Price rite deserves to be one of the best sandwich and pizza spots in the Midwest - trust me I am not exaggerating. It is in a small corner of North Kansas City and looks like a simple little supermarket with an Italian deli inside but the food here is really outstanding!!! They sell authentic Italian food like Italian sandwiches, pizzas, strombolis and moreeee. It was 100% worth the drive from South Overland Park and I am already thinking when I can go again. We went for lunch and ordered the Italian beef sandwich and the Angry Capone pizza. Both were really good and we did not expect it to be this tasty. The Italian beef was cooked perfectly and was tender at every bite with the right amount of cheese and spicy peppers. The pizza was even better!! It had a nice crispy base and was full of good toppings like Italian beef, smashed meatballs, pepperoni, lots of cheese and spicy peppers. I love spicy food so I really enjoyed it. Everything was hot, cheesy, a little spicy and very flavorful. If I have to choose between the two , I would pick the pizza over the sandwich. The supermarket part is also very well kept and offers wide variety of options to buy ranging from groceries to fresh flowers/herbs . Along with the Deli, they also sell homemade barbecue slabs, burnt ends, local Amish food, frozen pizzas, desserts like chocolate cake and vanilla cake, and also dishes like meatballs spaghetti, pasta and many many more fresh frozen grab and go dishes. This place was great! A friend recommended it a while back. I picked my wife up from the airport and we hit this place on the way home to Lee's Summit. Price-Rite is great!! I had an Italian sandwich grilled in the panini press and my wife got a Reuben. We actually ended up having have of each and shared. They were excellent!! We also picked up some Italian sausage from the deli case. I made past with it and some cherry tomatoes from our garden that night. It was amazing! They have groceries and wonderful fresh produce here too. I picked up some ham salad, a banana pepper that went in the pasta too, plus some Colorado peaches. Just a fine place! OMG where's this place been all my life??? This unassuming, almost farm stand looking deli and market serves up some of the best Italian food I've had in Kansas City! The minute we walked in we were greeted by the friendly staff. My eyes were immediately drawn to the deli case where I was blown away by the pizza selection . I was there for a sandwich so I directed my attention to the menu board of cold and hot sandwiches. I selected the chicken spedini sandwich and the hubs got the daily special, hot ham and cheese. After placing our order we wandered around the store. It was an Italian lovers paradise....Italian cookies, pasta, frozen meals, meatballs, etc. Meanwhile as I made my way back to the front of the store I saw the sign " voted best garlic knots in KC" so of course I HAD to order 2! Our food came up fast even though this place was busy ( it was noon). Outside there are some covered tables to sit and eat. That's when the real magic began. Holy moly my sandwich was huge! The chicken hanging way over the bun. So crispy on the outside and soft and airy inside. Delish! The chicken was pounded thin, breaded and fried and covered in garlic. So good. My hubs ham and cheese was piled high with ham and cheese on the amazing toasted bun. Lastly the "show stopper" the garlic knots.... I have dreams about them! Price rite is a go to spot for us for fresh produce, flowers, general groceries and some delicious home made meals. They have great pizza and many daily specials including sandwiches, tacos, etc etc. Today we tried the new fresh hot jumbo pretzels with cheese and OMG were they delicious! We'll be adding this yummy treat to our future hot and delicious orders. What a neat little grocery / convenience store and restaurant. First, due to some major road construction it was a little difficult to get to. Can't get there from the south direction, have to approach from the north. However, one we got there it was worth the drive. We got a chicken parmesan sandwich and pork tenderloin sandwich. Both were huge and reasonably priced. They were both very good. People working there were very nice and friendly. This place is also a small grocery type store. Plus they have a lot of prepared foods you can buy ready to eat or take home with you. They also had pumpkins and some really neat gords for the holiday. Check it out. read more

If you're thinking about trying Price-Rite, don't wait any longer. I saw a couple pictures of the meatball sub here on Yelp & drove up on a Friday for lunch. Wow, this is a fun store & restaurant. The man and I noticed several large boxes of watermelons when we pulled up. As we walked closer to the storefront, we noticed more items for sale: peaches, tomatoes, onions, garlic, and other seasonal produce. Inside, we walked down the aisle closer to the deli case to read through the menu and place our order. Although we needed a little time, two individuals were available to help us when we were ready. I ordered the meatball sub, he chose the Italian steak sandwich, and we ordered a slice of pepperoni pizza to share. The sandwiches came with chips and we each grabbed a bottle of soda from the refrigerated section. We didn't see seating inside, but had remembered a couple of tables and seats connected to the outside of the building. Even in July, the overhang and a nice breeze was pleasant as we dined al fresco. I have a feeling we'll be back soon to purchase a watermelon & sample more of the delicious menu items. read more

