I got a Groupon massage from McFarland Chiropractic in November 2019. It felt like I was at a car dealership with the high-pressure sales tactic to schedule future chiropractic appointments before I was able to start the massage. I never went back or got another Groupon massage anywhere else for fear of having something similar happen. So, imagine my surprise when I got a text tonight at 9:59pm on the last day of November with birthday wishes AND an offer to schedule a FREE chiropractic appointment, as long as I schedule it within my birthday month. No thank you. Even if there were more than 121 minutes left in my birthday month AND your business was open 24/7, I am not willing to subject myself to the strong-arm tactics for a free appointment. It seems that six years is still not long enough for me to forget how your office staff made me feel that November day in 2019. But, thank you for the belated birthday wishes. read more

I can't recommend due to the sale: like experience I had. I believe I had about 6-8 visits here and only the first was thorough but it was only because he would be charging insurance extra for the "consult" and X-rays. There was a promotion where he would try to sell their massage services and he advertised various promotions online... maybe that was the clue that it was a high volume and low quality care practice. What I was disappointed with was how quickly he wanted to finish the visit and how robotic the visits became. It became less focus on the pain and assessing improvements to let's get cracking and use the electric pulse device and get you on your way out for the next patient. Another annoyance was that when I asked to have the copy of my X-ray he made a big fuss until I got angry. It was as if he didn't care to share the X-ray for my health and wanted to leverage it to have me return... it was pathetic. If he's your first chiropractor experience it could ruin the trust in finding a legit health provider. It would make you feel like it's a complete sham of an industry... which unfortunately there are a ton of bad practitioners trying to make a quick buck. read more

Dr McFarland is a great chiropractor and a miracle worker. He has done various things with me to help with healing my injury and reducing inflammation which has worked fantastically. He gave me a set of exercises to do to strengthen the muscles and area. All his work and exercises have helped with making a quantum leap on the healing process. read more

The main receptionist is a middle aged female who talks way too much to customers at times and ignores new customers as they come in. 4 stars for excellent customer service given by the staff and the doctor himself! I have major spine issues and I was really nervous about going to a chiropractor, I've read some epic fails on Yelp and really dragged my feet LOL. I've been mostly getting LOTS of trigger point injections up and down my spine (VERY PAINFUL) but they wear off so fast :( I figured I have nothing to lose so I was referred through KP to an outside specialty department for a chiropractor, I really dug deep into Yelp before picking one. This is my spine your talking about and you shouldn't just leave it to anyone LOL! I made an appointment in the middle of August and was seen last week (08.31.15), they asked me to print out some paperwork and of course I was already prepared, they were super prompt and courteous. They double checked some paperwork and insurance and I was called back, I did have to wait a bit to actually see the doctor but he was so friendly and actually cared about what I had to say! He listens and already had a good idea of why my migraines and spine issues are so bad, he took some X-Rays and used some special technology LOL, He definitely put me at ease and answered all of my questions. This is the first experience we've had with a chiropractic office, but so far, we are pleased. It was easy to get an appointment and we didn't have to wait too long. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The office is clean and the doctor spent lots of time assessing and explaining the treatment plan and options to my daughter. We love that this office is right down the street. It makes it easy to get to appointments and just convenient personally. We haven't tried any massage therapy yet, but the initial two visits have gone well and we are very happy with the experience. Dr McFarland & his staff are WONDERFUL!! I had a complete and very thorough initial visit to see what kind of therapy plan we needed to put into place. I already knew I had a lot of complications due to ongoing health issues, but I was shocked by what Dr McFarland revealed. Almost every disc that was out of alignment correlated with other issues I've been experiencing: headaches, migraines, acne, stomach issues, kidney issues, TMJ pain. My following visit, the Dr went over my X-rays and explained in detail what I could expect from my treatment plan, and after my first adjustment, I felt GREAT!! Had my new patient appointment and was immediately greeted by a friendly front desk staff. Was taken to a room and told the doctor would be in soon. After sitting in the room for over 45 minutes with no contact from anybody I decided I needed to cancel my appointment and get on with my day. I could understand if the wait was because of earlier appointments that ran long but my appointment was at 11 am so more likely the doctor just didn't respect my time. This was definitely not how I wanted to spend my one day off this week and will not return to a place that shows such a lack of respect for their patients and the patient's time. read more

