    My first taxidermied starling

Allis is a consummate professional, perfectionist, and kind, wonderful human. I took a starling class from her and learned to taxidermy a bird. Her teaching is fantastic and thorough. After coming home I wanted to continue and all I had to do was look at the instructions she sent to repeat the steps of the class. Thank you! I will see you again soon for the skunk class:)

Amazing class. Learned fast and efficiently and so much for a two day class! Allis and her assistances were very nice and personable and helpful! Definitely going to be taking another class as soon as one is available.

    My beautiful European starling.

Ask the Community - Prey Taxidermy

    Do you taxidermy cats?

We do very specific pet taxidermy based on the specimen and availability of budget. Pet taxidermy is very labor intensive and takes all of our skill. We recommend a budget of at least $5,000.

I just took the Birds 101 class and it was hands down the coolest most unique workshop I have EVER done.

Memento Mori is a slice of oddities and curiosities of all kinds for sure... From smoky quartz, amethyst and incenses to your accessories, skeleton keys and figurines to books, nooks and break in case of emergency vampire emergencies. They have some fun vintage movie posters, including in magnet form in the mix I'll definitely be back for! This Hollywood hidden gem sits pretty much by itself across from the Amazon Prime Experience theater off Wilcox Avenue/Sunset Blvd between Sunset and Selma Avenue. Street parking (meter), local parking garages and lots or the metro (a short stroll from Hollywood/Vine) are your foeful friend. Great customer service and so many attentions to detail displayed throughout their entire store. One thing I truly enjoyed/enjoy about Memento M. is their support of others, including several look clubs, organizations and events like the iconic She's in Parties goth night event every 4th Friday of the month. Open from Noon (12pm) to 6 daily, Thursday through Tuesday, with the exception of Wednesdays when they rest (are closed).

After Necromance, sadly, closed their brick and mortar shop, there was a brief period in time where…read moretheir combination of taxidermy and Victoriana was no where to be seen. I'm a big fan of Gold Bug in Pasadena, but they are not quite as "dark" in their aesthetic. Memento Mori, on the other hand, feels like a pretty good replacement. So, what are you going to find here? Well, as you may have guessed from my intro, taxidermy. The classic boars and deer heads preserved as wall ornaments...but also delicate butterflies beautifully arranged under glass domes. While no where near as extensive a collection of preserved animal parts as Necromance, there still is a decent collection, particularly for decor. Memento Mori also lacks the strong mothball smell that permeated the aforementioned store. There is a large collection of silver jewelry incorporating classic taxidermy elements, such as glass eyes. And lots of trinkets for those of a "gothic" aesthetic. They also carry a number of very comfortable tshirts bearing variations of their logo, one of which currently hangs in my closet. Memento Mori also appears to serve as a gothic community center: they always have flyers and posters advertising events such as Endless Night, a vampire-themed ball, or gothic-themed fairs for artisans. So, definitely worth a visit if your aesthetics or predilections lean to the darker side of life.

Lots of monster themed merchandise for sale, skeletons, halloween snack bowls, Stranger Things cookbook, novelty accessories, evil character masks, dead insect and animal displays, creepy sculptures, and of course photo ops galore, like the camp horror boat scene with Jason Voorhees.

If you are into horror and such this is definitely a spot you would like. There are a variety of items to purchase here. Some are more run of the mill mass produced items like candles, purses, slippers, books and such. While other items were clearly thrifted and one of a kind or vintage. Very neat to have that kind of a variety. For example you can get a $20 skill candle or a $400 old operating table. See what I mean? It's definitely a great store to browse around. I easily spent 20 minutes just looking between their three rooms. The reason I did dock one star though is that while it was fun to browse, it's not necessarily my kind of merch. To each their own. Even more so I did find some of the prices to be a little high, maybe it's just me. One example I could give was I found a pretty simple necklace with a bat and heart that I've literally seen a hundred times over at Claire's. That necklace easily is about $7 or so, but here they were selling it for $35. I get they need to make a profit but the quality wasn't there and it was giving child's costume jewelry at a more expensive price. Surely they need to make the rent and knowing that a lot of people who come in are more so "just looking around" it makes sense prices need to be adjusted. A final positive to end on a good note is that the staff are absolutely lovely here. There were multiple staff working which I appreciated. Everyone was very very nice and welcoming. I love their passion for this store and enthusiasm. Nice people work here and I'm glad there is a store like this around for those who can truly appreciate what it has to offer.

And a lot of antiquities focused on large scale decoration. One one hand, there are some beautiful pieces. The light fixtures are pretty impressive in their variety of age and style. It seriously gave me the "Damn, I wish I had a big house to decorate." Ultimately, though, that's why this place doesn't quite work for me. There are tons of things to look at, antique barber chairs, long dining tables, stamp dispensers from the 50's and Neo-Classical statuary. Fun eye candy. But the price point for almost everything is for the wealthy homeowner or the professional interior decorator. Even at the Mart Collective in Venice, which is a high end antique mall, had some things that were very reasonable (I bought some beautiful brocade pillows there). Here? Not so much. So, fun to rifle through if you're into antiques, but unless you have some fairly serious cash, not a lot of actual shopping opportunity.

I found a cool vintage ships binnacle that was converted into a lamp that I plan on polishing up and returning to a compass.. prices overall are fair some items can be pretty pricey, but they are in very good condition overall.. I definitely look forward to coming back to this Place soon. If you find an item that you love, but don't have room in your vehicle they do deliver with added cost.
