Update: 043026: Ethan came out today to do my weed prevention fertilization. I was late getting home and not able to bring my little poodle inside. Ethan made sure she stayed in the sunroom while he put the weed preventative solution down. He was careful to make sure that the gate was closed and that my little dog was safe. I have used Preventive Pest Control in Draper for years with wonderful results. When the elm seed bugs infestation came, their service helped a nightmare become manageable within a week. I kept with the quarterly treatments for ourselves and our rental property - worth every penny. Technicians were polite and prompt and helpful. Communication with office staff has been exemplary. I have felt like they go the extra mile to serve the customer. Would recommend to anyone. read more

Zero service I canceled Oct 2023 as nothing worked on my pest in yard bugs, spider, rodent ( tech was very nice product a waste I started to do my own yard with success!!) To my surprise to hear from then end of july2024 and now telling I did not cancel and me per contract there will be a cancellation fee!!! What????? In October 2023, I called and asked them to redo the service as they didn't do it and we have many pest because of this. I asked to let me know when they are coming so I am home to ensure that service is as they said as this is what we agreed and they started to come when we are not home and the service is not as per contract. Today, July 17 is 2024, we observed that our home got infested by many pests and my husband checked the account to see what it is going on. We found out that they stopped coming without letting us know. I can only say WOW as I have no other words for the poor service offered by this company. We are going somewhere else. I checked the latest reviews and it looks like they are all one star. Something happened one year ago and the company's service is poor and not what was for many years. read more

I'm only giving an extra star because the technicians are super nice when they come out. I have been living in my home for a year and a half. The person who lived here before me refused pest control to spray inside so I knew I was in for some critters when I moved in. Unfortunately, Preventive Pest Control has been in charge of spraying, per my landlord. I have been dealing with a carpet beetle infestation since moving in. This company has made visits to my home over 50 times in the year and a half of being here. Last summer, their manager came out weekly for three months to try and get it taken care of. Now let me be clear that I have hard wood floors throughout my home. No carpet in sight. I also randomly got hit with clothes moths about a month ago. Before you assume that I'm living in filth, I clean my house thoroughly twice a week. You could lick my floors. I went out of town for two weeks and had washed all of my clothes and put them in vacuum sealed bags before I left. When I got home, I had carpet beetles on the bags of clothes. No idea what to do at this point. I've invested my own money to get traps for the flying bugs which seems to be working better than the spray. When I asked the receptionist (not going to name her) what more they could do, she said nothing. Just the same spray they have been using the whole time, which is obviously not working. She also makes me send pictures of the carpet beetles before scheduling to prove that I'm not making them up. I asked about fumigation and she said they only do that for bed bugs or cockroaches. I then asked her what I could do and she had the nerve to tell me to clean my house better. The only reason I'm still using them is because my landlord pays for it but they are a pretty terrible company. read more

The technician was great. He knocked on the door before he started and asked if there were any places from the last one that we noticed were a problem. He also stopped at the end and asked if there's anything else he could do or if there were any problems with my property. I had remembered a problem with snakes and he mentioned some other problem we might have and what they provided for that. All in all, he was very proactive in helping us with our pest control problems. read more

I still have ants and spiders. Had them come out 7 days after they initially sprayed because I still had an ant hill with active ants. I also have spiders in my attached garage (garage attached to my house so I really need the spiders to be dead so they don't make it into my house. They sprayed the interior and exterior of my garage so I'm not sure why their product did not work. They make you sign a contract so you are stuck with their service. I will keep calling and asking them to come out until I do not see the ants and spiders. Wish me luck. read more

We used this pest control company for a year (as required by a contract) to spray quarterly the outside perimeter of our home and basement due to an ugly spider problem. It seemed to be good the first two sprays and then went downhill. We had issues with scheduling and then reps would show up in unannounced to spray. The spiders kept coming. I was still having to place sticky traps all around the basement as was still collecting spiders in those traps. On our most recent quarterly spray, we showed the rep some of the filled sticky traps and he mentioned that he could spray the window wells if we would like.... why wasn't that done before?? Well, he did (I watched him) and it didn't make a difference. Spiders still showing up. Glad the contract is up and we can move on to someone else who will hopefully do a much better job. read more

