I had been putting off going to get the colonic therapy for a long time and finally got the nerve. A few people have recommended it, but I was too intimidated. When I walked in, I felt immediately at ease and reassured. It was like walking into a comfortable day spa and even though I worried I would seem out of place, i was warmly welcomed. There was plenty of orientation and explanation that made me feel welcome. I started with the FIR treatment which was way more therapeutic than I expected. Amazing yo to sweat out all those toxins! The hydrotherapy was much easier to do and there was no worry about my privacy. I was thoroughly given a sense of comfort and "this is no big deal" when it came to instructions.. this was really reassuring and I was able to relax and experience. What is colon hydrotherapy? -treatment to flush out the the colon with fluids to remove waste. Why now? I'm older and I'm trying to do whatever I can to upkeep and maintain my body. I also wanted to remove any toxins before I started my diet. BENEFITS: -improves digestion, helps weight loss, increases energy, helps absorb vitamins and nutrients, helps with constipation I started researching and found out that there's two methods of colon hydrotherapy -closed system treatment and open system treatment. Initially I was just trying to find any clinic that had good ratings but in the end, after more research, I wanted to do the open system treatment. It just looked less invasive, you get more privacy and it just sounded more comfortable (or as it could be). South Bay Holistics was the only clinic that offered the open system near me. I went onto their website, checked out their services/prices and booked my appointment for Colon Hydrotherapy for $115. Easy peasy. My appointment was at 10:30am on a Monday. They sent out a reminder email and text two days before my appointment. 2 hours before my appointment, I was supposed to only drink/eat lightly. But I only drank some water that day. South Bay was located across the street from Kaiser Hospital off Santa Teresa Blvd. It stood alongside other medical/business offices in a small plaza. I came about 15 minutes early. Walking in I got a blast of heat, which felt very inviting on a cold morning. It had the scents of a regular day spa. I checked in with the lady at the front desk and then Joanna, the colon therapist, came out and greeted me. She had me fill out paperwork that went over my person info, consent form and health history. While I waited, I noticed that Holistic not only offered colon hydrotherapy but also had a cosmetologist and massage therapist on site. The waiting room had eyelashes, make-up brushes and skincare all on display and available for purchase. Once I filled out my forms, she led me back into the dimly lit room for my session. The room was decorated with poop emoji stuffed animals and poop quotes which was pretty funny and made the environment feel comfortable. She went over what I needed to do and how everything was set up. A lot of info, but pretty easy to do. Once I changed into a gown and pair of socks, I would have to set myself up. Only the client could set themself up, not the therapist. (FYI, the nozzle that's inserted into the rectum is about the size of a pencil and goes in about 1.5 inches) She also had a heat lamp to warm up the tummy and portable heated massager, if wanted. What I liked? I was able to do my business in private! I had the option of her staying in the room, but she recommended private because I would be more comfortable to do my business. She would just check up on me every 15-20minutes to see if I was still okay and if I had any questions. What did it feel like? As water filled up my tummy, I felt a slight pressure. I had to hold as much water in as possible so it would soften everything up. Once filled up, it felt like I REALLY need to go #3, with mild cramps and then it felt like it was going to burst out. And that was my que to "go!" That was basically the cycle. I just laid flat down on my back, chilled and let the water do its job. I was on my phone the whole time. If I needed a break, there was a switch to turn off the water on the hose. I was pretty much okay throughout the whole time and left the water running. Towards the last 15-20 minutes of my session, Joanna came me in to give me heads up to finish up and reminded me what I needed to do to. After my time was up, I turned off the flow of water. There was an handheld water spray attached to the bed to wash myself off. The water was cold at first, which was a shock, and then it heated up. Hopped off the bed, went to the bathroom inside the room and got rid of anything that was left, then dressed myself. Joanna came back around and gave me the option of looking at what my body released. From there she was able to examine my diet and gave me advice on what I should eat/avoid eating. More fiber and veggies, less meat and grains because that would back me up. Also a new trend call the Celery Diet and which juicer to buy. Joanna was very friendly, informative, made me feel comfy and that it was just any regular day. 10% off first visit with yelp check-in but she charged me $99 since it was first visit. So the deal she gave me was actually cheaper! Cool. She asked if I wanted to buy any packages or book my next appointment, but I wanted to see how I felt the rest of the day before I committed. After I paid, she gave me a magnet that listed kitchen food conversions and a pink sticker that said "I pooped today!" Lol. I came home and weighed myself, lost 1.4lbs and I overall, pretty much felt the same. I was able to start my diet with a clear body! read more

This was my third time here and I receive outstanding service each and every time. Joanna is the hydrotherapist who does the colon hydrotherapy. My first visit there was the first time ever trying it which she made me feel very comfortable and at ease. She is super friendly, informative, and listens to any questions I may have. She's not just there trying to get you to buy her service, she actually cares! Now for the hydrotherapy itself, this place allows you to be in the room by yourself whereas most places, the hydrotherapist is right there with you... awkward. At first it seems a bit weird but after a few minutes you get the hang of it. This place is amazing. Currently doing the colon hydrotherapy and feeling great. I've been searching for a place that does this for a bit and I came the first time last week. I got the package of three colon hydrotherapy treatments along with a two week cleanse to take home and do daily. The two week cleanse is 3 pills twice daily and a drink twice daily. Joanna is awesome, professional, respectful, super knowledgeable regarding the human body and internal digestive system. the facility is very private and clean. When I do the hydrotherapy I also do the FIR sauna right before, I've heard it's the best way to do it -so that's what I do. The cost is very reasonable. I also got a great vanilla protein powder for daily shakes along with digestive enzymes and probiotics from her. Great quality and affordable too. (She doesn't over sell anything she just informed me after I asked questions and I liked what I heard) I've always had issues with my digestive system. The doctors put me on meds and tell me basically I just have to deal with it. I've seen several specialist and never get results. For the first time in my life I feel amazing and I don't feel bloated, heavy and full all the time. Joanna has helped me formulate a diet that suits my personal needs and is actually sustainable for my lifestyle. She asked me tons of questions and was sure to explain in detail why certain foods are creating issues for me. In my opinion EVERYONE needs to try this at least once. Don't be embarrassed or feel awkward as soon as u get here she will take great care of you. Ps the whole service is private, the best part about this is you are in the room alone. It was my first time, and Joanna made me feel comfortable the entire visit. Although it was self serviced, she checked in with me every 20 min to make sure I was okay. I had been wanting to do a hydrotherapy treatment for a few years before I finally came here. It was a little weird at first but I really like how private and comfortable it is here. The staff is very nice and knowledgeable. I have been going through peri-menopause for the last few years and the constipation has gotten worse as my hormones become more out of balance. My diet is good but I do admit that I could be drinking more water and exercise more. But sometimes even when I do that, my constipation doesn't go away. Getting the hydrotherapy really helps.
