This is where I was before I walked into Dr Prieto's office. For the past 12 months I was in lots of sciatic pain, my ankles, knees and lower back , I have had sciatic pain before but this time it was debilitating, I couldn't walk more than a few feet , I couldn't stand on my feet for more than a few minutes, sitting in the car or at my office was painful. I had an MRI done from which my primary Doctor told me to go see an Orthopedic Doctor, I had a bulging disc and a collapsed disc, L4 and L5. I saw two Doctors, one in Newport Beach and one in Irvine. Spinal decompression therapy has been a great help in managing my chronic back pain.The therapy itself involves lying on a special table while a machine gently stretches your spine. Dr. Prieto changed my life. I have been suffering from pain all over by body, but especially in my si joints, neck and upper back for over 5 years. I have seen approximately 18 doctors of various specialities, had multiple cortisone shots, epidural injections, nerve blocks, acupuncture, massage and have been in physical therapy for 3 years. All of these treatments haven't been successful and all of the doctors I had seen could not figure out why I was not responding to any treatment. I saw Dr. Prieto to get his opinion and to see if he could help me. I spent a lot of time with him as he went over my health history taking detailed notes of all of my symptoms and treatments I had tried thus far. I have suffered with lower back pain for the past 15 years. At one point, my back pain and sciatic was so bad that my right leg went numb for three weeks. They wanted to do surgery, but before I agreed to that, I wanted to go through all my options. Was told about decompression and thought I'd give it a try. Never in a million years did I think that this would work, but it did! My numbness was gone and my back no longer hurt. I was able to go back to my normal life. 3 weeks ago I attempted to work on my bathroom faucet, under the sink inside the vanity. Heard my back pop and didn't think much of it until after my LaGree class the next day. Dr.Prieto and his team run a life changing practice that has not only stopped my excruciating back pain of TWO years but has also changed the way I sleep, complete daily tasks, and exercise. One treatment is all it took! I had been suffering from a stiff neck. A kink that prevented me from turning my head in either direction. After a quick x-ray, Brian determined I had cervical spondylosis, commonly called arthritis of the neck. He recommended a four week treatment. After the first treatment, I was able to fully turn my neck - free of pain - in either direction. I still completed the four week treatment, but I felt complete relief after the first treatment. My name is Terry Short and I am a patient of Dr. Prieto. About six months ago, in the middle of the night, I somehow tweaked my neck. I don't know how I did it but I woke up with a sharp pain in my shoulder. I thought it would be fine in the morning, but it wasn't fine. I couldn't move my neck and I could hardly walk. The pain was coming from my neck and down my right arm and into my fingers. I couldn't hold anything and I could hardly move. I called Dr. Prieto's office and I was able to get in to see him that afternoon. Dr. Prieto looked at me and said he needed to take X-rays. After reviewing the x-rays with me, he said he needed an MRI. I realized this was going to be more than a simple neck adjustment. The results on the MRI weren't good. Dr. Prieto showed me the images on his computer and explained everything to me. There were 5 discs with problems and I asked Dr. Prieto to explain my options. I knew I didn't want surgery. I assumed I had some kind of pinched nerve and Dr. Prieto said he had therapy that would help my neck issue. He was thorough and very diagnostic in his approach so I decided to give it a try. He put me on the spinal decompression machine and it didn't hurt at all. It was gently separating the discs in my neck and I didn't feel a thing!  I did this therapy about 3 days a week for a couple of months and then I went down to 2 days a week and now I'm down to one day a week. The pain on my right side is completely gone and my neck is better. I am not feeling that nauseating pain anymore. Also, as a senior citizen you worry about losing your balance or falling. I had been feeling a little 'off 'and my balance was a problem for me. I felt my compressed neck might have had something to do with my balance issue. While I was going through the decompression treatment I got my balance back, and I could start playing the piano again. The piano requires a lot of hand movement and eye coordination and my balance issue had been making it hard for me to play. So I'm just really excited that I'm pain free and that I can do the things that give me joy. I just know that everyone has choices on how they want to deal with their injuries... whether it's surgery or whatever...as no one