! We are going to be a return customer here for sure. I just got back from my first-time visit to Pretty Parlor and felt the need to gush about it. This place is definitely worth checking out if you are totally into the vintage scene. The owner of this shop has an eye for good vintage pieces. I was absolutely drooling over the fabulous belts and jewelry the whole 30 minutes I was there. During my short visit, I had a nice conversation with the owner's mother, who was watching the shop. She is such a sweet woman and I would definitely go back just to visit her (if I lived in Seattle that is). If I wasn't so broke, I would have purchased 2-3 rings and definitely 3 really unique looking clasp belts. I had never seen anything like what was on display at Pretty Parlor and if you are a person who definitely wants to stand out from the crowd (but not in a flashy-look-at-me) way, then drive down to Pretty Parlor and check that baby out! BTW, I have to point out that this vintage store is almost definitely superior to many stores I've visited in LA, simply because of the fact that it doesn't smell "vintage" (i.e., like stuffy old clothes). Love at first sight for the ultra fem and vintage lovers! With a dash of kitsch, its all eye candy. Upon first entrance I was greeted by the sweetest owner, who willingly attended to setting up a room for me. I found myself drawn right away to the rack of colorful vintage slips that lay beneath of giant picture of Audrey Hepburn. Most of the clothes I would classify under a cross between Betsey Johnson and Patricia field. Its fun stuff, but nothing really too fancy. The prices were right in line, not very pricey but still worth a good penny or two. I give a shoutout to the nice and unique owner for creating this fab store in Seattle! read more

First yelp review!!!! I had the BEST time wedding dress shopping at Pretty Parlor!!!! Inga helped me and was incredibly considerate in giving me space to make my own selections while also providing suggestions. She was able to give me excellent professional insight into fabrics, tailoring considerations, styling, and made sure I felt generally comfortable. The variety of dresses was excellent, all at *incredibly* reasonable prices! I walked away with a gorgeous vintage dress and veil, I got to have my magical "the dress" moment, and the bountiful selection of accessories was a highlight. It was my one and only stop, and I am extremely satisfied. PLUS- the space is SO, SO cool!!! You feel like a princess, not to mention how wonderful Mittens the cat and Frankie the dog were (Frankie also always knew when it was a good dress and would pop in). Inga, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!! This is such an adorable little vintage store! It is decorated so cute! Most of the clothing is geared for women but there is a very nice section of men's clothing that is unique and seems to be of top quality! I found an adorable 60's flavored shirt that I was very tempted to buy but managed to resist. Steve was entranced by the fedoras that they had for sale and suit jackets. This little store is what Capitol Hill is all about which is fun, quirky and unique! What better way to attract customers than to have lovely tutus and fashion plates at the front door! After admiring the tutus hanging outside, I spent about 7 minutes perfecting my fashion plate art. "You have to sign and date it", says the owner. "Why?", I asked. "Because you should". So I did. I clutched the memory of my childhood close to my heart as I rifled through vintage and vintage inspired jewelry, hair accessories, and legwear. From the customer side of the cash counter, I admired the cutting table, sewing books, and other seamstress tools that the owner used for repairs. I asked if she tried to repair garments the way that they were originally sewn and was delighted with her positive reply. I loved the pretty, girly theme in the store. I will definitely be back to purchase a tutu and possibly more cute hair stuff. read more

Great vibe! The Pretty Parlor is what it says: pretty- but amidst all the pink and fluff are a few good suits and funny clip-on bowties. A really great selection of mostly women's vintage clothing and accessories, but a little men's. For the men's stuff, I was most impressed with the ties. Unfortunately, I can rarely find vintage men's clothing that fits me. The women's selection looked really impressive, particularly with the dresses and shoes. There were also some new vegan wallets that had cute animals on them. But the best part (to me) was the striped cat hanging out and following my girlfriend and I around the store. First off, there are some very lovely pieces here. In fact, I planned to buy a few. An employee of the store was helping me and when I inquired about bathing suits she went to get a beautiful orange 1970s piece--and then the owner jumped in saying "ohhhh that one is tiny" and took it out of the employees hand and PUT IT BACK. She would not let me see it. I was horrified at her behavior. I run a vintage shop and you must trust the customer or at least gently guide them toward something that might be a better fit. Not deny them access to items. Previous reviews note similar behaviors so this is a pattern that needs to be noted. I wound up leaving after looking at the tag which was absolutely my size. I probably would have bought it. The owner lost a sale and a customer. What is worse is the store claims to be size inclusive. Inclusivity is not just a label, it's a way of acknowledging the needs of people of all sizes. Fellow vintage lovers--head to some of the many other wonderful shops in the university district. Are you kidding me? Is this place real?! I've visited numerous times but the first time was just because I happened to be in the area and found myself drawn to all of the pretty things in the window. I walk in and my eyes were drawn in every direction. Mannequins with awesome vintage wear on them, racks of shoes and more clothes, an adorable sofa in the middle of the store, stuff hanging from the ceilings, and the man who so graciously greeted me and welcomed me into the shop. It really felt like for a second I was in a candy store! It's just so adorable end every piece is a special find. Pretty Parlor is girly heaven. I loved the original Greenwood store, but the move to this fantastic space on Cap Hill makes a lot of sense. The owner was really on the cusp of the craft revolution. I love that she supports local artisans & has fun creations to round out her excellent selection of vintage - & vintage inspired - pieces. Prices are very reasonable here. If you find a piece you love, you can often get out for less than 50 bucks, which is getting harder to do these days. Definitely worth a stop if you're on the Hill! read more

