First part: I called Primal Ice to ask about how it works and the lady whom answered was super helpful explained to me I had to fill out a consent form online & basically after I could just walk in. Super easy website easy to use & the following day Friday evening we walked In and they took care of us. Second part: Once you enter the room they explain to you what to wear & show you where the socks & especial shoes are as well as the ropes you will be wearing. We undressed then put the ropes on socks with shoes then we opened the door to let them know we were ready for the therapy. She explained to us the process once we were inside the chamber & she informed us the benefits as well asked us questions if we had any areas of focused (aces or pain). The treatment only lasted for myself 2 minutes because my lower body couldn't handle anymore time but I'm determined next time to push through for another minute. My first visit to Primal Ice was surely a good one! I came here for a session right after a really intense workout in the gym. Primal Ice is located in a plaza near Cider Junction. There is quite a bit of parking but a lot of spaces are compact. Service here is really something else. The staff are really nice and genuine. They are very knowledgable so feel free to ask questions! They relate so well with customers and make you feel comfortable during your experience. They walked me through the entire process and even cheered me on for holding out so long in the chamber (and I really don't do well with the cold). The interior is clean and organized. There are a few stalls to change into gloves, robes, and slippers. The curtains are a bit thin and could be improved for more coverage. The chamber itself was much smaller than I expected. My shoulders are really wide so I would run into the edges as I turned in circles. The cold was cold...but bearable. As someone who has lived in Northern California my entire life and not fawn of the cold at all, it wasn't too bad. To warm up, they offer a machine to shake the lower half of the body. It was actually pretty fun and enjoyable. Although there was quite a bit of paperwork to fill out, the staff were really personable and made the process go through smoothly. After just one session, I just felt energized and refreshed. The cryo sessions are expensive, but I would definitely recommend trying it at least once. read more

I first heard about cyrotherapy from a coworker and my initial response was "oh it deals with the cold, pass". I always thought I could tolerate the cold, but I don't like to be in the cold If I had the choice to. It wasn't until last week where I saw a LivingSocial/Groupon for a whole body cyrotherapy session at Primal Ice and gave it some more thought. And so I did a lot of research. The more I read about it, the more I got curious and skeptical and then thought YOLO, I'm gonna buy the coupon and try it for myself! The coupon came out to be less than 30 bucks a session. I think that's pretty reasonable for your first time. Normally they go for double that price. There's not that many cyrotherapy places in my area so it's quite a drive for me to go to one. Primal Ice is in Willow Glen and their other location is in Campbell. It's in the same plaza as Cider Junction and right next to Cafe Gourmet. There's plenty of parking but can be packed during busy hours and spaces are really compact. They opened at 10am and I did a walk in around that time yesterday. I was greeted by a friendly lady at front. I didn't get her name but she was very nice, helpful and made my first experience really comfortable. To speed up the check in process, you should sign the waiver online beforehand, which I did and my whole check in process was smooth and fast. After that's done, she took me to a dressing room and provided me gloves, socks, slippers, and a robe. All clothes are off except your underwear and bra (optional for ladies). Then it's off to the chamber you go! During the 3 mins in that chamber, it was cold, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It's comparable to walking in cold snowy weather in the East Coast or Tahoe. Anyways, how I felt after? First off, I didn't go in with any pains or aches, I only had major leg soreness. And it did relieve some soreness after, but did not get rid of it completely; it's not suppose. The purpose of cyrotherapy is to relieve some pain/soreness/inflammation. So I guess it did that part. It's also suppose to get you awake, alive, boost your mood and give you energy. It did get me really awake and aware and my mood was a little boosted. Energy? I'm not sure since I did boring errands after. I wished I worked out right after the cyrotherapy session to fully take advantage of the experience. I went to the gym 4 hours later and by then I was yawning and wasn't as awake as the first hour or two after the session. I think it would've been a good preworkout replacement if I had went to the gym right after. Oh well, next time! A whole body cyrotherapy session also helps to increase metabolism and burn calories. Studies haven't really been proven that it does, but some people do lose weight after a session. I did lose almost 2 lbs the day after, but granted I didn't eat for most of the day and worked out for 2 hours. So take that with a grain of salt. Everyone's bodies works differently so what works for me may not work for everyone. Overall, I had a great first experience! I am no longer curious and skeptical. I would definitely go back but it would be more worth it if I had more pain or soreness to relieve. Other than that, it would be expensive to continue going every week. FYI, they have Happy Hour every Friday from 3-6PM. One whole body cyrotherapy session is $25! read more

