I needed four wisdom teeth removed in a hospital setting due to other complex and rare medical conditions I have. For the past year, I went to six other oral surgeons explaining the care I need and each of them couldn't accommodate my needs for a variety of reasons. After advocating for myself and my wisdom teeth getting progressively worse, I found Dr. Peter Protzel & his staff, who were able to do my surgery in the hospital setting I needed. His incredible staff worked with my insurance company to get the surgery approved through my health insurance. It's been a little over 1 week post op and I'm back to my regular self, no more swelling, and the recovery was much better than I expected. Dr. Protzel in my eyes, was the only oral surgeon that actually was able to have empathy for my complex situation and I'm thankful for him and his staff's dedication to my health. If you are a simple or complex case for oral surgery, and looking for a great office to have your surgery, or need a hospital setting- I recommend Dr. Peter Protzel.

I needed extractions, complex bone grafts and implants to fix the damage from failed root canals done by another doctor. Not an easy procedure to get right, but Dr. Protzel did a wonderful job with skill and compassion. From the moment I booked my first appointment with his ultra friendly assistant Karen through the actual procedures, Dr. Protzel and his staff couldn't have been more caring and professional. Pricing is clear and upfront with no shenanigans as I've experienced elsewhere, and all follow-up visits are included. The office runs on time and Dr. Protzel has the latest technology in his office including 3D scans. Being a coward I opted for anesthesia for the extractions and that went perfectly too. I went in to have the female short haired blond dentist check a crown that has been feeling sensitive when I bite down on it. I was seated in a room quickly but then had to wait forever until she finally came in the room. I told her what I was there for she and said I needed new X-rays, so they did that and I was sitting there waiting again. Finally she came back and just started filing down my crown to adjust it. I literally pushed their hands away because I was in pain and had tears rolling down my face. She then asked if I wanted her to numb it, which I thought would've been obvious from the beginning, I said yes so she gave me that and I had to wait 10 minutes for it to take effect. 10 minutes passed and I had to ask how much longer she would be. I was told she was coming. She didn't come for another 10 minutes. When she finally walked by and heard me asking again when she was coming. She stood at the door and said "what's the problem?" That set me off and I complained about her having me wait so long and just walking back and forth and I asked her why she didn't numb me in the first place knowing my tooth was hurting and she said that it wasn't obvious to her that she would have to. The dental assistant also chimed in to say that she wasn't just walking around. After they finished and I left I made sure to tell the front desk to make a note that I didn't want either one of them working on me again.

I went to Dr. Gascoigne for a root canal. I am one of those people with severe anxiety about…read moredentists. I was told I would be in good hands and they are particularly sensitive to patients with dental issues. This could not be further from the truth. Even disregarding the lack of modernity and shabby surroundings, I should have realized this when Dr. Gascoigne gave me the most excruciating novocaine injection I ever had in my life. I almost passed out from the pain. I have had root canals in the past and novocaine was the least of my worries. I felt as if she rushed through the procedure, and afterwards I still felt pain in the tooth and the surrounding area. I went back to the office several times explaining the pain I was having, and I was repeatedly told not to worry, it was normal. On those follow-up visits Dr. Gascoigne didn't even appear in the examination room. She sent her assistants back and forth to relay information. They did various procedures that had nothing to do with the pain that I was describing and was repeatedly told to trust them. It is now 12 weeks post-procedure and I am still in constant pain. In summary, this office is not sensitive to patients' anxieties, on the contrary, is even callous and mocking of concerns that you express or questions you may have and the doctor can't even be bothered to do a follow-up. Update: the same tooth Gascoigne worked and caused all the pain with had to be extracted anyway!

Any correspondence I had through email or by phone with the front desk was polite, prompt, and very professional. During the consultation, I was greeted very warmly by the woman at the front desk. I appreciated that her demeanor seemed very sincere (not the forced friendliness some try to put on). The X-ray technician was very courteous and gentle, explaining each step she took. Dr. Meneshian, who I met for the first time, was very friendly and professional. I appreciated that he spoke very thoroughly and patiently and not in a sterile, but in a very human manner. I knew immediately I wanted to be in his care for my first invasive dental procedure. On the day of my actual wisdom tooth removal, it went very smoothly. Every staff member was very courteous and put me at ease. The atmosphere was very calm, had good energy, and everything was handled in a timely manner. The surgeon's assistant was very pleasant and also guided me through every movement. Dr. Meneshian was just as pleasant as during the consultation.