Ever go into a store and the owner just gives you an annoyed look like she doesn't want to help you and then she doesn't... even though you came in with money to burn? Well, that's what happened here. My entire weekend visit to Seattle was centered around vintage clothes shopping and I was really looking forward to picking up some pieces from this place but the owner's attitude and lack of attention to me... instead she spent her full time focused on this one guy and never offered to help me in anyway - was a major turn off, so I took my money and headed to Red Light and Diva Dollz. This turned out to be the best move I could have made as Pretty Parlor had some cute pieces but no "wow" factor - whereas Red Light and Diva Dollz most certainly did. Anna is awesome! I had an appointment at the bridal shop and she was so sweet from the moment my friend and I walked in. I'm not a girly girl so the thought of trying on wedding dresses was never that thrilling to me. But Anna made it so much fun! She was so helpful! She picked out 5 or 6 dresses for me to try on and they were all beautiful. And she really knows her stuff! She helped me accessorize with headpieces and parasols and gloves etc. It was a blast! And I am absolutely in love with one of the dresses I tried on. It fit me perfectly, and I am an xs, so she does have dresses for all different body types. Anna said I should sleep on it and if I can't stop thinking about the dress then that's when I know it is the one. She even gave me names of a couple other vintage bridal boutiques in Seattle. I get the feeling that she really wants you to get something you absolutely love. The non-bridal part of her store is super cute! She has both vintage and local designers clothing for sale. And the wigs are awesome! In fact I am going back today to get the green one for the Seahawks game :) I love this place and I love supporting people like Anna. read more

Pretty Parlor is so girly and glittery and pink it always makes me feel like I've wandered into a John Waters movie. Normally in a vintage store I get overwhelmed by the racks and racks of mismatched and disorganized items I just give up and buy shoes and go to Urban Outfitters but at Pretty Parlor I find actual clothes and accessories. The shoes aren't bad either, one time when I couldn't decide between two pairs and was on a budget, the owner told me to take them both for half price because she could tell how much I loved them. YEEE! Yikes! Yow! The fashion here reminds me of "Pretty In Pink" when Molly Ringwald takes three ugly dresses and makes one ugly dress out of them. My friend and I stopped by around 4:30p on a Friday. My friend is a frequent shopper so she recommended we take a look. I had a wonderful time looking at all of the cute clothes and vintage treasures. My friend and I had a 45-minute conversation with a store employee named Natasha, who was busy steaming a customer's prom dress in the back of the store. We shared some cool stories and talked about fashion. It was a pleasant surprise! I also liked hanging out with the cat and dog named Lucy. It felt very homey and welcoming into the store. I loved the French music playing in the background. The atmosphere transported me to somewhere far away! When I have some more money, I hope to buy a summer dress there. read more

I have to pace myself when I'm at Pretty Parlor; it's way too easy to go into a vintage fashion trance and spend more than I meant to! Anna carries some of my favorite vintage reproduction brands, including Stop Staring, Unique Vintage, Heart of Haute, and Trashy Diva. She also stocks a nice range of sizes. The best part is that she doesn't mark stuff up! You might pay a couple dollars more (and I really do mean just a couple) than you would if you ordered online, but I'd rather try it on and buy it on the spot at Pretty Parlor than bother with shipping, etc. It's a welcoming, fun, girly environment. I've enjoyed every purchase I've made there, including some fabulous, well-priced brooches! read more