This place is on a country road mixed in with houses. I came here with my daughter and grandson. We ordered a BLT sandwich which was the special of the day. It's seriously the best BLT I have ever had with more than 1/3 a pound of bacon on it. I probably should've only eaten half but I couldn't help myself. I've had their pizza before, which is excellent. They have a lot of food that's already made in case you don't want to cook. The people working here are very nice and friendly. I have driven by this place a hundred million times and been completely ignorant of all it had to offer. But after a visit I'm here to say - don't overlook it. They have a surprisingly comprehensive selection of produce and pantry staples, considering. They also have all the normal beverages and snacks you'd expect. And then there is the deli. Meat sliced to order, which I didn't try so I can't comment on. And a menu, small but good. They have pizza by the slice, a one to two types of sandwiches that are their specials, a handful of hot sandwich staples, and some appetizers. I selected a slice of pepperoni pizza (one is plenty for a lunch, maybe 2 slices for a dinner? They're huge!). As a self-professed pizza snob, I have to say, the pizza was amazing. A tad on the greasy side, but nothing that couldn't be fixed with a couple extra napkins. And now I have to go back for a mufalleta, because that's their Monday special. read more

Soooooo... I really wanted to like Price-Rite. I really wanted to have an amazing sandwich. And the kids wanted some pizza. We wanted them delivered also. Ordered up some PR based on Yelp reviews and some local here-say because in the words of my friend "some people swear by this place, but I haven't been". So... delivery ordered for Cheese Pizza, Pastrami and Swiss Sandwich, and Turkey and Swiss Sandwich. And while we technically got those things brought to our friends house, it was VERY unsatisfying. Looking back at the receipt, we paid $50 all in (though technically the food itself was only $35) and also had - which I totally forgot about - Italian Wontons. Plus, we were drinking and hungry so the bar was quite low to begin with. But how can you just put two ingredients on some bread and call it a sandwich? Technically it is, I guess, but that's literally all that was happening. Turkey + Swiss cheese + two slices of bread. That's all. No sauce. No toppings. Nothing. Quite possibility one of the weirdest (plainest) sandwiches I've ever paid someone to make for me. The pizza was totally fine. Would I order or go anywhere out of my way to try PR again? You can't miss the banners outside for New York style pizza by the slice. If you have horses, they also sell straw and hay. Several friends told me they were wowed by their take-out food. Once you get inside, head to the deli section. You'll be amazed by the selection. For our first visit, we tried the Chicken Spiedini, Manicotti & Meatballs and House Salad. My only recommendation for Price-Rite is to change its name. Way too generic for an amazing deli inside of an old fashioned country market. Even those of us that work near there confuse the name with other generic places; how about "The Best Damn Pizza Joint" or "Killer Deli Sammies"? Definitely more memorable and to the point. The Chicken Spiedini and Reuben's are phenomenal and so is the NY Style pizza's. We often grab several pizzas a few times a year for meetings and parties. Today we ordered 8 large 16" specialty pizza's for $130, almost half of Minsky's price and just as good or about the same price as generic chain pizza but triple the flavor with an abundance of toppings. The folks at Price -Rite are mighty nice and what's not to love about great food, great prices and all your c-store needs plus some in an old school market. The Little Store is hopping! The meatball sandwich is huge. If you're craving some cheese, bread, and giant saucy meatballs, this is your stop. I couldn't help myself and got 2 slices of pizza, 1 pepperoni and 1 pineapple Canadian bacon pizza. My friend and I attacked those before I even thought about taking some pictures for mementos. Unfortunately for me I have not been eating out much lately. But tonight, I decided to stop by Price Rite for some carry out. I tried their Chicken Parmesan Sandwich which happened to be their special. As you can see by the pictures, I did not go hungry! They took some Nuggets of chicken breast breaded them and fried them, then stuffed a 9 inch bread roll to the top and covered the whole thing with marinara and cheese. Put it in the oven until it was nice and happy and then brought it out to me. They served it with a fountain drink and a bag of chips for a grand total of $9.50. What a great little store. Based on other reviews, I tried it last year when I came in from the airport by getting a family lasagna from their 'meals to go' Case. It was OK. I think something like lasagna is hard to pre-make, hold, and then serve a couple days later as the noodles get soggy. That was the case with the lasagna. I also knew most of the rave reviews had come from their sandwiches, so that's what we did today. My delicious and large Reuben was $9.99 and the Hubs Italian Panini was also $9.99. I also got a spicy little container of all of salad that was vinegar and plenty hot. While waiting for them to make our sandwiches we looked around and was seriously impressed with their selection of goods as well as their pricing. It became kind of a joke because I kept going back to the cashier to buy one more thing. We ate outside in their little picnic area and would absolutely recommend stopping by if you're in their neck of the woods. I will mention they had a steady stream of traffic in and out of the store today as they sell their pizza slices for $.99 on Sundays. Ok, so one of my coworkers suggested this place. So I stopped in on a whim. Incredible would be an understatement. Best manicotti and meat balls I have ever had. I also got some garlic knots and a slice of pizza. (Maybe don't go when you're starving) I had so much food I will have to eat the other 2/3 at a later time.