wants to deal with the pain. I was originally referred to Dr. Prieto for extreme sciatic nerve pain by my doctor. I was hesitate as I have never been comfortable with chiropractic care. I am pleased to say Dr Prieto has been 100% from diagnoses to referrals since my accident Sunday 1-17-21. I had a fall and I injured my back. 1-18-21 I called Dr Prieto and my long standing pain management doctor. The only call I got back was from Dr Prieto. I was seen and evaluated by him that afternoon and he took X-ray, had them read by a radiologist and he put in an order for a MRI.1-19-21 had a telahealth visit with my pain management PA and she agreed that I needed a MRI. I came to Prieto chiropractic and decompression after I was referred by a family friend because I had slipped a disk 9mm in between my L5 & S1. The staff made me feel at ease and Dr. Prieto suggested a course of action using decompression to get my disk back in place and avoid surgery. He was extremely knowledgable and went over things with me to make sure I understood what the plan was. Wow, just WOW! Dr. Prieto and his staff are amazing. I am a very active 48 year old man who enjoys Mountain biking and Motocross. For almost a month I was in excruciating pain due to an 8mm herniated disc at my L3. I was dealing with maybe two hours a night sleep (not consecutive). I did some research on spinal decompression, and found this office had high reviews. I called the office. Explaining the 10 out of 10 pain I was in.. one of the staff members put the doctor on the phone (Yes it is still possible to talk to a doctor), and he spent over 10 minutes explaining my options! He said to come in and we could get started the following day. So I go in to the office and I bring my MRI CD with me and the Doctor goes over it with me - in detail. The doctor that ordered the MRI didn't even go over it with me! They just said "yea you have a good sized marble in there." Great system we have. On the next visit, I agree to start a program for spinal decompression and after the very first session my pain went from a 10 out of 10 to a 3 out of 10! I could not stand for over 30 seconds at a time and after just two sessions we are already saw massive progress! I realize that not everybody has this type of reaction, but I was floored! I want to share my story for those with sciatica don't give up on a pain free life. I had sciatica for 2 years, and can only stand for about 5 mins before i have to take a sit. I tried everything chiropractor, acupuncture, bone spur medicine... and it does not help. Once day i heard about spinal decompression therapy, i decided to give it a try. Dr. Prieto spent 20 to listen to me and recommend me to take a MRI, to make sure i'm a right candidate for this treatment. I took MRI and confirmed a herniated disc at L4-L5. It took me 3 times per week for 2 month, and now i'm sciatica free. I still feel a little weakness at my lower back, but i think it will heal by itself. One more thing, if you have sciatica you may want to avoid put more pressure on your back (bend over, heavy lift), and try to do pull up exercise, i think it really helps. I can't say enough good things about DrPrieto . I have had back problems for many years due to arthritis and scoliosis. I started having knee problems about 10 years ago and developed a severe limp which made my back problems even worse . After 2 knee replacements 7 months apart my right knee would not straighten after 46 very aggressive physical therapy sessions for the right knee alone. I was told by my orthopedic surgeon (Harvard Medical School )that the damage was permanent and that the knee would never straighten and my limping and back problems would worsen also . I told Dr Prieto about this on one of my visits the prognosis of the Dr and the Physical therapists. He worked on my right leg and knee for about 10 minutes doing aggressive soft tissue work and when I got off the table my leg was pain free , STRAIGHT and I walked out of the office with no limp whatsoever. To this day I can walk normally with no limp or pain . I also had decompression therapy to help straighten and decompress my spine from years of misalignment. Then one day I came across Dr. P's ad for spinal decompression. We went, had an mri, and learned that in his opinion(Dr. P) I was not even a poor candidate for the procedure. We said that we would still like to try. With reservations I completed the regimen and have been pain free for 8-9 years, with nary a re-visit. I recently hurt my hip(nothing to do with the decompression). Back to see Dr. P and in 4 treatments using regular treatments I am almost whole again. I am 48 years old and drive a lot in my profession. Last year I went to see Dr Prieto for lower back pain and sciatica problems. After an MRI confirmed what he had anticipated, we started the spinal decompression treatment. It took 5 sessions to feel any progress and then 7 more sessions to feel nearly back to 100%.