We have a problem with black widows and other spiders in our area so I scheduled an appointment with Preventive Pest Control. They came out in just a couple of days. I can't remember the name of the young man that came out. We had a quick consultation and they he went around our exterior and different interior areas in our home spraying for spiders. I've used Preventative for 2 years now and they do such a great job I start to wonder if I need them...lesson learned, I do! I missed my last service and forgot to reschedule even though they went above and beyond following up and tried to get me back on the books. Spiders have started popping up like crazy and I'm kicking myself for not getting Preventive back sooner. They just rescheduled me and made sure I knew that if I need even one more extra appointment to get back under control they would happily come back out. They give plenty of notice when they will be coming out and have the friendliest techs. 5 stars from this client! read more

Forcing someone that is out of work to pay a cancel fee when they call to put their account on hold, because they cannot afford your services anymore is completely ridiculous and poor business practice. I hope you sleep well at night being the type of company that couldn't give a crap less about your customers. We have been customers of Preventive for several years now and the service is usually very good and we appreciate their quarterly visits. Recent months though it seems that the representatives have been a little less than thorough. Today though we had Ashton come by and his work was exemplary. He asked questions and then he followed through unlike anyone that has been here in quite some time. It really restored my faith in this company and I hope the others will follow his lead when they come by. I will be watching to make sure they do. I got a mailer from Preventive Pest Control I called them today August 02 2018, The owner was rude and didn't care the flyer says Same day Service guaranteed which when we asked them to come out today they told us no ones available when the mailer says same day service which means they have to come out today and the day that you call which would be August 02 2018. Since that's when we asked them to come out. The owner is rude and doesn't care about costumers and don't care about his business when we talked to him. I even have proof of the mailer and what it says, This company likes to false advertise. read more

We continually get wasps in our house despite having preventative for years. When we found black widows in our yard they didn't send anyone out for a week. While we were out of town for thanksgiving they came while we were gone. They have ALWAYS called me before coming and sent an email. This is one if the reasons i kept them despite the wasps and their strange calmness to the fact that black widows are where my kids play. I was waiting for the call because i needed them to come in about two weeks when we would be home and when my credit card was paid off. While on vacation i had neighbors calling concerned that both of my gates were wide open. They checked around for us to make sure everything was ok and we were worried someone broke in. We came home a day earlier to see what had happened. Lo and behold a preventative card was on our doorstep. I had no idea. I called and asked for a refund because that was poor service. I left my trip early!! Oh and we came home to a mouse in our house! The girl i talked to said she could take that charge off and then recharge later and that they had sent me an email (?!). She took off the charge but did it for the September service! Now I'm going to be charged for 2 services that's. $204 over the holidays. She said i could pay for the other one later or something, honestly I'm confused at what happened and frustrated. Now I'm reading there's a cancellation charge?! I was never told about that. Find a different pest control company. Update: there is no cancellation fee and they called this morning so we can figure something out. I'm at work but I'll update again after I am able to call them. 11/28 update: i haven't been able to call the company yet but i did get an email that my card was charged $204. read more

We had them for a couple years they had the ants at bay for a while. We had them come out over and over again and couldn't fully get rid of them they glopped some poison on the walls and left it there to ruin the paint and streak down . We had lawn with them too. On our last application, our lawn started dying when they came out for ants I asked them about it dying and they said we needed to water it more. We did as they instructed and it was still dying I had another company come out to look at it and within minutes he diagnosed grubs and had it treated. Sure enough, the lawn is coming back . They seem to do the minimum required to be done with the appointment. I called to cancel an appointment as they had been to our house 2 or 3 days prior for the ants and it wouldn't do any good to come back that soon and I hadn't seen any ants since then. I let them know at the same time that I wouldn't be renewing and that I wanted to cancel the lawn immediately. They sent me to cancellations (which I thought was weird since I still had prepaid pest for a short while). They canceled the whole account, apparently issuing a refund for the last quarter that I had prepaid without informing me that was what they were canceling. I called them today as I have ants COVERING my kitchen sink and to have them come out to treat as they should (according to what I understood at the time) be under contract. The agent told me that they couldn't come out as we were no longer customers with them. I was confused and after digging with her and getting transferred to the previous agent that canceled my account, I found out that they had not only canceled the lawn and the appointment, but canceled my entire amount and issued a refund for the last prepaid quarter. She lied to my husband about what I asked for (even though he was there for the conversation and heard himself what I asked for) and in the end we're just hung up as there was no use to continuing the conversation with someone who clearly just changed her entire attitude and story when she talked to him. I would NEVER recommend these people to anyone again. read more