I am no newbie when it comes to going to doctor's office. However, I have never experienced more than 30 min wait. When I first went to this clinic, I didn't even have to wait. I was a new patient. As soon as I got in, I handed the reception my papers and not even 5 min after I was called in right away. On my second appointment which is supposed to be my follow up, I waited 40 min and nobody called me in. Three people came in after me and they waited around 5 min only and was ushered in right away. One of them is a new patient coz I overheard her talking to the reception. Maybe they're good with new patients. But how would you retain your patients if your only good on the first visit? They should take into consideration that people have other stuff to attend to not only to them. If a patient made an appointment at a certain time is because that's the time they're available. As much as the patients value them, they should value their patients time and respect it. read more

I have had a bad experience with chiropractors in the past and was reluctant to go. But my insurance decided to not pay physical therapists what they should so went to this chiro. Such a GREAT choice! Dr. Barclay is great. I have low back sciatic issues and osteoporosis. I didn't want the typical bone cracking adjustment. Dr. Barclay uses the graston technique which does not involve bone cracking but deep tissue work ( which is my layperson description of it) and and activator. He is very good at explaining things, a very calm personality but informative and caring. He is very knowledgeable on other areas as well. I have substantial improvement with my sciatica...I feel that if I were in physical therapy I would not be this far along. And it did not take that many visitis to feel improvement. Dr. Barclay is concerned with treating the whole person. He explains how the body was used to being in this position and how he could help get it in alignment and help keep it there. He doesn't throw a bunch of stretches at you at once because he knows hardly anyone does them. He gives you a few key stretches for what your body can handle and then progresses from there. What a refreshing change. The staff here is amazing. After your first visit they greet by first name every single time. A small gesture but goes a long way. They have wonderful massage therapists. I personally like Jesamine but both are great. I have read reviews from other chiro offices and you won't have any of the negative experience that you read about. No requests to write a yelp review, visits are always ON TIME, no up selling. Just quality care from a place that truly cares about you as a person. read more

I was recommended to Dr. Shaygan by my mother and took advantage of the new customer special, which is a massage, x-ray, consultation and chiropractic adjustment. I thought it was a pretty sweet deal. Dr. Shaygan was great and suggested I come in twice a week for the first 2 weeks. I gave my Medi-Cal insurance information to the front desk who told me they would follow up on it. Unfortunately, no one at the front desk ever did, so I decided to contact my insurance to see if I could get referred to McFarland Group. I cannot afford to pay out of pocket, so having insurance coverage is necessary at this time. Today, I went in for a massage only, which turned out to be 50 min instead of 60 min as I was told. 10 minutes makes a huge difference when you're experiencing a lot of pain. Nicole at the front desk explained to me that those 10 minutes are needed for the therapist to "turn over" the room for the next client. As someone who has worked in a massage practice before, I understand that, but please don't advertise an hour if you're only giving 50 minutes. You can easily add an extra 10 minutes to the therapists schedule, rather than taking it out of the clients time. Nicole seemed adamant in arguing her case, but really, is it that difficult to figure out? And why argue with the paying customer? Also, I was also told by Nicole upon checking out that McFarland Group does not accept Medi-Cal. What?? How come no one told me the first time?? They could have saved me a lot of time, as I would have been looking elsewhere for the chiropractic care I need. Now, I have to contact my insurance company again and switch the referral. I don't understand businesses who offer special deals to lure you in but don't follow through with their potential clients best interest. Not so impressed at this point. read more

I bought their special on Living Social. I filled out all the paperwork before hand. My appointment was at 3:30. Finally seen the Dr. at 4:00. The Massage therapist was Great. Dr. was very nice. I live on a Very limited income and was told there would be No charge for the follow up visit. I arrived early for my appoint and still had to wait 30 min's past my appointment. I came to Dr. McFarland a broken woman. I could not move my neck, I had shooting and dull headaches that lasted for days and my shoulders were misaligned. Dr. McFarland's diagnostic tools/machines help the patient understand exactly what is going on with their body...this is way beyond a simple x-ray. The real-time results and Dr. McFarland's explanation of them makes understanding the care plan effortless. I've been to plenty of chiropractors who couldn't support their care plans with anything, but an x-ray, a payment schedule and sweaty hands (eww). I am happy to report that after following Dr. McFarland's care plan I am back to 100%! I go in for a once a month tune-up which is awesome since Dr. McFarland is such a joy to be around. The office atmosphere is friendly and upbeat. Real people work here! My sister, brother in-law and my ADHD, 11 year old nephew all see Dr. McFarland. He is so very good with my nephew who is just a wisp of a boy. He couldn't be more gentle or patient with him...his adjustments have been very effective...skinny little kids with no muscle have structural integrity issues!