I came in for a second visit and tried the level 2 cryo. The temp is approx -275F if I'm not mistaken. From my understanding it's minus 30 degrees Celsius as compared to level 1. I love it. I went in over a year ago with a strained back and bought a pack of 3 sessions. I used it once that day and it worked great. I really feel like it sped up my recovery time. Unfortunately, I wasn't aware those passes expire so no cryotherapy for me. I have chronic back pain and last weekend it got so bad, I was desperate to try alternative methods. First, I went to my regular acupuncture and cupping appt and the next day, I made a cyro appt at Primal ice. I called them when they opened and was able to get an appt for a few hours later. The lady who helped me (forgot her name) was very nice and explained things well. It's pretty straight forward - get undressed, put on the clean robe and stuff they supply and get in; so nothing really to prep for. When I got in, I thought it was doable but didn't realize it wasn't turned all the way on yet lol 90 seconds is the minimum, and I made it to the 3 minute mark. It was freezing but not unbearable. I only did level 1 so I wonder what level 3 feels like She was there monitoring the entire time so I felt safe. When I got out I was tingling all over in a good way. Overall, it felt good! As for the results, it's really hard to tell because I was still in a bit of pain after but the next few days, I felt better but I can't tell if it's from cyro, acupuncture or cupping, unfortunately. I'd like to try this again when I haven't tried anything else to see how it really makes me feel. I'll be back! read more

Today I wanted to try cryotherapy for my lower back pain, I aggravated it on Saturday evening training at the gym. I was unable to walk or carry anything Saturday night or all day Sunday. I have been here once before but i had nothing going on with my body at that time. This time however, I was looking for low back pain relief and to reduce the inflammation in the area. I work as a massage therapist and I need to be healthy and pain-free, as I work on many athletes. About 1 hour after my treatment, I could still feel a cold sensation in my lumbar region. I even tested my low back out by carrying my gym bag up a flight of stairs; no pain! Don't get me wrong my low back still hurts but its much better than it was. I will be going back tomorrow in hopes that 2 back-to-back treatments will help even more. You're only in the chamber for about 3 minutes but during that time, the chamber hits minus 260 degrees, this is level 2, I believe! While you are in there, you got to keep moving as your skin temperature reaches 30 degrees. But if you were to ice only, your skin temperature reaches only 40 degrees! Today marks ONE YEAR later (yes I marked my calendar to write this review). I have terrible burn marks and scars left from this treatment. I left several messages, emails for Lindsey, and she just disappeared. I never heard from her once, never got a response to a single email. I'd never sue a small business owner, so I'm not sure why she felt so threatened. Spent a LOT of money on buying the package and it went to waste. She should have at least given me the money back for the part I didn't use. I want to warn you... you can get second degree burns. I have scars from 1 year ago to prove it. I went in to Glace for my very first cryotherapy treatment today. Since I've been hearing and seeing all of the buzz about it and how it helps with recovery of muscle aches, pains and inflammation (the list goes on)...I needed to try it out for myself. I'm an active fighter and I'm am constantly sore, so any help with recovery is a bonus. I just have to say, MAN THAT WAS COLD! You get put in a chamber at -200 or so degrees for 3 minutes. I'm not exactly sure how cold I went, but since I've done ice treatments they started me off colder than normal. It really isn't like the initial shock like you get when you step into an ice bath, it gradually gets colder and colder deeper into your 3 minute session. There is someone there the entire time controlling it, counting down the minutes and explaining to you what your body should be going through at that moment. There was a point where I felt like I couldn't take it anymore (with about 20 seconds left), but that's where it really does become just a mental thing. Once you step out of the chamber, it takes a couple of minutes to feel your finger tips and nipples again LOL, but you also feel rejuvenated. I met Ryan the owner and Heather. They were both awesome. Super friendly and made me feel very welcomed. They are also very clean and organized. I bought a 3 session package right after, so I'm definitely coming back and I CAN'T WAIT! I would never have thought to do cryotherapy if it weren't for my friends who seem to be into the latest and greatest health fads. I didn't even know this was a thing. I was super nervous, but in the end it was a cool experience. The facilities are very clean and the sessions are very quick and straightforward. You go into the cryo chamber in just your underwear, wool gloves and socks and special shoes (that look like diving/water shoes); the more skin exposed, the better. Then the 3 minutes of freezing begins. The hubby and I went for level 2 after some coaxing from our friends. It was rather bearable until I started to feel pins and needles stabbing my legs. There is a revitalizing feeling some minutes after coming out of the chamber, but afterwards my husband and I felt super sleepy for the rest of the day. This can happen to some people from what I was told. Our friends, on the other hand, were full of energy. My expectations were high going in as I have done quite a lot of research in this area. I'm a cold adaptive person, love cold showers, wear a Cool Fat Burner Vest nearly every morning and cold tub therapy at home. High-level athletics have long been a part of my life and in the search of improved recovery and better performance, I had to give cryotherapy a try. In the past, I've done regular massage, ART, stretching, compression, and ice baths. None of those have had the impact that a few cryo sessions can deliver! It's definitely an intense experience, but oh do I feel good afterward! The price may appear steep in relation to time, but compared to a massage, the effectiveness is on par or better.