They used high pressed and predatory sales techniques to get my wife to sign a contract with them when she called them for a one time service call. This is a company who does not know the meaning of customer-centric service. They only have their best interests in mind. My wife was so pressured she did not feel she could take the time to wait until I was off the phone to discuss it with me. The agent used phrases like: "If you don't sign now then I won't get the credit for the sale" and "you have to sign now before I leave or you won't get this deal and I have to go now to other clients as we are very busy." They should be ashamed of themselves for preying on people with techniques they are not armed to deal with. We have 2 other properties we would have had them help us out with for many years. They lost out on a great possible customer with a propensity to tell other people how he feels about this company. read more

ZERO stars. I strongly urge anybody thinking about using Preventive pest control to go elsewhere. They have no sympathy for those down on their luck. I lost my job I was with for the last 11 years a few months back. At that time I had one service left with them. I tried to explain my situation and it fell on deaf ears. They still required me to either pay $89 for the last service, or pay the cancellation fee of $53. They had no understanding....check that, caring, they had no caring of someone going through a hard time. They wouldn't take into consideration I'm currently unemployed and just forgo this payment and cancel the account. They wanted their money and they didn't care otherwise. So, I paid the cancellation fee. Thank you Preventative for being so understanding. There are lots of options out there. Once I was back on my feet I would've come back and used preventative. I even said that to them. They didn't care. I asked for a final letter saying the account is paid off. I was promised by Ashley they would send one. Let's hope they do. If not, it is posted and written that it was asked for and the account was promised as closed. ZERO stars. There are many options out there and I hope my story gets those businesses more patrons. I had this company do my pest control over the summer and fall when we moved to Sugarhouse in Utah. Every time the technician came, he was friendly and wore those blue booties over his shoes. (I love when companies respect homes and wear those.) We are now having to move out of state and had to cancel our service. They honored their commitment to me that we could cancel our contract since there was a chance we would be moving slightly earlier than our contract. They are an outstanding honest company and that speaks volumes to me. There are so many pest control companies, but this one takes the cake. When we move back to Utah, this will be who we have take care of those nasty spiders and bugs. Their product solution is safe for my kids and dog, I highly recommend this place to anyone considering getting their home treated. I sadly give preventative pest control 1 Star. I called for a one time service back in 2016. When the service was complete they brought me a paper to sign which I thought was just a paper saying I was satisfied with their service. Apparently signed a service agreement where they were to come back to my house more times within a years period of time. I did not ask for this contract, I wanted a one time service. I was contacted on and off to have a return service throughout the years but I never had them come out because the problem had been taken care of. Late last fall I got an invoice for $151 and some change to terminate my service agreement. The agreement I never knew I had signed. I explained all this to a manager and I told what had happened. I didn't want them to ding my credit for delinquent payment so I was forced to work with them on a paper I had signed unknowingly in 2016. I worked out a payment plan with them. I told them I would send them $10 a month for 7 months to get them paid in full. It was a way for me to still get my way which was to not be out a chunk of change and they would get paid. Today I got a bill for $6 in interest from a conversation I held a few weeks ago. 10% interest rate. I called today and paid in full as I don't want them to have any more of my hard earned money. I promised them they would get an honest review from me on yelp. Hope it was worth it for them. Won't suggest preventative to anyone. Poor business model, poor communication. Lesson learned, I won't trust and service companies when they come to my house. Read every line people. Make sure you are signing for exactly what you have asked for. read more

Not sure what a pest control company has to do to get a 5 star rating - but Preventive Pest Control is a pleasant company with which to do business. The staff is friendly and helpful. They come to treat our home regularly and leave a postcard with information about what they did. They are very responsive if we have questions or concerns. Overall we're very happy! read more
